They kept goods in storage during a move for 3 months. When I was ready to receive my furniture they could not find my furniture for 5 days. It was Misplaced... That should tell you a lot about their operation. I made the mistake of using them for another move 6 months later. And a disaster. They damaged 4 items and after they loaded up the truck they asked for a signature on 7 pages each with about 50 entrees on each sheet.. This furniture was all new and they not only damaged the furniture but the supervisor of the move had a bad back and could not lift so they dragged one piece on the floor and scratched a brand new tile floor and the piece of furniture that they dragged was damaged..

I got disgusted on the lack of attention in resolving the damages so I had 3 pieces repaired on my own. They had a quote on the damage of the 4th piece. Of course the check that they send did not include the sales tax and freight that we had to pay to have the piece fixed .. Quite honestly it was not a big number but NOTHING went right. For a major company to operate this way it is a disgrace. Bekins of South Florida uses the Bekins name but the the licensor Bekins will have nothing to do with a local move. THe reviews on the Bekins site are selected positive reviews. As you will see you are on a Bekins site that they control, not a objective site like ConsumerAffairs.

The actual move was terrible. We are not sure what occurred to our home furnishings once placed in the moving custody of Bekins. How many times our property was loaded and reloaded on their trucks and storage facilities. It arrived 4 days late. Most of the packing boxes appeared as if someone had purposely jumped up and down on them, especially the larger boxes. Many items were found broken and beyond repair. If that was not enough. The teak sideboard to our dining room furniture set had both of its doors thrown off and numerous deep scratches that could not be covered up with Old English scratch remover. In addition the doors did never arrived with the rest of our property. The only conclusion we could envision was that some Bekins’ employee had driven a forklift in to it. Also a two tiered desk unit arrived with broken sections and drawers falling out. This unit was also beyond repair.

Obviously no one should entrust their property to this mover. In attempts to be reimbursed for these malicious and careless damages we were told the mover was totally protected by the signed Bill of Lading and terms therein. I would agree, but our sustained damages were not the usual dents and scratches that occur in loading, unloading and transport of household property. Our damaged property was carelessly, maliciously and recklessly handled by Bekins. The Bill of Lading does not give the carrier absolute freedom to destroy your property and be totally sheltered from the responsibility for their malicious and reckless damages. We are now seeking legal action in this matter.

We moved over 10 times in 30 years. Our most recent move with Bekins was the worst. We had contracted for 2 delivery locations- our storage unit and our home. Delivering driver shoved all of our belongings in the storage unit and removed the protective blankets. He promised to return the next day, do an inventory and transfer/deliver contracted/requested items out of the storage unit to our home. The driver did not return the next day. He falsified the inventory sheets by signing them and writing “CRTS” ( customer refused to sign). He did not put a date on the inventory manifest. Company refused to reimburse us for missing items because delivering driver falsified delivery manifest. Personal belongings damaged due to poor handling by delivering driver and his crews. Would never recommend Bekins/Wheaton or any of their affiliates.

Our family has relocated across states 2 times prior, using United. For our third move, we decided to try Bekins, and it was a bad mistake. Our goods were on the truck for 12 days, due to a long delay in delivery. Many items were simply tossed in large boxes and broke. My new grand piano was warped by the humidity. Our grand-father clock is missing a part and no longer keeps time. Though Bekins promises up to $100,000 insurance, the claim process is close to impossible, with Bekins' representative denying liability or offering absurd amounts for compensation.

For a laptop with an internally cracked screen, we were told that the policy only covers external damage (the repair bill exceeds $1,000). Liability for damage to my new Yamaha grand, which was kept on the truck in mid-winter without temperature control, was flat out denied, though the repair clearly states that the piano bed was warped. Liability for the grand-father clock was also denied, since I signed off that it was working when the company rep put it back together. I later discovered that the bottom of the pendulum was BENT to hold the pendulum in place in the absence of the lost screw. We were told to keep all broken items and create a list for each. That became impossible, since almost every box included something broken (from screws missing for tables to the cap missing on a lawn mower tank.)

Bekins did send a repair man to evaluate the damage, but they never agreed to send him back to do the actual repairs (e.g.: on a damaged $3,500 painting frame or a chest of drawers with a broken leg). I could go on and on, but what I have written is enough. I received 3 quotes from 3 moving companies, and Bekins were in the high middle. What sold me was their professional sales person. It turned out that our past moves with United were far, far better. We never had to file a claim before, and this time, though we are filing a claim, we will never recoup our loses.

