USAA kicked me over to Foremost for mobile home insurance approximately 30 years ago. I have paid the premiums on time for 30 years and never filed a claim even though we had damage to the mobile home, sheds, animal housing, and fencing from both Hurricane Irma and Ian. The mobile home roof was damaged from Ian, a large tree branch made an L shaped tear in the metal roof and supporting structure about 2' x 3' which I fixed myself.
Since Foremost staff is incompetent, as was my experience after contacting them after Irma when I got 3 different stories and conflicting information about filing a claim from 3 different people-1 customer service rep and 2 field adjusters-, I said to heck with that, also considering if the claim had been approved we would have gotten maybe a few hundred dollars after the deductible. And after Ian I decided to just fix the roof rather than deal with insurance reps or questionable repair companies, after a lifetime of lies and bad service I no longer trust 1 human on this planet.
A few months ago I received a letter from Foremost announcing they would not be renewing my policy on 4/1/24 due to risk. Humans are such an arrogant species, they deny global warming for decades, like all that pollution going into the air the past few hundred years that didn't exist before, is not going to affect things. Now that the effects of global warming are actually causing problems this society allows their government to allow corporations to essentials rob the general public by cancelling insurance. How many mansions at the beach have our premiums paid to rebuild? How many times have planning departments allowed development in high hazard areas?
Back in 2019 Lee County Solid Waste wanted to put a Waste Transfer Station essentially on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River at 4-8 feet elevation in the FEMA High Hazard Area. Something that needs to be operating the day after a hurricane needs to be put at the highest elevation possible. Our community group board met with South Florida Water Management District, Lee Division of Natural Resources, and FDEP, and none of them brought FEMA maps to the meetings but I did, and when we pointed out that this project was proposed for the High Hazard Area Lee County did not pursue it. So a hysterical housewife with a high school education has to educate the college educated professionals and get them to do the right thing. Makes my skin crawl.
I resent the fact I was a good customer and that I was screwed out of 30 years of premiums for nothing. Humans and our societies exhibit an extremely poor example of critical thinking skills and the abusive culture that corporate criminals assault the general public with is unacceptable. Glad the mortgage is paid off, I would hate to be forced to buy insurance from the last resort, the Floriduh State backed option that is currently under Federal investigation. And people wonder why I am misanthropic.

Overpriced policy by at least twice as much. Absolutely nasty representatives, unprofessional, slow in processes. Don’t waste your time, money and energy on this place. I needed temporary insurance coverage for the business. When it came to canceling the policy it’s apparently going to take them 2-3 weeks with representative mentioning possible 4-6 weeks to reimbursement the money. Refused to do a refund to the card I used—only by check apparently. Representative tried to collect additional personal information which wasn’t provided to them when I signed up for the policy since it was under business to begin with.

A dishwasher purging water into our kitchen causing thousands of dollars of damage to the floors and cabinets was not covered. Despite my policy saying leaks from appliances are covered, I'm forced to file a lawsuit against Foremost to get their attention. Some of the worst people I've ever encounter work here.

It should be illegal for insurance companies to drop you suddenly. After years of paying our home insurance on time and never having any claims, they decide they are done and sent us a non renewal. Now we have to find new insurance coverage. Seems they are fine to take money if they think they will never have to pay out on any claims, but if they decide there is an any risk they are happy to abandon you.

They told us our porch needed to be replaced and our trees needed to be cut down. We took a loan out and spend $14000 dollars to get this done. Insurance still got canceled and they told us the truth was not the porch nor trees but afraid from fires our town had last year. They didn’t care about the expense they made us spend and hoped that we wouldn’t get it done. They said the truth is we don’t want to insure anyone with anyone that has any kind of high risk!

If I could give them zero stars, I would. They are scam artists who do anything possible to not pay out on claims. In fact, they fraudulently cancelled my policy 3 months after I renewed. They cancelled my policy conveniently 24 hours after a wind storm hit my area, and claimed it was because they didn’t cover duplexes anymore. That is odd because they never sent myself, the mortgage company, nor the independent insurance agent a letter of cancelation. Long story short, they cancelled the policy 24 hours after the wind storm, and I called 48 hours after the storm to file a claim, and they told me I was cancelled without notice even though I had literally just renewed my policy.

