Near the first of this year, our financial life took a plunge for the worse, and we called everyone and anyone to find some help. Chase had a loan modification plan that could maybe help us on our mortgage. With high hopes this would be our savior in keeping our little home, Chase did more damage than good. Jonita **, who was to help us out on this plan, was not a communicator at all, and never, ever answered her phone or returned voice mails when the box was not full and a message could be left. We never received a call to let us know if we even qualified.
Then one day out of nowhere, we received a FedEx envelope somewhere between April 6th and April 17th telling us we have been approved and this is where to send the payment, how much and all the rules, due on April 1st, We received this package late and you wanted the payment by April 1st. This was impossible. With advanced notice and communication on Chase's part, this could have been avoided. At that time, we had no earthly idea where we were going to come up with two house payments, let alone the one already late, and from there we tumbled again, only with a push this time. Work is still cut back from 6 days a week to only 4 days, sometimes only 3. I am still only working part-time, and we are both actively looking for full time work with benefits, which we don't have either.
At this time, my mom has offered to help, but we do not have the total amount past due, and I was strictly told by Chase they would not accept partial payments. The only way I will ever get caught up is to send what I can when I can, and take any help offered to me.
I need to be able to send payments via online for immediate withdrawn payment. I would also like to just speak to one individual Chase counselor/loan officer that speaks and understands English, and is willing to help and guide me. The people I have been connected with have been so difficult in all aspects. I have contacted Consumer Credit Canceling Service and have begun speaking with a counselor to reconfigure how to pay my bills, with such little income. I am also looking into NACA's Home Save Program, and may even have to file bankruptcy.
Back in March, I spoke with an HUD counselor in Athens, GA. I was told to sell my refrigerator and my vehicle. I needed a refrigerator immediately after having an infant son. Therefore without funds to even buy a used one, we had to rent to own one which I am now sending back because we have found an alternative. If I sell my vehicle, I cannot get to work, end of discussion.
I firmly believe Chase is partially responsible for me being behind. If I would have received that loan modification package in early March or got some kind of verbal confirmation, we could have at least figured in the payment or retrieved help sooner. Also, I would like to ask, what may be the options for making a weekly payment? $135.50, that would help us so much. It would be easier than a lump sum at this time. Or, bi-weekly payments, $271, difficult, but manageable. Our loan balance is $72,000(?). Our little 1980s mobile home is probably worth $35,000 and needs about $10,000 to $15,000 in repairs/upgrades, and we are behind $1688(?), 3 months.
We are open to all and any help; we just need help and compromise until we can get back on our feet. It is not that we don't want to pay our bills or that we are not trying to find a solution on our own. We are doing all we can. We just don't have the income anymore, and we don't want to lose our first home. It may not look like a big beautiful mansion, but it is to us. We wait patiently for your response promptly for any solutions. Thank you.

On 5/22/09, I began a refinance with Chase and was told, in writing, that the process would take close to 60 days. It's now 86 days. I used to get emails from my (now 4) processors, but that has stopped. I want to cancel, but do not want to lose my $750. Can anyone hear us? Doing a refinance would have allowed me to combine two home loans, so I would not have to go further in cc debt. My credit status is now very poor.

I began a refinance on a $28,000 current mortgage we had with Chase on 5-13-09. We were attempting to increase the loan for $25,000. The appraisal fee was $750, which Chase charged our credit card company (to date, that is all we have paid them). Mr. Darren ** said it would take 45-60 days to process and we locked in our interest rate at that time. It is now 8-14-09 and we still have not closed. The bank has verbally extended our lock-in date for 30 days (beginning 8-4) since they could not process on time. They said the underwriting department is way behind and still processing loan apps from 3-09.
My question is, why do they still accept loan apps if they cannot in good faith process them in a timely fashion? They have taken my $750 and how many other people have they taken their loan app fees with no ability to process the loans? I am very upset with how I have been treated by Chase and don't seem to be able to do much about it. The ball is in their court and I either walk away or continue to be mistreated by them. Either way, they have my $750. The banks should not be permitted to hold onto these fees if they cannot process within the stated time.
Their total settlement charges amount to over $3,400 for a total loan of $56,500. Doesn't that seem a little extreme? I have checked around at local banks and they stated their total settlement charges would be $1,500-1,900 at most. Chase is taking advantage of me and how many other people at a time when they should be thanking the taxpayers for their bloated bonuses. I want the $750 fee refunded and be able to reconsider if I want to try again someplace else. This country is in real trouble and the banks are to blame.

Last year, I received a foreclosure notice from Chase. My payment comes directly out of my account and never assumed there could be an issue. After contacting them, they said there had been an increase in escrow. They never notified me of this and let it build. Given the amount of increase, the math did not add up, and they were asking for a large amount of money. In that, I was close to foreclosure; I paid them $3,300 even though I never knew what it was for.
In June of 2009, I received an escrow notice that projected that this year's escrow costs would be less. Now, I have received another threat of foreclosure with little time to resolve the problem. After two hours on the phone, I find there was another increase of $305.17 a month. They say I was current up until the first of the year, and now have accumulated the amount of that increase. This would mean I would be $2,136.19 short.
Unfortunately, without explanation, they are requiring a payment of $6,583.07! If my escrow charges are less than last year, I cannot even begin to understand a more than $3,600 increase, but the amount of $6,583.07 is insane. This means I will have paid almost $10,000 in unexplained increases since last year! My only other option is lose my home. When I did a search of complaints about Chase, I found this site with many similar stories. Is there anything that can be done to get this company under control?

First, we tried to refinance using Countrywide Mortgage back in December 2008. We paid for an appraisal on December 31st. Then, Countrywide decided they needed a subordination agreement from Chase Home Finance (who we have a first mortgage and HE line of credit with). We were told that it would be a 2 week turnaround for the agreement and we had to pay $250’s for it upfront.
When agreement was not received in that time, both Countrywide and I called Chase's subordination department and was told they couldn't find the original request and so another one was faxed again to them, this now being the middle of February. This time we were told by Chase that it was now a 6 to 8 week wait for that agreement to let Countrywide Mortgage assume first lien and keep the HE Line of Credit as second lien. We have since been told by the title company that this was not really needed. Countrywide had already extended our loan rate several times, and now was charging us more points due to the wait.
I called Chase Home Finance office in Tyler, Texas, and talked to Sr. Loan Officer **. I explained our situation. She told me she could get us a better rate but that we would have to pay $750 upfront, and that we would be refunded $350's of it at settlement. We withdrew our application with Countrywide on April 1st, and went with Chase, believing that since we already had our mortgage with them, and had just recently done a HE Line of Credit, that they would be able to complete our refinancing in a reasonable length of time.
Since we were going out of state in middle of May and be gone for 2 months, I was told by Ms. ** that we would probably be able to settle by middle of May, before we left. By middle of May we were told by Ms. ** that we wouldn't be going to settlement until probably middle of June, as Chase was back logged with refinances and short on underwriters (as in being stressed out and quitting, and also the lack on Chase's part to hire enough people to do the job). We returned on July 19th and after trying to get in touch with Ms. ** several times, she finally called me back to explain that now Chase Underwriters wanted to freeze our HE before they would proceed further and that it would be only a few more days before we could have settlement.
This was the last straw for us. We have paid out of our pockets $1,480 already, 7 months have passed and we still have not been able to go to settlement. We told Ms. ** on July 29th that we no longer wanted to go through them, as it has been a costly and lengthy unreasonable time to complete this transaction. Our complaint is that we would not have had to put out so much money, nor missed out on some really great interest rates if it weren't due to Chase Home Finance taking over 7 months of handling this refinance, and still after 7 months was not ready to go to settlement. I feel that we should be reimbursed for the fees that we paid. We cannot go to another institution or mortgage company without further expenses (another appraisal and etc. fees). Seven months is totally unacceptable for any company or customer to wait.
We are out $1,480 and have nothing to show for that money. And we still are not able to take advantage of the much lower interest rates due to Chase's apparently lack of personnel to complete what needs to be done within a reasonable time period. And with them still short of help, we would face the same problem if we tried to go with another mortgage company.

I purchased a home for $420K with $50K cash down payment. The value has dropped to $170K. My wife has stage 4 cancer. We had to move to Marin County to be close to family. I tried to short sell my old home. Countrywide (now bought by another bank) agreed to the short sale. Chase Mortgage, the second mortgage, behaved in a very evil fashion. They get nothing if I foreclose because my loan was purchase money. They said if they did not get $20K of the $57K loan, they would let the house foreclose and tried to scare me. Is anyone aware that banks who were bailed out could care less about letting homes foreclose? Why should I get punished further? I lost $50K on a house that was priced based on rampant bank fraud. Now, my credit is ruined. I had an 800 score! Why must I not only lose all my money and also ruin my credit for things which were not my fault?! Shame on evil greedy banks. They must be exposed.

I had a mortgage with WaMu and I had refinanced that in the past with no problems. After Chase bought WaMu, the interest rates dropped to the point where it became worth considering refinancing again. I called Chase and I described my easy experience with a WaMu refinance and was told that it would be almost as quick and easy and I just needed to pay a $750 fee. The process was neither quick nor easy. Every step was dragged out for weeks. I would get a phone call from the Chase rep asking me to call her back urgently. I would try to call for a week before I finally got her on the phone. She would request additional documents and I would find those documents. Then, she would tell me they didn't need those documents and they needed different documents and I found those documents. I sent those documents in and she sent them to underwriting. It took two weeks for them to get back to me and then repeat this whole process of asking for additional documents.
In the end they turned me down because my HOA has insufficient fidelity insurance. This is an issue I could have worked with the HOA to resolve, but by the time I was given a decision the rate lock had almost expired and it was too late to do anything. When I started the application I was told by someone, “Chase is not giving anyone any money. They will drag it out until your rate lock expires if they can't find an excuse to turn you down.” This is pretty much exactly what happened. When I talked to the HOA insurance agent after the denial, he told me that Chase was using this as an excuse to deny a lot of people, which leads me to believe it is something that could have been ascertained at the start of the process and could have saved me months of time and frustration.
I lost the $750 deposit fee. I was reluctant to even pay a fee to apply, but the rep told me that the process would be so quick and easy and I would recoup the fee in reduced payments very quickly. So, I went ahead and did it. More importantly I spent three months being constantly stressed about this. I spent countless hours on the phone looking for documents and trying to reach people. And after wasting three months of my life trying to deal with Chase Mortgage, the rates are high enough now that it no longer makes sense for me to consider refinancing.

My mortgage was sold to Chase about one year and a half ago. Since then it has been nothing but headaches. I am a single mother with children. I have a fairly good job, pay all my bills on time but Chase Home Mortgage (rapers) is trying to ruin me and my good credit by increasing my monthly mortgage from $800 to $1,342. They have increased my escrow and charged an additional payment for Shortage Spread. No call, no alert, nothing. I just signed up today for online service. I cannot afford to pay this amount. I am on direct pay and they came in and snatched all that money out of my account. What if the money was not there, then they would have been setting me up to lose my home? I don't know what to do next, but continue to call them or reach out to agents that might be able to help me. Hopefully someone reading this could help.

