Avoid at all costs. Our experience was so negative we can only laugh about it. TD revised (upwards) a supposedly "locked rate", demanded we escrow the first year insurance premium with them and failed to pay it, then paid it from escrow, then claimed the funds were not actually in the escrow account. The bank has also decided, almost 4 months post-closing, that they want an additional $2,000 escrowed to pay property taxes, even though there has been no change in the assessment. TD also hit us with a demand for a bunch of documents from third parties two days before the close. It is difficult, after this experience, to believe that TD Bank is competent to write mortgages. I will seek to refinance as soon as possible, and I suggest that those seeking a mortgage consider other, more competent, lenders.

Spoke with Customer Service on 9/27/15 to confirm account status. I wasn't using the account so monthly service fees were building up. I was told the account was open and active, so I switched direct deposit to go into the account. Mid-week I received an email confirming my request to close the account. I called CS because I did not make the account closure request. I was told the account was pending closure due to non-use. I explained that I'd spoken to someone over the weekend and we updated my direct deposit to go into the account. I was then advised to go into the branch to withdraw the funds from my account because the debit card had been closed.
9/2/15 I went into branch to retrieve my money as previously advised. Bank teller, supervisor, branch manager - no one was able to assist me. We called 800 # for assistance and they said I would have to wait 30 days from 9/29 for the account to fully close, and then 10-15 business days afterwards to receive a check-in mail. Even the branch manager was outraged. I've called Customer Service and spoken to several supervisors and still being told I basically have to wait.
In the meantime, I wasn't able to pay credit card bills, resulting in late fees and 30-day delinquencies as well as rent for my apartment. I'm now facing eviction because I was unable to pay due to neglect and misinformation from TD Bank. This has been a nightmare, as I get more and more frustrated as the days go by and I still don't have my money. Something has to be done. It's very unfair and unfortunate.

I have been banking with TD Bank for over 18 years now and have had multiple business accounts, personal checking accounts, credit cards and credit lines with them. They have recently been asking absurd and prying questions every time I cash a cheque. Some have informed me that this is now their government mandate due to terrorist activities in North America, etc. OK, I get that.
Today they refused to cash my regular paycheck because I have run too much money through my account this month. Due to the fact that I do purchasing on my visas for my church and organization, sometimes the reimbursement cheques can be fairly sizable depending on how long I wait between reimbursements. In short, the reimbursement money that goes through my account goes directly onto my credit cards from there. It's a simple accounting "in and out" procedure.
In spite of explaining this to the manager and the teller at the front desk, they have refused to cash my cheque which means my mortgage will bounce unless I get it cashed elsewhere. They also said that I was welcome to leave TD Bank as a customer because I would find that all banks had the same policies. I did all this, by the way, without raising my voice or being obstinate.

I tried to close my acct due to non-use, and because I couldn't verify the "last 2 transactions" they said now I had to go into a "store" to do it. Hellllloooo... there were NO transactions on this acct since last March - how was I supposed to verify something that wasn't there? And last I checked, WalMart and Target are "stores" - what happened to "branches"? So now, at "America's Most Convenient Bank", I have to be INconvenienced and take the time to go in person what any other bank would gladly and helpfully do over the phone. I don't know why anyone banks at this Godforsaken place - they are the WORST! PS There is $31 in the account - not $31,000... Unbelievable... Idiots that can't think outside the box.

Looking over my credit report I found where I had supposedly made 2 late payments to TD Auto in 2009. I called because I had never heard of this company and didn't know who they were. I did have a car financed through Chrysler in 2009 but paid it off in 2010. I learned TD Auto Finance bought out Chrysler in 2011. I admit I did have 2 late payments in 2006 when my husband passed way and I had to close my bank account and forced to open one in my name only. That stopped the automatic drafts payments to Chrysler and it took me 2 months to find a phone number for Chrysler to restart the drafts on my auto payments. I called the dealership where I purchased and financed my car and even they couldn't tell me how to contact Chrysler or provide me with an address.
I paid my car off before my contract with Chrysler terminated and they never filed on my credit report any late payments, not even for the ones when I couldn't locate them back in 2006. Paid Chrysler off in 2010, TD Auto bought Chrysler a year later in 2011 and apparently looked back on my records and found where I had missed 2 payments. They then placed information on my credit report that I had made 2 late payments (30 & 60 days) for the year 2009 (not 2006 when I couldn't locate Chrysler). TD Auto says they have a right to put that information on my credit report because they now HOLD CHRYSLER RECORDS even though I never actually did any business with TD Auto and it doesn't make any difference to them that the loan was paid off early or that I never actually did any business with them and refuse to remove this info from my credit report!

I wrote a check out on the same day I made a deposit. The funds for the deposit were available the very next day, the check I wrote also posted to my account the very next day. TD Bank posted my debit transaction first and then my credit transaction which resulted in a $35.00 overdraft fee! I complained to the bank teller who understood exactly what I was talking about. She stated that this was a common practice by her employer and that it was completely unethical.

I went with my son to deposit a check that was made out to me as his custodian from an old account at PNC that I had closed. I was first told by "Amy" the teller that although we were both present and could show ID, that they would not accept the check unless it was deposited into another custodial account. I asked for the manager "Deb" who sat us down at her desk and also said they would not accept the check.
We then went to PNC where the original account was, the manager there spent a good 30 minutes with us explaining that because I was the custodian that really I should deposit it and then write a check to him. BUT that in most banks, they will accept me signing it over to him since we are both present and have ID. She then called the TD bank we were originally at and explained everything to them, and they said that if we came back over they would have the manager approve it and deposit the check. We went back to TD bank only to discover that the manager was the same "Deb" we had originally spoken to and she refused to accept the check. I then told them that my son would be closing his accounts with them if they would not help us. They let us leave without helping. I was not rude or disrespectful to any of them. We went to my own bank after that and deposited the check with no problem. Very poor service. NEVER AGAIN.

I received a settlement check from an accident that made me disabled so therefore I am unable to work and perform my basic day to day needs, which includes making a trip to TD bank every time I have an issue. My medical bills are piling up therefore I reached out to the Global Security department to find out a projected date of the hold on my check. This way I don't have creditors breathing down my neck and I would have a projected time in which I can let them know when to expect payment.
Upon going into the bank they couldn't provide me with a projected date just a bunch of maybe's and possibly's. I called this department, the young man on the phone stated "well the hold on your check starts today" because I only deposited the check today. I said "no I deposited the check Saturday so it should show as Tuesday since that was the next business day." Upon that point he got so disrespectful telling me he won't help me because I'm correcting him. When I asked for his name he got disrespectful and sent me to a voicemail. Thank you so much for kicking a customer while they are down and just trying to not get put into collections for medical bills. Next time hire someone that isn't so eager to get off of work and not help a customer something that they are being paid to do.

I am a realtor, and my buyer selected TD bank as her mortgage lender. I advised her against this, as they did not have a local presence, but their interest rate was appealing, so I sent the Sales and Purchase contract to TD as requested. The loan officer, Melissa **, was very resistant to talking to me about the progress of the loan. Would not give me any information, but assured me the transaction would close on time. I even called her supervisor, Renee **. Both assured me for the 40 days that the loan was in process, that all was going well.
48 hours from closing day, TD Bank has suddenly denied the loan. No explanation. TD had this file for 40 days, and at no time did they ever indicate that there was a problem closing this. Their customer service is horrible. They still have not let us know anything about the file, and closing is supposed to be in less than 48 hours. HORRIBLE customer service. I will always advise borrowers to steer clear of TD.

This bank will find any way to charge you money. In just a mere 7 months I've been 'over drafted' hundreds of dollars. If you're not confident enough to contact them and call them out, they won't give your money back. If you know they did something and charge you, you NEED to talk to them or they'll charge you. After a certain point, they won't lift fees, even if it was a mistake on their behalf. I requested (in person) for my card to be denied if I had insufficient funds. I was told it will take 24 hours to go into effect.
3 days later I contacted customer service (over the phone) with a question about my account, and mentioned that the service I previously requested of my card being denied should be in effect. They told me that it was never put on my account and ask if I would like for her to do it now. Of course I said yes. To this day I continue to get over drafted and my card does not get denied for something that was THEIR mistake claiming they've lifted fees before and no longer can do so. I'm closing my account when I find time to go in tomorrow. TD Bank are crooks to the core.

I have have had a checking account with a few banks for many years and have always been in good standing. Recently I've switch to TD bank and it is nothing short of a nightmare. I have great credit, pay my bills on time and don't have any issues of bounced checks until I joined TD bank. Their "pending status" does not list all transaction pending and I soon found out how bad the online balancing of check was. This month I have 5 overdraft fees. Their set up is actually what it is to consumers. "A set Up" to gain funds. This is how they stay in business.

I just returned from a trip to Atlanta. I tried to use my TD Credit Card for a Car rental and at a local Applebees. At both places my TD CC was declined. When I contacted the Bank, I was told that I was out of my area and they would not authorize my charges for my safety. I was told that I need to inform the Bank when I travel. Funny I never had to tell American Express or my Bank of America CC people that I was traveling.

In early August I spoke with a customer service representative at the bank near Grand Central to make sure that I was un-enrolled in TD Advance. The Representative assured me that he removed the service from my account, and that I would not be able to overdraft my account. However, the service was not removed and I was charged $595 dollars in 9 days in overdraft fees under the TD Advance program, despite requesting to be removed from the program. The fees snowballed, one after the other, and the only reason for the insufficient funds were the overdraft fees. In essence, the customer Service Rep failed to remove the service on my account as I requested, and I lost $595 dollars in a mere 9 days. Don't bother with this bank.

Recently I went into a branch with a retirement fund check I had. I had several outstanding accounts from the bank that I had to pay before I could open another one. I did so with this check and then they opened the new one for me. Something came up in the system and the CSR was prompted to call a number in which he did. They told him that I was no longer allowed to be a customer of their bank because of a check from back in 2014. I have no idea what they were talking about because I can't get an answer from anyone.
So they already deposited the check and told me they had to wait until it clears, usually 5 business days and then I can come in, close the account and take my money and go and just never do business with them again. Now I call to find out if the check is off hold and everyone is either giving me the runaround or will not take my calls. They said it's still on hold and they don't know why but a manager will call me which he hasn't. We are going on 8 days now. I called a customer service number and my account is blocked and she can't see anything. I am concerned - will I get my money back? Are they able to keep this? What if checks were written against an old closed account but no money came out? I am very concerned about the money I deposited because I really need it. Please help.