DO NOT hire this company to help you move! We used Bekins to move from Long Beach, CA to Michigan. At first things seemed to go ok despite the packers refusing to wear masks (this was in the height of Covid last September). Little did I know, only some of our items were being loaded on to the moving truck. When the truck arrived in Michigan there were several items missing. When I say several, I mean over $3,000 worth of men's clothing and a large container of loose change I would conservatively estimate to be $300. I would've never guessed someone would steal pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters but sure enough... it disappeared.

I immediately reached out to Bekins to express my frustration and unhappiness and they agreed to do a "trace". Of course they did not find anything because my belongings never made it onto the moving truck! Now we have filed a claim and they have denied it because it was 1 day late. Someone working for Bekins stole my belongings and now Bekins will not do anything about it. Like I said, DO NOT use this company... their employees can't be trusted and neither can anyone in management.

I have used Bekins ever since my first move when I was just a young lad, this move was nothing but the same, had a local move to Bekins of South Florida & was headed out of state, from the moment the Surveyor Christian came out till the time Joe dropped off our belongings it was a delightful experience. The company is very informative & stood out amongst all the others, from breaking down and explaining each process to seeing it in motion with the crew, I am not looking forward to moving again but if I was to do so, Bekins is my company.

Bekins is a Great company and Drivers were incredible and the customer service manager Scott ** went above and beyond. If Christian ** is your salesperson RUN. He will mislead you and tell you what you want to hear. Everything I was told over and over again he very clearly repeated and we totally understood each other. The day the Delivery drivers picked up my stuff they were very professional and took great care of my daughters belongings. 2 Hours after they leave I get a call that changed everything. My delivery Date was going to be at least 7 days later than Christan Promised and needless to say I was PISSED and would have cancelled but it was too late at that point.

This is when Christian kept saying we must have had miscommunications so that he could cover his butt. I stopped speaking with him at that point and started dealing with Scott ** from Customer Service and as upset as I was with Bekins he was very professional and understood my anger but it was out of his hands as well so I made the best of it and he stayed in touch with me pretty much daily. When the Drivers delivered my daughters Belongings again they were very professional and careful with everything and placed the Furniture and Boxes where they were supposed to go. So if you ever need a Great Moving Company I would highly recommend Bekins of South Florida only if Christian ** is not your Salesperson. HE CAN'T BE TRUSTED and should not be employed to work for Bekins unless he is retrained.

Bekins Van Lines moved us from Vancouver, WA to Arizona in 2014. As far as I know, we didn't lose anything. It just took months to find stuff in all those moving boxes. Overall a great moving company.

If you want to overpay, have them not show up on time, damage all your personal belongings, not own up to any insurance claims or take any responsibility then Bekins Moving company is the right moving company for you. Beware of this company, do not use them if you want the worst experience ever in moving. I used them for a long haul move and it was a disaster from beginning to end.

A-1. Their packing was very good, timing was excellent. Employees did a neat job, and as a result for the first time no breakage, and no “missing items.” the truck was punctual in picking up as well as the final delivery, good job!!!!

Updated on 08/22/2020: I wrote a review about my CD's missing Aug 13 and I need to adjust that review. I had a friend help me pack for the move. He thought it would be funny if he took my CD's to see how long it would take me to realize they were missing!!! NOT FUNNY!!! So, I must apologize to Bekins for suggesting that they had taken my CD's. They still destroyed my coffee table and took some things apart for no apparent reason and lost the parts.

Original Review: Bekins Van Lines moved me in July. They picked up my "stuff" on Tuesday and delivered on Wednesday. They busted up my coffee table beyond repair. Today Aug 13, I was picking out a CD to play and the plastic container was empty! I proceeded to look at my other CDs and I found over 62 CD containers empty!!!! They stole over $1000 of CDs!! I also found a foot locker that was empty when it had some small tools in it. They also took things apart that did not need to be taken apart and the screws and parts are missing. DO NOT hire Bekins Van Lines in Woodbridge, VA!!!! I have called them several times about these issues and they will not call me back!!!! They are the worst moving company I have ever used. If you care about your "stuff", don't hire them!!!!

I recently relocated to Baton Rouge Louisiana from LUBBOCK Texas, and contracted through our local Hart Moving company who arranged a long distance van from Bekins-Wheaton to pick our home belongings on May 15 2020. Delivery was made May 20th, and a very expensive piece of astronomy equipment was inadvertently left on the truck. I have been in phone and text contact with the driver, a "Rocky" ** of the San Antonio area, multiple times to try and arrange to get my equipment back. "Rocky" has repeatedly lied to my face, made up excuses and strung me along now for a month.

