I had a deeply unsatisfactory experience with Home Nation. The entire purchasing process has been a nightmare. Initially, they promised a 90-day offline date which got delayed by almost 60 days. This forced me into renting a camper and later a room, with all my belongings in storage. When they finally delivered the house on November 18th, the situation worsened. The siding was the wrong size, and despite repeated attempts to contact their warranty department, I received no timely support. I had to fill out a walk-through inspection form, and by the time I realized my walls were wet due to incomplete soffit installation, it was too late. This issue was aggravated when the fan over my stove poured water due to condensation. I've received no satisfactory resolution, and the contractor they supposedly assigned hasn’t shown up. Despite their communication, they've taken no action, leaving me with a possible rotting house and an uncertain living situation. Given this ordeal, I had no choice but to rate my experience with them at one star, hoping they address these issues for the sake of future customers.

We got the 14 x 52 Cobblestone floor plan after browsing pictures online and purchasing was also okay. The finance department was awesome and I couldn’t have asked for better financing situation. As far as communication though, the reps left a few things in the blind, but that’s normal. However, there were a few things that snowballed over. I got an acre lot and Home Nation was gonna let me use that for the down payment. It was also gonna let me have 12,000 for extras, for the finished work and everything else that needs to be done. They denied me on that. It ended up costing me $4,400 for the down payment.

I had to take money out of my 401(k) to make the payment, and they cut me down to $8,000 for the service work. That was gone with two people. It cost me extra money out of my pocket that I really wouldn't want to spend. Another thing is that the delivery was delayed. I started this operation about the last part of June last year and the trailer was supposed to be here about the end of October. I just got it January 5 and the installation is not quite done yet, but that's a different contractor that they recommended. They got their people that do this and I chose one of them. It's not been too bad, but it ain't been great either.

I'm not very happy with Home Nation. Their service, the responses and the finished work are terrible. There was no TLC involved and I can tell it was a fast Friday afternoon when they were working on the trailer. They said that the water lines were all pressure checked for 15 minutes with 18 pounds of pressure, but there's no way they could have done that because it wasn't sealed. Plus, underneath the trailer there where the water lines are to the bathroom sink, the plastic was cut. It looks like they were trying to do something about that, and it wasn't finished. The line in the bathroom sink wasn't hooked up to the sink, nor was it long enough to even go to the sink to be hooked up. It was just tucked away in there, and people wouldn't even see it until the water was turned on.

The hose to the dishwasher leaked a little as well, and one valve was turned clear open. With the washer, I didn't realize this, but the line was frozen down in the ground. I plugged the heat tape back in and went outside of town for 20 minutes to get two bales of straw to put over the mud. I came back and that water line then thawed and there was water running in the trailer out of that washer valve. Several hundred gallons of water went through there. It went through the ductwork. Home Nation said, “Well, stuff will work loose during shipment," but I’ve done enough plumbing where this stuff doesn’t work. I could understand a little seep here and there on the connections. They won't do anything about that either.

In the master bedroom, the tack strips are out from the wall. The carpet was cut too short and it wasn't tucked in. It was just flapping inside there. I had a friend that does carpet work come out yesterday and we got a stretcher and stretched it out enough, but I still have to put a quarter round down to cover up the edges of it. There were paint splatters about everywhere as well. The bathroom was terrible. There’s a little white paint on the floor and I'm not too sure that the bathroom handle isn't on a quarter degree off. It’s pointing to the side instead of straight down, and I shouldn't have to mess with it.

We like the layout of the kitchen, which makes the whole place. It's got a bar across there and it separates that and the front room. The layout of it is nice, but they scratched the cabinets, and there are scratches on the appliances as well. The backs of them are all dented up, and the refrigerator is the same way. Home Nation charged me big money for them and they got them for pennies. They build the trailers, and if we could have went up there and looked at it before it got moved, I would have never bought it. They would have never brought the trailer to my place. Anybody else would have rejected it, too. They wouldn't sell that thing sitting in a lot.

