I have had this Insurance company since 2019. The cost of the Insurance goes up every year. I have never filed a claim until recently for a roof repair 08/31/2025. The Insurance adjuster came out and said I have 4 wind-blown shingles. The whole roof needs to be replaced. I have water damage on my ceiling in the kitchen, living room, and bathroom due to my roof leaking.
The Insurance adjuster told me my policy doesn’t cover any leak repairs on the inside. They issued me a 9.36 check. Wow! I requested another adjuster to come since I felt the previous adjuster failed to adequately access the damage. I received an email from the supervisor stating that the review of my claim is accurate. Which that is not what I requested. I will be filing a complaint with North Carolina Insurance State Department of Insurance and the Better Business Bureau. Kevin ** the supervisor needs to be fired. He is just as incompetent, if not more so, than the unqualified adjusters that work for him.
This particular company gladly takes your money and happily denies your claim because the adjusters get a kickback or bonus depending on how much money they can save the company. Total sham. I will be looking for another Insurance Company as promptly as I can. I will no longer shell out my hard-earned money to a company like this anymore and I suggest you do the same. There needs to be some sort of regulation to prevent these Insurance companies from taking advantage of consumers. After reviewing my policy, I noted a clause in there that specifically states you are unable to sue them. I suppose that is in there because the Insurance Company is aware of how they are handling claims insufficiently that consumers file due to loss. This company doesn’t even deserve one star, but I had to give it something to leave this review. Come to find out, after looking at the reviews, they only have a one-star rating. I’m not surprised.

I'm done with Foremost, I had to file a claim a few years ago (I got a $300 check once they denied a bunch of stuff) then I pay for it with increased rates for 7 years, so the $$ I got for repairs was made up on the back side of my policy increase...INCREASE, INCREASE, INCREASE.!.. YET less is covered.... Now I am dropping them, and since my new agent with the new company misunderstood my policy end date June 23rd vs June 27th, now my refund check from foremost will be $100 less due to a fee they charge for canceling your policy early..Jesus, YOU JUST COULDN'T PART WAYS WITHPUT SCREWIMG ME, COULD YOU!!?? Foremost is only one step above no insurance at all and not a very big step at that. If you're looking for insurance look elsewhere if you have already made the mistake like me of already having a policy CANCEL!! I had Two properties both storm damaged in Illinois State Farm paid 90% of loss Foremost 25%. I canceled as soon as I had cashed the miserly check. It cost me $8000.00 out of pocket.

I had both car and homeowner's insurance with them. I never filed a claim. My premiums nearly doubled and my agent found me a much more reasonable company and cancelled both policies with them, They refunded my car insurance, but not my homeowner's which is a lot of money. They owe me $1,651. I have written them but nothing yet. I will not take this lying down! Avoid this company, they are shady and expensive.

This company is horrible. Not only are their rates extremely high, they cancelled the insurance for one of my houses due to my not responding to a letter that I didn't receive, but that turned out ok as State Farm was significantly less expensive. Now, when I sold the home still insured by them, they are making it difficult for me to cancel. I have nothing good to say about them!

If you want to get a refund for the cost of the insurance you haven't used for the remaining months, DON'T USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY, because they won't refund your money. I sold my house in August of 2024, and I should still have more than $1,200 for the unused months that needed to be refunded, now it has been six months, and I haven't gotten the refund.
In the past six months, I have called them more than 10 times with and without the insurance agent to the customer service of Foremost Insurance. They always say that there is something wrong with their system and ask me to be patient with the same excuse every time, which makes me think that they don't want to refund the money at all. This is not legal. I am still trying to get them to refund me my money, if I can't receive my money within this month, I will report to the relevant authorities that they illegally withheld the cost of my unused insurance. There is a reason why all people only give ONE STAR to this insurance company.
Originally, I called Farmer's Insurance broker to buy the insurance, but the insurance broker brought me this Foremost insurance, and he told me these two companies are the same company. Now I think I was scammed into buying the insurance that not many people want to buy due to so many ONE STAR and bad reviews of this insurance company, therefore, they put pressure on brokers to sell Foremost insurance without customers' knowledge. The advice is to be sure to see clearly which insurance company you bought. Don't fall for it or you'll regret it.

Horrible customer service. Be sure to make sure you cancel with evidence because they charged me when I didn't have auto pay. It was such trauma dealing with these people and trying to get help after a propane fire. We had to hire someone to help us which cost additional money. Don't even consider these crooks.