Foremost insurance was not horrible at customer service. It was just nonexistent. One day after a few years with this company I received a cancellation letter out of the blue. Now understanding why this is so poorly rated! Can’t emphasize the unprofessional nature of the service, agents, and more. Please look at every option first before reducing your standards and going with a rock bottom company such as this.

We made roofing repairs to make sure it was insurable including the roof, coverage written with no exceptions, requested hard copy of policy, have yet to receive a copy of the entire policy, hail damage, wind and rain to the point it entered and damage the interior ceiling. Claim filed, we were to secure the property, tarped the roof and removed the trees off of roof, agent 1could not see light from interior to determine where water came from therefore no coverage for damage, tarp was on the roof, not enough damage to cover the 950 deductible, claimed she was not permitted to remove the tarp despite not asking the two people we hired to be there to remove. Adjuster 2 comes to same conclusion and it has been a battle ever since, 4 months later.

Shop elsewhere if you are looking for customer service. Had two separate issues:
2) Had my policy cancelled due to bush touching the premises. Note this is a well kept $500K property. I did find a bush that had a 1/4' of contact but by the time I called to obtained clarification it was too late. Not to mentioned that I was scolded by customer service agent that is was my responsibility to read insurance requirements. I own several rentals and have been a homeowner for over 20 years and have never experienced anything like this.

I currently have a claim with Foremost Insurance. It’s been awful. My home burned July 20th. It’s November 27th and I still have no idea when they’re going to pay. They have not disputed any part of my claim but they moved my claim about the time the adjuster told me he’d have me a check in a couple of days to a more seasoned adjuster. Had to answer all questions again, fill out new inventory and wait. And wait.
Then my seasoned adjuster told me his peer review had determine my statements. Should have been done in person so I’d have to sit with their attorney and that I was welcome to bring my own counsel! That’s been almost 3 weeks ago and I’m still waiting. The adjuster told me he’d had files on his desk over a year!!! HOW DO THEY EXPECT SOMEONE TO TAKE A TOTAL LOSS AND WAIT A YEAR? It seems obvious that they will drag this out for as long as possible. I’ve learned to expect delays and make sure you have enough insurance to cover the 30% you’ll have to pay an attorney to get anything out of your claim.

I have had AARP Foremost home insurance for years. I just recently submitted a claim. I replaced my swamp cooler but also had to pay for damage the previous one had done to my roof. I submitted all the evidence. I was just told this morning that they weren't going to cover the roof damage because my roof had always been that way. How did he come to that? He had a Google image of my roof from a few years ago also showing some discoloration. Never mind checking to see if there'd been more damage since, and the most recent repairs made to my roof.
You'd think since I have this through AARP that they would be more human to seniors but no. They're one big sleazy racket, capitalizing off their clients' hard-earned money and highly skilled in making sure they never get anything in return. SO boringly redundant! Most of the ratings I've read here are also very low, so I don't understand why their ratings are still so high! I don't want insurance with this company anymore, so I I'll drop them as soon as I can.

Stay away from this company. From the top down it's structured in a way to extract maximum monetary gain from their customer while providing as little support as possible. They're structured like an onion. You peel layer after layer to get to the core that tells you you're not covered after a devastating storm. Or that you're being charged more than what's fair. Or they need you to do their job for them due to Covid. Or that no we won't work with you, because our company is structured in a way that demonstrates a lack of compassion towards human beings.
A derecho came through our area. Very devastating. I had 7 policies with Foremost at the time. Had. I paid them around $10k over nearly a 3 year period. The only time I filed a claim they left me hanging. Their adjuster found nearly $10k in damage to a property that had a few trees come down on and around it, and on the neighbor's house as well. Turns out my deductible is $2500 for Wind and Hail. This is frustrating because every time I signed up a policy with my agent was usually through email or phone, and I'd request a $1k deductible.
Apparently Foremost likes to sell "$1k deductibles" that are actually $1k for fire, and $2500 for wind and hail. Very unethical. So $10k in damage - $2500 deductible(I'm paying for $1k deductible though), and they're offering to pay $922 total claim. LOL! They're arguing that some of the $10k came from a different storm. They have no way of knowing this or proving this. It's just some bogus argument that they make to scam honest folks out of their insurance claim. So buyer beware.
Money paid to Foremost would be more effectively used as toilet paper. I've done my research by now. By far the best insurance company in my area is Country. My advice is go with a company that isn't trying to scam you. A company structured around treating humans with some semblance of compassion. Avoid Foremost at all costs. They're highly unethical and cold.