Home Nation should at least let people go to the place and get a final inspection of what they want to do. If the construction of the trailer has anything to do with the finished work, I've got my doubts there even, but I can't do anything about it now ‘cause it's there. “Well, if you'd have read the fine print.” There are 35 pages of fine print, and I have been reading it. People glance through that stuff and know what most of it’s all about. Until they have a problem, then they go look it up. All in all, I'm very dissatisfied and I'd tell people to go to Factory Expo instead of Home Nation. It costs extra money, another few $1,000 when they can go up and look at them, ‘cause they got them on display up there.

I recently purchased a home through Home Nation and found the entire process to be very smooth. As a builder myself, I understand the time it takes to construct these homes. It took about four to five months to receive the home, which was reasonable considering the circumstances. The home consultant, Jewel, was fantastic and always responsive. She answered all my questions, and if she didn't know an answer, she would promptly find out and get back to me. The delivery and installation process was impressive. The gentleman who handled it did a fantastic job by placing the house exactly where it needed to be on the first attempt.

Won but they keep switching banks so we can’t get paid back the money they owe us!! Don’t go through them. It is a nightmare. Owner said, "Oh well!!"

Throughout my interactions, Alicia, the home consultant, was incredibly helpful and always available to answer my questions. On the rare occasions she couldn't take a call immediately, she would promptly return my calls, which I really appreciated.

We decided on a single mobile home and we were very satisfied with how it turned out. It's exactly what we ordered, meeting all our expectations in quality and design. Although we haven't moved in yet due to ongoing installations, everything is on track to be completed by next month, and so far, it's been a timely process.

If friends were curious about my experience, I'd definitely recommend Home Nation, pointing them towards Alicia for any future purchases. Overall, I would rate my experience as five stars, particularly due to excellent customer service and the thorough attention from Alicia.

I recently purchased a home from Home Nation, and overall, my experience has been pretty positive. Having bought a house before, I found this process smoother and more efficient. While I anticipated delays and minor issues, everything has been working out well, and we are nearing the point of moving in. I was drawn to Home Nation primarily due to their competitive pricing seen online, and although I was not familiar with them beforehand, the cost factor was convincing. The quality of the home is nice, though there were some damages during transport, such as loose drywall seams and chipped corners. I hope these issues will be addressed during the final walkthrough.

An aspect that disappointed me was not being able to physically view the home before purchase. All initial impressions were based on online photos, and upon delivery, there were differences in the countertops and wallpaper compared to the images we saw. While the company stated that some options were discontinued, this wasn't communicated to us earlier. It was disheartening, as I and my girlfriend liked the look in the pictures.

Throughout the process, the customer service team has been helpful, responding to my queries efficiently. Despite the hiccups, I would rate my experience with Home Nation as 4 stars. The ease of the process and the assistance provided by both Home Nation and Montera Construction have been commendable, despite some disappointments along the way.

My experience with Home Nation has been a mixed bag. Overall, I was fairly pleased with my mobile home purchase, mainly because the price was quite fair for its convenience. However, I've encountered some issues with quality, particularly with the front and back doors, and some interior moldings starting to come loose. I've reached out for repairs, but so far, no one has responded or visited.

On a positive note, the Home Nation loan consultant was quite helpful, completing the processing efficiently within a couple of days. However, the unresolved issues with my home prevent me from fully recommending Home Nation at this time. The helpfulness of the representatives and the reasonable pricing would rate a commendable score, but due to unresolved after-sale service concerns, my overall satisfaction remains incomplete.

Alyssa, the only person I talked to at Home Nation, was good. She was right on the ball and always followed up with everything. She answered my calls right away and always sent an email, wanting to know what the status of things was to make sure that I'd be on track to receive the home. I’d recommend her to other people. If you wanna get down to it and buy a house, talk to Alyssa. I paid cash so it was easy for me. I picked the house, put 50% down and when it was done, I sent another wire transfer. The guy who picked up the home was my installer and he contracted with Home Nation to pick it up at the factory.

