The globe plant pathway lights are a big disappointment. First of all there one lumen, which is a total joke, my mistake. But why make some thing that is totally nonfunctional? Secondly, you have to use a tiny screwdriver that you would use on eyeglasses to check the battery, then getting the battery out is a problem & getting the screw out it’s a bigger problem. So total piece of junk as far as I’m concerned. And I’m sure they’ll end up in the dump, since it’s too late to return them to Home Depot.

I bought these lights a few months ago from Home Depot and did NOT keep the receipt. Two months ago I installed them through trees alongside my deck and was delighted with them until last week when one of the bulbs stopped working and then another conked out two nights ago. Although Home Depot has an online Hampton Bay customer service department and one is advised to email or call them there is no link for an email and I'm disinclined to sit on the phone going through a "press 1,2,3 etc." to get a response. I can find no email link anywhere online for Hampton Bay.
I'm very familiar with solar lights and have never had any fail so miserably after such a very short time. Since I didn't keep the receipt it seems I have no recourse but just to leave them up until the rest of the bulbs fail and then hope to find something similar which will last better. I live in the Caribbean and these lights have enjoyed the best weather with nothing whatsoever to damage them - no heavy winds or torrential rains and they were securely fastened in place. Very disappointing.

Purchased model number 54645141 for our kitchen. Had it 3 years. Bought because it was LED and would last forever. Last night it fell down. The cover broke as did the plastic clips, which appear to be the cause. Home Depot will give us in store credit but no refund since we did not save the receipt. My husband installed the original, but he cannot uninstall a replacement, so we have an additional expense for that. It could have fallen on either of us!!! Will try Hampton Bay directly.

Getting the stakes in the ground so that the lights can be installed is impossible. The cheap, thin plastic breaks at the slightest tap of a hammer. This product is completely useless. Don't waste your money on it.

Hampton Bay has a "seal" right on the front of their manuals stating "Lifetime Warranty" but in fact, it is a limited warranty. I think people should be aware that Hampton Bay offers no such warranty for their ceiling fans and they should remove their "seal" stating so. Very deceptive and false advertising. I would be happy to attach their "seal" but I'll have to see if this site will allow attachments.

Hampton Bay/Home Depot LED Solar Cap Lights SKU 609350 - On Sept 19, 2017, just 4 days after I purchased my home, a deck fire broke out in the early morning hours (we woke up to smoke at approx 2:20am, the FD was called at approx 2:24am). There were 8 cap lights on the deck. When the FD and Sheriff's dept arrived, I asked one of the deputies his thoughts of the cause. He said "it was your grill". I laughed and said "No Sir, that grill hasn't been lit, since 4th of July." And I had guest over earlier in the evening that could testify that the grill was not lit, and still had the cover on it...not to mention it was 97 degrees that day (in the shade about 110). So I went back to the deck where the firefighters were going thru ash and debris. Overhearing one of the firefighters saying "solar lights?" to the Chief.
When I asked the chief he said he could not rule out the lights, nor could he for the "record" say they were the cause. However, the point of origin was the corner post, 18-20 inches away from where my covered grill was. In short, I contacted Home Depot/Hampton Bay the very same day. I have months of email chains beginning with Home Depot/Hampton Bay, escalating up the CHUBB, the client's insurer. In November 2017, I received a phone call from Rachel, the claims specialist with Chubb. The first words out of her mouth were "Hi Sabrina, this is Rachel with Chubb Insurance. We probably will be paying the claim for Ms. ** in Arkansas but I have a few questions for the homeowner..."
I wasn't sure if I heard her right, so I said, "Excuse me. Could you repeat that", and she did. I told her I WAS the homeowner and she quickly changed her tone and stammered her words for a minute, then said "Since I have you on the phone, can I ask you a couple questions...” I said, “Of course.” 1) “Have you contacted an attorney?” - I said "No, but I can." 2) “Have you discussed this on Social Media?” - I said "No, But I can." 3) “Do you have the Original Packaging?” I said "Yes, you have photos". Of course the right hand did not know what the left hand was doing. She said my original test samples were lost, could I send the rest that were not destroyed by the fire. 3 were damaged in the fire. I sent 2 originally in Oct.
Of course I did not send them all (the second set was sent in Feb, 2018). Today I get an email stating the test sample show no fault with the product, but they would be happy to reimburse me for my time and shipping - $100. A Billion Dollar Company (The Client and the Insurer, both) states: Further, I am unable to provide you with any written reports regarding the investigation, as no reports were drafted, which is standard in these types of cases.
Needless to say, I will be seeking counsel, and Consumer Affairs, Consumer Product Safety Commission AND Social Media of all kinds. I am not seeking a million dollar claim here. I am only looking for them to repay the claim to my insurance company and for my deductible and my personal property damage to be repaid to me. Folks, we are talking less than 8K... Had we not woke up that morning, it could have been my whole house, and our lives. Note: The damaged battery I included in images was found 18 feet from the fire damage, wedged underneath my back door.