I received a $2,500 personal check from a guy we'll call Joe for tutoring services. I cashed it on Tuesday. I figured it would take a week to clear but I noticed they credited (added) $2,500 to my checking account on Thursday. I was psyched. I then made a wire transfer back to Joe for $1,800, leaving me the remaining $700 as my fee for services. He convinced me of this legit-sounding situation where he's been having marital problems and needed cash in his account, blah blah blah. I was skeptical but needed the money so I figured if his check cleared, then I'll send him money via my preferred method for security. Well, I wired the money, $1,800. A few days later TD Bank took back the $2,500 from my account. But it cleared! I called and went to local branch and they said the check was bogus so they took the money back. Wait a minute!! That was MY money. If Joe is using bogus checks then go after him not me. YOU credited my account. It cleared!
Nope. Their policy states that they are doing ME a service by giving me the money sooner because I have good credit, a good customer. I was supposed to remember and know their policy which states that it takes 7 days (or whatever) to clear and that, essentially the money they put in my account 'isn't really there'. It's for me to use at my risk. Bullcrap!!! I can't remember every single policy of all the things in my life! If they put money in my account, from a third party check, then THEY are claiming it's safe and THEY are taking the risk!! They said to file with the police. It's a criminal matter. Funny, the police said TD Bank took the risk and it's a policy issue with them. And they charged me an overdraft fee!!! Great! I told TD Bank a hypothetical, a non-criminal situation. I cash my employer's check, knowing they live day to day.
It 'shows up in my credit column' so I spend it, only to have that amount of money in my account taken from me because my employer has no money and they charge me overdraft fees through the roof. So it's MY job to go after my employer?! My bank shouldn't "do me a favor" by 'giving' me money before they determine it actually exists!!! Are you kidding me!!! I'm calling the AG. Then lawyers. This is WRONG!! I am not guilty. I used money that was in my account. It's deceptive! And they love it because they get millions in overdraft fees. I hate this company. I'm letting everyone I know how corrupt they are.

Sometime ago I hired labor from Complete Labor out of Manchester NH. I gave them my credit card info but told them I was going to pay cash. I paid the men cash and they kept the cash and told their employer that I just signed the receipt. A week later Complete Labor wacked my credit card. TD Bank took my money when I did not even have enough in my account. Attempts were made, so TD Bank says, to investigate and to no avail on my account. TD Bank says that Complete Labor has proof and documentation that I did not pay cash which they never showed to me because I believe their investigators did really nothing. TD Bank is now trying to get overdraft fees from me. I am disgusted with TD Bank and Complete Labor for not investigating properly. I always feel bad for TD's employees, it's not their fault that I'm mad. I've been a member with TD for the past 3 years. And every time I go in I find more reasons to switch banks. 1. It is not America's most convenient bank. They've never even heard of it out west, in upstate NY they're not open in Sundays and don't have coin machines. Which is strange. Considering it's a Canadian bank and it's minutes from Canada. 2. SO MANY FEES. 35$ overdraft fees. And then and other $35 returned payment fee. And then TD Bank Bill pay keeps pulling the payment and you get charged those same 2 payments 5 times. How long it takes to process deposits. But everything else seems to come out just fine. I've paid over $2k in fees this year alone. 3. $5 for a money order? Most banks if you're a member they're free. Even at Walmart or the post office they're around $1.
The only thing I like is the awesome online banking app with mobile deposit. But so many other banks are finally jumping in that bandwagon. TD Bank had been sued once for the way they arranged the order of payments. Clearly they didn't learn their lesson. Or even care. They're out to make money. And the people don't matter.

They threatened to back out of the contract multiple times and it was their fault dates were not being met! I have been a member for over 20 years including when it was Commerce Bank. Since it has been TD bank I have had many bad experiences but this is the worst. On November 1, 2014 at 6:30 pm I walked in and I waited to see a customer representative to see about closing my account due to a maintenance fee. Stephanie greeted me and asked if she could help me. While talking I had asked her some questions about a student account to see if I could get free checking. When she asked me my age she informed me that I did not qualify, as you had to be younger.
Therefore, I asked her to close my account and distribute to me the $250.28 that I had left in my account. She did all the proper procedures rather coldly without smiling or responding very friendly to me when I tried to spark up a small conversation, however, she did her job and exited to retrieve my cash. When she returned I briefly looked inside the envelope, however, I did not count the amount correctly. When I left the building I went to Wells Fargo, which is right next-door and began to count my money that she gave to me and I noticed that I was $80.00 short.
I immediately returned to TD bank and asked Stephanie if I had dropped any money because I was missing some cash. She became very rude and told me no and that she cannot tell me what I did with my money after I leave the bank and that she is not responsible for it. She also angrily said to me that she watched me count it in front of her. I was rather nervous due to the economy today and hoping that somehow she could help me so I nicely explained to her that I know and I realize that but I must have not counted it properly because I'm missing money and I only have 170.00. She then stormed off to the teller counter and disappeared from my sight. I had to ask the teller where she went and he told me she was counting the drawer. She then came back and gave me the 80 dollars and said sorry but never apologized for how rude and angry she acted. I closed my account and will never return.

I had several papers notarized at my local TD Bank branch a few weeks ago. No problems. They were glad to do it and there was no charge. I was very pleased. Yesterday, I had to get one more signature notarized for the same type of document. I called the branch to make sure the notary was going to be there. They said she would. They asked me what type of document I was going to get notarized. I told them. They said it was OK and to come on in. [BTW, I know that banks will not notarize wills. This was not a will.] When I arrived at the bank, the teller told me they could not notarize the document and I would have to speak to the manager. I went to see the manager and realized that she was the one who had notarized signatures for the same type of document just a few weeks ago!
She denied it, saying that they do not notarize outside documents, only their own internal documents! I couldn't believe it! I was livid, I admit, and going crazy, but I never insulted the manager. Then my wife had a great idea. She asked the manager to check her notary logbook. Sure enough, she had a record of our names, the date and TYPE of DOCUMENT clearly written in the log. Nevertheless, she refused to notarize our document and refused to admit that she was confused, let alone apologize to us. I closed my account on the spot, took the money in cash and left. This will be the last time I step inside a TD Bank branch. Goodbye, crappy customer service.

The money came out of my bank account, but the machine did no dispense any funds nor a receipt. For two days I try to get a written response from TD Bank, but nothing. This morning I checked my online banking. I noticed that my checking account was in a significant negative balance. I immediately transferred the money from my savings to the checking and then went through my statement. I wanted to see if I made a mistake and miscalculated the money in my account. I saw a pending charge for $175 that was dated today. I did not recognize the fee so I called TD Bank Customer Service.
When I initially started my account, I thought I had overdraft protection so if I overdraft my checking, the money would be deducted from my savings. Today I found out from the customer service rep that my account was never set up like that. I had $167 in my savings and my checking account was withdrawn by 12 dollars so I was charged $175 in overdraft fees. When I requested to speak to a manager, he stated he could only refund a fraction of the fees. You charged me $175 in overdraft fees and only returned $105. This is ridiculous. Your representative set up my account wrong And you charge me $175 in overdraft fees. You people are horrible. I'm already having enough financial issues and there you go taking my hard earned money. You have no respect for your customers. I will never refer TD Bank to a friend or family member and after today, I'm considering moving to another bank. I'm so upset right now.

Do not, Do not go to this bank! They will charge you so many scandalous overdraft fees. My disable brother has an account with TD so he only gets so much to live on and TD bank could care less for disable people! They charged him 2 overdraft fees totaling $70 and I had called to argue the fact to refund it and they were very adamant and penurious. They only gave one overdraft fee back. Then the very next day they charged him another $70 overdraft fee!! So I called again and their excuse was that he didn't deposit before 8pm. Although I clearly explain that there was enough funds and that my brother is disable and he only gets a minimum amount of money, they could care less and did nothing to help and to add that he also pays to have this account when other banks are free for having direct deposit. This bank really deserves a big fat 0!!! I will make sure he will be closing his account with TD Bank ASAP!

The wire transfer originated in Saudi Arabian Riyals @ 51,510.86 with an exchange rate as indicated on the wire transfer of 0.2663116, with a final amount of $13,717.94 USD. What arrived at TD Bank was $12,863.76. A difference of 854.84. TD Bank wire transfer refuses to provide how or why there is a difference between what left KSA and what arrived in USA. TD Bank wire transfer department refuses to talk to me. There were 2 separate wire transfers. One from SAPL to TD Bank, and another from TD Bank Canada to TD Bank USA. This I know for a fact because I was charged 2 separate wire transfer fees, one for 15.00 and one for 40.00. As well as the name on the original outgoing transfer differs from the name on the incoming wire transfer.
TD customer service told me that SAMBA financial as well as SAPL (my employer) may have forged the wire transfer receipt, or that there were 2 and they just didn't tell me about the 2nd one. I was also told by TD that just because I have a wire transfer receipt doesn't prove that's the transaction that happened. That a receipt could have been generated before the transaction, not after. I was also told by TD Customer Service that somebody from SAMBA or SAPL's principal accountant may have entered in the wrong numbers, again eluding to the fact that a wire transfer receipt is not proof of a wire transfer. TD stated that they have NO possible way to trace the wire transfer, only the outgoing entity can do so. I took this information to SAMBA and to SAPL's principal accountant, whose response was, "our payroll account was debited to a specific amount, and the wire transfer receipt specifically gives the Saudi Riyal amount, the conversion rate to US dollars, as well as the US dollar amount."
The principal accountant for SAPL is a fellow US Marine, has a Masters in Finance, and has 7 years experience in the Middle East administering payrolls to over 17 countries. I find it utterly disgusting that TD Customer Service would accuse him as well as SAMBA financial of fraud or elude to the fact that a receipt is not really a receipt, and refuse to investigate.