As of 8-7-09, Stacy has helped me the most by putting a temporary stop on the illegal foreclosure that has been started. She tells me Chase still has not accounted for my payment in January, June and July. I'm convinced Chase is embezzling funds and for sure, mortgage fraud, to more than just me. It has been 16 months ago that Chase paid twice the amount of prop. taxes which shorted my escrow account and they have never fixed their mistake. They continue to take funds from something called "corporate advance" without my approval.
Portions are unaccounted as to where the money went. How can I collect the interest Chase has earned off every payment from October 2008 through August 2009 that sat in a "suspense account"? I have been told at least 50 or 60 times by Chase office that they promise to fix their errors. Well, I have been waiting over a year and they are dead set on foreclosure so they don't have to fix their mistakes. They have destroyed my credit and still continue to charge me $1,606.72 and thousands of dollars in miscellaneous fees, when in fact, my monthly statement says I owe $1,461.83. That's an overpayment of $144.99 for 11 months. If there is an attorney out there that reads this and willing to help me, please call or email me. Thanks.

I have had an 8.5% WaMu Mortgage for several years for $200k on a million dollar estate. I wanted a lower rate in March '09 to help lower our payment in these tough economic times. I called Well Fargo and was approved at 5.6%. Then, I called current loan holder, WaMu, and was referred to Roger ** of Chase Mortgage. I submitted all docs, was approved at 4.6%. Roger called and said, "You're approved." I need $750 for an inspection and closing fees, locked in at 4.6%. Fine, I gave him a credit card and was charged the $750.
It's now August! I emailed Roger. Why hasn't this loan taken effect? I've been asking for months. We're still paying $1555 a month on the WaMu loan and all interest that we will never see unless we are credited the difference from the new loan - $1026. Roger emailed back, "We're missing schedule B from your 2007 tax return. Resend everything." We did. Now, he says there is not enough equity in the home?
What? We had the house appraised by a Realtor yesterday. In this bad market, we'd get $650,000.00 on a $1.4M estate. The current loan is only $200k. And we have always paid the WaMu loan on time, in full and continue to do so. I complained. He called and said he'd work on it and let us know by Friday, tomorrow. Work on it? It's been 5 months! And he's told me that before, twice a month for 5 months now. I told him I was going to a lawyer and writing the media. That's when he responded and said he'd tried to work this out.

First, I was contacted by mail by Chase to provide Flood Ins. for my condo on Feb. 6, 2009. I faxed the 1st copy on Feb. 16, 2009. A second copy was faxed on April 21, 2009 and I also mailed a copy. Another copy was sent on June 9, 2009. Chase went ahead and placed insurance on my account even though I had insurance. Another call and fax was placed on 7-13-09. I finally called back on 8-5-09 and talked with a supervisor from the insurance department, Andrena ** and she said that the lender placed insurance has been removed on the insurance's side. She transferred me over to Jenneta on the Chase customer service side and there was no request ever done to clear this insurance issue. So Chase had sent me a revised escrow for new payments in which they charged me the insurance premiums.
I made a payment in July 2006 for $838.00 ($803.64 regular payment + $33.58 late fee). This payment was not credited to my account. It ended up in some escrow account. This made my payments look 2 months late. I called again on August 5, 2009 and I was told that a new escrow with correction will be sent in 5 days, that the problem was corrected. I called again today, 8-6-09, and spoke with Casey, a customer service rep. She said that the $838 for the July payment still had not been moved. She said she would put in a work order to have it moved to the proper account. This has been going on for months. I have never been more than a few days late on my mortgage and this mess up is going to cause me credit issues. I need to know what I can do to fix the problems this company keeps causing.

We have lived in our home 32 years and pay our taxes monthly. Somehow, Chase paid our quarterly taxes in Aug. '08. We continued to make our town tax payments and discovered the problem in Jan. '09. Chase rep told us to pay Chase $445 a month (in addition to mortgage payment) to make up for their tax advance, which we did and have one payment to go. We still continued to make our tax payments to the town and are now paid through Nov. '09. However, we now find that the $445 a month payment was not applied to the advance but instead was put into escrow for future taxes.
The result is overdue escrow, overdue advance and mortgage payment shortage. In essence, our $500 per month mortgage was adjusted to $1500 per month to include escrow for future and payoff of past taxes. All our payments are done electronically and we have never been late on our mortgage! All documentation of mortgage payments, tax payments and tax advance payback were provided to Chase. They are now refusing our electronic payments and will only accept a check and are threatening foreclosure!
We only owe them the remaining balance on the tax advance and that is it! But, Chase has rejected our electronic checks. All mortgage payments have been on time. Our taxes are paid through November, and our $445 per month payment should have merely reduced the amount of the tax advance. There has been no response to our correspondence with documentation. And we cannot sit with a representative to resolve because that can only occur in California. Do we need to incur the cost of an attorney? We are retirement age and don't want to do that. Please advise how we might stop the foreclosure, correct the application of funds and get it off our credit report. Thank you.

We are re-negotiating our mortgage and we were going to have a little breathing room, but now that Chase has gotten greedy and is trying to re-coup its bad investment losses, we are back to square one and then some. God will get them and Congress also for being their lackeys - they both can't get enough cash to stuff in their pockets. I want to sue Congress. It's our right to petition Congress and sue them as stated by the Supreme Court when they said that lobbyist/corporate money is equal to citizen’s right to petition. Therefore, I seek an attorney that will abide by this and represent a group of us in a lawsuit against Congress to make them act to get some relief for the citizens of this country, who are their employers (but not for long come next election).

Chase started putting our mortgage payments into an escrow account without our knowledge, making us 2 months late (by the time we found out). I requested that they move the payments we had been making into the mortgage account and reverse any negative reports to my credit. They agreed and said that that is exactly what they would do. I found out later that they had done nothing and my mortgage was then 3 months late (because all of the payments were being put into this escrow account). My house was then put into foreclosure and I was told I couldn't make any payments while it was in foreclosure, but it was put there because of this mix-up and they would reverse the foreclosure and everything would be fine.
Well, you guessed it, nothing was done on the account and it is still in foreclosure and I am now considered 4 months late on my mortgage payments. They are going to cause me to lose my house and I have done nothing wrong! I have even tried to just pay off the lawyers and they will not return my phone calls! They want my house and that is it. Do not get a mortgage with Chase!

One response I did receive after numerous attempts was I cannot have a streamlined loan due to Morgan Chase being affiliated with Freddie Mac.
Now, I can't reach anyone. I received my credit check with a question of something that looked suspicious money, and they had my address listed in another town with wrong amount of work history and wrong work address. Nevertheless, I called Chase and was advised to send the first payment ASAP, which I did with certified check and mail. Then, I sent the next due payment days later in the same manner to assure on time good faith payment. Now weeks later, I received the certified checks back as delinquent and a separate Chase letter from another state encouraging me to contact Chase ASAP so we can work together to save my home. My wife lost her job in May of 2008 and in November of 2008, we contacted Chase about some type of assistance as it became harder to pay our $1300 mortgage. I spoke to a representative who stated we may be eligible for forbearance and started the process. We received the paperwork late, so I called to let them know it came late and I was told that was fine and just send it in as soon as possible. The forbearance period was to be from December 2008 to February 2009. During this period, we did not receive any communication from Chase at all. Then in February 2009, we called to get further instructions as we were told to do. When we called, we were told that we were past due three months and that they had no record of a forbearance.
So after three months, we then started receiving calls and being told we were never in forbearance. After a couple of calls and several different reps, we asked about a modification and we were told that we weren't eligible for a modification because we just got out of forbearance. Huh? If it weren't so messed up, it would have been funny. After failed attempts to talk to the same person again, we were assigned a case worker, a Ms. Kelly **, who told us again we never were in forbearance and that she would get to us ASAP but there were a lot of others in front of us. We explained to her that we in fact had been in forbearance. She said that she could not help us with that, but we could launch an investigation but if we did that, she would have to cancel our request for assistance.
Needless to say, we opted for the assistance. So she offers another forbearance; she said we were not eligible for a modification. We were told that we could get forbearance and that at the end of the three months if nothing had changed with our finances that there was nothing else they could do for us. So being faced with that, I withdrew the remaining money from my 401k to catch up the three payments from December to February. I didn't want to be faced with having to make six payments at once due to the fact that from her tone, Chase was not interested in helping us. So I made those three payments, and about two weeks later, Ms. ** called me on a Sunday and tells me that my forbearance had been cancelled because I made those payments and that there was nothing else Chase could do for me. I was horrified. I can't believe these people are allowed to do this kind of stuff. My wife is having panic attacks and is now on antidepressants. This is destroying our lives.
Now, Chase is telling us we may be eligible for a try modification, but today FedEx delivered more forbearance paperwork, and get this, the paper stated that it needed to be signed and returned by 7/10/09 and today is 7/29/09. How messed up is that. There has to be someone out there willing to take Chase on. They have taken bailout money and have done nothing to help homeowners. All they want to do is offer forbearance and that's like putting a band aid on a bullet wound. Please someone help. I have gotten a little smarter because I have started recording my conversations with Chase each time I call. I have written my congressman to no avail. It's like nobody cares that Chase is raping my family. If there is any helpful information, I would appreciate it because I am at my wit's end. I fear that we are going to lose our home.

But here is the story: Our home was on the market, and we got a contract back in May 2009 with the contingency that our buyers sell their home as well. They got a contract, and everything seemed to be going along fine. But their buyers are using Chase for their financing. The closing date for their sale (as well as ours) was June 30, 2009. It is now July 28, 2009, and we have no closing in sight.
We have already moved from the home we were selling, and we are paying rent on another home as well as the mortgage on the one we have yet to close on. Not to mention the storage facility we rented to store a great deal of our furniture! Our buyers have their lending in order - their buyers have provided all documents required by Chase and have been approved governmentally for a VA loan. But still, there's no closing date reset!
Our agent, our buyers' agent, their buyers' agent, and the title companies for both parties call Chase everyday at least twice a day to inquire on the progress and are only told "it's still in underwriting." What kind of scam is Chase running? Are they getting these documents together with their toes? What is taking so long? Everyone's documents are in order, but since Chase is the big bad lender with all the money, we all have to wait for them.