Foremost ins company is the worst organization I have ever had the displeasure of working with. I work in a hospital during this pandemic. Home should be the safe place to go. Not if Foremost is your company. They will take your money then lie and crap you out of any help on any type of repair. They should have any and all license they hold taken away immediately and their staff under a criminal investigation and review. It should not be legal for crooks like these to give you a legally binding contract to which your end is the only end to be held up to. Run as fast as you can and if you're looking for home ins please read all their reviews on several sites and please buyer beware. If I could give them negative stars I would. They probably didn’t earn the lousy couple they do have.

They will not cover any claims. They said we did not maintain our home when we had a water leak in the wall. I don't know how to you check inside your walls for leaks. They said we let the water leaks for months before reporting it. This is not true. We reported the leak as soon as we noticed it. Again how do you check for leaks in your walls. They tried to tell us this is standard practice with all insurance companies not to cover wall leaks. Great company if you want to give your hard earned money away.

I was out of town and hospitalized and my insurance lapsed by 2 DAYS. FOREMOST AARP would not reinstate my insurance and I had to have a new policy rewritten, for the same insurance the price was over $300.00 more a year. I have had insurance with Foremost for over 12 years at this location and never filed a claim. I have excellent credit, and feel I was taken advantage of by FOREMOST AARP. I had to drop the coverage amount by 30%, to get a similar premium as last year. They did have my age and gender and I feel FOREMOST AARP is taking advantage of women and the elderly.

I would like to warn Foremost customers and those looking to purchase insurance. My experience with Foremost isn't good. I purchased insurance 6 years ago thinking I was covered on my property. I didn't find out until I had a claim. The claim adjuster came out wrote the claim, then I am told a little later that the insurance agent wrote up my policy wrong. It was written up as a tenant policy whereas I didn't have any furniture in the mobile home when agent visited to inspect the home.
I appeal the denial of claim by Foremost. I was told that they would respond to me about my appeal, the 20 days passed. Had to call adjuster back asking why I hadn't received information about appeal. Foremost denied my appeal throwing it back on agent. My mistake was thinking that my agent and carrier (Foremost) were looking out for my best interest. They passed the buck so everyone can point fingers at others. Insurance is a necessary evil. So those with policies with Foremost are warned, and for those thinking about purchasing insurance beware.

My partner and I recently purchased an investment property that we plan to renovate and then rent out or occupy. Being long-time Geico customers, we decided to choose Foremost Insurance since it is a partner company. At first, all went smoothly. We were upfront about the repairs we were planning to do and the condition of the property (perfectly inhabitable, but in need of TLC). Having purchased our plan and paid our premium, we left town for a month on vacation and came home to a notice that the company had cancelled our policy.
The reasons for the cancellation were minor damage to the roof and the presence of appliances on the property, both of which the company had known about prior to our purchase. We never received so much as a phone call or email to inform us of the alleged issues with our coverage, and when I called after we had received the letter, I was told there was nothing they could do since the policy had been cancelled a week prior to my calling. The agent I spoke to recommended visiting someone local to discuss our situation and procure new insurance. I sincerely wish we had done so in the first place.

Had 5 properties on a policy. Added a 6th with the tenant wanting to know if they could have an above ground pool. I contacted my agent and she contacted Foremost and was told it was OK. I then allowed the above ground pool in a 2 year lease. I then get a notice that the pool would have to be removed or they were canceling my policy. My agent called back and went up the ladder and spoke to supervisors. She basically was told that "Small pools (up to 2 or 3 feet deep) were allowed" They are losing all of my properties of which the agent found comparable coverage for much less money. When I called, I got an "I'm sorry". No stars from me, but I had to give one to leave this review. Beware!!!