Home Nation is a seller for multiple home manufacturers. I got two identical homes and this is the second one. The floor plan is just under 800 square feet. The kitchen is in the middle. There’s a little island with a sink. It’s nice for a trailer. But the quality seems to be lacking a little bit compared to the first home. The doors don't line up and the trim is falling off. I have four doors that do not work in the house and the front door does not lock. Home Nation must have had some bad guys there that day. It's unacceptable. Home Nation followed up and did everything they could, so it's not their problem that the quality of the house isn't what I expected.

    Reviewed Oct. 27, 2024

Home Nation's purchasing process was easy, but as soon as the home was delivered, everyone disappeared. The home has been delivered three weeks ago, and I had to find a guy to finish the trim. We bought two homes, and we have a third lot to do. And on the third lot, we will not be doing anything with Home Nation again. It's all the little things that nobody's there to help with. Yesterday, we were trying to get our CO. The guy that they recommended was like, "Well, we'll just fail the first CO because they're always gonna ask for stuff anyways and I'll just come back and fix whatever is not done." I was like, "Just fix it the right way the first time and then we don't have to worry about you coming back again."

They also left all their trash there. No one did all the trim. I had to go find a trim. They gave me one guy's number to do the trim. One guy gave me a quote for $3,500 to finish the trim for each house, which would be $7,000 in additional cost. Then they gave me another number for another guy who did it for $700 per house. So, I don't know where the disconnect was on that. t's been a headache and nobody's there to help you because Home Nation got their money. No one cares at this point. I found another dealer where they give you the CO with the keys and then you pay and everything's done. Once I pay for the house, which is at another dealer, I could get the same house, same price, and all the costs are the same at the end of the day, but I don't have to deal with all the stuff.

The salesperson deals with everything, and he said the only way they get paid is when we get the CO and we get the keys to the house. We can't even get our house insured because I don't have a CO. So I've had two homes sitting on my lot during two hurricanes that I wasn't even able to insure because I don't have a CO. That was the most stressful of it all because we had paid $180,000 cash sitting on lots and two hurricanes came through. I can't even insure them. So, that was scary. It's been a lot.

Bruce was the installer and he was like, "We submitted for the CO. You need to put all your permit packages out." Nobody told us that. We have to post permit package on the windows. We live two hours from the property. My husband left at 5:00 this morning to drive up there to be able to make it because we're trying to get that CO because the most important thing is getting insurance on those houses. I don't want it to burn down while it's sitting there empty. All of our money is there and we can't do anything.

My husband drove out there today to post permit pages, which I don't know why we're doing that. That should've been done by the construction people because they were the ones who pulled all the permits. We did it. My husband checked the keys, and the front doors don't open. None of the keys work. So now, we have to call the Gold Key people because they keep saying, "Just call the Gold people." We're still missing pieces. We're still missing screens. We've been waiting for parts.

Nobody's able to tell you what's going on. I'm so frustrated. My husband and I we're just done. Every minute you're like, "We're almost there. Nope, another thing. Okay, we're almost there. Nope, another thing." This would be the last time with Home. They were like, "Let me ask my manager who you need to call next." That's not a home-buying process. That's me being a builder, developer, and everything. I'm paying someone also to do my permits. I'm paying for all of it, but it's still me doing everything.

We paid for the whole house to have all flooring. I don't know who dropped the ball on that, but one house has carpet. Who wants carpet in their house? I don't. So, I paid for it to have no carpet, but I have carpet and there's nothing I could do about it. I got my money back, which is nice, but I didn't get what I wanted and what I paid for. It's a value decrease. We wanna resell these. And right now, the way it looks for resale, it's not as nice because of that carpet in the house. The other one that was done right is gorgeous. People that are looking to resell and to buy these lots don't wanna have to do any work. They want move-in ready, but this has not been the case.

I love my mobile home and I was happy with what I paid. I did $20,000 worth of upgrades on the mobile home, but I am happy with what I received overall. The sales office was wonderful. They explained everything well and were always there to answer questions. The project manager assigned to me did a very good job as well. Bethany was who I worked with and she is phenomenal. She should be given a gold star. I appreciate her follow-up on items that aren't even her responsibility.

But I am not happy with the service department. I knew that when the mobile home would arrive, there'd be potential damage. That's outlined in the packet of information and the sales office even pointed that out. When the mobile home arrived, there was some damage to the exterior siding on the end that was hooked to the truck that drove it here as well as a couple of cracks underneath the windows.