He was extremely rude and responded as if I was disturbing him (he was talking on his cell phone when I approached his desk). Because of his rudeness and lack of concern I left the premises and phoned customer service at 1-888-751-9000. The representative gave me an explanation and reduced a portion of the fees inasmuch as she agreed that they were excessive $230. She reduced them to 140.00. I still was not in agreement, but it appeared that she was attempting to correct the situation. She also indicated that she would make a notation in the account to explain what she was doing and why. However, when I made a deposit to the account all of my deposit was applied to the fees.
I phoned and spoke to a lady named Sally who gave the I.D. Number **. She reviewed the notes and said she could not honor the notes made by the previous customer rep. and that she would request counseling for her. WHAT??? You charged me unexplainable excessive fees which one rep wanted to refund, and this rep. decides SHE will not, all the while repeating in the phone, "decisions, decisions, decisions". They charge you 35 dollars for everything. I had gotten overdrafted so much I went in the branch and asked them to decline anything that comes out of my account so hoping it would prevent me from having to pay more overdraft fees, well no it doesn't.
At TD BANK you will have your account declined for any payments with this "protection" yet they will still overdraft you. If anyone tries to take the money out of your account and it is not there TD Bank lets them withdrawal and as soon as they put it back they charge you an overdraft fee of 35 dollars!! every time and give you NO grace period like other banks!! So basically, they charge you 35 dollars even though you have this protection and even if the money doesn't withdraw but wants to - you have yourself 35$ fees. DO NOT BANK WITH THEM!!

I needed to make a deposit before I was overdrawn, so I had no choice but to drive 178 miles, just to go to a bank. There was every other bank you can imagine in this town, except TD. Doesn't that seem a little... inconvenient?
The app itself has a major flaw as well: it doesn't display a negative balance. So when I checked my accounts one day, I saw them all in the positive. So when I tried to make a purchase, I was confused as to why my account was in the positive and did not let me make a purchase. When I go to the ATM, that's when I saw that my account was severely overdrawn. That's very INCONVENIENT.

TD Bank had purchased some of our debt and watched our account. They noticed that we had the money in the bank and had their lawyers go to court and get a judgement against us to pay the debt they had purchased. We didn't know it was TD Bank behind all of this until we received a letter regarding a judgement and TD Bank was listed along with their lawyers. I was very angry and upset.
TD Bank made us pay payments for the judgement, which was very difficult for us and after we paid off the first judgement, they went and got a second one against us. So I think, TD Bank, you're so nice you'll definitely take care of this. But you put me through hell. First I talked to a teller. I explain the situation. She doesn't care. Bank policy blah blah blah. I guess giving me incorrect information doesn't matter. So I go over to the banker section. Two bankers, one customer. After standing there for 5 minute a banker finally comes over. "You're going to have to wait over there (across the room). Oh and by the way, it'll probably be quite some time before we're done." Thanks for nothing (That branch by the way is the Military/Linton branch in Delray Beach, FL).
So I go to another branch. I'll spare you the details, but suffice to say I got no help. You know what I had to do to get that charge removed? I had to go through customer service via email and threaten to close my account! But it worked and finally I got my $15 back. And I've kept the balance over $100 since then. So what does TD Bank do? My girlfriend and I applied for a mortgage on 3/25/15. On 4/7/15, we received the usual bundle of mortgage documents and the checklist of requested documents and things-to-do. By 4/13/15, we had completed and gathered all of the items, organized them into a binder, and had the loan originator (in person rep) fax them to the lending arm.
By 4/30, there had been no communication between the loan processor and ourselves, including acknowledgement of receipt of the documents. We spoke to our in person rep and were told that, for some reason, nobody had ordered: an appraisal, a title search or verification of employment. She apologized and promised to "speed along the process." One day later, on 5/1, the processor finally contacted us and an appraisal was ordered for the next week, along with a title search and employment verification.
During this time, 2 closing dates had come and gone (4/30 and 5/14). Following the second closing date, the bank has been totally silent on the status of the loan, the loan processor refuses to return emails or phone calls and our in person rep has all but washed her hands of us, saying that "we need to take it one day at a time" and likewise refusing to return calls or emails. This entire process has been a wholly negative experience.
As of this writing (5/27/15), we still have not heard from the bank regarding the loan. TD Bank is far and away the most disorganized, ineffective bank that I have ever dealt with. If I knew ahead of time that they would provide this much hassle and lackluster customer service, I would never have initiated a loan in the first place. Run far, far away from this bank.

I'm a single mother that lives paycheck to paycheck. I do my best in balancing out my account. I have two accounts open, one is for bill pay and the other is for fun and I also have a savings account. I recently made a large purchase so my savings have since been depleted! I thought I had lost one of my debit cards and since it's so convenient to go into a bank and get a new one I didn't bother looking. HUGE MISTAKE... One of the "personal bankers" helped me out and closed BOTH of my debit cards, she then only issued me ONE card.
Well this caused me to not have the ability to use my main card. Usually in the middle of the week if I'm low on gas, I'll overdraft my account, it's worth it in the end to pay the $35 rather than taking out a ridiculous payday loan that charges you an extremely high interest rate. Well, not knowing that both of my cards were cancelled I used card A to get my kids dinner for the night, which I had a few bucks in that account so I knew it would cover it.
Then on card B, I went to put gas in my car KNOWING that I was going to overdraft. Well card B didn't work because unbeknownst to me, it was cancelled and I didn't use it since getting the new card A. I didn't think twice about it! So now I'm stuck with the dilemma of having to use one card knowing that I'm going to overdraft twice now. It's a Tuesday night and I get paid Friday morning so I was hoping and praying. Well it didn't go over so well... If you don't already know, TD Bank is all about MONEY. They clear your large transactions FIRST and then the little ones come down. So once my account cleared on FRIDAY... This is how it happened. Gas $35 + $35 OD Fee - Wendy's $7.50 + $35.00 OD Fee - iTunes $4.50 + $35.00 OD Fee - Transfer $9.00 + $35.00 OD Fee = $56.00 in transactions ended up costing me an additional $140.00...
So altogether I paid $196.00!!! That's not even the worst part. The bank messed up and refused to refund me back my money!!! They made the error that caused me to use one card which then caused this ridiculous snowball effect!!! I think that I'm just going to carry cash from now on. You just really can't trust these big banks that only see you as a number and not a person with circumstances!!

After that I made sure to let them know I wanted overdraft protection and if my account does not have enough, to not let my transactions through. I checked my account today to see it was below 2.51. When I called the bank they told me they charged me $3 to check my account balance twice! Yes! Just for checking my account they charged me $6 in all. Then they would not refund my money back to me on top of that! I am beyond upset with this thieving corporation and first thing in the morning I'm closing my account out for good.

I recently ended up in the hospital for about a week, at which point I guess there were a series of pending transactions (that do not show themselves properly on the TD mobile app) that I did not realize were greater than the balance remaining in my account. It looks like I was enrolled in TD Debit Card Advance, and so these transaction went through. Obviously, if I was not bed bound and on a series drugs, I would have known that this was happening, and probably would have saved myself from the $245 worth of fees.
Upon calling customer service all they were able to do was remove $70 of that amount. If it was any other situation, I would have been grateful, but given that I did not ask to be sick, I did expect a little more consideration. Once I pay these pays I will be closing my account; not because I am blaming TD for my mistake, but simply because it felt like they just slapped me in the face and was like oh well. It does suck because I have been a huge fan of you guys for a long time, and do not want to leave, but morally I feel like I just been screwed over for something that I could have prevented if I was not in the hospital. I would have immediately paid that amount by the next day, as I have done in the past.

I found out weeks later after getting a late charge. After several email exchanges, "TD Online banking" informed me that the transfers had to be set up on the TD Credit Card site. Went there, did that... It appeared to work fine for a few weeks. Then lo and behold, ANOTHER LATE FEE! I went back to the CC site only to find out the transfers have STOPPED AND now there is NO evidence of a transfer capability at all - only a downloadable form to fill out to "create" a transfer account! And of course TD pleads innocent and says I'm still responsible for the late fees!

Just a month ago, I get this payment fraud from someone who stole my money to buy crap. $274.75 was the amount on which I didn't even have. I had about $107 in the account. Well, I called the merchant then my bank and then PayPal about it. Even though I told my bank it was fraud and I never bought ANYTHING on the site, it was purchased. They still did a fee of 175 dollars which made me negative 300 after another 35 (it was 'cause of a dollar was transferred to a different bank) was deducted.
So after getting the refund, I was still short. They only reversed 105 from the 175 and then they claimed that the 35 was gonna go back in 'cause the $1 was refunded back to me which was false. I called Customer Service and they kept saying it was PayPal's fault, which I already transferred the money to my bank that I had in PayPal which was all of it. I called them again stating the 35 and 20 (overdraft fee for being negative for 10 business days) should go back in because it wasn't my fault in the first place that I had those fees. So they were nice and gave them back, but they still owed me 70 from the first overdraft fee. So I called them back about it and they ** 'cause they were gonna give me more money. Well, hello? You owe me money from the horrible overdraft fees because you guys are stupid and think I would be dumb enough to keep paying so much money I don't have.
But wait there's more. I go to the bank, talk to one of the people. He actually had the balls to say it was only 15 dollars that they owe because he added the 35. And the 20 together with the 105 makes 160 and there you go, a rip off. :D - proclaiming that they never should have given me back the accidents of the 35 and the 20. So I called Customer Service again to see if I can be a good customer and they only gave me 20 back. I mean I'm somewhat happy that I ain't negative but seriously this company is money-hungry idiots that don't care about their customers at all. I want to be back to $107, not be about $80 under. They tick me off so much! I'm so going to a different bank period! I do NOT recommend this bank to anyone at all.

