We have been dealing with a warranty issue for over 4 months. Company puts it all on the dealer and he is not making a good faith effort to fix our spa. Their response to this will be blah blah blah, we will do every we can...but they will only listen to the dealer's ** excuses.

From what you are saying, I'm sure you have a case already started. I will PM you for your info.
The dealer and spa owner's account is considered when a warranty claim is filed, and the spa and the parts are examined.
I look forward to working with you soon.

Purchased our Spa our Utopia Spa and had it delivered on 09/20/2020. Love it but only thing is the jet parts keep falling off and the cartridges last less than two months. I've tried everything and have already gone through 3 cartridges since September 2020. We use the spa 3-4 times a week and I am on top of cleaning it twice a week. Bummed as the cartridges are expensive and we were told we would only need to change it every 4 months!~ Not true.

Alex,
Thank you for your feedback. I am thrilled that you love your spa. I am sorry to hear that your jet parts keep falling off, and the salt cartridges do not last the average time frame, as they should. I want to learn more about your water care and help out. I will DM you for more information. I appreciate the details, and I look forward to working with you soon.

We bought our Caldera Tahitian from Basement and Backyards April of 2020 for almost $10K. I wanted a cheaper spa but my husband wanted to spend more on a tub that would "not require much maintenance", little did we know that nothing would work correctly on this tub. We were so excited to get a healthier salt water tub but unfortunately this tub's salt water system never worked despite dumping the water over 6 times, buying at least 4 salt water cartridges. Caldera will not help you if you call them. They just continue to sending us to the vendor who no longer responds to our calls. They take no ownership of the issues with their brand new tub! We are completely stuck with this now almost $11K lemon (with the additional features we bought) and we have absolutely no recourse, so much for the "warranty" we were told we would get with this investment!
From the beginning we had issues. Upon delivery of the tub we were told that the installers would know if the tub needed to be leveled. The installers were rude and broke my pavers and told us no need to level the tub. When the owner Derrick came out to get the tub/salt water up and running he told us we needed to pay the installers to come back to level the tub. Over the next couple months we could not get the salt system to work correctly, Derrick sent out a guy who barely checked the tub and told us "it smells good and looks good so it must be good" however no chlorine would register in the tub without us manually adding.
For our anniversary we decided to get the stereo system since the tub was sold with speakers. My husband spent 2 days on his hands and knees installing and getting other opinions of why the stereo would not work only to find out once Derrick sent his stereo guy out that the speakers were bad and they would need to be replaced at their expense. Strange that they would be bad on a brand new tub? Once they were installed we could never get the Bluetooth to connect to the phones so we could listen to music in the tub, complete waste of another $600.
We are now 9 months out and we have never gotten the salt system to work, the tub foams every time we use it, stereo still won't connect and Caldera just keeps sending us to Derrick who does not respond. This tub has been the root of so many arguments in my marriage and continues to disappoint. We have now spent over $11K with upgrades and endless amounts of water and time trying to get it right which has yet to happen.. it disappoints us daily. Our friends went to GA Spa and love their salt water tub from hot springs, wish we could say the same. If we had to do it over we would have never purchased this investment. Buyer beware.

Caroline, Thank you for reaching out to Caldera. I am genuinely sorry that your experience so far has not been pleasant. I want to help you with your saltwater system; you should not be going through cartridges that quickly or changing out your water. I also want to address any concerns you may have with your Tahitian and help work with your local dealer for service. I will DM you for more information. I look forward to working with you soon. I purchased in spring of 2020 from Deans stove spa in Ct. Spa was delivered broken then touchscreen repeatedly fails-found spa on last week at 116 degrees! Called dealers. Two weeks now no response and Caldera promised to fix this summer but they appear to be disengaged with local dealers- a lot of empty dreams and promises.

Marty,
I am genuinely sorry that it is taking so long for this issue to be resolved. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I will contact Dean’s Stove and Spa and help get your spa back on track.