The installer installed everything and it took several days to get everything done. But once the water was hooked up, there was no hot water. The installer was not a plumber, so he had no idea. We bought two new thermostats, thinking that potentially, the thermostat was bad when we got it. But that didn't prove to be the case. I ended up having to hire a plumber to come and look at the water heater. There was something in the water heater that had to be reset. Once he did whatever he did, I had hot water. I had a bill for that and submitted that to the service department. They said that there were no items broken in the water heater. They are denying any reimbursement to me, which is a little bit frustrating because it's not like I made that up.

I also had some siding that was loose by my front door up at the top edge at the roof line. The installer fixed it once, but it ended up coming down again along with the piece next to that. I had called a company to come out and put gutters on the mobile home. They said that I was missing a utility trim and a J channel at the roof line that locked those top pieces of the siding in. I went back and forth for weeks with the service department. I talked with Summer who was my contact there. She was a very nice girl, but she was getting no results. She seemed very sympathetic, but she hasn't been given the tools to be able to take care of any customer complaints. She does not have access to materials and contractors to be able to issue over a legitimate problem.

She said she was arguing with MHE, the manufacturer. I don't know what there was to argue. When the mobile home arrived, there were multiple pieces of siding within the mobile home. I wasn't asking for the siding to be replaced at the roof line. I was asking for somebody to send the J channel, the utility trim, and for them to come and fix that because I couldn't get the gutters on until that was done. The manufacturer could not understand what happened to those pieces of siding. I told them the installer used that siding to repair what was buggered up when it was delivered where it hooked to the front of the truck when it hooked to the front of the mobile home. He spliced another piece that he bought himself and fixed that so it doesn't look bad from the road. But it still is a sliced piece and not a whole piece, and I've never heard anything about that replacement.

I hired the installer to come back. He tacked those top siding pieces back on and I was able to get the gutters installed. I wasn't thrilled about that. I heard that there was an approval that they would reimburse me for that because I have submitted that invoice which I paid too. But as of today I still have no news on the cracks underneath the window, if and when those will ever get repaired.

The mobile home comes with a furnace, and I had central air installed. I knew going into this that that was my expense to install central air. But the central air is exceptionally loud. I tried to talk to see if somebody could come out and take a look at that. But service told me I had to contact the furnace manufacturer. I did and they said that I needed to have the HVAC guy come back and try to adjust the blower speed inside the furnace. Since there were no broken pieces, warranty doesn't cover any of that. But when he had installed the air conditioner, he said there was one vent that wasn't blowing, so he didn't know whether that was hooked up or not, which again, I reported. I filled all of those items out on the punch list that I was given within the first so many days that I was supposed to. But nobody has looked at it or taken action on it.

The installer that Home Nation contracted with to install the mobile home was an exceptionally nice guy. He tried and he did everything that he was supposed to do. But I didn't understand the reluctance to send somebody out to take a look at that water heater. That really irks me that I'm not gonna get reimbursed for that bill. I paid for the siding repair and for the fix for the hot water heater. The hot water bill was $219 and some change, and it was $150 to fix the siding. It's not like I'm trying to take advantage of anybody. I bought a brand new home and I expect it to be brand new and to work when it got here. If I spend the amount of money that I did for the mobile home and the installation, I expect it to be perfect.

Since the manufacturer puts the mobile home together, they ought to have contacts in quality and supplier support for wherever they procure their products to build the manufactured home. I don't understand why they wouldn't even have a technical service that whatever installer is hired to install the mobile home would have a number for them to call. If you have a plumbing issue, call this number. If you have heater issue, call this number. There should be some level of expertise offered by the manufacturer, to be able to know right away that there's an issue or there's not an issue.

Everything’s been pretty good with Home Nation. I got in touch with an agent who explained everything to me and then I got in touch with the finance lady who's taken care of everything from that point on. Also, I'm in constant contact with somebody who's walking me through every step of the process and telling me what's next. They've been very hands-on and helpful. Their lending people are right on the money as far as getting the homeowners insurance started and trying to get the closing dates. They're really easy to get in touch with. I don't have to call and leave a message and wait three days. I can just send a text message or email some of that and they get back with me pretty quickly.