I made a special effort to be at home last evening when he had again promised to show up, but he was once again a no-show. He has since failed to respond to texts or calls. This unprofessional and frankly passive-agressive behavior is humiliating and unacceptable. If you value your possessions and want to have a decent experience with your move, AVOID THIS COMPANY. I REPEAT; AVOID THIS COMPANY.

If you are looking for a reputable moving company may I recommend you keep looking???? This company is TOTALLY unethical! Let me tell you about MY experience! My husband and I spent almost $16,000 to be moved from Texas to North Carolina. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer the DAY before we moved. We immediately began treatments at Duke Cancer center which delayed my unpacking as I had much more important things to worry about. Sadly my husband passed away a few weeks ago.

In looking through our paperwork with Bekins it states that you have one year from the date of your move to file a claim - BUT what they DON'T tell you is UPON DELIVERY when YOU SIGN RECEIPT OF DELIVERY YOU ARE STATING YOU HAVE RECEIVED EVERYTHING AND THEY ARE NO LONGER RESPONSIBLE!!!! How can anyone expect you to sign stating you have received everything before you have even opened the first box???? We were missing several valuable items and they have refused to pay one cent! I cannot stress enough to you that I would never use or recommend this company in any way!!! The movers walked off with our belonging and they aren't responsible???? On top of that some of our furnishing was damaged and they refuse to cover that either. Please, do yourself a favor and keep looking for a trustworthy moving company. Never will I use these people again!

We had many preventable problems that arose by Bekins personnel undoing wrapping, overstuffing a truck, not following contracted directions and using drugs. The claims process is one of pass the ball and sign away your rights. Instead of being helpful it seems designed to shift from one person to the next. Example: the claim person cannot communicate about missing items. She simply sends me an email telling me to get in touch with yet another person. They try to get you to file one claim as it is better for them. What about me? Many of the numbers applied by the packing team were removed by others along the way of my interstate move.

We paid to have a soft sided hot tub used for my arthritis to be wrapped and shipped flat with nothing on top. It arrived on its side, unwrapped with boxes on top. Broken!! Bekins personnel unwrapped the blankets, boxes and other protective wrapping we paid to have applied to our things when the packing was done by Bekins personnel at our home. Removal of that wrapping also removed the numbers. This made it nearly impossible to track what was derived against the numbered roster. This was done to stuff more things into an overcrowded truck. We never received calls as promised about when the delivery was coming. More wasted time for us.

When the driver did finally arrive around noon, there was not sufficient help for the move (as we had been promised there would be). The driver only had one helper. This helper reeked of ** and in fact continued to smoke ** throughout the offloading process. When I reported this to Mary ** she said ”I have no proof”. I reported this because the helper was very rough with our possessions including throwing things around in the truck. I was also concerned that he would hurt himself. Mary did not seem concerned. I am not aware that ** is legal in Florida.

The driver was not aware of the two parts of the move to a house and storage unit. Details which had been provided to Bekins and its representatives again and again. The damage that has occurred was avoidable. It was quite apparent that the driver (or other Bekins personnel) had unwrapped many of the carefully wrapped items in order to stuff more in the truck. Furniture that we paid to have wrapped in blankets then in shrink wrapped and often labeled as fragile arrived without the blankets and occasionally in shrink wrap. Numbers of items were removed by this unwrapping process.

My golf clubs which were boxed at our home were unwrapped and bent into shrink wrap. A chrome table which was carefully wrapped in blankets then shrink wrapped not only had the blankets removed but several boxes had been stuffed between its shelves scratching and damaging the surface. There were not enough people to offload the truck. The ladder used to unload was rickety and too short necessitating one of the two men offloading to climb up into the truck on top of all the boxes and other items further crushing them!

The “walls” sequestering the items of one person from another were ineffective sheets of plywood which were hanging over in the truck. In fact, we were given another person’s items which we gave back to the driver. At the end of the second location offloading we were missing a large rug and pad. I looked up and saw it in another section of the truck with another person's items. We persuaded the driver to get them but find this absolutely horrible considering what we were promised. And items of ours remain missing. We were also to have received the weight of the shipment but have not even yet received those numbers. Bekins says they are a top company which holds themselves to a higher standard, taking care of customers every step of the way, does background checks on employees... I experienced none of this. I give them the top moving nightmare award!!