This insurance is essentially a scam. We have a rental property that was affected by Hurricane Helene in Western NC. It was not flooded. We have specific insurance to protect us from lost rent in the event of a natural disaster. Our tenant lost her job indefinitely due to the storm. The water lines in the community were mangled, and it will be months before things are back to normal. There was no power for 2.5 weeks.
Foremost denied our claim, stating the home was "livable." The representative was uncaring, and it felt like she put zero effort into getting our claim approved. She pretty much said anyone can living in a house with no power and water, it's not an issue. We will be switching companies immediately. We were paying for insurance that covers loss of rent. We were told this would be covered by the agent, and we are getting $0.

I'm a 19 year customer with Foremost and I canceled them today because of the way I was treated by adjuster Hayden **. He was the 2nd adjuster assigned to my claim. The first adjuster came in person to evaluate the tornado damage to my property. He didn't ask me to provide receipts for any of the damaged items. Hayden ** demanded that I provide receipts for all of the subsequent damages. I feel that I was cheated by Hayden **. So they lost a 19 year customer with absolutely no claims made because of Hayden **'s chinciness.

Here is my (last) correspondence w/ this horrific company: 'Amazing! Your website (still) crap. Your customer service (really) crap! Needing to figure out which website to pull up and which phone number to call to which some claim 'closed' in the A.M. instructing to call back during business hours (which are not disclosed). Ergo illegitimate numbers.
Try to pull up policy info and needed to speak to crap agent who knew nothing (with a bad attitude) who instructed me to pull up a 'PDF' just to see my policy and all the pages were BLANK. Part of the reason I stay w/this ridiculous company is to check out all the (new & old) problems you incur upon innocent customers so they can be released to the consumer blogs helping your ratings to; "Foremost Homeowners Reviews '1.6' " (1 1/2 stars). (And) looks like that was the best one. So, Kudos to a great job! Not only do you still suck but apparently 'suck the most'! How do you people sleep at night? Prerequisite to employment there must be '0' conscience.' ---
*Yes, they did have me PO'ed yet again as w/ every contact (or attempt). Universal problem is obvious. There are hardly any ins. co.'s that will insure mobile homes anymore which I have questioned to U.S. and state reps before (who do not live in such so do not care). So people, I realize everything is (designed) to be a hassle these days but we must unite in some way to combat these bureaucratic misfits that profit on our misery.
Once there are enough complaints to the right sources as 'The Attorney General's Office' (via Consumer Protection Agency, etc.) the pressure builds on them and especially if needing litigation these files back up your claim, etc. Personally I keep their contacts available on my files because (you know) you will need them time and again. And yes, a quick email to your district representatives becomes way more worthy when they see many of the same as you know all (they) care about is 'votes' which keeps them their cushy office. You know, like the votes they 'think' they will get by destroying our borders and releasing the 'worlds worst' upon us all. If these career politicians fear losing those (votes) and the thought of having to go out and get a (real) job keeps them awake at night. In this case more is definitely 'more'.
Political votes for those less involved w/ these bureaucracies also helps us (all). Seems mighty obvious (now) who is in bed w/ big business (Big Tech, Big Pharma, etc.) and spending all (our) money so they profit and we hemorrhage daily. Determine who was in office when things were better for 'you' and (not) their own inside trading, big pharma, 'non-profit' coalitions and promoting continual wars (to profit) on as well while (we) the people bite the dust. Everything is related right now except (our) prosperity.

USAA kicked me over to Foremost for mobile home insurance approximately 30 years ago. I have paid the premiums on time for 30 years and never filed a claim even though we had damage to the mobile home, sheds, animal housing, and fencing from both Hurricane Irma and Ian. The mobile home roof was damaged from Ian, a large tree branch made an L shaped tear in the metal roof and supporting structure about 2' x 3' which I fixed myself.
Since Foremost staff is incompetent, as was my experience after contacting them after Irma when I got 3 different stories and conflicting information about filing a claim from 3 different people-1 customer service rep and 2 field adjusters-, I said to heck with that, also considering if the claim had been approved we would have gotten maybe a few hundred dollars after the deductible. And after Ian I decided to just fix the roof rather than deal with insurance reps or questionable repair companies, after a lifetime of lies and bad service I no longer trust 1 human on this planet.
A few months ago I received a letter from Foremost announcing they would not be renewing my policy on 4/1/24 due to risk. Humans are such an arrogant species, they deny global warming for decades, like all that pollution going into the air the past few hundred years that didn't exist before, is not going to affect things. Now that the effects of global warming are actually causing problems this society allows their government to allow corporations to essentials rob the general public by cancelling insurance. How many mansions at the beach have our premiums paid to rebuild? How many times have planning departments allowed development in high hazard areas?
Back in 2019 Lee County Solid Waste wanted to put a Waste Transfer Station essentially on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River at 4-8 feet elevation in the FEMA High Hazard Area. Something that needs to be operating the day after a hurricane needs to be put at the highest elevation possible. Our community group board met with South Florida Water Management District, Lee Division of Natural Resources, and FDEP, and none of them brought FEMA maps to the meetings but I did, and when we pointed out that this project was proposed for the High Hazard Area Lee County did not pursue it. So a hysterical housewife with a high school education has to educate the college educated professionals and get them to do the right thing. Makes my skin crawl.
I resent the fact I was a good customer and that I was screwed out of 30 years of premiums for nothing. Humans and our societies exhibit an extremely poor example of critical thinking skills and the abusive culture that corporate criminals assault the general public with is unacceptable. Glad the mortgage is paid off, I would hate to be forced to buy insurance from the last resort, the Floriduh State backed option that is currently under Federal investigation. And people wonder why I am misanthropic.

