|
March 25, 2008
“A malfunction may occur on the signal acquisition and actuation module” that controls vehicle some vehicle functions, including the center console lighting, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The transistors were improperly stored and exposed to excess humidity. “The presence of this moisture in combination with thermal stress...may damage the transistors and prevent them from properly functioning which will increase the risk of a crash,” according to NHTSA. Mercedes-Benz dealers will inspect and replace the transistors free of charge when the recall begins in May. Owners may contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372 or NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153). Report Your Experience