On December 27, 2012 I went to cash a cheque I received from Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) in the amount of $25,000. At that time, I had a no-hold deposit on my Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Deposits. There was a long line-up at the cashiers; therefore I decided to take advantage of this. I deposited my cheque through the ATM. I took out $200.00 and everything was fine. Until January 7, 2013, I was going to give my daughter $5000.00, and my husband took her to the bank to give her so she could deposit it in her account. We had no problems up to this point, I was using my debit card daily and frequently. My husband was then informed that the teller froze our funds, and that I would have to come into the branch to clear this up.
Now where I live is a 2 hour drive to the nearest TD Canada Trust. So the next day I drove to Winnipeg, I went to the Branch on Sherbrook and Notre Dame. I went to a teller and he went to get the manager. I told the manager that I wanted my account unfrozen that I want to have access to my money. He then asked me where the cheque was from, the amount and why I got such a big cheque, I told him what he wanted to know and he then called MPI to get a confirmation on the cheque. The line was busy and he told me it might take 10 minutes, so I told I would wait (even though I had already waited 20 minutes), then another 20 min went by, the manager then asked if he could call me and let me know everything was okay.
I said I could go to my nieces, I was not feeling well, and went over there, and I was there for 2 hours when I asked my niece to take a message when he calls, I had to go to the doctors which diagnosed me with pneumonia. Anyways after the doctors, my niece called saying that the bank call finally came in and he said everything was okay. Just okay no apology.
In March I called bankline to transfer money from my savings to my checking account the telephone rep then told me I did not have access to my savings account and that I would have to go into a bank branch and talk to the manager. So again I had to take time off work drive 2 /12 hours just to do this, the manager told me that it had on my file suspicious activity, and she couldn't see why as I had very little money in my account. Again I had to wait while she looked into it, then she said I was done. My husband ** had the same happen with his savings also, but she said she could not do anything for him as he did not have his debit card on him.
A couple of days past and I called bankline to transfer the money from my savings to my checking and again the telephone rep told me I could not, that there was still a hold on my account. I called the Teulon Branch and spoke to the manager again; she was able to correct it over the phone. My husband travel to Winnipeg a few days later and he too had to wait for a couple of hours before the manager was able to change his.
I did not do anything wrong but yet my money was held, do you know how scary it was knowing that the bank is holding my money and will not let me have access to it, and putting on my file suspicious activity, when I did not do anything wrong. I had to miss work twice and travel 2 hours (one-way) both times, as well as my husband, I find this unacceptable. I had this checking account since January 1999, over sixteen years.
Now I find out the debit card only has a $100.00 available when I put cheques through the ATM, whereas before there was no holds. I feel like I did something wrong and by TD Canada Trust holding back my money and labeling my account as Suspicious Activity makes me feel worried as I do have my pay come into the bank deposit, is this going to be held at some point? Will I have to travel and miss work again? I pay 29.95 a month for this account, and should not have to beg for it to be the way it used to be. I earn close to 200.00 per day so missing two days work is not good to have to clear up something that should have ever happened in the first place. There is traveling, time, and gas.
On April 10, 2015, I gave my son a cheque to deposit for me at a TD Branch, and was they have a hold on it, he deposited it at Kildonan Crossing Branch, it was in the amount of $1500.00. After numerous calling to the branch they release 1000.00 of it, and told they won't release it until the 17, it is the 17 and I still do not have access to it.

So I am relocating from New York to Michigan and am in the final days of a 90 day marathon to close on my new house. Selling my home in New York was stressful enough and now I'm in the golden zone with a week left and the nightmare is over. Wrong. Enter TD Bank America's self-proclaimed most convenient bank. I contact my local branch to have the money wired to the title company and they drop the news on me that they don't do wires unless you appear at a branch office in person. Huh? I've been using banks for years and none of them have this policy. The nearest branch office is on the east coast so now I'm going to have to eat $1600 in airfare to fly out east and do this in person even though they have all my personal information and contact info.
This bank sucks beyond belief. Run don't walk for the nearest exit. They are neither convenient nor easy to use. They make things exceedingly difficult, their people by and large have attitudes and even when faced with the fact that you will cost them business they don't care. I suggest Key Bank (very easy to interface with) or Bank of America. TD is a disgrace.

TD Bank first began charging me overdraft fees excessively in November, October and December of 2014. They charged me close to $600 in overdraft fees in those months. The first time I called about a check that was pushed through before several previous ATM charges that were made several days before. When I called and complained, they told me that they processed from highest to lowest. Again, this happened in December but this time a direct deposit, which was highest, was made on the same day. I asked them why they didn't process from highest to lowest and as a courtesy they told me they would refund me half of the money which was $52.50. Thanks! I am responsible for some overdraft fees but what TD does is find loopholes and continues to charge my account.
For instance, on April 6th my husband used the TD card and went over the account by $13 and change. TD charged me $140 on $2, $5, $6 and $7 transactions. When I called and complained, they said they could do nothing. I put enough money to cover the account in on the 8th, after asking the bank rep if that would cover everything. I actually walked into a branch and called all on the same day. I was so angry I wanted to close the account that day but I had some bills and a direct deposit that were still going through. She told me to bring my account current and that would be it. I put over the amount of money needed for my account which gave it a $27 and change amount left in my account. I was fuming over the $140 charged to me. I reviewed my account all day on the 8th, for the remainder of that day, again all day on the 9th and my account was fine.
When I checked it the morning of the 10th, there was an additional $105 charged to my account in fees. I called immediately to ask what these charges were for and TD told me that when they charged me the $140, that it sent my account into a negative and therefore they had to then charge me for other charges that went through because of their charges. Are you kidding me? I am paying charges for your charges?? What logical sense does this make? After complaining to customer service, they told me they were only at liberty to return $35. They told me this was a courtesy. On the 8th of April, I had already sent a complaint to the CFPB which was followed by another on the 10th. So, currently, I have 2 complaints filed with the CFPB.
I am not saying that I am not responsible in the past for some of the fees but they are completely out of line and have not been consistent in hundreds of dollars that they have charged me. They continuously refer to how they have already extended me a courtesy. I tell them I don't care about a courtesy because it's MY money.

I'd called the branch to rectify the matter, and asked for a forgiveness of the associated fee since it was my first offense, to which the customer service rep agreed to. I thought that was the end of the matter, however, they never applied the credit, and then continued to charge me monthly until my account was not only drained, but in the red.
I never got any statements until they showed I owed them money. Then they made it a total hassle to rectify the issue, saying I had to come down to the branch if I wanted to dispute it. In March of 2013 I received a statement like the accounts were still open with his name still on them!! I called. I was told to write on the statement that this account was closed in 2010. I received nothing until May yet another statement saying my credit line was open and racking up 20$ every month and charging against the checking account. I've been off and on the phone for over a year now and I'm sick. One person says they can't even find the account, another said the account was closed in may of 2010? Impossible!
Then I was told today my line of credit is 500$, that it's up to 522$? My checking is overdrawn 177$ and my savings 77$ overdrawn? How is this. So basically today I was told if I don't have a receipt I have to pay a total of about 762$. I'm sick of fighting with them. Everyone I talked to was rude and told me I was basically screwed (** from customer service). I don't know what to do. I'm a college student and I don't make a lot of money to get an attorney or lawyer but this isn't fair. I did the right thing. I know I did my part. I even kept the receipt for 3 years and then 4 years and now 5 years later they are hustling me for money. I'm at a loss for words and very upset and angry. Something needs to be done to this company. They need to be investigated.

If your customer is upset, they might have a good reason to be upset. Don't threaten them because you're not in the mood, and if they clearly aren't disrespecting you, you must allow them to state disagreements about their account status in a respectful manner of course. Don't disconnect the call without any reasoning between the two of you and waste their time by going through the whole process again. You may not care at your department but to me, I expect the same courtesy that I was given when I first became customer as when I have a problem. TD Bank is generally good. This is my first encounter with this department so I am surprised by the agent's rude and adamant behavior.

Basically I just signed up with TD Bank about six months ago and there have been small problems here and there. Not to mention the $6 fees if you don't maintain and a $1 fee if you want paper statements sent. The last thing to put me over the edge was the past few days. Basically I put in $1000 cash into my account through a teller and paid $100 on the credit card. I am constantly back and forth from upstate to NYC and so since I just got to NYC I just simply didn't have my debit card word for 3 days!
So I'm in CVS buying stuff and the card on the third day is declined (mind you days after I just gave the Teller cash on the debit). So I call and the lady says it's all good, it was just a security thing. So I wait again like an idiot and boom!! It's declined again!! So I call back and finally I get a nice ** lady who actually stays on the phone with me and gets the job done but it takes her 45 minutes! She tells me that all of my TD cards (debit and credit) were deemed "suspicious" because I bought a couple $30 purchases at CVS near Albany, NY and then bought a few purchases at McDonald's/Taco Bell/CVS again in NYC!! I'm like, "You cancel and freeze my own real debit card money because of those small purchases?? Without even calling first??"
I've never had that really happen with any other bank, but with a credit card company when I did do something extravagant or pricey they would decline but then call. TD just simply said, "No, we're just going to make all of your cards invalid because you bought a couple small items and then we won't tell you by phone or email, or really anything." Then we will give you terrible phone people to act like they fix the problem (while it sounds like a ton of people were partying in the background) when in reality they are just getting you off the line. So finally it was "semi" fixed at CVS last night after I had to use "credit" button instead of debit because now my PIN number was erased too!!! To make matters worse I have another lunatic from TD call this morning about the security of the credit card! That was a complete disaster but I can't even spend the time writing about it now! TD Bank is terrible and I'm leaving the first chance I get!

My mission started 3 days ago. I opened a business account with TD bank since I currently have my personal checking and savings there. Everything was fine. A week after opening my account, the bank conducted a site visit to my business which they deemed as a courtesy visit, I was unavailable because I was with clients and my secretary advised them of that. A week passed and I was conducting normal activity until I went out of state for business purposes. At that point my atm card was unusable, I knew I had over 1000 in there.
I called the branch which told me I had to come in. It was friday night when I went to the branch on 57 ave and NW 7 St in Miami, where they informed me the manager had placed a block on my account because he didn't feel comfortable with the site visit. I was shocked, I was being discriminated against for an unknown reason. The worst part, They said I had to wait until he was back from vacation sometime next week to get my money. I was livid.
The next day, I went to another TD bank in Coral Gables, again the same thing. Then apparently the regional manager was advised of the situation of which he told the teller to transfer my business funds to my personal account of which had over 375 in overdraft fees and they would only release it that way. Again, I told them they could not comingle my funds that way, and again nothing was done. I spent 6 hours TD bank today, waste of time and I still do not have my money. I have been discriminated against, extortionized and plain wronged by this bank, and now it has become a personal vendetta with the manager, **, from the 57 ave. branch. Ridiculous.