They bought my loan in 5-06, and I had perfect credit, no late payments until 1-08. An adjustable ARM loan took over and raised my payments. As of 9-1-08, we had agreed to a modification to lower payment and thought things would be fine. New payment of $1276 was great for us. After a few months of making this payment had passed, Chase told me I'm behind and this mortgage amount did not include the interest or escrow which would have increased the payment to $1,606 monthly, which is only $100 difference than the amount prior to the modification. So, all was a huge waste of time.
One year has passed and they have screwed up my loan and destroyed my credit beyond repair from fees, late charges and they never put my payments towards my loan. They always put it into a suspense fund for as long as 2 weeks and then charge me more late fees etc. I could go on for ever. In 2008, they paid twice the amount of property taxes that they should have paid and blame me for my escrow account not having funds. For the past 6 months, my statement says I owe $1,458.92 but Chase refuses to take a payment less than $1,650. I have gone to the top trying to reach Mr. ** and I got stuck talking to Gloria ** or Jill ** who continue to make promises of fixing this mess but have failed to follow through.
So it's July '09 and Chase is planning on taking our home. The system says I owe 3 payments that I do not owe. I made 13 payments in 2008 and 6 in 2009 so far. What can I do to make them follow through with fixing the problems they made all starting with overpaying my taxes?

I was told that if I sent Chase $7,000 to get caught up on our loan, they would modify it into something more affordable. Well, they got my money and pretty much said, "Too bad, so sad." That was February 2008. Today, 7/27/09, I received a 3-day notice to vacate, but this was not recorded nor did we receive notice of a sale date. I have a case filed with the OCC but I am disabled and can't find an attorney to take on the big boys - I need Erin Brockovich. I am not leaving our home of 20 years as it has been in my husband's family for 40 years. Please send an attorney my way, fast.

In 1990, we got a loan from University National Bank in Palo Alto, CA, which was recorded at the County as a lien against our house. This loan was passed to CoAmerica when they purchased University. However, the loan number was changed. This loan was sold to PNC Mortgage. They changed the number again. PNC Mortgage was purchased by WaMu. The loan number was changed again. In 2002, we paid down the mortgage. At the end of December, we requested pay off instructions which WaMu supplied. We still have a copy. We gave instructions to City National Bank to wire transfer funds for the payoff. We are now arranging a new loan with City National. Old Republic Title Co informs us that no pay off for the University Bank loan has been recorded with the County. City National informs us that no loan is possible until the University National Bank loan pay off is recorded or a statement from WaMu/Chase is provided to the Title Co.
Many visits to the local branch resulted in the information that the only way to get it resolved is to fax the request to a number which they provided. They would not do it. I faxed the request with supporting info with the request on the cover sheet that they acknowledge receipt. They did not acknowledge. They will not give a phone number of a human to talk to. They provided no tracking number. They gave no indication of when the problem will be resolved. They will give no information to the title co. A branch manager, after much pushing, got an internal person to acknowledge that the loan had been paid off. They would not give a written copy of this or affirm it to the title co. Banks should not change numbers on loans when they assume them. There should be a penalty for not recording a loan payoff. WaMu/Chase is not being responsible in handling a problem they caused and is preventing me from getting a new loan.

On May 4th, 2009, I entered into the process of refinancing my home. I was given the terms by the loan officer and was told that the processing time would be 30 (but no more than 45 days). Since then, all the terms of the loan have changed, including the fact that we are now at almost 90 days and the documents are still not ready. I'm repeatedly been told that Chase is very busy right now and that new home loans are being put in front of my refinance, even though this is costing me a huge amount of money in unnecessary interest payments as my intent was to consolidate debt with lower interest rates. Although my loan officer has faithfully stayed in contact with me which I appreciate, I no longer trust anything that I've been told. Chase is unable to tell me when loan documents will be ready, even though they are not waiting on anything and I'm told by my loan officer that underwriting has everything they need. In my opinion, Chase Bank is a band of lying thieves and I wouldn't send my enemies to them!

The Chase Bank Lost Draft Department has the rudest, most incompetent "customer service" staff I have ever dealt with. In September 2008, the roof of my home was damaged due to a hurricane. The roof damage allowed water to enter my home, causing further damage to the inside. The insurance claim was handled quickly, and everything was fine until it was put in the hands of the Chase Lost Draft Department.
On 11/11/08, I received a check from my insurance company for the total claim amount and forwarded it to the Loss Draft Department. It was at this time I was introduced to a side of Chase customer service that I have never experienced before. The whole department conducts business under the pretense of "We have your insurance money, and we will distribute it as we please." They talked down to me and would not release any of the funds until we filled out the forms and followed procedures exactly. Yes, they have procedures to follow, but with the incompetent customer service experienced, you never are told the correct information.
You can call today and be told all you need is this, and two weeks later, I called again and it's "Oh, you need this now." It is a never-ending cycle of phone calls that always end with us having a new or different missing form or piece of information. It has become very apparent to me that Chase's plan of action on holding these escrow funds is to delay the distributions as long as possible in order to collect the additional interest that can be made.
On 12/26/09, the first portion of the insurance money was finally released. We did not get another check until 04/10/09. In this period, several phone calls to the Chase Lost Draft Department ended with us needing different forms filled out than the prior calls required. I do not know how Chase runs its company, but with this type of customer service, it's a wonder they are still in business.
I spoke with the Chase Lost Draft Department, and the lady (I do not remember her name.) assured me that all I needed to get the second disbursement of funds was to re-fill out the forms with my self listed as the contractor. I was not told this in the beginning and listed the actual contractors. But since I had two, they said I had to be listed as the self contractor. Upon completion of these forms and after the fax waiting period, I finally did get the second check released. So at this point, I got the second check released and set up the final inspection with Chase.
Of course, the inspector only lists the repairs as 85% complete again, even though much work had been done in the period from the inspection prior to the release of the second check (which was listed as 85% complete). That way, I have to again pay Chase to do another inspection (#4). I did not find this information out, until I made a call to the Chase Lost Draft Department, questioning the status of the remaining funds on 07/24/09.
Of course, when I called, I again found out that the forms are incorrectly filled out again. How could the second check be dispersed using the same forms, but yet when time comes to get the remaining funds released suddenly, there is another issue? This is even after I was assured that I had all the correct forms filled out prior to releasing the second check. This was the time I got transferred to another rude, unhelpful manager, Cheline. (She sarcastically spelled her name out for me when I requested her full name.)
Cheline informed me of the discrepancy in forms, and I asked her why this was not an issue before. Of course, she did not have an answer and went on the defensive side. She stated that a customer service rep called a number and spoke with me about what forms I was missing on 07/03/09. Yet somehow, I have not had the number they called since April 2008. She began naming dates she insisted Chase sent documents to me, and when I questioned some, she said, "Oh, but you received the check but not those ones." She became very flustered and would not discuss anything else, because I was transferred to her to talk about the delay in my insurance funds.
Besides the rude customer service from Cheline, I never got an answer for why this discrepancy was not an issue for the release of the second check. It was immediately "I am right; you are wrong. So don't question me, because I cannot give you an answer." Why were these issues not brought to my attention months ago when it could have been addressed? Each and every time it appeared we were ready to have a check released, somehow, there was an issue with the paperwork. It seems like these delays in distribution are in fact a way for Chase to make money. How else can you explain such incompetent management of the company?

I have been in the process of refinancing my current mortgage with Chase since September of last year. I have provided them with all the documents that they requested in regard to my financial credibility and was approved to refinance for a lower rate. I have opened my home twice to an appraiser so that the process could be expedited in a timely fashion. The latest hold up is that there are 3 deposits from my husband's employer that were deposited into my account.
My husband's name is not on my Chase checking account. However, he endorsed the check over to me. Now, Chase is asking for his pay stubs even after his employer faxed them a letter stating where the checks originated from. My husband is not refinancing, I am. The mortgage is in my name and I am the one paying for it. I believe that I have been treated unfairly in lieu of the present economic system and what the banks are going through. Please, I would appreciate acknowledgment of this complaint. Thank you. Consequences: Chase's credibility as a sound financial institution with knowledgeable and competent employees.

I was approved by Chase Bank for a refinance loan on 4/17/09 with a 4.50%. I was hoping to close within 30 to 60 days of the approval. To this day, we have not close 07/24/2009. Each time I have contacted Chase, I was told that they were very busy and would contact me after the underwriting is completed. I am very frustrated and confused. I could have refinance with XXXBank, which was offering a no closing cost and close within 30 days to the company I work for. But I had already stated my application with Chase and paid a non-refundable fee of $750.00. If I was told of the delay of over 5 months before I had completed my application, I would have declined Chase's offer. I have been sending email on a weekly basis. On 07/24/2009, I was being told that my application could take another 4-5 weeks to process. Chase has now taken a total of over 3 months to get my application to the underwriting area, and I have to wait another 4-5 weeks for an answer. I could have had this loan close by other banks 2 months ago. I now consider this unethical business practice.

I applied for refinancing for my condominium in January 2009 with WaMu/Chase with plenty of equity and good credit and was assured there would be no problem. After several weeks and collecting a non-refundable $300 processing fee, my application was denied because unbeknownst to me, the renter-to-owner ratio was too high for Fannie Mae's new guidelines. I then was advised that I might qualify for the new loan modification program, which I did, and hurriedly sent all the paperwork in early March.
Other than first alerting me to send another document in, I have had any official word from them. I have verbally been told by their special collection unit one and a half month ago that my application was being evaluated and to look for paperwork in the next week or two. Another told me that since I was still current, they were giving me the most priority they could. Shameful. Does anyone know of a business that conducts its activities in such a way?
I am stressed beyond belief because I do not know if I can lower the payment that takes most of my income. I have gone without essentials, such as decent shoes to wear to work, to stay current. What's most irritating is that I could have refinanced with another entity that would have accepted my condo if I had known they would not fulfill their promise.

For the past year, we have tried to prove (which we finally did) that we have always carried home owner insurance. And after many phone calls and certified letters, Chase finally did acknowledge that we did always have insurance. The problem is that for all those months, Chase set up an escrow account for their insurance and they applied every payment that I paid to the escrow account instead of my loan, which in turn always showed that I was late on my house payments. I did receive a letter from the insurance department stating that they have requested the escrow be knocked off.
No one ever followed through with this and I have now been foreclosed on. I went to my Chase branch and was given a phone number to call to try to get this worked out, but I have been transferred 6 different times today from one department to the next. This has ruined my credit and I am not even sure if I will be able to stay in my home since it is foreclosed on just this past week. I have all documentation and letters from Chase and I will be more than happy to provide those. I do not know what to do at this point because I can't get anyone who knows anything. They have all the information on their screens also.