As a note, I have purchased outdoor LED garden lighting and they did not stand up, rusted despite they were supposed to be stainless steel. I've fortunately had very good luck with fans, the ones I have are very well made. I have a Havana 48" ceiling fan with light, the fan has been running constantly over a year with not one difficulty. I have just purchased/installed three Lillycrest 52" fans, no light, and I thought the build quality was great, and all of the fans are very quiet. I went by the reviews on the Home Depot website before purchasing them. I might just be lucky with these particular fans. This said, I have in the past purchased some Hampton Bay lights that I thought were junk. I always read all the reviews I can find. I am not saying all Hampton Bay products are perfect, but just that I've had excellent experiences with these particular fans. I just want to give them some credit where credit is due.

Purchased 3-light vanity lights and 2-single lights about 4 years ago from Home Depot. All have some degree of pitting, corrosion and/or rust. I took them back to HD and they would not take them back. I contacted Hampton Bay via email with pictures and was told they were out of warranty. I replied that I would like a website/link where I can view the warranty myself and have not heard back. Very disappointed and will not purchase Hampton Bay again.

I had purchased a Hampton Bay ceiling light about five years ago. Recently the light stopped working. After changing out the bulbs, the light switch and verifying that current was running to the light, it was determined that the ballast was no longer working. I received no help at the local store and customer service was slow in responding after the information was provided.
Additionally, I needed to call to determine where the request stood. I was told that parts are no longer available. They could not provide a vendor to go to and it was suggested that I search on the internet. I did and that. It was frustrating and fruitless. I also looked locally which was unsuccessful. So I am left to repaint the ceiling (five years will fade the surrounding ceiling) and look for a new light. So far the process has taken three weeks to get this far. Since Hampton Bay parts may not be available when they discontinue a product I will look elsewhere for my lighting needs and subsequent service/parts.

Hampton Bay "Carriage House II" Ceiling Fan purchased November 2009 from Home Depot. The lights on my ceiling fan kept burning out quicker than usual. This year they started flickering. I took apart the lighting section of the fan and discovered all of the wires connected to the porcelain insulators where the bulbs are connected were badly corroded, disintegrating, and shorting out. The fan is a ceiling fan and is used in the kitchen of our bungalow. There is no reason for the wires to be corroding and creating a fire hazard. The vendor, in this instance Home Depot, was completely disinterested to even bother alerting the manufacturer or the public who have purchased this defective product.

I have never been defeated on an install job but this one heard every last swear word in the book. Thanks for the meltdown Hampton. I will never buy your ** again.

Globe Solar Path Light - 6 pack. I purchased 30 of these lights from Home Depot 5 years ago. They were beautiful white lights. Now the lights are orange so there is no way to replace the ones that have since broken. The new lights look old and dirty. I have tried purchasing from several online sites and they all come out orange. Very disappointed.

Hampton Bay Outdoor LED Lighting HB8822LED-05 - My husband who has been in the electrical field for nearly 40 years decided to put up NINE beautiful lights around our outdoor garage. He chose the Hampton Bay LED because they are supposed to last for fifty-thousand hours. Well after less than a year, three have already stopped working. Evidently the DRIVERS have gone bad. We paid about thirty dollars for each one, and the after market drivers are approximately sixty dollars each, and they are not even the exact drivers for the product. They are just as close as we can find. We are so angry with Home Depot and Hampton Bay, working in tandem to mess over the public. We used to trust both of these companies, but more and more you see, hear, and realize they don't care. We have made phone calls to both, and it looks like we will be out the money, start over, and have to replace all nine of our lights. Sad day!!!