This was my 3rd move across the country. Previously, I’ve used Allied Vans which was outstanding. To save a few dollars, I chose Bekins. Huge and costly mistake from start to finish!!! They would not give me move out dates unless I paid an additional $150.00 as well as final destination dates. This caused me to spend more on hotel and airfare. The movers at my final destination just dropped boxes and furniture wherever they wished without me inspecting anything. Then I had to remind them over and over to send my $100.00 rebate. Don’t waste your money buying insurance. You won’t get a penny out of these scammers for damages. I highly recommend Allied to anyone going through a long distance move, Allied is very professional.

Do NOT recommend Bekins which is now owned by another enterprise, apparently. Too many bad experiences to list. When a company cannot track the truck in route with a driver who took a detour with my items and was out of contract, to trying to get information or a sense of accountability from corporate or agent, to broken items, to complete lack of response by corporate, etc, etc. In addition, I’m out of pocket hundreds of dollars for their delayed delivery and my work schedule and daycare costs. BAD BUSINESS!!

Horrible from start to finish. Bekins admitted from day one that they were at fault, but due to a lack of customer service and the inability of Bekins employees to speak to one another, we got hosed. Nothing like spending thousands of dollars on a move and the be treated like somebody who never spent a dime there. Avoid this company, and its parent company - Wheaton Van Lines - who handle their customer complaints. They are only interested in your $$$ and have the customer service skills of a burnt out 40 year old working the drive thru just before closing.

We used Bekins Van Lines to pack, store and deliver our entire household. We had a Bekins representative come to our home to determine to pack and crate. Our large sofa was not discussed. We took out the maximum insurance they offered. Several articles delivered were broken or lost. Our large sofa was broken and the wool fabric torn. We had it appraised for possible repair and recovering at their request. They then asked us to find a similar sofa and fabric online with prices and send to them - which we did. They then had a company they work with come and take the sofa to see if they could repair and recover the sofa. What we heard from them was we should have crated the sofa before moving and they would not reimburse us even though we were insured. This company is not to be trusted!

Exceedingly poor service! Do not use this company Bekins. They have non-existent customer service. Gerald ** of Mover Dudes and Debbie ** Bekins Claims Department in particular does no follow-up to any questions or concerns. They sold us the regular insurance and we took out the extra insurance additional fees for full replacement value. They dropped our TV and broke it and would not cover ANY of the cost. Warning, be cautious!

Contracted Pro Relo, a subsidiary of Bekins for a "No Excuses" $10,000.00 move from ABQ. 483 boxes. 22 pages of inventory. On 11 of 22 pages they wrote Pbo...packed by owner. We DID NOT PACK A SINGLEBOX. Wheatons unpacked us. An employee drove his dolly across our Sub Zero frig AND freezer. $2,000 just to replace skins and handles. Turned in claim #**. Bekins added $809.99 for extra weight but never presented a weight ticket. Van damaged across the street property, we fixed, no cost to Wheatons. CLAIM STILL NOT SETTLED AFTER 1.5 YEARS. MoVEE Beware of MoVER. Do not use either co or trust Bekins to compensate you even when pics and quotes are provided!!!!!!!

This review is specific to Bekins Transfer & Storage located at 201 Windsor Road, Pottstown, PA 19464. I contracted with Bekins for my June move from Philadelphia to Denver based on prior experience. This was a disaster from start to finish. The sub-contractor they used claimed to be the consummate professional, turned out he was anything but. My belongings were delivered to a storage unit here in Denver. I had reported to Bekins the condition of many of the boxes I’d received, crushed and severely damaged. I did not have the opportunity to inspect all of my belongings when they were delivered. I just moved and all of my belongings were taken from storage to my new apartment.

Virtually every piece of furniture has been scratched or damaged. Pieces of my dresser had broken off and were put into a drawer. My two stereo racks have significant scratches and broken corners. The bookcase has several scratches. My four dining chairs look as though they were dragged across the floor. There were scratches and marks all over my two steel desk frames, it took me hours to get rid of them. It would be easier to list what hasn’t been damaged, since that would be virtually nothing.

I have to say, I have never in all my years and a dozen moves seen results like this. It is clear that no care was taken with my belongings. I should have known, since they didn’t use a single blanket, pad, or any shrink wrap when loading and unloading. The "professional" mover criticized my packing and blamed the boxes (Home Deport heavy duty), but the only things that weren’t damaged were the items that I packed myself.