Updated on 3/9/2021: We were in communication with Vanessa from customer service at Caldera Spas. I have been waiting for a response from Vanessa since 12-29-20. We have not had any of our issues resolved. In December they had told us that they would replace our cover at no charge to our Cantabria spa which hasn’t happened. Our Bluetooth premium sound system still doesn’t work. Our multiple plastic jet covers still falling off. The one pump occasionally gets loud etc... just would like a phone call or email or something. Thanks.
Original review: We upgraded (I thought) our 8 person Hydrapool spa to the larger Caldera Cantabria 2 years ago. This unit is their top of the line including Bluetooth sound system, 3 pumps, 72 jets & hydraulic cover. 1st major problem, on a chilly Pittsburgh night we enter tub with a water temperature of 104. Within an hour we have to get out, the temperature is now 98 & can’t keep the desired temperature. 2nd. The very expensive Bluetooth sound system with subwoofer only worked once. My 3 children are all engineers & know how to set up Bluetooth & an iPhone. It’s the spa will not receive a signal. 3rd. The 72 jets that there are all have cheap plastic rings.. Usually opening the cover there’s a few swimming around, after numerous times reinstalling them I got mad & wizzed them out in 4 acres of grass & let the tractor take care of them.. Think the tractor has aroound 12 victims.
4th.. The cheap cover.. When it rains it gets puddles on top as if someone was jumping on it which is not the case, also the material is cracking everywhere & needs replaced from 2 years, my old Hydrapool spa had just 2 covers in 15 years of use & also this 2 year old cover that is properly covering spa is a poor design because I see steam leaking out in multiple places. 5th. Every once in a while one of the 3 pumps gets noisy so I just shut that one off. 6th would have to be the price. My wife got it for me for my birthday & didn’t tell me the cost but think it was in between $15,000-$20,000 & considering #7... getting in & out is tough.. No real inside step or anything & the glass surfaced control panel is where your hand has to go so my wife which is skinny broke the glass panel getting in..
8th. So with all these issues we really don’t use the spa often, my neighbor bought one from a home show for 1/4 the price of ours & we’re in theirs more, my kids & their friends agree especially when after an hour or so you need to close the cover to get the temperature back up.. That’s all the cons.. The pros if I had to pick one would be the water circulation is good & the water & spa stay clean.. Sorry so long of a review but it’s all true. ✅

We purchased a Caldera Salina in February of 2020. We went with the saltwater system as we were told it is little to no maintenance. The hot tub itself has been a very welcomed addition to our home and we use it about 3 times a week. Unfortunately the salt cartridges that we were told should last about 4 months have only been lasting about a month and a half. Big difference when a year supply is about $300 dollars. When we contacted Caldera about this we were told our dealer would reimburse us with more cartridges but the dealer sends us back to Caldera. Beginning to feel like the level of support goes out the window once they get your money. Not sure where to go from here but now I'm stuck with $900 a year in cartridges cost.

I ordered a Utopia Cantabria, the most expensive spa. The dealership said I needed to order something already on order in order to receive sooner & that I'd get it sometime in November. I didn't receive any communication. I called twice. It took 4 mo instead of the estimated 3 and while I understand Covid is making production times longer, it shouldn't be this long. The thing that makes me most angry is that I ordered a cover lifter and cover and didn't receive either. I was told that there is a Vinyl shortage & they had no idea when I'd receive the covered. They lent us a used cover but no cover lifter. I called another company and they say they can get me a cover in 8 weeks. Since I don't know what to compare that to I'm leaning toward buying one from someone else. So disappointed.

As you know, demand has increased for all hot tubs (including covers) and left some 3rd party manufacturers working around the clock to supply parts. Due to supply shortages and the fluidity of when they will be available, delivery dates have been longer than usual.
I know this is not what you wanted to hear; I'm sorry. These are the circumstances we are working with; as soon as we know more we will notify your dealer.
Thank you for your patience in these unprecedented times.Vanessa-CS

BEWARE! Bought a Cadera Geneva Spa December 2016 in the tune of over $13,000. Last May of 2000, I discovered the spa not working. Called local dealer to repair under warranty. They confirmed the spa was still under warranty and referred me to Caldera Watkins Manufacturing Warranty Department. To make a very very long story short, I had called and emailed many times over a two month span to only be promised a call back to arrange repairs. Never would get those returned promised calls. I called local dealer to fix and would pay out-of-pocket just to get it done.
Replaced heater and pump at a cost of $769.76. The local dealer called Watkins to see if they will warranty the repairs and they said they would and I would not have to pay out-of-pocket. Once repairs were made, I was presented with COD bill because local dealer could not get confirmation from company to pay for repairs under warranty. (Basically had same non response as I experienced.)
Now, December 2000, I still have not been reimbursed. I have called and emailed company as well as the local dealer calling company assisting me to get a response from Watkins to no avail. This company will not stand behind its warranties! My advice is to stay away from all products from Watkins: Caldera, Hot Springs, Freeflow, Jetsetter, Costco Spas. Just look at the other reviews... And, just another annoying thing, the speakers (warrantied 1 year) crapped out shortly after a year. No matter, they sucked anyway, they sounded like an AM transistor radio underwater.