My husband bought me this light as a gift just a few years ago. I noticed yesterday that it was hanging at a weird angle. Upon closer inspection the welds on the light fixture had separated and only one was keeping it on the ceiling!!! It could have fallen on my kids. So mad. I loved that light!

I brought the flush mount light fixture home to find the insulation ripped and someone had used electrical tape to cover two additional wire caps. The instructions show 3 less wires and only 3 wire caps. I brought the item back and picked up another. Imagine how PO'd I was to find the 2nd one the same way. Now we live in an area where there are a lot of new homes, so I figured someone bought and returned several of these lights, as they look nice. But after reading all the Hampton Bay complaints here, I think the lamp is just a piece of junk and it seems common for HB to have instructions that don't match the product. That by itself is a fire hazard, so I'm not going to risk my family's safety with a shoddy Hampton Bay product. I'm glad I found this site while looking for the darn wiring diagram. Put safety first and don't buy this company's electrical items.

We decided to replace our 32 year old back deck exterior wall light fixture. We picked up a Hampton Bay Exterior Wall Lantern Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish Clear Beveled Glass (SKU 433-659). 6.5"W X 14.5"H X 7.75" Ext. This is a dangerous product and should be taken off Home Depot shelves immediately. I have installed many light fixtures over the years and have never had one with a design that causes cuts to the hands. In order to install a bulb you have to reach your hand down into the fixture. Not unusual, however, the top edges of the glass lenses ARE RAZOR SHARP! Before I knew it I was bleeding from two locations on my hand. Apparently the manufacturer is not properly polishing the topside edges of the lenses or needs to have the top of the lenses under a metal flange. Replacing bulbs will be hazardous. Taking it back to Home Depot tomorrow.

I purchased a Hampton bay floor lamp #335-840 and was unable to assemble the globes to the post. All three plastic threaded nuts that secure the globes to the post were defective in that they would not screw onto the base of the on/off switch as the male and female threads were not comparable. Very poor quality.

As a homeowner I have purchased Hampton Bay light fixtures, fans. Hampton Bay makes a high stylish product that looks good. However, anything mechanical like higher end fans I would avoid. I have a fan where the metal being used is too thin and the blades pull the blade holder onto the light fixture. It looks good in out kitchen but it is a very poor design. I have had better luck with Harbor Breeze fans but will likely avoid both in the future. On the positive side we have light fixtures spot light that have done well as well. If you like style Hampton Bay is good, but if you need a fan that will be used a lot around the house I would look elsewhere.

We have purchased a Hampton Bay Semi-Flush light, Model # SFM651CH. The instructions are awful and the parts provided do not match the instructions. Somehow the base of the light is supposed to attached to two moveable screws. The screws just move up and down. I believe the wrong cross bar is included in the package as previous lights we have had have two pieces to the cross bar and the screws thread through it and stay in place. On this light the screws move up and down and side to side. I would not recommend this product.

Purchased a condo with a Hampton Bay Alturas ceiling fan with remote control. It worked fine for almost a year. I was gone for a month and when I came back, the ceiling fan wouldn't work. I went up to see what the problem was and the remote received was melted along with all the wires connected to it. The ceiling under the trim piece was blackened and the house wiring was burned through. Why the condo didn't burn down is a mystery to me but thank goodness it didn't.

I own (2) Hampton Bay Fans model #68-ATR - UPC code: 082392680565. Both of these units' receiver failed after 1 year yet Hampton Bay refused to replace the receivers. They wanted over $100 to replace BOTH receiver units. In addition, when I called they said they couldn't find my order because they had "switched over to a new system". Therefore they could not verify my order.
Very disappointed. I do not recommend buying Hampton Bay fans for the reasons stated above. They will sell you low grade made in China electronics that will break in 12 months then hold you hostage for replacement parts since they DO NOT SELL THE RECEIVER PARTS IN RETAIL STORES LIKE HOME DEPOT. You must buy it from them ONLY.

