Acclaimed Home Warranty coverage and plans

Acclaimed Home Warranty offers four plans: New Construction, Standard, Ultimate and Ultimate Plus. The bones of each plan are similar, but coverage and cost differences may depend on the state in which you’re seeking coverage.

Plans start between $520 and $600 for 12 months of coverage for a condo, townhome, mobile home or standalone home. The company also offers a wide range of add-on coverage for everything from water softeners to pools and hot tubs. Service call fees are typically between $75 and $85.

You can make a claim 24/7, though Acclaimed Home Warranty must approve all claims for coverage to apply. Under normal circumstances, you’ll get service within 24 to 48 hours; however, the company tries to expedite service calls within 24 hours for emergencies. The company typically selects its contractors, but homeowners can seek approval to use their own contractors.

Plan details

Add-on coverage

Optional coverage expands the items included in your home warranty. You can add these items to any plan level. Costs vary depending on the state.

What does Acclaimed Home Warranty not cover?

Acclaimed Home Warranty makes it easy to find out what is covered and what isn’t. Each state plan details exactly what is included, what optional coverage is available and how much each plan and add-on item costs. Some items, like fireplaces and roof leaks, are only covered in certain states.

Plans cover issues due to normal wear and tear only, and the company reserves the right to seek a second opinion when evaluating claims at its own expense. Problems resulting from misuse or improper care are not covered. In addition, non-mechanical parts that aren’t essential to a system or appliance's primary function are not covered. Your Acclaimed Home Warranty plan also will not cover items that were already malfunctioning before the starting date of your contract.

Acclaimed Home Warranty cost

Acclaimed Home Warranty plans start between $520 and $600 for 12 months of coverage for a condo, townhome, mobile home or standalone home. New construction starts a bit higher, ranging from $649 to $695. Costs vary somewhat between states.

Acclaimed Home Warranty annual pricing

Compare with competitors

Acclaimed Home Warranty covers all the standard systems and appliances, and it’s a good choice if you want to add extras like a guest house, pool, hot tub, central vacuum or additional refrigerators. It also has lower service call fees than most home warranty companies.

The service call fees are also one set price, so you don’t get charged a different fee based on the type of service. Depending on your state, you’ll pay $75 to $85 per call — many other home warranty companies charge $100 or more.

Unlike other home warranty companies, Acclaimed Home Warranty is only available in five states. The company also shares little information on its website. You'll have to call to find out about business hours or even an office location. However, it does offer transparent monthly and annual plan pricing online, which many other warranty companies lack.

This is the worst home warranty company I have ever worked with. It’s possibly the worst company in terms of customer service that I’ve ever dealt with. I have been trying to get a contractor out to look at an urgent appliance issue for a week and a half now. Acclaimed home warranty has a service line that is NEVER answered (even though they advertise 24-7 service on their website). You have to leave a voicemail and hope someone calls you back (they rarely ever do). Then they will send you a text to start your claim but the text chain also is rarely answered. It’s nearly impossible to file a claim, which is the entire point of this organization. It’s been 1.5 weeks of rare communication with them and unanswered service requests even though I’ve stressed the urgency of my request.

They do not allow you to use your own contractor - you have to go through them or they will not honor the claim. They seem to only work with one local contractor for any appliance and if that contractor’s schedule does not work for you, then you are out of luck. I don’t understand how this company wouldn’t have multiple contracting companies you can choose from.

It’s amazing that acclaimed home warranty is still in business. This seems like a completely sham operation and frankly should be investigated by the Better Business Bureau or another similar organization. I wonder how many claims they pay out a year just from customer exhaustion and finding service providers on their own to pay out of pocket. If I could give them negative stars, I would. Do not use them for your home warranty needs!

Worst home warranty company I've ever dealt with. In Texas, they refused to cover a simple HVAC tune-up because they claimed the only HVAC company they contract with in the Austin area won't work with them. I called that company myself, and they told me the real reason—they won't accept the warranty company's $139 payment for the service. Seriously? One HVAC contractor for all of Austin and the surrounding areas? Their solution was for me to find my own contractor, pay out of pocket, and then submit a claim so they could decide if—and how much—they might reimburse me. That's completely unreasonable.

What happens if my HVAC system fails in the middle of July when temperatures are pushing 100°F? Am I supposed to pay $20,000 out of pocket to replace two systems because they don't have an adequate contractor network, then hope they reimburse me later? To make matters worse, they've denied every claim I've submitted, saying I need their "Ultimate Premium" plan—even though I'm already paying about $1,600 per year, plus an $85 service fee every time I need service. Save yourself the frustration and avoid Acclaimed Home Warranty. In my experience, they've been a complete waste of money.

Leaving this review because this company sends out intentionally misleading emails trying to get new customers, stating they need to renew their services (despite never being customers to start). Looks like this is one of many poor practices this company uses. And of course, they offer no way to remove yourself from their email list.

This is absolutely the worst warranty company I have ever dealt with in my life! Their vendors are awful. When you call in your claim they literally tell you on the phone it’s not covered. They also want to charge you multiple fees for the same service! Do not see go on for this garbage company! What a joke! AC service five days out in 120 degrees is unacceptable. The consumer should not have to suffer! This company seems to think it’s acceptable. You are better off with Old Republic or Fidelity home warranty! Don’t waste your money here!

I am disappointed that I ever signed up with this company. I also did not know they are not accredited with the BBB. Their feedback as a whole is not the best which speaks for itself. As with many warranty companies we expect them to honor their contract and too many times they refer to the term "we only cover normal wear and tear" with no definition of terms or timelines. This gets them to then issue a denial of claim for mechanical breakdowns. Zero effort is made to keep the customer from leaving and that indicates they do not care about long term business. I would strongly recommend you do your homework and solicit feedback before signing up with this company.