During mid December 2008, when the home mortgage interest rates dipped into the 4% range, I contacted the holder of my mortgage to see about refinancing or loan modification. Chase is the current, although not the original holder. Sometime in June of 2008 they bought my loan from Freedom Mortgage. After quite some time on the phone going thru the Chase Mortgage customer service, I was referred to the mortgage modification department. I am a retired army soldier and my mortgage takes up about 55% of my take home pay. While this is doable, I can't make headway on anything else, nor keep up with repairs.
After several hours, the loan modification department said I did not qualify for a modification because my loan to debt ratio was too low and I would need to go through a regular loan officer. So, at that time, I was assigned to Chad ** who was a senior officer of the department. He assured me there would be no problem with refinancing and that my new interest rate would be 4 3/8%. This is buying down the rate using 3 points. I received paperwork and filled it all out and sent it in to him by fax. I live over 20 miles from town in a rural area so it takes some time for me to get in and back to a fax machine, especially in the dead of winter. This was around Dec 16, 2008.
Mr. ** said an appraisal will need to be done and that it will cost me $400. I used money I had set aside for my winter heating to pay for this because Chad assured me again the loan would close before the end of January. Following several weeks, I never heard anything from Mr. **. It was early to mid January when I finally got a hold of a loan process officer by the name of Shannon **.
Several more days went by and I got a hold of Mr. ** again but he told me the loan was reassigned to another loan officer (I don't recall that other name). Another couple weeks went by, and the new loan officer then told me that the loan had been disapproved because my debt to income ratio was too high and was referred back to the loan modification department. Again, after going through everything with that department again, I was told I did not qualify because I can still make my current house payment so I was referred back to Chad **.
In late January, Mr. ** then said that I still did not qualify for a refinance because the value of my home exceeded the 80% limit of my current mortgage (with refinancing costs the amount would put it around the 86% mark). I asked when this had been done since no one had been to my house, and he said it was done in late December. He then told me that he would order an in house inspection and gave me the name of the company in Spokane that will do it.
After several days, no one had called me about this new appraisal so I contacted the firm myself. They gave me the date that someone will be there and told me no one had been to my property before. According to Chad **, this was the same company that supposedly did a "drive-by" assessment. This could not have been possible since late December 2008, we had a major winter storm here that dumped a record snowfall of several feet, and my half mile long road was blocked for quite some time. So, unless they came my sleigh, they could not have seen my house.
Two women from the firm finally arrived in late January and told me they did a drive by in December and I asked how they did it, since there was 3-4 feet of snow blocking the road and they said their 4-wheel drive gets them anywhere (yeah right). The new assessment came in a little higher, but still placed me above the 80% mark (Kootenai County had my property assessed $60k higher than what Chase said it was worth). Chad ** then told me I didn't qualify but a new program was coming out and I would qualify for it.
Another month went by and after dozens of attempts to get a hold of Mr. **, I finally reached him to find out the status. He assured me I would still get the 4 3/8% rate, but the new program would not be available until April 1. Then on the 1st, I was told it was delayed till the 15th. I was pretty frustrated at this point. On April 15, I was told the new program was delayed until 1 May and then again until the 1st week of June and there was nothing he could do till then.
When June rolled around, I was told I didn't qualify for any new program that allowed for loans that exceeded the 80% mark, but not why I didn't qualify. After several attempts to get a hold of Chad **, his voice mail indicated he was being transferred and all his customers would need to see other loan officers. I never heard from him again. By late June, I had finally got a hold of another loan officer but was told I didn't qualify (no reason why again), but by this time the interest rates were back up around 5 1/4% and would be pointless for me to refinance. Rather than having a couple hundred dollar savings, I would be lucky to see any at all.
At one point in May, during all this, when I was having trouble making my June payment (which I did on time), Chad **'s response to me was "Well, looks like you will have to sell your property." This attitude and constant run around has really frustrated me and it is pretty obvious that Chase has no interest in customer satisfaction, just their money. I am interested in knowing if and what type of legal action I can take against Chase Mortgage.

I've been working with Chase on my sister’s behalf; she filed for bankruptcy and got behind her mortgage. I called in February to discuss options besides foreclosure. At that point, she was due for October which we still couldn't understand since they lost checks. They applied her mortgage payments to fees and didn't inform her, etc. I have documentation for each conversation I had but one (of course one of the most important ones).
January: I set up a payment plan.
February: I was told the person I set the payment plan up with didn't have the authority to do a plan; I set up another payment plan. Throughout February I got paperwork, signed it and faxed it back. I sent the down payment via Western Union. The fax never got there. The number on the paperwork to fax back to was the wrong number. I tried faxing five times and they never received even though Kinko's FedEx fax showed successful transmission. First was payment due in April for $1342.
March: my sister gets a call from Chase asking her to decide which program she wanted for her modification. Chase vs. Making Homes Affordable. I called back and they said she didn't qualify for the MHA but that the $2000 downpayment would be applied to her payment plan and her new payment would be $992. I called to confirm they received April's payment of $992, which they did. Also, I called to check on the status of modification and was told they never received the papers. We sent everything certified this time.
April: I called to check status of modification and to confirm they received the payment. I was told they did receive the payment and have all the papers they need.
May: I called to check status and the rep noted the account that I called and told me it was still in process.
June: I called to check status and confirm payment was received. Payment was received and now they're missing paperwork (same paper work we sent certified), so we sent it back in. I called back later in the month and the rep told me that Chase had received it in one department but that another department had to "image it" to the account. She would escalate to her supervisor and I should call back in a few days. I called back in a few days. Everything was imaged and on the account and the modification was now processing the modification.
July: my sister paid via her online bank and had the wrong address. She put a stop payment on the check. We Western Unioned the money on June 2nd and they cashed her check.
July 13th, today, I call just to check the status (as I’ve been told is necessary) and here's what I'm told. In April, they moved her to the MHA program and because the papers weren't processed in time before her payment, her mortgage payment went to back fees (so basically she "didn't pay the April payment plan"). What we thought was a recalculation of the mortgage was actually a program change to MHA. With April's payment now not "paid" - every month she made a payment and it appeared that she was paying late when we thought she was paying early (4/28 was paid for May; 5/30 for June; 7/2 for July). Since every payment was a month behind what we thought, we were paying the 7/2 was for 6/1 payment; therefore, we’re over 30 days late and now she's defaulted.
She doesn't qualify for the MHA program, so she was supposed to be paying $1342 on the Chase mortgage program and not the $992 for MHA. But according to the computer, she has now defaulted on the MHA program and can no longer go that route (she never qualified for this, but she's now not able to). The money she's paying on her payment plan has all gone to late fees and attorney fees and not her mortgage directly. So she's now 6 months behind on her mortgage.
We've set up another payment plan with them for 90 days, but I’m scared that I’ll have a similar conversation with them in 90 days if I don't forget to ask something specifically, such as, not only “did you received the April payment,” but in addition, “did you apply those funds to April's payment plan for the mortgage.” This whole situation has been a nightmare with Chase. Their reps were so incredibly rude that I must admit I hung up on those that yelled at me, but in Chase's documentation somehow that equated to "referred to website for MHA education.” I honestly don't know how to make this stop. My mom lives with her and she has 2 teenagers living at home and can't lose this house, but I'm at a loss as to how to help her.

I received an email alert from Chase on July 8, saying they had received the payment, but today, July 13, they still have not applied it. I've spent hours on the phone without ever reaching a live person. I've sent multiple secure emails in the last 2 weeks, without ever receiving a response, although Chase promises an immediate acknowledgment of receipt and an investigation and response in 2 business days. I have even faxed! Late charges will be incurred in 2 days. I have a pending sales contract on that home - at last! - and my closing attorney will shortly be asking for payoff information.

In January 2009, I applied with WaMu (now Chase) to refinance my house. They ran my credit on January 30 (800+ FICO) and ordered an appraisal which was done on February 21. My loan was approved and my rate "locked in". The loan officer in the branch has optimistically assured me that docs were coming "any day now" since March. Well, "any day now" turned into weeks which has now become months. I have had to submit to another appraisal because the first appraisal "expired". I have called and left numerous voice mail messages for Jenny, the processor, and only once has she had the courtesy to call me back.
I am at my wits end with these people but I can't start over at this point because rates have gone up since I locked in. I have banked with WaMu for years and therefore thought that they were a good choice as lender. I figured they would probably sell my loan anyway, so what did it matter. Obviously, I was mistaken. I'm curious about why they are dragging their feet. Why did they allow the first appraisal to expire knowing full well the consequences in this market? Since interest rates have gone up, are they hoping that the appraisal will come in low enough now that they can now decline the loan?
If I had to do over again, I would certainly not choose WaMu (Chase)! My situation, unlike others, is not desperate; my intent was simply to consolidate my 1st and 2nd mortgages and lower my interest rate. But no matter the reason, they have caused undue worry and stress on me and countless others. I will not just walk away. They agreed to loan me money at a specific rate, contingent upon sufficient equity in the property, stable work history, sufficient salary, and stellar credit history. I have met my obligation. Now I want them to meet theirs! They should be held accountable for their actions (or lack thereof) and be forced to comply with the terms of the agreement that was made. How can this be accomplished?

We sold our house in Seattle on May 20, 2009 and paid off our Washington Mutual home mortgage, of which Chase had taken over servicing as of October of 2008. Although we remained at our same address until June 24th, Chase failed to send us a refund of the tax/insurance escrow refund of almost $1,600. After we arrived at our new address in Massachusetts and saw that no refund had been sent there either, I contacted Chase on June 30th and was told that the refund check had been mailed on June 4th to an address in Seattle that I had never heard of!
The customer service agent asserted that we had changed our address at some time in the past, which was absolutely false, as we had never authorized an address change. They indicated that they would not re-issue the check for 30 days after issuance, to see whether the check would be deposited, and also they would not stop payment on it either! They indicated that my only recourse was to wait until July 6th and then call back to find out what had happened to my $1,600.
They were unable to provide any further information about the address change, when or how it had happened, or whose address it was. By Googling the address and searching for it in the King County tax assessor’s database, I was able to ascertain who lived there and to obtain their home and work phone numbers. I called them and found out that in fact they had also paid off their Washington Mutual mortgage in May 2009 and had received our refund check through an obvious bank error. They told me that they had returned the check to Chase in mid June.
I then called Chase again on July 1st and told them this story. They said that their records indicated that indeed they had received the returned check, but it didn't matter, they still would not consider a request for refund check re-issuance until July 6th per bank policy. I even spoke with a supervisor who refused to budge on this policy, and also refused to connect me with his manager, who he claimed was on vacation.
I called Chase this morning, July 8th, to request check re-issuance. I was told that re-issuance would take 8 business days. When I protested that I had already been waiting seven weeks for my escrow refund, I was told I would have to speak to a manager to get my request "expedited". The manager put me on hold for 20 minutes to "research my request", then came back to tell me that she would put in a request to have the check expedited, but that it would take two business days to have the request reviewed.
Our loan was paid off seven weeks ago and we still have not been issued an escrow refund for almost $1,600. This has negatively impacted our liquidity, as we have had to make insurance and tax payments on our new property in the meantime.