I have been banking with TD Bank since about 2002. I'd been mostly happy until the last year or so. After years of avoiding TD Banks Debit Card Advance, I was told by a phone rep at TD Bank that it would act as an overdraft protection and I would be charged 35.00 for each OD, but that the check or debit card charge would be paid. On 2/19 I wrote an important check that over drew account by approx 500$ - aware that by 2/22 I would be depositing more than enough into that account to replace the OD. On 2/20/15 they bounced the check.
When I called then to find out why, I was told by this 2nd phone rep "Oh we can't tell you how much overdraft protection you have because we don't know - they don't tell us." WHO is "THEY"? I did not sign up with "THEY" for this debit advance - I signed up with TD Bank. Why did the 1st Rep promote it as OD protection - especially in light of the fact that the next REP CLAIMS they have NO way of KNOWING what the limit is? HOW CAN THAT BE??? Why would anyone sign up for a debit advance/OD Protection if it only provided a $.50 Buffer and COSTS $35.00 for EACH OD? (I mean - rep said they couldn't tell me so what am I to think?)
This is False Advertising and PURPOSEFULLY MISLEADING INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED. TD Bank has become increasingly bad with various fees and bizarrely vague answers to reasonable questions like the 5 above. They have not honored stop payments, they also regularly appear to swap order of checks presented or resubmitted so they show up BEFORE deposits - (CASH deposits) that were handed in-person to a teller BEFORE said check was originally written. By these various means they are Duplicating and Maximizing their fees ad nauseam. Over just the last 3 weeks or this combination of Fraudulent practices has cost me probably well over $200.00. I will be moving my 3 accounts AWAY from TD bank ASAP.

This bank makes it it's business to take every penny from you. They are convenient but I have noticed that they will hold checks before clearing and cash the highest first so as to overdraft many smaller ones. Deposited checks seem to take a few extra days for more overdrafts to occur so that when your checks clear they keep that money also. Customer service is rude and very useless and I suggest going elsewhere.
Read the other reviews and unless you can maintain a strong balance they will bleed you dry and then some. Before TD bought Commerce, Commerce use to have a dr edit acct attached to the debit card and overdraft fees were non existent. TD knows how to screw you and if you try legal action they are in Canada and it will go nowhere. Just when you think they screwed you all that they can, they will nail you with a fee for going under a limit.

I've been a TD Bank customer for about 7+years and have 4 accounts total (between business and personal). Overall my experiences with them has been definitely more positive than negative. My only quirks are the $25 fee they charge on domestic wire transfers, the non-TD ATM fees they impose on certain accounts, their completely outdated website/online banking (come on TD - spend some money and update it, people will love it then), and a few of their local branch agents are airheads (only a select few and I can pick them out so I know to keep tabs/avoid them, majority are pretty good).
I've dealt with their fraud department for an unfortunate business account issue and they honestly were very good, professional, quick, and completely took care of me (you don't wait on the phone for 10+ minutes like regular customer service for these guys!). The interest rate on their savings accounts is definitely the best out of all in my area, but interest on saving accounts sucks in general so what’s the difference, right? They have a free penny arcade (it takes all coin denominations) that cashes in your change for free if you’re a customer. Plus they're open 7 days a week, how many banks can say that?

When she or I would ask a question she would continuously and without stopping reciting page whatever of a fee agreement clause and when would try to ask another question she would just repeat it louder and louder and NEVER listen to a question. When I got on the phone and asked her for another rep she repeated the same recitation AGAIN. If you are a small online merchant, think very carefully before using the services of TD Bank. The fees are very high on a monthly basis and per transaction basis. We paid almost as much money last year in fees as we earned in gross sales. The bank also has outrageous early termination fees. When we terminated our contract one month after the automatic 2 year renewal because we are going out of business, the bank charged us a fee that was basically the equivalent of the total monthly fees for two years. We did not know about the two year renewal provision. Perhaps we signed a contract that included that, but that was 7 years ago. And even if we had, the terms of it as applied are grossly unfair.
In order to discontinue the merchant services we filed a closure request form. The bank did not notify us when it was accepted, nor did they notify us that any fees were charged. I had to call twice to find out the status so that we could close the associated bank account. After much time on the phone I finally found that the closure was accepted, that a review had been conducted, and that we were charged $500. We are moving our bank account and will not do any business with TD Bank in the future. I complained to the "customer service" person to whom I spoke and he said that a supervisor would call. Not yet. I don't want an explanation. I want the fees removed.

I purposely put my card up so I wouldn't touch it and I checked it the morning I got paid because I had direct deposit set up, and it said I overdraft $59.50 which I don't understand because I got paid that morning.
So I called the Widner location where I set up an account and I asked them to explain why I have a negative balance and I just got paid. No matter what your issue or question, TD Bank has a way to play it into their favor, meaning fees for you, either by catching you a fee each month randomly on your "simply free" checking account and then you call of course. They have no idea there aren't fees because you have met all the requirements. And the best part they would only reimburse that one month when I noticed it not the 4 prior I hadn't seen. They back date checks to take out stating that they do that from when it was originally pending, but their system obviously didn't get for 3 days later. And checks you deposit online take next business day.
And finally no matter what happens it is never the bank's fault but yours so pay those fees. Oh and they take highest bills out first for the day no matter what order they come out. That way if you overdraw they get to screw you over with the maximum amount of fees possible. So bank here if you wish, I mean if you like to give all your hard earned money to the bank rather than keep it.

They claim to have sent me few notices the following 3 statements. However, for some reason either I received these notices but disregarded them thinking they are credit card offers/junk mail, or maybe I did not receive them, period.
Now the original mortgage payment was 2447 online. So I kept making the payment based on that amount throughout June, July and August as opposed to the new payment of 2477, a 30 dollar difference. And they never bothered to call me, not one time. Not to mention they cashed my original payment of 2447 on time and as soon as they received it. And yet again, they still reported me 3 month late for the same 30 dollar oversight. As a result, they destroyed my credit rating. I went from 760 to 540. I am so angry. To me, that is a crime. Something should be done about these animal. But I will fight them till justice is served.

On 1/23/15 I had $53.27 in my account (not much but it was mine). No charges until the 26th when T.D charged $105.00 for overdraft charges which put me negative $51.77. Then charges came in 1/26 for $48.64, negative -100.41, $20. -121.41 $15, -135.41 and $10. -145.41. On the 27th I made a deposit of $1375.00. My acct. went to 1229.50, then on the 27th I was charged another overdraft of $140.00.
On the 30th of Jan. at 2.30 pm I called the customer service # 1-800-493-7562 and spoke with a CSR named Arthur, nice man but he couldn't explain why $245.00 had been taken out of the account. His only reason was that on the weekends TD bank will hold your transactions in like a backroom (not visible) until Monday. In speaking with him (and yes this is all on a recording) I heard another CSR, a woman saying to someone (WHAT DOES SHE WANT ME TO DO? BEND OVER FOR HER?! HA, HA, HA.) Don't know if she was talking about a boss, co-worker or customer (nice).
I commented to him, so I take it you’re in a call center. (I really didn't know what to say, I was kinda shocked.) With the lack of professionalism I could tell where the call was going (downhill). He said he was going to try and put the money BACK in my account but couldn't. If this was my mistake then why were they so quick to want to put it back in? Which he couldn't, he then had me speak with the customer service manager Amanda (not at all a nice person).
Her only explanation for the $105 being taken out was some charges were pending charges but the funds in my account would of covered the transactions and there was no reason for the -105 and the other $140. Were things the bank had done behind the scene?? What does that even mean?? I had her call off my statement from the 23rd till today (the 30th) and the numbers she called off in no way reflected what my online statement reflected since I was never in the negative to begin with.
I asked her, “Why the difference and why couldn't the bank make the statements match?” She said, “Because they just can’t.” I asked, “What do you mean TD bank can’t make them match?? This is online banking and it is YOUR website, correct? Then why can’t it reflect the true statement?” She proceeded to explain (in her rude manner) like I was wasting her day, what pending meant, overdraft meant and what the actual statement meant.
Any one over the age of 10 knows what these terms mean. She said the only thing she can suggest is to keep a registry because what TD bank reflects isn't a true statement, that they hold transactions back and you won’t ever see the correct amount. I asked her then why do they offer online banking if it isn't correct. I asked several time why the -105 when there was never a shortage in my account? I asked her why are you saying I overdrew 7 or 8 checks when the statement reflects 4?
The first one being their $105.00 which threw me in the negative to begin with. I told her I'm not trying to get anything out of her but a simple explanation as to why your records shows something entirely different than what the bank statements shows? My statement showed TD bank putting in, then taking out, then moving my cell phone bill for $48.00 3 different times. Why are they moving transactions around?
She then again went on with definitions. (Ironically TD bank did the same thing to me a week prior. I had a whole .28 cent in my account and they put a $70.00 overdraft charge in and when I called and spoke with a CSR named Crystal she said the same thing, that they do things behind the scenes that the customer doesn't see and she then credited back the $70.00). My question was that there was no activity on the account, no pending charges, no money going in or out, no explanation as to why they put a negative of $70. If there was a true overdraft then by all means charge me but there wasn't.
I asked to speak to Amanda's manager and she then stated that she is the highest level management in Maine and the only thing she could do was have an actual branch manager call in 48 (not including the weekends) hours, since they stop all activity and work on the weekends. I have no issue owning a mistake that I've made and if I need to pay for it so be it. What I can’t seem to understand is why can’t they do honest banking? Why the different amounts? If it’s black say black, white say white, what's so hard about that?
I also wrote a comment on the customer service website and asked for a call on this issue and no one has gotten back to me. I know I've only been with this bank for 8 months but I'm thinking that was 8 months too long. If you go thru a light that's green does a police officer pull you over and say "well, it’s going to turn red in 2 minutes so I'm going to give you a ticket anyway."
What's so hard about doing the right thing? Why make up the rules as we go and if you’re going to make them up? Shouldn't you at least know how the game works? If you’re thinking about going to TD bank take my advice and save your money. It should be illegal to do the type of banking they do.