In January 2019, I made a payment over the automated system for $76.78. When I got my bank statement at the end of the month, their system removed $151.76 for January and February. I quickly called them up and told them what their system did and that I did make my payment ON TIME. I told them just to reimburse me $76.78 back into my account so all my checks I have already paid won't bounce. I told them to keep the other part of the amount and put it towards my January premium, it's that easy. She told me that was too confusing for her and billing, she said that she will just return back to my account the complete $151.78.
I told her that don't make sense since you already have the money in your possession, and that this is going to make my January payment late, she did it anyway. She said once I get the full amount back into my account, then I should call her up and make my Jan. pmt. I told her this is going to back up two months payment because it takes time for the bank to clear the amount and you caused me to be late on two months because I can't give you two months premiums out of one month, not enough money in account. I sent her the payment the second week in February to take care of January. I called her up to see if she got the money, she told me now I'm considered late in paying and still owe February.
I told her she caused all this mess making me late first because of her stupid automated payment recording taking $151. Instead of just the normal payment of 76.78, and secondly, reimbursing back into the account the full amount instead of just sending me back 76.78 and keeping the other amount for my January premium. They sent me a Cancellation of Insurance notice and that I must pay the full amount owed for February by March 29, 2019, or they will close my insurance. They also threatened me that they will call the credit company and the bank that holds my mortgage. I'm worried sick over losing my home because the bank will take it back, I have no place to live, I'm alone with no family to help me. I have to start looking for a new insurance real quick, no time to waste.
I have been with this company since I bought this house in 2004. All this was not my fault at all, but they don't care. My roof was damaged and water leaking on my ceilings from Hurricane Irma. They refused to pay for a new roof, told me the cause is an old roof with no maintenance, not true. I got a lawyer and he worked on the case for me and won the case. He made Foremost pay for the whole roof, paint my ceilings and pay lawyer's fees. This company won't pay for anything, they keep finding excuses why they don't have to pay, they are just good at taking a person's hard earned money real quick. Well, what goes around, comes around.

We had a very bad wind storm and I had some shingles blown off my roof and the skirting on my home was blown loose. I knew when I saw them in my yard. I called Foremost, and asked Bessie what to do and can they send someone out. She said for me to take pictures with my phone and send them to her. I tried, but my roof is black so nothing would show up. So I call Bessie again. Now she says for me to have someone come out and give me an estimate. I did, and the contractor sent them a bid.
Next thing I know, now they can send a live person out to look at my roof (which was what I asked for in the FIRST PLACE). So Steve the "live" adjuster says since I had some seals repaired on my roof, they will pay NOTHING for my roof. Did not even address the skirting issue. I have been with this company for 29 years and this was my second claim. ** poor treatment was given to me all the way around. We were insured by Farmers then turned over to the flunkies, Foremost. Had no warning of transfer. Have had Foremost for about 2 years, since I moved back to AZ to keep my house out of foreclosure, which was in Oct 2018, they have approved and canceled my policy 3 times. Every time it was something else that had to be done. I know when I came back, the outside was a mess, that has been totally cleaned up, not good enough. Then an incompetent inspector, reported that I have a garage door missing and has to be replaced, I don't and never had a garage.
Then I have to replace the roof on my PATIO, my patio does not have a roof. The roof they took a picture of is over a sun porch and another room, it has rolled roofing on it. The rest of the house has shingles. Then another boo boo was that there was some toys in the yard (two children live here), I really don't know where these idiots are from. We have had insurance with the 2 of them over 35 years, one claim, circuit breaker hit by lightning. Our payments have always been on time even when they increase price, for them doing nothing. Terrible insurance company. I had a small leak behind the wall in my laundry room. We found it when our subfloor started to bubble a little bit. They pretty much started to tell me that they were unlikely to cover it if it was old on the phone before showing up. The sheetrock was intact. There was a little mold that had begun to show. The floor was completely normal except that it had started to bubble. No mold, no rot, nothing. They said it was pre-existing and denied my claim. My cousin with a different company had almost the exact same thing happen and their company got them a hotel for 2 nights and got a water damage specialist in immediately. They were fixed and comfortable in 2 days. We are now having to do all of this ourselves. Don't use Foremost of Farmers. We are switching.