I have recently been trying to short sale my house and despite Obama's hard work to aid consumers in preventing foreclosures, Chase has done everything possible to make sure this doesn't happen. I, just like millions of others, purchased my home with the American dream of refinancing at the climbing home values. I even pulled money out of my savings to work on the house and raise the value even more. Then all of a sudden, the economy hit me hard. To make matters worse, I am a real estate agent so when the economy fell, so did my income. I am trying to short sale my home now for a fair market value. I have the buyer and everything has gone smoothly.
The first mortgage, of course, has been extremely helpful in moving this process along quickly. The second mortgage is unfortunately with Chase Banks. They have been my demise. The negotiator has been completely rude, condescending and downright unwilling to help me or compromise on anything. They asked for $35,000 cash! That is above and beyond the $3000 the first lender was going to give them and $1000 from the Obama Housing Plan program. If I had $35,000 cash, I definitely would not be in the situation I am in now. Chase has told me things like, you realtors are making way too much money on these transactions, I think you should be willing to give up your commissions to make it up! Also, you had no problems spending the money from your equity line, you should have no problems paying it back. And to top it all off, I could care less if we don't get a dime from this transaction, we've already charged it off!
To make matters worse, Chase is the one lender that prides themselves on their willingness to help their clients during this short sale process! They even have a whole webpage dedicated to showing how much they are here to help! I am seriously shocked at the fact that I can be victimized in this way when all I am trying to do is avoid foreclosure like everyone else! I have done everything possible to make this work and so has the buyer on the transaction. I cannot ask the buyer to come up anymore on price and am now at a loss of what I can do. I need someone to know how unfairly I have been treated and am now going to have to face foreclosure because of it! Chase portrays an image of wanting to help, yet when I needed them, they laughed in my face. How are we ever going to survive this economy when the resources we think we have turn their backs on us?

I applied for a mortgage refinance with Chase, and I was required to pay $425 for a home appraisal. I was dealing with a "Senior Loan Officer" by the name of James **, who sent me papers with inaccurate figures for taxes to be escrowed. After deciding that I did not want to do the refinance with Chase due to Mr. James's unprofessional practices, he refused to refund my money.
The loan I applied for was an FHA refinance, which required an in-home appraisal which was never done. Mr. James threatened that if I didn't do the refinance with him, he would not refund my $425. I have also contacted the FTC and the US Department of Banking regarding this matter. I also contacted Mr. James's managers, Dan ** and Mindy ** in regards to this matter, and they all seem to run a scam ring. I don't want any further dealings with these people. I just want my money refunded for a service that was never rendered. Please help! Thank you!

I was forced to retire. As my income is now 1/2 what it was while employed, I have asked for an adjustment to my mortgage so I can keep my condo. It started with WAMU. All the paperwork requested was filled out and faxed. I received nothing. After waiting over 30 days, I called. After the runaround to no less than 5 people, I was told that now WAMU is Chase. I was further told to download new Chase paperwork and refile. I sent via fax all the information that was requested. I have now received a letter stating that I have yet to provide them information that I had, on two occasions, already provided. I faxed again and asked that if what I have sent is not sufficient, call me and advise in detail what is acceptable.
I feel as if this is all a delay in tactics from them. Try to call and you get sent from department to department by people who act as if your worth is zero. All I want is action, I keep dipping into my retirement savings to the tune of $2,500 per month just to stay here and do what I think is the right thing. It appears that they would rather I walk rather than help me. What can I do? Who can I turn to to get this issue resolved in a more timely and less frustrating manner? Many thanks for your help in advance.

In mid-January 2009, we started a refinance with WAMU-JP Morgan Chase, a 15-year at 4.5% with a $750 application fee. My husband and I have excellent credit (750 and 801). We are asking for $127,000 on house appraised at $211,000. In May, the loan coordination and other staff asked for the same documents four times in a week to the point of red flags for me. I drove to our nearest WAMU and talked to a real person who got us connected with the loan coordinator, D. **, who assured me this is not the way they do business but they have such high volume that things are taking a little extra time. He became our new loan coordinator and assured us this would be taken care of quickly. So far, he too is not answering the phone or calling back. He did however email with me June 3 stating he would have our file back tomorrow (June4).
It is now June28, six months after starting this loan. We feel locked in to waiting because of the low interest rate and the $750 app fee, mainly the low interest rate. We have been paying on our WAMU (old loan) at 7.4% now this entire time and really feel that they are dragging their feet to keep us in the higher loan. All we want is to close and be done, but this is ridiculous. He sent me an email this morning stating they are hiring new people. We are out $750, six months of interest on our old loan and now the 4.5% interest rate is a thing of the past. I am one upset person! I want to file a class action lawsuit.

My mortgage was originally with Washington Mutual and was taken over by Chase in the WAMU failure. In May 2009, I wanted to lower my interest rate from 8%. My first choice was Chase. On 5/6/09, I contacted a loan officer with Chase. He was very interested and got all my information verbally over the phone. He stated at that time he could give me a 4.875% rate with .75% points on my mortgage with a binding fee of $750.00 for 90 days. He stated he could give me a 95% loan. He also stated that should the interest rate drop again I would be offered a one-time opportunity to take the lower rate during those 90 days. I accepted the offer and gave all the information.
That day I received the loan package by e-mail plus all the necessary forms to look over, making sure all information was correct. I immediately noticed the address was incorrect. I tried to call Thomas ** on his private line since he had given it to me earlier. I left a message on his answering machine and immediately sent an e-mail stating the error in the paper work. On 5/7/09 I received another loan package by e-mail but it was the same incorrect information. I tried to call again but could only leave a message and also sent another e-mail. On 5/8/09 I tried to call several times with only getting a voice machine… still no return call from Thomas **.
On 5/9/09 the appraiser came out and had spent an hour trying to find the property. She was very confused with the wrong address and had to call her company. At the same time I tried called Thomas twice with no results. I also called Chase customer service with no results. The appraiser's company told her to go ahead and appraise the correct property and they would try to fix the problems. Toward the end of May, I tried off and on many times to contact Thomas with no results. Then early in the morning of 6/4/09, I called his number one more time and he answered. Amazing! I was told that the appraisal was not as high as he thought it would be and he would have to call the county I lived in to obtain the FHA rate.
I did not ask for a FHA loan but was not opposed. He came back and stated he could only give me an 80% loan with a 5.5% interest rate. I told him ‘no’, that he had taken my binder fee of $750.00 for 90 days and I was still entitled to the 4.875%. He said no and I said I would have checked into this and would get back with him. That very day, I filed a dispute on the charge with my credit card company (by the way is Chase). I have filled out the paper work on this disputed charge. I still have not received a single call from Thomas or any other Chase loan officer.
On 6/4/09 I contacted Lending Tree to refinance my mortgage and they are working on the loan. Now they have been given the appraisal but been told by Mr. Thomas ** that my FHA was turned down by them. This stops me from getting an FHA with Lending Tree. I have never filed for bankruptcy and have a credit score of 750 and have never missed a house payment. I am 67 years old, retired and feeling that Chase has taken advantage of me as a senior citizen. I have bought and sold many houses over my lifetime but never have I had these problems. I want my record cleared, I want my original 4.875% interest rate and the loan officer reprimanded.

I am adding my story to the long list of devastated loan mod homeowners. I don't believe Wamu/Chase has any intention of modifying a loan. I wonder if Mr. Obama knows how they are mishandling the money he gave them. I would be very interested in joining a class action law suit against them. I am on my 3rd loan mod application and have never made it past "the openers". There is no manager or supervisor to speak to ever. My husband and I started this process in November ‘08 when we were declined for being "current" on our mortgage. The woman processing our app actually suggested we miss December ‘08 payment as we have a Freddie Mac loan and they required their loan mods to be at least 2 months delinquent.
In February ‘09, we applied again. My husband is in construction and I own a spa. Needless to say, business has been slow. Out of necessity, we missed the January ‘09 and February ‘09 payments. I had been going back and forth with them over "missing items" and on April 29, 2009, I was assured that after numerous faxes, my missing items had been received and that now I was a "complete package." It would be approximately 60 days before we were assigned to the "negotiator" and all we could do was wait.
Today, June 25, 2009, I made my weekly phone call to Wamu to make sure everything was on track. I was informed that my case was closed, denied and that my documents had been shredded. The reason being that the said missing items have not been received in the 30-day time period from a March 14, 2009 letter. I have proof that I began faxing these items not only within 30 days, but within the 10 demanded in the letter. The Wamu reps also have all my attempted faxes with my follow-up calls documented in their notes and read them back to me today. For the last two months, I have called at least once a week to make sure that all was on track. Not one rep ever mentioned anything about the items being received late and every one of them assured me that items had been received and I was just in line for the negotiator. In less than one week, we went from being a complete package waiting for a negotiator to being declined.
I believe Wamu/Chase intentionally documented the items beyond the due date so as to decline my case. For some reason, they couldn't seem to get my faxes right each time I sent them; yet they stuck with the original March 14 due date, even though it was their end that was messing up. I was never informed that I was still operating under an inflexible timeline. I was never informed that the documents were considered "late". For two months, I was assured every week that things were received, completed and we just had to wait. This thing is consuming my life when I should be focusing on running my business in the worst economic situation of my lifetime. Consequences? I have to re-apply and start the frustrating fax-a-thon with the imps at Wamu.

On April 14, I called chase for their mortgage rates. I was quoted 4.50%/15 years. I asked to speak to someone to put in application. I was transferred to Michael **. I stated I was interested in the 4.50%/15 years loan. He stated it would be 5.50%, unless I paid 2.40pts to buy down to 4.50%. After thinking about it, I said yes, even though I felt at this time this was bait and switch, and locked in to this rate. I filled out and signed application and sent back all necessary information.
3 weeks passed, and I was told they needed the same info. I followed up again. After 2 months, I was told by Corey ** that file was going to underwriters. 2 weeks passed, and I got a contract to sign for my mortgage. Information was wrong about rate, years, and 12 items they needed for approval. 6 of the same items I had sent twice before. Also contained in the packet was another form saying "We were not approved for this loan."
I could not get any information from either party about both these forms for an explanation. So I was stressed and told them to withdraw my application. They said they would. All through this account I was asked repeatedly to increase the size of my mortgage from $60,000 to $100.00. Now, I lost my initial $750. I lost all this time in refinancing. I went with Chase, only because WaMu was purchased by Chase and that was who held my mortgage.