I've had this checking account with TD Bank since August 2014 and haven't had any problems until December, when I caused an overdraft on my account due to miscalculation. I had about 6 small debits pending on my account, for which the amounts were already deducted from my bank balance. I made an ATM withdrawal at the end of the day, but I withdrew too much because I miscalculated by roughly $12.00.
The following business day, my bank account reflected that all of the debits and the ATM withdrawal were posted to the account, but in reverse order from largest to smallest, and with a total of $245.00 in overdraft fees! My ATM withdrawal was done at the end of the day, and several of the smaller pending debuts were from the previous day. And yet TD Bank rearranged my debits and withdrawal to show the ATM withdrawal occurring first, and the smaller debits occurring afterward - and that is NOT the order in which the events occurred! So they hit me for a $35 overdraft fee on 7 transactions instead of just one, as it should have been.
I called TD Bank and the customer service person was incredibly rude, shouting at me and telling me that "this is how we do things and you can't choose how the bank handles transactions". I told her that it is most certainly NOT the bank's decision as to how my money is handled and that it's robbery to rearrange transactions in order to impose the maximum in fees. She said they do it that way due to "overwhelming customer request". I sincerely doubt any customer has "overwhelmingly" requested to have their transactions swapped and rearranged in such a way as to ensure numerous overdraft fees!
The bank will freely admit that they are the ones who caused this many overdraft fees because of their handling of the transactions, but they won't do anything to make it right. In essence, TD Bank STOLE $210.00 from me. Haven't several other banks been sued and had to pay out millions for this exact same thing? I seem to recall Fifth Third Bank and maybe 2-3 others who did this funny business with transactions processing and had to pay out in class action lawsuits. So, why are the banks still doing this? And worse, getting away with it? I'm closing my account, they're not getting a dime from me for these overdraft fees.

Having banked with several banks over a number of years, TD Bank proved to be the most creatively deceptive institution that I have ever dealt with. Through this website, I am giving it a one-star rating solely because nothing worse is possible. In the lines that follow, in order to substantiate my claims, I will provide a factual example. Some time ago, the bank coerced me into signing up for its overdraft protection service. I say "coerced" because, for months I would attempt to log into my accounts, and every single time TD Bank would place on my computer screen an offer for the aforesaid service that I would have to deny in order to gain access to my funds.
Despite having rejected its advances hundreds of times, its system kept presenting me with this notice, which I found extremely frustrating and harassing. It was worse than having to say no to an obsessed prospective romantic partner. In any event, once I finally clicked yes, in order to stop its form of digital harassment, TD Bank proceeded to charge me hundreds in fees, although I had an overall balance that was greater than several thousand dollars. I would not recommend this bank to my worst enemy! Customers should be duly warned, and thus stay away at all costs.

TD Banks mission: “We will be the best run, customer-focused, integrated financial institution with a unique and inclusive employee culture.”
At the 1504 Third Ave. branch on December 11, 2014, at 7:45 AM, I had a problem with an ATM transaction. This is what ensued: I’m sure it is all on camera. 7:45 AM the ATM terminated a $60.00 withdrawal transaction prior to completion (due to an incorrectly entered pin I understood later). The ATM screen rolled back to the initial starting point. There was no notice that the transaction was cancelled. I did not try a second time.
I entered the bank and asked store supervisor ** (#**) for assistance. 7:50 AM. ** is the only person at a desk. Looking sullen and bored she’s drinking coffee and holding the phone. She does not acknowledge me. 7:55. ** finally puts her coffee down. I explained what happened. ** asks for the card, looks at her computer screen and says, “This is not you.” I explained that it’s my disabled ex-husband’s account. I withdraw his spending money every week (and make his deposits from this branch & write his checks). I made it very clear that I DID NOT expect her to give me money OR access to the account. I wanted to know if the money was subtracted without being dispensed. That’s all. ** said she could not give me information. Period. She said it twice and nothing more.
TD has a respected security history. **’s lack of assistance was not security driven. ** wanted to help two long time clients and NOT break bank security she could have: Called "Mark" to verify that the card was not stolen. As a 20 yr. Commerce/TD client, **’s number is on record. Verified who I was. I’ve had personal & business accounts at that branch for over 14 yrs. Or she could have suggested that we call the Customer Service number. ** did nothing. She never even asked my name. "Mark" had a severe disabling stroke on April 01, 2013.
His first non-medical outing in 20 months, a concert at Lincoln Center, was scheduled to begin in one hour. During intermission he began to get calls. The Pharmacy suddenly could not release/deliver his medications. An online vendor canceled his sisters Holiday gift. His assisted living facility, notified by the pharmacy, made numerous frantic calls. This all caused "Mark" to be unnecessarily agitated and upset.
At about 3:30 PM "Mark" and I arrived at the 1709 Third/95th branch. ** explained that "Mark's" Debit card had been voided. "Mark" became more upset. The agitation caused him to have a bad fall in the bank injuring his head & leg. The manager, ** (**) & ** assured and quickly assisted "Mark" with a new debit card they even called the pharmacy so he could get his meds ASAP. They were helpful and professional: the epitome of TD Banks Core Values and Mission. The fall embarrassed and injured an exhausted, disabled man. ** could have prevented the entire situation with a fast phone call or advice. She chose to do nothing.
The upshot is: 1. I am now an official co-signer on the account as I should have been prior, thanks to **. 2. After long-time personal and business relationships with Commerce/TD I am considering opening the accounts for my new business elsewhere.
Lastly, I apologize. I reacted inappropriately to **’s parrot-talk and lack of interest. I called her a **. And, as your cameras will attest, further over reacted to her shouting at me as I was leaving. I was out of line and impolite. I apologize to the entire TD team. It’s actually impossible for ** to be a **. Dogs are not gratuitously mean, unfriendly or uncooperative. They are social animals that have been documented as showing a kind of compassion for distressed fellow species. That cannot be said of **. She’s a hired hand collecting a check for doing nothing more than the exact letter of a job.
**’s behavior to her client and the spirit of TD Banks Core Values do not align. As for the TD's mission, she behaved in the opposite of good customer service. ** made two long-time customers feel ready for a change of banks. And her bored and indolent attitude cannot possibly enhance your shops atmosphere. As a long-time business owner I've found that having even one employee who poisons the air by working opposite to the values and mission of a business is detrimental to the entire corporate effort. **’s contribution, if any, to TD's continued success might be more beneficial as an employee of a competitive business.

The way I see it, TD Bank is a predatory institution in the guise of a friendly neighboring bank. I have maintained a checking and a savings account with this bank for quite some time. I have never taken a loan or even a credit card from them and have always had a positive balance in my accounts until..... Initially, I used to have my paycheck deposited to TD but then switched over to a bank on my company's premises just because it was more convenient. So I closed down the TD savings account but still maintained a checking account with them mainly because I sometimes visit family in Canada and thought that having an account with a Canadian bank would make it easier to withdraw and exchange currency when I am there. However, one Saturday evening, I make a withdrawal from a TD ATM machine using my TD debit card which brings my checking account below 100. Unknown to me and without any warning, they hit me with a fine of $15 and repeatedly keep doing so every 10 days. Their repeated fines push the account into the red zone and then they hit me with an insane overdraft fee!! So now I owe them $80!!!
Wow... If converted to an interest rate, even the worst credit cards have a lower interest rate than that and that for loans, that they actually give out to you, and I didn't take a single dime or loan from TD but actually gave them my business!!! I understand that most banks have a predatory instinct but some banks are worse than others, so I am done with TD which, in my opinion, is the worst bank that I have dealt with! They certainly do get you in through the front door with smiling faces, free pens, biscuits for your pet dog, etc., etc., but it's through the fine print that these smiling Shylocks really get you where they want you to be. If TD really were a trustworthy financial institution, they could very easily modify their ATM user interface to flash a warning, but then that would not be in their best interests would it?
So folks, if you decide to go with TD, read all of the fine print because they are not a friendly neighboring bank that you can trust you money with and be relaxed. With them, you will always have to be vigilant, that is, if you want to protect your hard worked for earnings!

Since November 21 our bank acct was hacked by fraud charges up to almost 250.00. We live paycheck to paycheck and budget our money. Because these charges overdrafted our acct, the bank then charged bank fees. Since November 24 the bank has charged us $595.00 in bank fees. Again it started with the fraud charges but then there was approximately 2500.00 deposited on the 25th into our acct and they charged a fee. My concern was that I had checks written out on the money that was taken away between fraud charges and bank charges and before my next paycheck got in the bank (which is weekly of 1043.10 and then bi-weekly at least 2500). My checks came in - got us negative and the bank charged us fees again. They aren't cooperating with us and working with us. If it wasn't for all these fees we would be fine.
It is completely inhuman of what they are doing - I could see if we were low-lifes and let our account overdraw every week but we don't and if does it is because of these scenarios. We deposit into this bank a min of 8500.00 a month and they will not help us out with these fees! It is absurd! It is like they are double charging... Fine you want to charge? Charge one fee of 35.00 - not 35.00 for every transaction paid and then an additional 35.00 for every time overdraft... Again we are overdraft because of fraud charges and their bank fees! We want help and assistance. It isn't fair for something we didn't do intentionally and we shouldn't be punished!!! And yes once the review comes back and it confirms fraud they will credit it but that can take up to 45 days and no one can live like that being that short!!!