The delivery of the home was a nightmare and a half but it wasn't Home Nation's fault. They hired a guy who has done installs for them before, but for whatever reason, when he came to my house, he did everything wrong. He dug the pier holes too shallow, didn't line them up very well, and didn't fill them full of concrete. He failed inspection and waited a week and then came out and dug the hole deeper. They're still wrong in every way they can be wrong as far as their placement goes. They didn't make them in straight lines. That's $3,000 that went into my loan they paid him. Then he delayed us three more weeks by coming up with excuses. He wasn't coming out to the house at all. Finally, their finance lady got in touch with somebody else and had somebody else come out to install the home. When they showed up, that's when they discovered that the foundation wouldn't work because the first guy put all the pier holes in the wrong spot.

Other than that, I've already recommended Home Nation to friends. They have lots of homes to choose from. I could call and tell them what I was looking for and they’d just send me an email with a list of homes that I can look at. When I click the link, it took me to their page and I could do a virtual walkthrough. Everything you need to know about it is right there and you can pick your options.

It was a nightmare with Home Nation. I told them about a narrow bridge that they would have to cross. The delivery said they weren't worried about that. They were worried about trees. I said, "Tell me what day they would be there and I'll have someone there to cut down anything that's in their way." But they decided they didn't wanna cross the bridge. Andrea was the consultant for the delivery and I had asked her to have the trailer dropped off and I would get it across with a bobcat with my brother. But she refused. She said, "We need a contractor." But they couldn't find a contractor. I had to find it.

I had to call around local mobile home parks to find out who they used, and I found one contractor that would accept the job. I had to do all that, although it should have been Andrea's job to do that. I shouldn't have had to pay $6500 to get the trailer across the bridge. Also, I still have unresolved issues with the home. I got a broken light fixture in the bathroom and in the dining room. I have another outdoor corner piece that has to be replaced because it was ripped off in delivery.

Home Nation's purchase process was fairly fast and easy. We went online. We were upgrading from the single wide to the double wide. Home Nation was the first one that popped up. We looked at the blueprints and liked one of the blueprints. That was what sold us. It took a little bit for all of the paperwork, but that's expected when you buy a house. The finance company that we went with, Triad, was the one that was holding a lot of it back.

We dealt with three people. Nicole was the one that we talked to the most. She kept calling to check and see if we heard anything on the paperwork. She was excited to get us into a home. She was the one that was helping us get them moving. We would tell her something, and then she'd be like, “Okay. Let me see if I can email them real quick to see what's holding them up.” And then no sooner than she emails them, they already had it but didn't wanna share it with us. So, she's the one that pretty much dealt with Triad.

The whole homebuying experience only took us about six weeks. Then we had to wait for our home to be built, which took a little longer but it was because ours was being built in. It was supposed to be done around the 4th. Then people took time off for the 4th. So, we only got pushed back a little bit. I would recommend my friends to buy a home through Home Nation. Two did. They live in the same area we live in, and they were like, “How was it?” I was like, “It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.” I know how stressful it is to buy a house, and it was nowhere near that.

I got the home a month ago and I'm gonna start making payments in two weeks and I can't even live there yet. I'm still missing some parts of the home. They didn't send me the front and back sidings, and some wood to do some details from the front and back of the house. I'm also missing the trimmers to put them together on the floor inside the house. The home also came broken. I sent them their pictures about a month ago when we got the home that the sheetrock was broken. One of the sheetrocks was placed on a broken post that has like a little glue and a bracket to put together. So, they put that as a base and it broke. So, the sheetrock, part of the bathroom, part of the middle of the house, and on the front are broken. They told me they were gonna work on an estimate to give me a check or send somebody to fix that, but it's been almost three weeks.