In January, I asked for a mortgage loan modification packet as I was and am unemployed. Chase Home finance sent it to me. I sent it back via registered mail and on January 22, 2009, they signed for it. I waited but was kept being harassed about the payments. They were made, but late, so I could keep my home for my family. Then, after many heated arguments with the customer service representatives, and trying to play catchup with our mortgage, we received a letter from ** in the loan modification department that "per our instructions, the loan modification was canceled."
We never once told her to stop the paperwork, nor will this woman speak to me regarding the problem. I have tried all the avenues I can think of. Now, we are looking into calling an attorney and filing a lawsuit against Chase mortgage for discrimination and mental anguish on my part and my wife or something. This has caused us a real problem financially and we do not want to lose the home we just purchased last year. I am looking for work. I lost my job of 19 years in November and I have been looking for full time work. But due to the economy, it is difficult, especially in our local.
We were harassed three times a day from the customer service department, never speaking once to the same person. They sent someone here, an appraiser, to see if anyone was home and that their interest was secure. We were not home, but they actually walked into the house, (the back door was unlocked), left a letter on the kitchen table, and got bitten by our dog. They had absolutely no right to be in our home.
The customer service is terrible. The people can hardly speak English and then they just do not understand what we are trying to tell them. This whole mortgage has been a total nightmare and a mess. They bought it from Bankers Trust even before our first payment was due. They lost a payment, the very first one, and it took us 60 days to get a new money order. In the meantime, they keep up with the phone calls three times a day, seven days a week. I am working seasonal right now, until September, then I will no doubt be laid off and back on unemployment once again. Then, the nightmare will start all over.
All I want is a little help from Chase and obtain a loan modification, we sent all the paperwork necessary to them in January. Please help me with this plight. They have even started foreclosure proceeding twice because we were behind a month. My wife has had a nervous breakdown over this whole situation, and I am taking medicine for high blood pressure. I get 400.00 a week for unemployment and I have a car payment, insurance, utilities and we just can not even afford groceries.

I am a Hurricane Ike victim who lost almost everything. When I got my insurance checks, such as they were, they were made out to Chase as the mortgage-holder. I had to send them to Duluth, GA to be countersigned. They are holding $37,391.08, the final amount I will receive. I cannot fix my house w/o this money and it is far from enough.
Someone at the Duluth office called me in December (they say February) to tell me that they needed completed paperwork and that my house should have been repaired by then. I did not get a permit from the City of Galveston to rebuild for almost six (6) months. I was told then that the insurance money was theirs and they were not required to give it to me. My account is "monitored" because it is over $20,000. I have never been late on a mortgage payment or my equity loan since I bought the house.
I was so upset after talking to them the first time that I waited until I had all my permits and had completed as much work as I could on the money I received. I have spent the entire amount of my contents money fixing the house. It cost $5,000 approx. to reinstall the electricity alone due to Galveston regulations, $9,000.00 for air conditioning and we put in a laundry room. I still have no kitchen, no downstairs bathroom, no floors, a torn-up porch, and the house needs repainting and shutters after the storm. I received no help from FEMA or the City of Galveston. I paid the premiums for flood, windstorm and homeowners insurance. Chase had nothing to do with it, they just have the mortgage.
When I checked the paperwork today, they want a clean air certificate, a contractor's estimate for the whole house, a W-9 from him and a lien release, although the work is not yet done. That is just so they will deign to send an inspector to verify that I have done 50% of the work.
Today, I drove from Galveston to the nearest Houston branch, approximately a 1 1/2 hour drive, and spoke with a gentleman there (I wanted to talk to the manager and he may have been one of them). He called the Loss Draft Department in Georgia. Again, they refused to waive any of the paperwork requirements and were quite nasty. When I asked to speak with their president, I was told they didn't have one. Supposedly, they have a management "team" and there is no one who makes policy or can waive the requirements. This is ridiculous. For the policy not followed by other banks that I know of, to be a policy, someone decided on it and that person or persons can waive or adjust it at will.
They were adamant that I will not get the money until I jump through all their hoops. They would not tell me how I could get the "clean air" certificate or from whom, although they must have other people in Texas in the same situation. All these documents require that the contractor and I both get them notarized. He has heard of these certificates but they are not generally required here as far as we know. Chase says I have to pay a company to do this. I told the gentleman in the Houston branch of Chase that if they did not release my money, I had no choice but to contact a lawyer to sue or walk the mortgage. I cannot continue to live like this. I also told him that Chase could hire its own contractor, subject to my approval and do the work itself on the money there is. I doubt they can find anyone who can. The Houston branch can do nothing about my problem. They tell me that only the Georgia office can.
They did tell me that a Ms. ** would call me today. She has not done so as of 5:37 pm our time. My "kitchen" consists of an ironing board in the second-floor bathroom with a toaster, microwave and coffee pot. This past week, the contractor hooked up the refrigerator in the dining room so I can at least have cold drinks and fruit. I have been living like this since the hurricane. I had 2 1/2-3 feet of water in the house and lost all my downstairs possessions. I have received numerous denial letters from FEMA, all claiming it needs more documentation.

Next thing I know, $700 is missing from my checking account and I still have no idea what their closing costs are. By Federal Law, they are required to provide a good faith estimate of these fees within 3 days of the application. This never happened. Over a month goes by and it’s the day before I am scheduled to close. I finally get a copy of their fees and they are charging $600 in junk "underwriting fees" and "processing fees". This is about double from what I've seen anywhere else. I complained to my loan officer and reminded her that she was violating Federal Law by hiding these from me until the night before closing. She conceded that they did not provide a good faith estimate as is legally obligated. She then simply said she was sorry and refused to negotiate the outrageous junk fees. I wanted to walk away from the loan, but rates had gone up in the meantime and it would have been more expensive.

After telling me I am approved and after submitting all the papers and getting my money on my account, and after telling me too that I will sign all the papers on a specific date and get my cash out, here is what they say: I got declined by the underwriters. Why? No specific answer as I have been calling them and they do not tell me the real truth. I just got an email from the FDIC and they told me this:
“The FDIC insures the deposits of JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association. As a national bank, however, it is regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Since your complaint deals with the operation of the institution, rather than deposit insurance, you should contact that agency for assistance. You can reach the OCC Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Customer Assistance Unit.”
So, everyone, make your complaint at OCC. Since I got rip off by Chase Bank, I try to get someone to hear what they did to all these people they also ripped off. I thought it is only me. But when I knew that a lot of people have the same rip off, I even sent a letter to the President. Yup, President Obama. In the summer of 2007, I was solicited by WaMu loan reps to obtain a new loan at a better rate. Part of the package was a HELOC for $500,000, along with the first for $155,000. In November 2008, I received a letter lowering my HELOC to $100,000 based on "a significant decline in the value of the property securing the HELOC". I called the number listed on the suspension notice after I talked to the local bank manager here in Santa Rosa, CA and asked to have an appraiser chosen by WaMu come out and reevaluate the property. They told me that an appraiser would be calling to set up an appointment. About a month later, a lady called from an appraisal company and left a message wanting to know if I was still interested in the appraisal. I did not call her back. At the 1st of March 2009, I received another letter, this time from JP Morgan Chase almost identical to the first letter but this time reducing the HELOC to zero.
Again, I called the number in South Carolina and this time, I asked for the supervisor and was put in touch with Mr. Patrick **. Mr. ** explained to me that yes, in fact my HELOC had been fully reinstated. I requested that Mr. ** send me a follow-up correspondence to that effect and thanked him. A month went by and I watched my account at the JP Morgan/WaMu website and there was no change in the status of the loan. So in the first week of April 2009, I again called the number and asked for Patrick **. This time, I was connected to Mr. JR **. Mr. ** informed me that the HELOC had not been reinstated and in fact, I had been sent a letter stating the reasons why. This was the first of several "mysterious", disappearing or non-existing correspondence which was never sent by JP Morgan Chase.
Again, I asked to appeal the suspension and was told of the need for the appraiser. I relayed the story of the appraiser failing to call for a month to Mr. ** and told him that I had already contacted a local appraiser for the job since I was expected to pay for this service. He told me that I could only use the appraiser that JP Morgan Chase recommended even though I would have to pay for the appraisal. Mr. ** explained that this was the only way to appeal. I then asked to speak to his supervisor. I was told that someone would call me the following day. I received a brief unintelligible message from someone about 6:00AM on my cell phone the next morning. On May 5th, I sent another message through the WaMu/Chase website explaining the situation and received a reply on 5-7 telling me that the account would remain suspended, and a letter of explanation would be forthcoming in 7-10 business days.
I then called my local bank manager Craig **, who presided at the original document signing, and he gave me the number of the corporate offices. I called and spoke with a lady named Soledad on May 12th. I explained the situation. She told me that she would look into it and call me back. After this, my wife received a phone call from a lady from Chase named Crystal or Krystal, who told her that the loan was still suspended and another "letter" would be sent explaining the reason. I will close my personal and business bank accounts with Chase. I will bank with Wells Fargo. I have an existing home loan with Chase. I will do my best to refinance and let somebody else make the money that Chase is making off my mortgage, personal, and business accounts.
From my point of view as a person with MSc. degree in Engineering, I would tell my client that I am so booked now to meet with you. The earliest possible to meet with you is on" for example after three months from now". That time I will appreciate the honesty and it is up to me that time to finance with you or with any other bank that I like.
Please, do something about this. Angie ** need more training in customer service and need to know that she never wins a battle with a customer. She may win, but the bank will loose. Losing a customer's business is not going to impact the employee paycheck, but bank paycheck. By the way, English is my second language. I am sure you would know that if you listen to me on the phone. Thank you in advance.

I began to refinance my mortgage with Chase on 1/9/09. My credit card was debited $750, for a 'processing fee' and I was told $400 would be refunded at closing. As of 5/30/09, Chase has still not given me any 'product' (refinance) for my $750. I want $750 refunded to my Chase credit card. I have over 20 emails, and many phone calls that show their lack of competence and their lies, concerning my refinance process. I believe that they are not at all interested in refinancing a mortgage, but rather interested in collecting these 'non-refundable' fees, with nothing for the consumer to show for it, except headaches, stomachaches, and the continuance of the higher interest rate (to Chase's benefit).
I contend they never had any intention in giving me a 4.75% rate, instead of the 6.25% rate I am currently paying. They just took my money, and proceeded to blow me off. The only time that something was done towards it, was when I called the bank that holds my (untapped) line of credit, and the title company. Until I made these contacts, not one thing had happened. Then to top it off, they began to say I need to provide all of my personal financial history, and account history again, because it had expired. What?
On 5/30/09, I finally backed out of the process, after having tried to do so in April and early May, but was schmoozed by the salesmen handling my case into believing it would happen quickly, telling them I had no product to show for my $750, and wanted it refunded. They refused. I want some justice here. I'm a 61 yr old single woman (which they knew via the application information), and I believe that they took advantage of me. Please help me. Thank you. The consequences include losing the $750 deposit, the cost of $227 for title search that had already begun, and that I am continuing to pay a higher interest rate of 6.25%, rather than the refinance quote of 4.75%. I am on a fixed income. This is causing me financial hardship.