For some reason it was still my responsibility to contact them to change the loan to Conventional Loan where principal and interest is included.
This only came up because I contacted them in September 2014 to add escrow to my account. After many emails, follow ups on my end only, I was finally advised that it was never converted. I requested that a supervisor contact me (never happened) and that my account be retroactively converted. This was done by TD Bank and I was given a new dollar amount to be paid, which was done. As a side note, all of my payments prior were made monthly and on time and TD was going to transfer the funds over to the new Conventional Loan.
I then got a letter from TD that my account was delinquent and that they referred it to the Credit Bureau. I was beyond furious. Emailed everyone who I ever dealt with at TD Bank requesting that a supervisor call me (letter came in over the weekend). Again no call. The next day was a bank holiday, so no call from a supervisor at TD but the Collection Agency calls started. Again another email since TD is closed. I finally get an email stating everything is resolved, still no call back from a supervisor. With regards to my credit score, I have a letter stating that they made an error but they even admitted it could take up to 60 days to clear up my credit rating. We have a mortgage through TD Bank. We bought our house 18 months ago. We never paid late, but every month they are marking us late. They moved our escrow around several times because their representatives couldn't figure out what to do with our escrow money - they would send us the check for the whole amount, and then bill us back for it. Then because the escrow would be withdrawn by them, they would send us threatening letters about not having enough money in our escrow. The back and forth has become unbearable. This month they reported us to the credit bureaus for non payment - but when we called to complain (because we have never been late), they said "It show in the computer that it's up to date, I don't know why it was placed with our collections department and why it was reported."
Supervisors never call back 24-48 hours as they promise, more like 72 hours plus. Supervisors make empty promises that it won't happen again, but my husband and I now set time aside monthly for these calls because we know it's coming. This is beyond ridiculous. A few days later I went to a TD bank branch to obtain my new debit cards. The rep refused to give my new cards as I couldn't prove who I was. I told him my SSN, the last transaction, my phone number and address. I also showed him my TD Bank checkbook. I later on called TD bank to have them send me the replacement debit cards.
None of the TD bank employees informed me that my card had been used the night that it was stolen, even after I told them the last transaction on the account. After going to take money out of the branch on Oct. 26th, I found the fraudulent transactions. The bank rep put in a claim for the money, but I had to question if I had stated my last transaction as part of their security process, why didn't TD bank question these additional transactions??? The branch employee advised me to call the customer service line and file a complaint.
How many times have I called the bank to be put through the wringer to prove my identity, only to now have TD bank neglect to inform me of these charges. How is it that Chase Bank sent me a text message at 5 AM to advise me of a possible fraudulent charge, while TD Bank allowed charges to my account. We believed the break in happened late in the evening and the thief, who we suspect is an ex-friend of my son, used one of his credit cards and his debit card at 5:40 am the following morning. It was good friend of my son, who ran into financially trouble and was leaving the country in a week. He is a computer wiz and knowing my son very well, had the ability to ascertain his PIN. He withdrew $600 in two transactions from my son's account. We reported the theft to the local police and requested films from the surveillance camera from Amboy Bank (where the card was actually used).
The officer agreed that my son's friend was a suspect and seeing the films was important. After about a week we were informed the camera was broken. Really?! And there was absolutely no film! We called the bank president and tried to no avail. This is a disgrace, a bank that does not monitor their security. We were then informed by TD that since the bank was local where the card was used, they felt my son was trying to extort money from the bank and he staged the whole thing. So essentially they were making accusations without any basis just to reject the claim and avoid making good on their promise of money refund (-$50) that they claim in all their documents. When we told them we had a police report proving that it was a theft they agreed to reconsider.
Then after another two weeks, they rejected it again, saying they need to have the thief found and arrested or they will not make good on their claims. How ridiculous! The manager at our local Old Bridge Branch admitted to my son that their claims are false and they use the arrest thing or anything else to not make good on their claim. Rarely are credit card thieves uncovered and charged. SO BASICALLY, IF YOU HAVE YOUR TD BANK CARD STOLEN, YOU ARE LIABLE FOR ALL THE CHARGES. THEY ARE LIARS AND THEY WON'T MAKE GOOD ON ANY OF THEIR CLAIMS. THIS BANK IS A COMPLETE DISGRACE AND SHOULD BE CLOSED. NO ONE SHOULD EVER BANK WITH THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE THIEVES! We have been customers for 20+ years and plan on closing all accounts and never will do business with these thieves again and plan on telling everyone I know what thieves and liars they are.

I haven't really checked on my saving bank account by online every transaction. That's why we called "Saving bank account." I found out today that I have been charged for maintenance fee $4 on August. Then, spoke with someone on the customer service telephone about the fees. Therefore, I finally had the time to check all the statements these past 3 years and found out TD bank has been charged me the fee for 14 months = $4*14 = $56. The lady transferred me to speak with the manager. She mentioned it was all my problem and trying to speak all the crap. I am so mad because I feel someone is a scammer on my bank account and that is from the bank. I have had a checking bank account with them as the same time I opened this saving bank account. Today after I opened the bank account for 3 years, they told me the reason why, I have been charged it for over the year because my bank account balance has been under $250.
I explained to them, "that is because I have read all the note under my saving statement about minimum $100 for avoid the maintenance fee as well as the manager at the branch explained to me that having two bank account won't make my life difficult and the minimum balance is only $100 when I opened the bank account 3 years ago." Believe it or not, the manager on the phone told me that minimum $100 for checking and why they have that minimum balance $100 under the saving statement. It is all the confusion. Please be aware with all the scam that we are a good consumer have to pay them without our knowledge. Can you believe who will pay the fee $4 for 14 months? If I don't find out today, they will still charge me.
I used to put a good amount of money in saving bank account before. I have heard about the good thing of the federal bank so I moved my money there for my future. Will you still keep this saving bank account opening if they require $250 instead $100. Why do I need to save this bank account and paying $4 every month? It is impossible. TD bank has been a good bank for my checking bank account because I used it for my international transaction traveling. I have felt that TD bank is looking for taking advantage for the slow transaction bank account. No one will realize that their money have taken $4 because who will remember every cents in the bank. Usually, we know how much approximately do we have in the bank. I would be glad to give the homeless people for $56 than paying the wealthy bank for my saving bank account with not much money for paying the fee. For what!!!!

My office is right NEXT DOOR to the bank. 3 days later, a rep called me to tell me that they will be closing the account because they can't verify my business address. I asked what specifically are they asking for. They told me they need to see a physical address with a "computer" on the business premises. I explained to them that I drive a lot and that there is no need for me to have a computer at my office. I just used a laptop. Apparently they couldn't understand this. I switched to Bank of America the same day.

We opened an account at TD bank for our son who would be in a military college. He has no time to go to a bank during the week and TD Bank advertised how convenient their branches were. From the first month, we started getting overdraft fees. We could not get anyone to answer our questions and they charge monthly fees even if you try to close the account. They stack the withdrawals in a descending order to make sure you are overdrawn.
My son ended up paying almost 800 dollars in fees and overdraft for about 100 dollars in total of shortages. We still can't close the account because he is on a ship. When you call customer service, they threaten to ruin your credit rating. I made the mistake of not having myself or husband on his account so now they just pull the privacy laws. It's so infuriating! It's not just me, I have seen that there are class action law suits against them. Please choose a bank you have a relationship with. This bank has extortion down and they are getting away with it.

I really have had a positive experience at TD for over fifteen years. Lately I have been a little careless but won't be once I relocate far away from Chester. The overdraft fees and the minimum $100 balance have me thinking that I should transfer to another bank but I don't want to start all over again just when in a couple of years I'll retire and buy a house. So, I'll try my best to balance my checkbook and not give TD so much money in ATM fees. So if I get denied a debt consolidation loan, I'll know that this review is just a lack of appreciation of a good consumer and customer who doesn't really want another bank but TD.

I have account with Td Bank over 3 years now. All the time they charge me maintenance fee which is I don't know why, so last year I went to one of their branch to get information about maintenance fee, but they didn't give me enough information about that. Again couple months ago I went different branch. I ask them again, they said if your account is below 100$, they charge 15$. Finally I got answer, but it was too late. Just today they charge me overdraft fee 4 times, "35$ each one" - because I thought I have enough money in the account then I visited a branch, and I got transaction summary. I saw couple days ago one of the store charge me twice, that's why my account went to minus. I explain the situation to customer representative, and she told me I have to contact with customer service over the phone, so I talked 4 different representative. One of them was really drunk I can say, even he couldn't give me information about last 5 transactions, so they told me I have to contact with the store. They have to send td bank fax for dispute to their second transaction, and customer representative told me after they send fax over to them they were going to dispute overdraft fees also, but they didn't. I don't recommend this bank to anyone - in the past I had these kind of problems with them.

I accused the service rep of this dishonest practice and he actually admitted to it. I was appalled and disgusted. TD BankNorth bought a loan that we had with Hudson Bank. They immediately started adding on "late fees AND interest" on the late fees. We called and requested a record of when we paid and what we may have missed. They told us that they only had the information since they took over the loan. We pushed them and said that how could they charge us late fees, if they didn't know when we were late? Response was that burden of proof was on us, not them. What happened to the customer is right? There has been this back and forth, back and forth for quite some time. In 2012, they sent a repo company to take possession of our vehicle. We again called and requested on what basis they were saying we were late. After bullying from the repo company and TD Banknorth, we paid what they said we owed. Again, within 6 months they started again with late fees and interest. We hadn't missed a payment and they couldn't explain why or give us any proof that we owed it.
Yesterday, at 11 pm, with a no trespassing sign posted, a tow truck (doing about 90 mph) down our gravel driveway, T.R.A.C.S. (can't find any info. on them on the internet. Are they a real company?) The guy driving approached my husband and said he was here to pick up the vehicle. We had not received any letter, phone call, notice, etc. We asked if we could have 24 hours to contact the bank and clear things up (of course, you can't talk to them after hours). He said no and that we needed to turn over the keys to him. We refused and continued to request 24 hours. Well, after 10 minutes of him trying to scare us, he said, well by law I have to give you that. He gave us this sheet of paper that he had already filled out, and on it the paper shows that we are in violation of Chapter 9 of title 16 of the official code of Georgia. Relating to fraud and other related offenses such as destruction, concealment, encumberance, or transfer of property subject to security interest, that we have committed a crime and may go to jail. WHAT??
We have never been in jail or committed a crime. Is this some sort of scare tactic? So, when we called today about what we owe, it went from $1600.00 to over $4000.00. When we tried to understand the charges, we were told we either pay it or the repo guy would be back tonight with a court order and the police to take it from us. We are so frustrated and don't know which way to turn. We asked the customer service person, so if we pay this are they still going to repo it? She said, of course not. Well, I'm not at all comfortable with this entire situation. I think it's all a SCAM and TD Banknorth should be held accountable for all of this!

I should have seen the writing on the wall then. I saw Mr Orlando ** the supervisor and spoke to him about a loan for a condo. The condo wanted a conventional loan and I had to give my real estate agent money for escrow. I had told mr ** I had a bankruptcy which was discharged in Jan of 2011 3 1/2 before and he led me to believe this would not be a problem. Later I found out that you needed to be discharged 4 years or more to get this type of loan. If he would have know this, he should have told me because the people I was buying the condo from wanted to close right away, not wait 6 months until I was able to get this type of loan.
He gave us a closing date of july 14th and led me to believe I was getting this loan, so I gave the $100 to my real estate agent and had the place inspected, which cost me $125. Also when I later got turned down for the loan, I tried to call mr ** over and over for 3 days with no return call. I tried ms ** with the same results. Every time I have a reason to call TD Bank, the service is so completely horrible. I get off the phone wondering if they remove the logical thinking centers of the brain of each agent. TD Bank is not my "primary" account. I keep "play" money in it and use it as a way for one of my friends who I loaned money to to deposit. Recently, I tried to link my credit union to TD bank so that I can put money into it. I had recently had some fees charged, and was trying to avoid it going forward. My bank sent me 70 cents in 2 transactions to verify the account. Then, they reversed the charges. Unfortunately, my friend had just "bounced" a check to me, which was a fee I accepted. But TD Bank also charged me 35$ on the .70 reversal.
I called then VERY upset, of course. But really thinking that any rational HUMAN would see that the charges through the description and nature (it said "account verification deposit" and "reversal" on the item detail from my bank) should be reversed. Not only was the agent rude, but she also ARGUED with me as to why this was completely my fault, and she would send me TD Banks "Rules and Regulations" in a email so I can review them further.... I am closing my account within the week. I'm not a millionaire and they probably don't care, but it's just said that an industry that operates off of investing other people's money can not see the value in client experience.