Thank you for your time and for reaching out.

We bought a Caldera Salina model in February 2019. We bought the 8 person model because we have a family of five. The first 3 months were amazing! After that we ran into serious issues trying to keep the spa running. We had the tech support out 6 times in 4 months and they tried to charge us for his visits, he couldn't even fix the issue. Our spa shuts down into safety mode almost every day, we contacted every possible person to walk us through what we need to do and still nothing has happened. We have the fresh water salt system which was an additional $1000 for less Maintenance and lower yearly costs.
We have to buy the cartridges in three packs which costs approx $225 which should last the year but they don’t, we go through almost 1 cartridge per month. The company says it’s due to excessive use, 3 kids and 2 adults should be able to use the spa daily in an 8 person tub. Anyways the whole company is a waste of time and so was this huge purchase, I look forward to the day I can justifiably purchase a new spa from a different company... Stay away from caldera!!! -$13,000.

We purchased the Caldera Salina in February of 2015. Within the first 6-months the outer shell started cracking. We ended up having to replace just about every panel as they were all cracking. No issues with getting new ones which was nice! Customer service was great for that. The tub worked great for the next couple of years, then things started breaking in late 2018. First the speakers stopped working on the stereo, next the air valves stopped working, then a pump stopped working, then the leaks started happening, and then the machine just wouldn't work in late 2019. Everything was under warranty, except for the stereo.
The technician was confused with some of the details of the hot tub. He ended up cutting one of the clear tubes to try to get the air valves working again. That didn't work. Not sure which pump stopped working, but one of them is still leaking. I have to put water in the tub every week. It feels as if we got a lemon...and now we are stuck with it.

We paid an extra $1000 for the Freshwater Salt System in our Caldera Salina hot tub floor plan. Our dealer said they personally have a Caldera and routinely get 4 months of use out of the consumable conductivity cartridge that is the part of the system that generates chlorine. Based on what I was told, that was fine, because maintenance costs would be about $300 per year. Surprise!!! Try 2 or less months of life per very overpriced cartridge.
My water has been tested often by my dealer, so that’s not the issue, and they’re at a loss to explain why I’m now going to have to spend more than double that per year to keep the system working and chlorine levels normalized. I’ve seen this same complaint all over the internet. Watkins (Caldera) needs to either solve this problem or eventually someone is going to file a class action lawsuit. OR, they could just make the cheapo cartridges reasonably priced... not $75 a piece. 10 months in, I’m not very happy at all with my Caldera spa as it stands right now.

I look forward to working with you soon.

My wife and I are experienced Spa owners. We bought our third Caldera Utopia Niagara Spa in October 2019 and chose to try the FreshWater Salt sanitation system. We love how the water feels and when the FreshWater Salt cartridge is working, it works great! Once adjusted for your usage level, it maintains the proper amount of chlorine with no intervention. I do occasionally need to reduce the PH levels which is expected.
However and unfortunately, the cartridges only seem to last about 6 weeks which is a FAR cry from the advertised 4 months (16 weeks). Our service technician upgraded the FreshWater Salt controller to a newer version, but it hasn't improved cartridge life. We only use the tub once or twice a week and keep the Salt system setting at "4". This maintains the chlorine right where we want it. But after 6 weeks it just stops working and the only cure is a new cartridge. Removing and re-seating the same cartridge does not help.
This increases the cost of the cartridges from $250 (3 cartridges @$83 ea.) a year to $747 (9 cartridges @ $83 ea.) a year!! That's 3 times the number of cartridges and expense than advertised. Way not good and very disappointing. What are your thoughts and experiences with the longevity of the FreshWater Salt cartridges?
Regards,Bob

We bought this spa new. It arrived without the electrical panel which was corrected by the dealer. It was then found that the installed heater hose was too short- it was completely kinked shut. An exterior panel cracked; a new one was shipped and I installed it. Water started pouring through the speakers shortly after the 2 year audio warranty expired. Now the spa plumbing leaks from under the tub. It is still under warranty but no one will even look at it! We have been trying for 5 months to get it repaired. And more panels cracked. This spa is only used by my wife and I. We are meticulous with maintenance and I only use the Caldera recommended chemicals. As a reference, my previous spa needed only one minor pump repair in 15 years of use. I should have kept it- I could not be more disappointed with the quality of this spa and the warranty support.