I called Home Nation today again about this and they didn't even order the pieces that I'm missing yet. They told me to close the loan with Cascade so they could get the money and they could take care of everything that was missing and on the estimate of the broken parts inside the house. I didn't want to sign the final close with Cascade until I got all the parts delivered. But I signed it and I got a receipt from Home Nation that they already got paid, but they haven't even sent the pieces that I need, and it's been three weeks. So, I called them today. It looks like today they're gonna make the order so I can get all the missing parts. But it hasn't been good at all.

I would never ever recommend Home Nation to anyone. The purchase process with them was awful. It was one thing after another. They told me that when I paid the $10,000 deposit, it was gonna take eight weeks and they would send the order to the factory at that time. I paid the deposit in December 2021. I kept wanting to know about when the mobile home was gonna be built and when it was gonna be delivered only to find out 10 weeks later that they hadn't even placed the order with the factory.

I knew something was wrong 'cause every time I called, I was getting a runaround. It was disgraceful how irresponsible it was and what a lack of attention to the customer's satisfaction and well-being. Every time I asked the salesperson a question, the answer was, "I don't know. Let me find out and I'll get back to you." I wasn't asking difficult questions. Any time I had a question, nobody had an answer for me. They never gave me an explanation.

It was a Champion motorhome, and they've got an economy line, a moderate line and a deluxe line. With each line, you get more and more options that are available to you. All my daughter could afford was the economy line and the home was shoddy construction. The doors were cock-eyed in the frames and didn't close right. The trim around the doors and windows didn't even line up or was an inch or two short in some locations. The workmanship was very bad. The site was going on a hill and when they finally delivered it to me, and everybody kept saying, "Back it in this way," but the guy insisted on backing in a different way and wound up damaging the mobile home.

In addition, they didn't secure the front edge of the roof properly. In transit, shingles got damaged from the wind. I kept calling the salesperson and saying, "You said that there was a full one year warranty on this. I've got damage. What do we do?" I was told to get somebody to do it, submit the receipts and I'd be reimbursed. I did exactly that. I bought shingles and siding and had my installer do a professional installation. Two years later, I've never been reimbursed. I've called them several times and they would say they'd look right into it but I've never heard back from them.

My recommendation to anybody is don't buy a mobile home online. Instead of wasting your time researching online, research your local dealers and buy with somebody that you can sit down with face-to-face, not only for the buying process, but also for the installation process and for any follow-up that needs to be done. You're much better off paying more and being able to have somebody local that takes responsibility and that you can hold accountable than buying something from online. With Home Nation I was talking to somebody in Wisconsin or Michigan, the factory is in Pennsylvania, and the headquarters of the business is in Florida.

In a global society, you can buy anything you wanna buy from countless places. What you have to find is exemplary customer service which trumps everything. It's more important than quality of product because you can't buy it. You can only get it from a company that understands it and Home Nation doesn't. The customer service of this company is atrocious. More important than anything else is standing behind the product and making the customer feel like a valued person and not just somebody whose money they wanna get. That's where Home Nation failed the most.

I have had not much problems with Home Nation but I'm having trouble now because I can't get the manufacturer to come and fix the problems with the mobile home I got. Their purchasing process was straightforward. We just told them what we wanted, signed a contract, and then waited for the mobile to get here after it got off the production line. Brianna was my home consultant, and I had no problems when I asked her questions. She got back to me. It's just I don't think she was totally up to par on all the different aspects of mobile homes and so forth.

I was just buying a single wide mobile home at this point in time. I will be buying other ones in the future. I like to go with the 16-foot wide rather than the 14-foot wide because I'd like to give more value for the money I'm getting. I like to go with three-bedroom units. I like the split floor plan with the master bedroom down one end of the mobile and the other two bedrooms are down the other end. That eliminates a lot of wasted hall space to get to the bedroom. I like to give them more room in the mobile than they would get normally if you just have a mobile with a long hallway that’s useless.

The quality of the build leaves a little bit to be desired. In my estimation, you get the 2 x 4 walls on the outside, but the inside walls are 2 x 3s, which is not a problem. But the quality of the workmanship of the Champion Home that I got was not up to my standards because I'm top-notch. I like to give value for what I'm getting. I've been talking to Erin, the VP of sales, to get some of my things because I don't have a salesperson assigned to me right now. So, I'm getting some good results here. Home Nation's prices are very good. So, that's why I've already recommended one person to go with them. I think he'll be buying mobiles from there. He has a setup where he's gonna need about 10 of them, so that'll work out well.

