Acclaimed Home Warranty offers four plans: New Construction, Standard, Premium and Ultimate. The bones of each plan are similar, but coverage and cost differences may depend on the state in which you’re seeking coverage.

Plans start between $375 and $450 for 12 months of coverage for a condo, townhome, mobile home or standalone home. The company also offers a wide range of add-on coverage for everything from water softeners to pools and hot tubs. Service call fees range from $60 to $75, depending on your state, but the overall coverage limit of $1,500 applies to all states.

You can make a claim 24/7, though Acclaimed Home Warranty must approve all claims for coverage to apply. Under normal circumstances, you’ll get service within 24 to 48 hours; however, the company tries to expedite service calls within 24 hours for emergencies. The company typically selects its contractors, but homeowners can seek approval to use their own contractors.

Acclaimed Home Warranty makes it easy to find out what is covered and what isn’t. Each state plan details exactly what is included and what optional coverage is available. Some items, like fireplaces and roof leaks, are only covered in certain states.

Plans cover issues due to normal wear and tear only, and the company reserves the right to seek a second opinion when evaluating claims at its own expense. Problems resulting from misuse or improper care are not covered. In addition, non-mechanical parts that aren’t essential to a system or appliance's primary function are not covered.

Acclaimed Home Warranty covers all the standard systems and appliances, and it’s a good choice if you want to add extras like a guest house, pool, hot tub, central vacuum or additional refrigerators. It has lower service call fees than most home warranty companies, and it’s one of the only companies covering unknown preexisting conditions.

The service call fees are also one set price, so you don’t get charged a different fee based on the type of service. Depending on your state, you’ll pay $60 to $75 per call — many other companies charge $100 or more.

Unlike many other home warranty companies, Acclaimed Home Warranty is only available in five states. The company also shares little information on its website. You'll have to call to find out about monthly payment options, business hours or even an office location.

Policyholders can cancel at any time. If you cancel the plan within the first 30 days of coverage, you can receive a full refund minus a $100 administrative fee. After the first 30 days, the company refunds on a prorated basis, less the $100 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by Acclaimed Home Warranty.