I began receiving worker's compensation checks from a major bank when I opened an account with TD Bank. If that isn't frustrating enough I didn't receive a check for a month before the Christmas holidays. Upon receiving a check the Saturday before Christmas I was elated! What slipped my mind was the process of accessing the full check once deposited. Having insufficient funds attempting to buy Christmas gifts, I called customer service and the woman was very understanding but said she could not see the picture of the check I deposited in order to compare the several previous checks I deposited throughout my time with TD Bank and so could do nothing for me except advise to go personally to the bank nearest me.
I went to TD Bank the following day, Sunday, and the head teller did not even look at my account to offer me the first $100 I can access from my check. In tears, literally no gas in my car I called the customer service department again. They were very sorry and said my funds would be available Tuesday which was Christmas Eve. I waited until Tuesday and planned to close my account. Obviously upset I told the clerk I want nothing to do with this bank, I had had three pending fees on my account which one was gas. Irate I said to just get a calculator and subtract it because I want nothing to do with this bank.
The same head teller came over, having already dealt with her lack of assistance I asked to speak to her supervisor, she said I am it, I said no whoever is above you. She told me to calm down or she would call the police. Only being disgusted with the bank, not threatening or even using profanity since I had my 4-year-old son with me, I told her go ahead call the police. What I did not expect was for her to outright lie to the dispatcher saying she had an outraged customer, yelling at everybody and banging on the counters but when the police arrived she lied again telling them I had been there for the past few days yelling at them.
Humiliated, fighting back tears as the two police officers stayed, canceling backup, etc. I only received $1,500 from my check of $5,300. The police knew I was of no threat because they didn't take any statements and actually left the premises before I did. Again I returned home shattered and again in tears calling the 1800 number, they were able to connect me with the Regional Bank Manager who called me back saying I was being 'difficult' however if I can reach him the head teller surely would have been able to reach that branch manager or the same Regional Bank Manager I spoke with instead of falsifying my behavior to the police.
The Regional Bank Manager said he would call me Thursday after Christmas Day and that I could go to the second nearest branch to close out my account and collect the remainder of my balance of $3,700 which showed up in the system regardless of the pending transactions. Wednesday I planned to drive down to Florida because my father needed surgery. I left a message stating I would be traveling to Florida. Having arrived Sunday, I went to the nearest TD Branch in Florida expecting to withdraw the remainder of my check. Only I found out that the remainder was mailed to me Friday the 27th. I had to immediately do a forwarding address so that the check could arrive at my parents' house. It is now January 13th, I have absolutely no money, no call from the Regional Bank Manager and I have missed an interview for a job that was to be tomorrow but I cannot travel because $3,700 is floating around in the mail. Open your eyes. TD Bank is sending too much information to your personal email account, like your full name, the nickname of your checking account and the last 4 numbers of your checking account. These email alerts, for online paperless monthly banking statement, is a very dangerous idea. First, I log into TD Bank - Online Banking and select Statements under the Accounts tab. It is not possible to stop the alerts going to your personal email account, unless you switch back to monthly paper bank statement. Called TD Bank customer service and spoke to 2 customer representatives and 1 supervisor when I got the email alert for online monthly banking statement.
TD Bank customer service were very unhelpful, they kept suggesting to me that the information is not sensitive and if I was not happy about it to switch back to monthly paper bank statement. I pointed it out to them, that TD Bank supplies each customer with an email inside their TD Bank Online Account, to send these emails with sensitive information there. All 2 customer representatives and supervisor said "no can do". If I go back to monthly paper statement bank statement, this is what happens, first it is not safe, second causes extra garbage and not environmentally good, third they want to charge $1.00 for each Monthly Paper Bank Statement, etc.

Thinking about opening an account with TD Bank? Think again. Wrote their corporate office and was ignored. Tried online to resolve problems and was referred to customer service and was cut off twice. (Assume for technical glitches as we never got into discussion of the complaint.) Finally went to branch to speak to manager who was insulting, aggressive and not helpful. On deposits of $700, they charged $175 in OD fees because they held a deposit days past the time it had cleared the issuing bank. What possible excuse can there be for holding a deposit which has cleared?
This allows them to charge unjustified fees. I am filing a complaint with the Banking Division of the Massachusetts Consumer Affairs Department and also writing the U.S. House of Representatives Finance and Banking Committee. I have closed the account which was only open for 2 months. Their practices are in sharp contrast to my bank in Mississippi, Southbank, which treats every customer with respect and courtesy and looks for ways to be helpful.

Home equity loan ballooned from $450 to $2,100 a month. Letters to Chairman Services have NEVER been answered. No one returns calls. TD bank should be reported to an investigative authority. They are the worst.

This bank is so robbing people. They hold your POS for a week in order to take $35 fee from you. They also have the worst customer service reps in the world!!! I will be opening an account at SunTrust here in FL. TD BANK is organized crime at its best!!!! They don't stick guns in your face, they rob you with the overdraft fees. This is why cash is still the best way to go. As if the corporate bank fat cats do not have enough money, they need to rob the average working person in this country!!!!

I am not currently with TD Bank but I was about a month ago. I lost my job to them after being with them 2 years. I don't know if you have left them yet or if you still have them. If you still have them, this information may help you. What it sounds like to me, just because I saw it happen all the time is that you may have a feature called "TD Debit Card Advance" on your account. If you are enrolled, you want to do is make sure this is changed to "Not Enrolled". Reason being is because that feature IS NOT OD protection. It's an OD COVERAGE.
It actually makes OD happen because it will allow transactions to continuously go through when funds are not available (this includes if a check deposit is waiting to clear and not cleared yet) so by having it on there, you are held liable for that reason, because it accepts OD and you are essentially agreeing to it. Granted it is extremely likely you were unaware because I find many people did not know it was on there or were completely miseducated on it.
Since the system re-orders the posting of the transactions from large to small instead of the actual order you bought or paid for your items, this is how it can create massive amounts of OD. By having it off there you're better off for two reasons. One, what you have is what you have. If anything tries to exceed what you have on your card, it simply declines like it never happened without any fee. The only thing that could EVER cause you any fees is if it's in relation to an ACH-based transaction (anything through the acct no. and routing no. directly - example, credit card payment, insurance, written checks and Bill Pay fall into this too). Two, if you have items that post late on your debit card, I.E. - gas, restaurant, yes, you will still be overdrawn but without any fee because at the time you ORIGINALLY ran it through, however many days ago, you still had funds available.
When you remove that feature you get confirmation in the mail. It takes effect the following business day, from whence you make the change. Hope that helps.

I got bank draft from TD Bank that I already mailed to Ministry of Finance. Later for faster processing I paid Ministry of Finance online, and went to bank with bank draft receipt. Lady suppose to be manager or some authority told me that she will charge me ten dollars for canceling it or I have to get back draft from ministry and bring it, then they will not charge me ten dollar. Know my concern is not to save ten dollars. But look at this, 1- ministry has to send me draft back 2- to save me ten dollars.
Why shall I not ask ministry to not cash it though they will not cash it because they already got payment from me online. Once they do not cash draft money is not going out of my account and I do not need to do anything. What can be more stupid than this situation. I really did not get it. Another day went to same bank for some transaction that I suspected I have not made it. This same TD Bank gave me three days to find it. They did not say to change pin, did not say that they will block my account so that nobody can access for further transactions.
Now let us come to my point of view. I believe that common person has no right in this world and is living miserable life. These mafias they make rules and they decide how other people are going to live life. Not only banks but there are different mafias like employers etc. They all are now a days God and does not matter what common person do. He cannot live life that God has given to him but will only live life decided by these different kind mafias. Sad days for humanity.

First off, everybody is aware, the fees banks charge are outrageous and it should be illegal. I had a "simple" checking account with TD Bank that, when I opened it, promised: no minimum balance and no monthly service charge if I wrote no more than 3 checks per year, and chose online statements. I may have written one check on that account. And that would have been a temporary check because I never ordered or received any regular checks for that account. I either used a debit card or paid bills and shopped online so there was no need to write checks from that account. After about a year, all of a sudden, the rules changed and there's a $5.99 monthly fee if there isn't a $100.00 minimum balance.
There was always a balance in that account because I opened solely because I received a retirement plan payout and needed a place to put it and pay bills and debts, etc. (mostly debts because both my wife and I are unemployed). When that money was gone, I closed the account. We have another checking account for everyday use. And I use online statements. Which are consistently inconsistent. For instance, last Friday my wife went to her sister's for the weekend. I knew there was about $250.00 in the account but a purchase was denied and the online statement was only showing a few dollars were available. So I collected a couple of things that I had purchased earlier in the week (like the scroll saw I got at HD) and the receipts and returned these (used, repackaged items) so I could put some money in the bank for my wife to use if she needed it. Looking at my statement later, I see that there was $241 in the account like I thought.
I heard about banks re-ordering transactions in order to cause overdrafts to generate fees, but until this weekend, I had not seen it in my account, or just didn't notice it because it hadn't caused a problem. And so far, it hasn't caused a problem but I see it coming like the train light in the tunnel. This weekend, I had about a dozen transactions that were all posted Tuesday morning. And, sure enough, the first transaction listed was the highest at about $75; the next, the second highest and so on right down to the last, being the smallest at $2.50. And that was the NON-TD ATM FEE just after the $2.50 BALANCE INQUIRY FEE. Balance inquiry fee?? For real?
A CSR told me there is an actual cost related to this fee. As if a human had to check the balance and write it down for you (the actual cost is a minute pulse of electricity, a couple of computer program requests and maybe a printout on a 5" long x 3" wide strip of paper. How much could that be? 1/500th of a cent?). If the inquiry occurs at a non-TD ATM, that ATM owner charges TD, and TD passes the charge on to the customer. One CSR told me it would be charged even if the inquiry took place at a TD ATM, another told me that is not the case. So now we have the issue of improper or inconsistent training which, we all know what kind of problems that can bring.