When I initially purchased my Kauai tub they had to deliver and install three separate units until they finally found one that worked. Even that one has a problem that they couldn't fix and I've been stuck with it ever since... Every time I change water I'm forced to open the panel up and release air from the main hose in order to allow the jets to work.
Other than that 'inconvenience' the tub functions OK and, until now, I have had no further problems. Recently the tub controls locked up and I couldn't turn it off; flipping the breaker OFF then ON didn't work either. I called the store and asked for guidance and was told they needed to send a tech out to investigate/fix it. The Tech arrived about 10 days later, spent 10 minutes here and charged $176. The solution to my problem: hold certain buttons down for 3 SECONDS! ...a simple fix that could easily have been conveyed to me over the phone when I reported the problem. Disappointed.

I purchased a Hot Tub in 2016 from The Pool Guys in Kalamazoo Michigan. I know this is not Caldera please continue reading. The spa was a lemon. The second month the pump went out the fourth the speakers went out. These problems continued for the entirety of the warranty. Caldera extended the warranty because they did not want to replace the Tub. I was very adamant that the tub should be replaced. Susan at The Pool Guys said that they could not because Caldera would not let them. March of 2019 I received a promotion with my job and moved to Chicago. When we moved to Chicago the same problems continued. The office manager David ** took over our case and assigned us to a local dealer in Chicago. The companies name is Turbo Tubs in Naperville IL. The owner's name is Jay.
They came out to work on the Spa and he said that the motors were cheap and the circuit board was bad. He replaced the parts and now the Spa is working minus the speakers. They replaced the Circuit board with a older model. I asked Jay to come back out to replace the circuit board so that we can have our music with our spa he said he's not coming out anymore to my home for free, though we were paying trips charges.
David ** was a manager at Caldera Spa's which I started working with him July 16, 2019. He told me that he would stand by the product but he will make sure that Turbo Tubs finished out the problems with the Tub. He also said that he would pay the two $80 trip charges that Turbo Tubs charged us. Just recently David ** passed away. On the 23rd of September Lisa a rep at Caldera said that she seen in the notes that David ** said he would take care of the trip charges. I called yesterday to collect the charges from Turbo Tubs and he said that I would be getting them directly from Caldera. I told him that I would reach out but David ** said that he would be refunding me directly. Maryann from Caldera and Jay from Turbo Tubs talked and since David has passed away they said they can't now find the records. Just two days before they both acknowledge that they had it noted in the records.
My hot tub is still broken with no speakers but the pumps are working. I am a family that has four kids. My oldest is 17, my middle is 15. then we have twins are 10. We are a modern family. I can't make this kind of stuff up. The reason that I am following up is because an employee passed away and his co-workers are not living what he seemed to stand for.

I have had a terrible experience with my Caldera Spas and would never purchase one again. I own a 2017 Caldera Marino Hot tub. I am from Saskatchewan Canada and this winter my hot tub froze up. As we had a very cold winter each night, I would go out to make sure my hot tub was running. And the night I didn't, for some reason the breaker tripped and all my lines froze up in tub. I emailed Watkins and they told me they would forward my complaint and then never heard anything back. So this spring when everything thawed, started up my tub, and was very lucky nothing was damaged. It runs an hour, and blows main house breaker.
So had a techie come out, and replace circuit board, and top front. And when I had came home from work, I found my tub quit again and blew main breaker again. So contacted the business where I purchased tub. Haven't heard a word, and waiting now for my electrician to recheck wiring. All pumps and jets work, but when it's heating it blows main house breaker. What frustrates me more is, this tub is on warranty and why is it that the business seems to blame consumer that it was something you did wrong. It's close to 4 months now and my tub is still not running. I am very frustrated and just want a different tub.

I am sorry that this has been your spa experiences. Our spas are being used in many cold environments and I can understand your frustration with it freezing. I am glad to hear that survived the thaw. However, not sure what the current issue is but I would like to know more to see how I can help.