This experience has been the exact opposite of my prior move with Bekins, and they should be embarrassed by this. I've subsequently emailed them and, not surprisingly, have not had any reply. I have one or two moves left in my life, needless to say Bekins will not be considered. I’ve told all of my friends to avoid Bekins at all costs going forward.

I was a driver for Bekin and we had them move us. I think it was okay because we worked for them. I know when we moved people we were very careful and had alot of Big Wig accounts that we had to take care of properly and to me it didn't make a difference if you were the president or just a normal joe, I always took pride in doing the best job possible. I think they now have a different name I actually think they are part of the Paul Arpin family now.

All this company is interested in is taking your money. If you think your items are in good, professional hands, you are completely wrong. I had the worst experience; my shipment was lost; arrived over a week late; they lost a tv stand; I had full value replacement and they would not honor the replacement value because I didn't have the original receipt; I wrote and called people daily; they forgot to pick up my items the day they were scheduled; no one ever gets back to you; I wrote complaint letters - no one care; no response ever. Find another company. If I could put no stars down I would. This one is HORRIBLE.

Moving from Goldsboro NC to Wilmington, NC they did not put things together as we were told they would. There were expensive quilting stuff stole and torn all to pieces. We paid big money to get our things insured for damages, but with all the expensive equipment torn to hell they refuse to pay to get it replaced or fixed. There was over $18,000 in damages. Antiques were destroyed. Things broke and people like that should be held accountable. There is a special place for people like that. My husband had just passed and because they moved air force people they were recommended to us because we were retired military. I would not let them move anything. People stay away from these thefts.

I was hospitalized 2 weeks before my move. So, I was not able to pack all my belongings. I was told that they would do that for me, but they did not pack anything. They just left it. This was a long distance move from NY to GA. They arrived a few minutes before I left for the airport. Someone I knew stayed behind to make sure they did the job. Unbeknownst to me, I was told the movers just omitted whatever they did not want, to take even though that item like my washer and dryer were on their list, to move. They left that behind and a whole lot more. I had shelving and a fabric bolt that didn't even make the truck, as well because it was in the basement. After, living 7 months, in a hotel I was shocked, as I unpacked, I began to notice that a lot of my belongings were gone. As a disabled, single mother this was a major loss for me. I have yet to replace those things.

We used Bekins for a small move to a storage locker where they came in, wrapped everything and appeared to do a good job until items were moved, lots of scratches!!! We used them to move a small number of items from the storage locker, a couple of beds, living room furniture, gym equipment and some boxes. Terrible!! They did not wrap any furniture so my white couches (yes I know, but they had been moved before and stayed mostly clean) had filthy, filthy hand prints all over them.

As we were moving into a new house still filled with trades, I was distracted with questions from our electrician at the time of paying my bill and gave the Bekins fellow my credit card, which he put thru. I was shocked to see, on a 5 hour moving job with 3 fellows (value of just over $1100) an insurance fee of $440.00 which I never authorized. This was not mentioned when I called for a quote, which I discussed over the phone and approved the hourly fee, nor was it brought to my attention when I paid the bill. I would not have ever bought the insurance. When I called the company they basically said "too bad". This insurance is a scam!! When I mentioned the very filthy hand prints the guy just laughed. I will never use this company again.

I’m not sure whether another awful review makes any difference or not, but I have to get this off my chest. My wife and I have moved across country six times and I can state unequivocally that this most recent move was almost unbelievably terrible. Among other things, although we had signed a contract to move almost a year earlier, when the time came and our house finally closed, our agent announced that he could not supply us with any packers! So it fell upon my wife and me to pack up a 4500 square-foot home, even though we were now living almost 3000 miles away. In the midst of all this, we had a family medical crisis, so we essentially had to walk away from dozens of items, cumulatively worth thousands of dollars. The folks who bought our old house were more than happy to keep it all.

When the truck driver and his crew arrived, virtually every item that they loaded was described as scratched, dented, faded, cracked, worn. So when the time came to unpack, there was no way to verify any damage. We had family heirlooms that were broken; when I submitted a request for reimbursement, the sum that was provided was paltry to say the least. I submitted a claim to their “customer service representative,” describing all of the above. She was completely indifferent. She sent me a check with no hint of an apology. I sent the check back with an even longer letter, then got the same check back with, once again, no apology. I sent copies of my correspondence with Bekins to the Better Business Bureau of Indiana and also of Washington state. Lord knows it probably won’t make any difference. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Bekins.