On May 4, 2009, we received approval letter for a $60,000 mortgage loan from Chase. Then they shifted all our papers to a senior loan processor, Brandi, who sent me an email on May 21 explaining she is now our handler and she needs a list of items from us. We have many regarding the requested items. On May 22, I sent her an email with no response from her. We left a phone call message. No response from her. It's like we are not even applying for a loan. We are just sitting around and closing time is near. We are not going to have a loan. So I feel I am better off eating the application fee and going somewhere else. Now I read on the consumer complaints that this is a common problem with them - that we are not alone.
I feel I should not just keep waiting or I'm going to be in trouble when closing time comes. How could they get away with this? Taking money from people that are already struggling.

Chase recently bought out my bank WA Mutual. I have a home loan which is on auto pay, and it has been working monthly for over five years. Months after Chase took over, I received a letter in the mail saying my auto pay had been canceled. I took the letter to the branch. I was told by the teller they were not sure why my auto pay was canceled, but they would put in a "research request." In the meantime, I would need to pay my home loan in person on the new due date which was two weeks earlier.
So I returned to the branch to make my house payment - good thing I had the ability to make my home payment two weeks early. To my surprise, they told me that I was all paid up with all the principal payments I had made. I'll shorten this part of the story - they applied payments my ex-husband had made on his home on the other side of the state to my loan - $30,000 worth. Obviously, this needed to be corrected so he went to the branch on the other side of the state and worked with the teller who messed up his payments in the first place and she decided to randomly remove some of my payments and apply them to his loan along with the $30,000 she misappropriated.
Now I received a letter in the mail telling me that I was late on my house payments. Of course a late charge would apply and it affected my credit. So back to the bank. One hour later - yes, an entire hour working with a manager and loan professional over the phone - we have gone through line item by line item to determine which payments were mine. Mind you, she was just as willing to remove payments my ex-husband had made on his home and apply them to my home. I asked, "Can't you see where the payments originated from? We live on opposite sides of the state."
No, she was willing to just randomly pick and choose - on my word - which payments were mine. I would like to say that this is the end but .. .I was again canceled from my supposedly reinstated auto pay - before I ever made an auto payment. The most confusing part is the transaction history report I received which contains 16 separate "misapplication payment reversal for correction" line items and I am still missing a house payment. Under my payment status, they have a late payment posted on 5/13/2009 and the next payment due on 5/01/2009. Tomorrow is Saturday and I guess I will be spending my morning at the bank.
I had banked with WA Mutual for 10 plus years. They handled my home loan, home improvement loan, and both my accounts without an issue. Chase, in less than three months, has managed to convince me that they have no business being in the banking business, and after checking this website, I can see why. I have begun the process of moving all my loans and accounts.

I initiated refinancing our mortgage on December 4, 2008 via phone and one week later in person. I am wrapping equity back into the loan to use on my home. It has been six months. They've blown through four locks and were telling me that it will now be delayed further because the appraisal is out-of-date (four months) and will have to be verified by the appraiser. On two occasions in the last two months, I have requested specific information as to what needs to be completed and timeframes, all of which has been ignored. I actually went in for closing the week of May 4 and the figures had not taken into account May's payment.
It's been three weeks now and the paperwork has still not been returned and the appraisal is now reportedly out-of-date. I have had two loan officers quit. The person helping me now has left until May 28 with only an out-of-office message. No contacts in his absence, nothing. All I have is his email from yesterday telling me that in order for the process to go forward, I must allow the people to re-appraise our home. On top of that, Chase cancelled my credit card without any notice or questions because I have it paid off and haven't used it. These are the trials and tribulations of someone with a 750+ credit rating. I pity the rest of America. I would strongly advise caution before doing any business, especially mortgages, with Chase in the Dallas area. A good number of their Dallas staff has reportedly left the company.

This is a follow up from my email dated 5/19/09. Today, I was able to speak to an underwriter of Chase Mortgage Loan Division located in Bloomfield Hills, MI (phone: 1-248-203-6175). When I phoned today to inquire about the status of my loan application, I was told Mark **, an Indianapolis loan representative for Chase, had phoned them in April 2009 and told the loan division I did not want to pursue my application any further. I gasped and had to sit down. Since the mortgage underwriters had cancelled any further work on my mortgage, my file and all of its information was purged.
I really believe Mark ** does not deserve to be a representative of Chase Bank as a loan officer. (I worked for Chase Bank when it was d/b/a as Bank One in Indianapolis, IN within the Community Banking Division. Ironic?) The wonderful person I spoke with, Maria **, told me the only way my loan could be resurrected was through Steve **, phone number 317-705-7450, Indianapolis, IN. I was also told that the loan process would have to begin again; hopefully, the FHA Certificate was still good and could be used. It's on the cusp.
Tomorrow, I have an appointment to talk with the Banking Center Manager at Chase. He does not deserve to be blindsighted. I think I deserve the current mortgage loan rate which should is now lower than it was in February. If this does not go forward and at lower rate, I plan on filing an Age Discrimination case. I also have an AARP attorney listing in Indianapolis which I will pursue. I am so angry. I have been so deceived and so shocked that maybe this is a new banking procedure. It is similar to the shock before the Equal Act laws of 1974. Chase Bank has been deceived by their employee.
Is this age discrimination a scam by a major bank (Chase Bank) or is it just the action of one employee? If anyone in your organization would like to become involved, please contact me: **. Thanks for listening. This could turn out to be a big story especially now with the division of lending practices being reviewed in Congress of every state and the U.S. Congress. Lending practices are being reviewed with determination of purpose. We all need some relief.

In October of 2008, I was informed that my ARM was coming due on my home loan. I applied for loan modification and was approved starting with my November payment. The loan payment went up $120 a month. I sent in two payments (on time). Then, I received from Chase Home Finance a letter offering me to have my original interest-only loan restarted with the ARM moved out for the next five years. I sent in the signed paperwork and also called both the new loan department and the loan modification department, informing them that I would like to stop the loan mod and accept the new interest-only loan.
For the next four months, I sent in the regular payment (on time). I would get 3/4 calls a month, plus 2/3 letters from Chase informing me that I was behind on my payments. I would call Chase and every time I do, the person (always someone different) would inform me that everything was good, just a computer problem. This went on until April 2009 when I was informed by a supervisor at Chase that everything was finished and I should receive my paperwork within a few days showing the correct loan and payment requirement.
Three days later, I received a letter from Chase showing that I now had my interest-only loan, with the ARM due from December 2008 and coming due again on June 2008 raising my payment to $241 per month. I called and talked to a person in Customer Care. I was told that is the way it is and there is nothing I can do. I then talked to a person in the forbearance department and was informed that I could qualify for the new president approved loan. I need to send in $1,426 and other information by May 1, 2009 (it is now April 30, 2009). I got the money sent through Western Union and faxed the paperwork on May 1, 2009.
A week later, I called to verify that everything was going as planned. I was informed that Chase had received the money but not the paperwork (forms). I offered to fax again to a different number supplied by the person in this department. I have a fax confirmation that it went through. However, I was informed on May 8, 2009 that my money was being sent back for failure to complete the required paperwork. It is now the 20th of May and no money has been returned to me. I have set up a new loan again starting June 1, 2009, but I need the money back from the first payment so that I can send them again on June 1. I also received a letter stating that my home is now in foreclosure.
I am at a point where I don't know what to do. I have a letter from Chase showing my loan history and it shows no missed payments. But they say I am $3,900 behind. If I lose the house, then I will just rent for a while. I have talked to two different lawyers and no one wanted to help. I will never use Chase for anything again, and I hope that no one else does either.

On November 18, 2008, I went to my Chase Banking Center, Plainfied, IN, 46168. I met with my personal banker, Brandon **. He asked me if I would like to pay off all my debts by refinancing my home mortgage. It was a great idea, I said yes. The application was completed in the amount of $80,000 with an interest rate of 5.5%. At that time, Brandon gave me a credit card with 0% and told me to charge anything I wanted to get my debt closer to the $80,000 amount (As a side note, my home appraised for $144,000 and I had over $58,000 in a SEP-IRA and other assets at Chase Bank). I paid an $80 application fee on January 8, 2009, and received a Direct Endorsement Approval for a HUD/FHA-Insured Mortgage instrument, which I signed and the Mortgage Loan representative, Mark **, also signed.
I knew this document was an acknowledgement of HUD/FHA's intent and review. I would like to state at this time that I am 68 years old. The US Government asked us all to stimulate the economy and refinance our home mortgages. Back to my complaint. Brandon ** left Chase Bank for National Guard Training sometime in February and would not return to the bank until October 2009. After Brandon left for duty, I only had Mark to communicate with on my loan progress. The last part of February and during the month of March, I began to phone Mark for updates. Mark ** always has his telephone on voice mail. I left message after message asking him to return my call without a return call. On March 20th, I phoned the banking center manager, Dan **, and asked him if he could find out any information for me and return my call.
Mark phoned me the same day stating he had written my number down wrong and he wasn't able to get back to me until then. He told me he had not heard from the mortgage underwriters at that time. On March 30, 2009, I went into the banking center to talk to Mark. I arrived at the banking center at around 12:45 pm. I asked to see Mark. Mark was at lunch, but should return within an hour. I had taken a book with me and sat down and waited. Every banker within the bank asked if they could help me including the banking center manager, and I said, "No, I was waiting for Mark **." At 2:45 pm, Mark acknowledged me and had in his hand a document showing the FHA had issued a Certificate of Approval. He then asked me what would be a good day for me to close on the loan. I told him, "Any day, any time." I did not ask for a copy of the document, my mistake.
After many more calls with no return call, I left Mark a message that I would be in the bank and would like to talk to him again. I went into the bank on April 12, 2009. On that day, I asked Mark for a copy of the document he had shown me on March 30th. I received a copy along with Mark's verbal acknowledgement that the application had gone back to the underwriters (makes sense because the loan had be suspended) for review of a new credit report and a request for bank statements. At that time I asked for a copy of the document he showed me on 3/30/2009. I noticed when I looked at the document, it was a Chase Loan Memorandum - Suspension. The original document suspension date was March 6, 2009. And March 30th was the actual Suspension date. I asked Mark why the suspension and he assured me my FHA certificate was good for a year and I had nothing to worry about.
Today is May 18th. I went to the banking center to see Mark again because he does not return my calls but I had called him to say I was coming into the bank today and would like to talk with him. Today, I was told that Mark had moved to the Chase Banking Center in Speedway, Indiana, and had taken his mortgage loan files with him. I believe he is waiting for me to die, thinking I'm just too old. I am at my wits' end with his terrible customer service. I am not going to let this die. I think AARP and the Legal Aid Society need to contact Mark **, Chase Bank, Speedway, Indiana. If anyone wants to take on a very large bank with assets, ask them to get in touch with me.