To start, we had an amazing experience with Caldera and especially Carol, Read on to see why we will always come back for all our hot tub/spa needs. Especially with today culture, it seems everywhere you go it’s about how much somebody can sell you, a lack of knowledge and truly providing an uplifting experience. To be fair, when we walked in we had already done our research and were pretty clear on what we wanted for our family. Carol met us with such a warm personality, uplifting and truly cared if we were having a wonderful day. Expecting the normal sales approach, we explained what we were looking for, and she had no issues finding what we wanted on our terms.
The reason we chose Caldera Spas was because of the longevity, reputation and quality. Carol knew every hot tub inside and out, Caldera or otherwise, she knew the warranty and even with an obscure electrical connection issue, she found the answer which was a change in the latest version and was not documented, but she did not only just find the answer, I can’t stress enough how much she CARED about finding, learning and knowing the answer for future questions. We had checked with a few other places before, only to be met by pushy, stubborn individuals that didn’t even know their own product, Carol and from what we can tell everybody at Caldera are on their A game.
As far as the ordering experience, the spa that we chose was ready before we were and they were able to hold it for a couple weeks while we prepare, the instructions for care are much easier to read and perform than some other spas, the heater/jet combination was exactly what we wanted. Even though we chose a model that was 240v, it comes built in with options for 30 and 50 amp service so it fit our existing house electricals which has Solar, electric stove and Forced air and they have one of the largest selections of 120v spas. I really can’t say enough good about our experience and I sincerely appreciate the amazing compassion, salesmanship, knowledge and quality!

I am pleased to know that you are enjoying your spa and had a great experience with the Caldera Spa dealer, especially Carol.
Having support like that makes for many years of Happy Hot Tubbing!

I bought a Caldera Utopia Cantabria Hot Tub back in 2012. At first it was very enjoyable. About three years in we noticed small cracks around the top outside of the tub shell. They replaced the tub quickly and efficiently - no issues. Then tried to figure out why the cracks appeared and concluded (without any research, only conjecture) that the heat from the adjacent windows caused the cracks and they would not cover our tub if it occurred again; the cracks reappeared... It is kind of a visual deal - tub operates fine. Now, the tub stopped working and we cannot get a service technician to come work on it. The company's fix is to wait for 6-8 weeks (at least) for the closest center to send a technician out. The store has been fine to work with but the Watkins Manufacturing Corp. that makes and should service Caldera brand tubs has not been helpful in locating anybody who can service the tub. They do not care about customer service - only sales.

We contacted the local dealer and they sent an employee out to check it out. They'd had me turn off the unit at the breaker box because they were concerned it might be the pump, However, when the employee arrived it did not make the sound when I turned it on. It was freezing so we didn't do anything else. Back booming within an hour. He came out another time and heard the sound and it stopped immediately when the front panel was removed. I was told it was a vibration that he could easily fix it Monday. Well, it is Friday, the spa is still not fixed. Just about ready for them to pick it up and refund my money and I will buy elsewhere.

Shelly, I am sorry that you are not having an enjoyable spa experience. Can you tell me if the dealer ever made it back out to your spa and fixed the noise issue? If you need further assistance please contact us. Thank you for your post. Vanessa - Caldera Spa Customer Service

Our fairly new spa has globules of oil on side and surfaces. When we went to the dealer they sold us expensive chemicals for a flush and told us to drain the spa. We are on our third flush and now the globules are more like melted PVC pipe, small white granules. This problem is not a cleaning issue. We've owned a spa for 25 years and never had a problem. This is an internal mechanism issue that the dealer will not admit.

I have had a Caldera Spa for the last three years and have a number of things go wrong with the tub. It has always presented a problem getting Caldera to handle the warranty claims and have used my hot tub repairman to facilitate these claims. Caldera changed their warranty provider approximately three (3) months ago and now the local vendor has not responded to my request for assistance over a month ago. The company doing warranty work locally here in SC is Pool Werxs, now called Barrier Reef Pools. I called them for assistance a month ago and I have yet to hear back from them. This is an unacceptable business practice for any business especially one responsible for warranty claims.
In addition, to the aforementioned problem with Caldera, I ordered parts from Caldera Spa Parts Plus on 5/11/18 and as of this writing I have yet to receive approximately 1/3 of my order. I called and spoke to a customer service representative Bernarndo who assured me a week ago he would ship the missing part of the order. Now after a week I still have not received the 1/3 of my order and now no one answers the phone or respond to my email. I have initiated a dispute of the credit payment and want the public to know that Caldera and its representatives are unresponsive and difficult to work with.

My first Caldera has within 1 year leaking issues, I call the dealer and they most call the importer (Belgium). But everything takes a long time, so I go to the dealer and told him sale me that Caldera (it was in the showroom) so I have quick another jacuzzi. I, most pay 2000 euros more for the new spa. It has a sound system so ok I pay and the problem was solved. But now 13 months further I have again leaking issues. 3 speakers are completely damage and leaking. Now they have closed the sound system, and my money the 2500 euro is disappeared. Nobody pats me back.