The purchase process was easy and straightforward. Kendall helped me and he was a good guy. He explained the different models of the homes and we discussed that. He got me hooked up with the one that he thought was best suited for my situation. It's a little small, but it works for my situation so it was ideal. Also, the delivery went well. It came from Indiana and the guys who came out were great. They parked the home where we asked them to and it was easy for my setup crew to get in there and put it together. We had some issues with the home, though. There were some walls that are a little out of square and stuff like that, but that's nothing major. I fixed it and we rolled on with it.

Home Nation is a good company to deal with. They have taken care of a number of things. I have a few things they still need to take care of, but it went well. The consultant was attentive, answered my questions, was consistent and moved along in a fashion where it worked. We're using the home as a construction office. It has two little offices. it's 42 feet long, so it's perfect for what we wanted to do.

I heard about Home Nation from a friend who bought a house down in Ohio. They told me to come down there because I could figure out exactly what I want and that's exactly what I wanted. I worked with Bethany and she was really good. She was always quick to answer any of my questions that I had and she showed me everything I needed to know. I made more than one trip down there and every time, she was very concerned with my concerns and made sure everything was all right and was done properly. The financial person was good to work with as well.

I got a small two-bedroom home with two baths and I was able to upgrade everything the way I wanted. I got drywall in the house and I got a bigger shower. They brought the home to my house and I had a few issues when they got there and they worked my way through the issues. We couldn't get to a home on the pad that I made because of the way my property is set up, so I had to almost do it myself. But the guy stood around and he helped me out until I got the home exactly where I needed it to get it done. They did everything they could to make sure that I was satisfied when they left. I'm happy with the experience altogether.

We had a lot of problems with Home Nation. First, we got the approval. We bought the home. Then they had a delivery date. It didn't come on the delivery date. It was three months late. Then when they delivered it, the delivery people didn't deliver it where the guy was saying to put it. They delivered it backwards. So, I had to pay extra to get a guy to come in and turn it around and put it on the pad. They left it 200 yards from where it was supposed to be. Then we had to hire somebody to put it together. It was a double-wide. They didn't put T-braces or anything in there. All the sheetrock was laying on the ground.

Home Nation didn't do anything for me. The guy that was putting it together said, "I could put it up for you, but it's gonna be an extra charge." Everything turned into extras. Then when it came time to do the plumbing and the electrical, I don't know if they hurried taking it out of the plan, but they didn't even mark where the plumbing was. The installation is all underneath. It was all black. There were no marks where the plumbing was to hook up the plumbing. There were no marks where the electrical lines were. The electrician got it all put together, but then he couldn't find the third wire to plug in for three of the rooms. It's a four-bedroom. Three rooms didn't have power. So, we had to take the sheetrock off because the wire was up inside the wall. They didn't drop it underneath the home. I was like, "Oh, are you kidding me?" It's been one thing after another.

My daughter started the process at the end of 2022. She finally got to move in it last month. That was how long it took. We called for service because none of the doors would close, and service said they're six months out. They wouldn't close and lock because they shifted in transport, which I know stuff like that happens. There's a handyman guy around here who knew exactly what to do. So, he went in there and fixed all the doors as a favor to my daughter because he's her neighbor. So, now all the doors closed and locked. Everything's good.

When the guy came out to put it together, they shorted us all the supplies like the transitions for the floor and the ceiling. The rest of the plumbing to connect it wasn't there. So, we had to wait six weeks for them to ship us the parts we needed. It's been a horrible process. My daughter said she is so disappointed. I said, "Yeah. I'm kind of disappointed, too." If they had done it like they said, it would have been perfect, but it was nowhere even close to what they were saying was gonna happen.