Overpriced policy by at least twice as much. Absolutely nasty representatives, unprofessional, slow in processes. Don’t waste your time, money and energy on this place. I needed temporary insurance coverage for the business. When it came to canceling the policy it’s apparently going to take them 2-3 weeks with representative mentioning possible 4-6 weeks to reimbursement the money. Refused to do a refund to the card I used—only by check apparently. Representative tried to collect additional personal information which wasn’t provided to them when I signed up for the policy since it was under business to begin with.

It should be illegal for insurance companies to drop you suddenly. After years of paying our home insurance on time and never having any claims, they decide they are done and sent us a non renewal. If I could give them zero stars, I would. They are scam artists who do anything possible to not pay out on claims. In fact, they fraudulently cancelled my policy 3 months after I renewed. They cancelled my policy conveniently 24 hours after a wind storm hit my area, and claimed it was because they didn’t cover duplexes anymore. That is odd because they never sent myself, the mortgage company, nor the independent insurance agent a letter of cancelation. Long story short, they cancelled the policy 24 hours after the wind storm, and I called 48 hours after the storm to file a claim, and they told me I was cancelled without notice even though I had literally just renewed my policy.

We made roofing repairs to make sure it was insurable including the roof, coverage written with no exceptions, requested hard copy of policy, have yet to receive a copy of the entire policy, hail damage, wind and rain to the point it entered and damage the interior ceiling. Claim filed, we were to secure the property, tarped the roof and removed the trees off of roof, agent 1could not see light from interior to determine where water came from therefore no coverage for damage, tarp was on the roof, not enough damage to cover the 950 deductible, claimed she was not permitted to remove the tarp despite not asking the two people we hired to be there to remove. Adjuster 2 comes to same conclusion and it has been a battle ever since, 4 months later.

I currently have a claim with Foremost Insurance. It’s been awful. My home burned July 20th. It’s November 27th and I still have no idea when they’re going to pay. They have not disputed any part of my claim but they moved my claim about the time the adjuster told me he’d have me a check in a couple of days to a more seasoned adjuster. Had to answer all questions again, fill out new inventory and wait. And wait.
Then my seasoned adjuster told me his peer review had determine my statements. Should have been done in person so I’d have to sit with their attorney and that I was welcome to bring my own counsel! That’s been almost 3 weeks ago and I’m still waiting. The adjuster told me he’d had files on his desk over a year!!! HOW DO THEY EXPECT SOMEONE TO TAKE A TOTAL LOSS AND WAIT A YEAR? It seems obvious that they will drag this out for as long as possible. I’ve learned to expect delays and make sure you have enough insurance to cover the 30% you’ll have to pay an attorney to get anything out of your claim.

I have had AARP Foremost home insurance for years. I just recently submitted a claim. I replaced my swamp cooler but also had to pay for damage the previous one had done to my roof. I submitted all the evidence. I was just told this morning that they weren't going to cover the roof damage because my roof had always been that way. How did he come to that? He had a Google image of my roof from a few years ago also showing some discoloration. Never mind checking to see if there'd been more damage since, and the most recent repairs made to my roof.
You'd think since I have this through AARP that they would be more human to seniors but no. They're one big sleazy racket, capitalizing off their clients' hard-earned money and highly skilled in making sure they never get anything in return. SO boringly redundant! Most of the ratings I've read here are also very low, so I don't understand why their ratings are still so high! I don't want insurance with this company anymore, so I I'll drop them as soon as I can.