My spouse and I purchased a beautiful hanging pendant light fixture from Home Depot. Product number SKU 544-851. The lighting company is Hampton Bay Lighting. We hired an electrician to install the light. The part that attached to the chain at to top of the light was missing. The drive to Home Depot is 130 Kms round trip. We returned the lamp and received a replacement, an additional 130 Kms. As it turns out the second light is also defective. There are three brushed nickel arms that go over the glass fixture and screw into the base rod. One was broken off. (Weak solder job to say the least). Now an additional 130 Kms to replace this light.
We like the style of this item. Home Depot are very good at replacing faulty items. However, if for some odd reason there is a fault with the third light. I will simply lodge a complaint against the company once again with your office, and the Better Business Bureau. I will also contact Home Depot and lodge a complaint in reference to this product from (Hampton Bay Lighting).

About a year ago, we switched over most of the lighting in our home from the outdated brass/glass to the more rustic Hampton Bay. Here are some things I learned the hard way. Never, ever, EVER use the light bulbs that are sent with these fixtures. The first time I tried to change a bulb in my chandelier, actually unscrewed out the entire electrical element to that bulb. So, a couple of hundred dollars later (I had to have an electrician come in to wire that one bulb again, we decided to change every bulb while the electrician was here and he broke 2 of them attempting to remove them. The glass bulb did not break but simply removed itself from the metal threads which screw into the bulb fixture.
We replaced all the bulbs with the new spiral type bulbs that have the mercury and never had another issue. Then, after the electrician left, I attempted to remove and change the bulbs on all the other Hampton Bay fixtures we had installed and the same issue with 70% of the bulbs no matter how gently we tried to remove them. I tried to contact the manufacturer but it turns out there is no such company. It's obviously a subsidiary of Home Depot. I've always looked to HD for quality but they seemed to have dropped the ball here. The fixtures look great but they're not inexpensive so get ready for some headaches going in.

Our house was built and light fixtures were installed in 2007 by the previous owners. For the 18 foot tall entrance hall, they chose a Hampton Bay chandelier Model # CC 164/9EBK. It is a very classy chandelier, which added a lot of character to our entrance. Being an 18 foot ceiling, it is very difficult to get to. Two days ago, my wife and I were sitting in the living room when we heard a strange noise in the entrance. As I walked into the entranceway, tried to turn on the chandelier, a shower of sparks fell from the ceiling along with the chandelier. It smashed onto the tile floor damaging one of the tiles. The chandelier weighs 26 pounds, and if I did not stop to turn on the lights, it potentially could have injured me. It appears that one of the chain links snapped. Did anyone else experience this? We now have to find a new chandelier and repair our tile floor.

We purchased several solar path lights for our Peaceful Garden indoor lighting project, to help people with no power, or those who want to help save power and curb global climate change. Only about 3 out of 10 solar lights even stay lit for more than 2 hours, after a week or two. Hampton Bay assured us that these lights were on warranty, but has refused to call us back, talk to us, or honor their replacement. We have to take them back to HOME DEPOT which sells these defective products. We have Hampton Bay solar path lights that are 10 years old, that work fine; they are making them cheaper.

We bought 3 boxes of the solar powered string lights to put up on our trees. They worked for a week, and so we got 5 more for the other trees. A few days, we noticed some of the lights dimming. So we started moving the little solar panels around the trees, maybe they just needed more sun. The lights still worked less and less. We took those 3 back to Home Depot and exchanged them for new ones. We put those up and they worked for about 2 days. We tried moving the solar panels around the trees again, it didn't help. As of now, only 2 of the 8 strings of lights on the trees work. One lit up tree, and can't return them. It's been over 30 days.

Hall light fixture is now broken, which I assumed was a bad bulb (special bulb can't be switched with other known working universal lights), so I purchased an $8 "specialized" bulb and found the light fixture is the problem. ALL OLDER UNIVERSAL INCANDESCENT/CFL fixtures in home are still working fine after 50+ yrs.

After reading reviews on this fixture it seems that the issue has never been addressed! May just return and buy a different fixture. But now we have to repair ceiling, as this unit requires 4 mounting points.