In the beginning, we had it all set up to where when we bought the home, they were gonna have somebody come out and take care of the property, get it leveled and put the concrete in for the home to sit on, make sure everything is done, make sure the septic tank got installed, and make sure the electrical got installed. All of a sudden, when she got the home delivered and everything got ready to go, lo and behold, that wasn't included. What happened was, their salesman, Jeremy, was helping us at the start. Then about a year after we got things going, I was getting upset and said, "Well, I can go somewhere else and get this done." They said, "No, no, no." We gave them $25,000. They didn't wanna give us our money back. They wanted to finish it. So, about a year after we were into this, they fired Jeremy because he was promising people things they weren't getting. It wasn't just me. It was other people, too.

So then, Sam came on board and she got everything going to where we got the home. It was ordered and built. It was supposed to be delivered in March. It didn't get delivered until June. I talked to the people transporting it, and they said, "Yeah. Our job is to put it where you need it." But the driver said, "No. We're not doing that." They were supposed to back down. It's only a 150-yard road they had to back down, which is plenty of room where they can turn. It's out in the country. There was plenty of room for them to turn it and back it down. They pulled it straight in and just dropped one off in a field by the house and dropped the other one on the street in front of the house and just drove away.

They were in such a hurry, they left the transport plates on the mobile homes and they keep calling me saying, "We need our transport plates back." I said, "Then come get them." They want me to mail them. I said, "I'm not spending money for something you left here. It's not my responsibility.” It was the transport people that did it. It's been completely crazy. Everything that got done such as the plumbing underneath it, the septic tank, and the electrical being hooked up from the house to the pole, and all that was done by me. I did all of that because I checked with the county and they said, "Yeah. You can do it. But we have to have it inspected by a professional." I said, "Well, I've been remodeling things my whole life."

I put the plumbing in. I put the electrical in the trailer. I put the septic tank in the ground. I put the motor in the septic, did everything I was supposed to, and I passed all my inspections. Last month, they had to do a final walk-through to make sure everything worked. On the 16th, we did the final walk-through. The inspector gave me kudos and said, "You did a very good job on this. "I know it's been a while." It's the same inspector that had been coming out for two years. He said, "You finally got it. You did a good job. I'm gonna be filing your approval. You're good to go." He signed off on everything, and my daughter got to move in.

Sam jumped in and started doing what she was doing. If she wouldn't have jumped in, I wouldn't have bought it from them. She jumped in and said, "Look, this is what I'm gonna do." And she got it but then she didn't know Jeremy promised all this and she said, "Well, we're gonna have to add on to your mortgage for that." I asked how much it would be, and it was double what she was paying. I told her my daughter couldn't afford that. She lives in a small town. She makes $1,100 every two weeks. Her payment is only 800 a month because she owns the property. So I said, "$1,600 payment would kill her. We can't afford that."

She said, "Well, the only other option is you do it." I'm retired and I had a lot of money in savings. I went in my savings, and I did the plumbing, the electrical, and the septic tank. It was $18,000 to cover all that. They would add that on to her bill and charge her double. I don't understand how $18,000 would double her payment because if you borrow $18,000, the payment is only like $180 a month payback.

I just did it because my daughter was all upset. She was crying. She has two kids and it cost her to live where she was living. She had to pay for where she was living till the house was done. So, she was paying rent in another place where she was living and still trying to figure out how she was gonna do that. I live in Colorado and I'm in Illinois now to make sure everything's good till I go back.

My brother-in-law has property right by my daughter’s, and he's gonna go buy a home and I told him, "Let's look around. You're not buying it from the same people she did." I'm not gonna let him. I started looking around, and with Champion Homes, which is two hours away from here where they build them, we could have bought the same home there for half the price. They'd had it scheduled and done on time. They would have come out, put it on the property, and had it put together all for less than what she's paying on this one.

There's a residue in the tub and it isn't something that I'm terribly concerned with, but it's unsightly. Also, we weren't able to get a title, and there was a legal action from wherever my mother was trying to get titled at with the city so we haven't been able to get titled. We’re having a miserable time.

It was a cash purchase and the home was already built. Right now, we're still waiting for permits and the unit has not been put in. It's taking a long time because they decided they needed an environmental consultant at the last minute. Then, we wanted to move the septic. So we've been at this since December.