I was a potential first time home buyer of a short sale property. I made an offer on the property the day it went onto market. I offered the asking price $289,000 with a full 25% down. I was told the process could take 60-90 days, as short sales were the longest home buying process. My real estate agent and the lender worked hard to move this process forward, but Chase was dragging its feet. Fast forward 6 months and we were told on Monday to get ready to schedule home/pest inspections and that it was all but a done deal. Come Wednesday and Chase has decided that $289,000 isn't enough, and they asked for $35,000 more from us, and they asked for $15,000 more from the current owners.
I was in close communication with the homeowners, lenders, and agents, and everyone was stunned. The new price pushed me out of the running and pushed the current owner to foreclosure. How is this good for anyone? A Chase rep told the lender that since it's been 6 months since the house was put onto the market and that the market in that particular area had rebounded very well, they needed to increase both the selling price and the amount the owner was willing to absorb. Why won't Chase honor its original selling price?

Now it is May 2009 and I was informed that Chase cannot go through with the refi because my flood insurance is insufficient. As a condo unit owner, I cannot purchase flood insurance. The building management has to do it and it is a lengthy process in which all the condo unit owners have to vote for it as it will increase their maintenance. My husband and I are now on our 7th month of trying to work out arrangements to pay our outstanding monthly payments. I am currently a member of the military and we were offered a grant from an organization that would have contributed to just over half of our outstanding balance. Chase refused the payment saying their system would not allow them to accept any payments other than to total amount. We then resorted to setting up a repayment plan. With my husband still currently unemployed the repayment plan amount of $2,300 was unacceptable as we also have three children in our home. It would have just set us up for failure. We then sent a letter to Chase as requested denying the repayment plan and requesting a re-modification. During the initial call, we were told by the Chase representative not to make any further payments while the re-modification was in process.
When my husband called regarding our re-modification (after numerous attempts and no response from Keith **), he was constantly told that Keith ** was handling our account and they could not help us. Again, continuing to make contact with Keith ** with no success, my husband was able to reach someone else who told my husband they did not receive the paperwork and that he should fax. This person also said that Keith ** was very busy due to the current situation. How should we be penalized for the lack of quality employees they have handling these cases? We then received a sheriff visit 2 weeks later. What was this? I am currently deployed and doing my best to support my husband and to ensure a home for my children while thousands of miles away. Not to mention the stress of this ordeal has causing panic attack and jeopardizing my health.
We have a 10" pile of notes as to when and who attempted to contact Chase. We even went to another organization that made contact with a loan migration officer who again received our loan re-modification information. We have provided to Chase on 4 occasions their requested information and still no progress other than a foreclosure. We have been trying for 7 months straight to get this worked out and no success. How can this be legal that after all our attempts to make arrangements and submit all the information they requested, they can just take our home? I could see if we did not attempt, but when does it end? So now, we are looking at over $5,000 in additional fees if there is any hope of saving our home. Where is our protection?

Whatever you do never, never, never go to Chase for your mortgage. They let the prospective buyers of our home get to two days before closing, then called them saying they wanted another 10% down. This after repeated assurances that all was well with the loan application. This after sending them a commitment letter specifying the loan was approved and the terms spelled out! Just like that. No apologies. No explanation for the switch. The buyers could not come up with that much extra money. Chase told them they would work with them to get an FHA loan. Chase said they could make this happen fast since they had the paperwork already done. Well, it dragged out for weeks.
Chase could not have cared less and made no attempt to help the process along. This not only resulted in the loss of the deal on our home, but also the loss of a deal on a beautiful home we had contract on in North Carolina. So the prospective buyers of our home as well as we are now out thousands in fees to attorneys, inspectors, etc. This is a travesty. Chase was heartless, uncaring and unwilling to do anything to speed up the process. Even after they promised they could work an FHA loan, it did not come through. Shouldn't they have had to honor the commitment letter? Never, never go to Chase.

I did a loan modification with Chase through loss mitigation applied in April 2008. It was finally put through in the end of October 2008 and dropped my payment from $1,060 to $512 per month. Then not even 30 days later, they said they are putting my property tax escrow into my account despite emails and faxes. Even the lady at the property tax office I had an appointment with told them not to escrow it in, but they did and it brought my payment up to $946 per month. Now after only paying for four months, they sent me a new bill without any notice that my escrow payments went fron 36 months to 12 months. My new payment is now $1,318.11 - way more than we can afford and over $250 more than it was before.
We did loss mitigation just 6 months prior. My family lived in this house for over 30 years. My mother and father both died here and their ashes are in the backyard as they requested. If it wasn't for this, I would move and get away from Chase. Hopefully, some lawyer will get a class action suit against them for creating hardships to get money or homes from its customers, especially when they do things like this after the government gives them an incredible amount of cash to help against this kind of practice. Why is it they need more cash from their borderline illegal practices? If there's a lawyer who thinks he can help and get their fee from Chase in a suit, I will be more than willing to do so.

We too have had a really hard time getting anyone to help from Chase. We were approved for a loan modification in Oct 08. The agreement was, the past due amount of $4500 would be applied to the back end of our loan. We sent in a good faith payment in November 08 as instructed and started making our regular payments in December. We have made all payments on time but our credit report took a big hit! None of our payments were applied until Mar 09 and $1550 is sitting in a suspense fund, which they won't apply; they can't make partial payments!
Our credit report says we are over 6 months behind, we haven't made a payment since Dec 08, and that we owe over $7000. None of this is true and we have tried numerous times to speak to someone to straighten this out. Most people are insistent that we pay the $7000 or risk foreclosure. That's why we did the modification in the first place! We even signed legal documents to add the $4500 to our loan. It seems to us that Chase is trying to "double dip" from us. Maybe it's time to speak to a real-estate attorney. All we know is that we wish we had never done the modification. It's been nothing but a mess from the very beginning!

I too submitted all of my paperwork to Chase Mortgage for the loan modification program. Based on all criteria, I qualify for an interest rate adjustment. Two months later and not a word from Chase, I called and got the runaround. Instead of spending my life saving to stay in the home another few months before I lose it, I'm cutting my losses and I've stopped making payments. Do I feel guilty? Nope. After a reduction in workforce landed me in a lower paying job, I tried multiple times to work with Chase so I could continue to pay the entire principal of our loan with a reduced interest rate. They weren't interested.
Do I care that I'll lose my home? Nope. The house just appraised for $289,000 and I owe $400,000. Chase's choosing to not work with me could be the best financial thing that's happened since the recession hit. So what if my credit is wrecked for a bit. A few years of good payments and I could be back in an equivalent home for less than I owe on this one. That's a smart financial decision by my book.

In late February 2009, I went online, and the Chase Payment system said I owed a little over $3,700 so I paid the amount the Chase system said I owed, plus about $50 extra to principal. When I received my April statement saying that the payment had been returned and I now owed about $4,600, I logged on and there was a new message saying the external account had been closed, which it had (still has) not been.
I called in to find out what was going on. My account had been sent to the Foreclosure attorney on March 31st (3 weeks after I made the payment) and the customer service rep said that the payment was rejected because it was not the total due (even though the website won't accept a payment for less than it says is due) and to this, the customer service rep said it was because there are additional late fees. Now, because I'm in Colorado, I have to file an Intent to Cure with the County and they tell me that $7,100 is due to get my house out of foreclosure, $5,400 in payments and almost $1,700 in attorney fees and county fees, and the like.
During the course of this whole situation, I either get told that it's not Chase's fault or I need to do this to get it fixed. When I do what they tell me to do, I get told that I don't need to do that. I need to do something else or call someone else who never answers the phone and doesn't return calls. If I have to live in a cardboard box, I will never willingly deal with JP Morgan Chase again.

I got a charge on my account from my mortgage twice for the amount off $1400 but I got only $500 on my bank account. Chevy Chase processed the transaction and my account got overdrawn. I got 8 NSF fees for the amount of $35 each. I called Chevy Chase Call Center and the lady transferred me to special list named Nicole. I explained to her what happened and asked why they did this to customers. She said because I'm a value customer and have been with them since 1998, so Chevy Chase paid my mortgage company on my behalf. I asked her about my NSF fees to see if they could waive the fees since I'm their valued customer. The answer was no because NSF fees have not posted on my account yet.
I called on last Saturday. She told me to make a deposit today to clear up my account which I did and call back or go to the branch on Monday because those fees will post on my account on Monday. I asked her to put the note on my account so the other person would know what happened. Nicole said she would do it right away. I called on Monday, got disconnected twice and finally was able to speak with the lady named Margaret. I explained to her what happened with my account and asked to talk to customer relationship specialist as I'd been told to do.
Margaret told me "no". I asked her to take a look on my account so she could see the note and she put me on hold for about 5 min. Then she said, "I'm sorry, Mrs. **. I lost your account information. Can I have it again?" My name is not ** and if she took my issues seriously, then she should not lose my account info. She put me on hold again after I gave her my account # then she said, "I'm sorry but I cannot transfer you to customer relationship because of your NSF fees issue." I asked her then what could she do to help me. The answer was nothing. I asked to talk to her manager or supervisor. Then Margaret told me that they were not available to talk to me.
What kind of business do they run? I should have the right to talk to the manager. This bank just wants to take money from you; they don't care. Why did they authorize money to go through if I don't have enough funds to cover the balance? They could just charge me only one fee for the return item but they didn't. If they posted my mortgage after the other transaction, then I should get only one NSF fee, but I think they want to do it the other way so they can charge me money. I'm done with this bank and I will tell everybody that I know not to bank with them.

My husband and I initially contacted Chase in December 2008 regarding modifying our interest only loan. We did not receive any response or callback despite the numerous messages we left. In February, we were told that the laws were changing and that we had to fill out an application online for a modification, in which we did. In March, we faxed all our documents that were requested to Chase. To this day, we have not received a response. We have been calling almost every day to try and get some answers, everyday, a new person and different answers. We were told that an analyst was assigned to our case in January 2009, yet our application is still under review. We are now two months behind on our mortgage, something that we tried to avoid from happening. We are desperately looking for some assistance. It seems like we can't get it from Chase. This whole situation has been frustrating and it seems like the people at Chase could care less. We will soon be facing foreclosure, despite our efforts over five months ago.

I got a loan from Chase about 14 months ago. I was told I could pay online. When my first payment was due, I went online. They said they had no record of my account. Same thing happened when I called, only Loss Mitigation has my account and I had to fall behind before I could make a payment. Nobody can correct this problem because Loss Mitigation is a different department and if you call Chase, they will not let you talk to anybody unless you put in your account # and mine does not work. You can't send an email without first signing in with your account # but again, my information does not work (not name, property address, SSN or anything!).
I have just been blindly paying my mortgage as I have no access to receipts. (I pay through Western Union.) But now I can't file my 2008 taxes because they have not sent me any paperwork with my interest or any other info I need. Again, there is no way to contact them through phone or email without a loan number and again my information is not in their database! So I can't file my taxes now. And I thought them ruining my credit for forcing me to pay late was all I had to deal with! Try to contact them with no loan number! Press 0 as many times as you want and it just hangs up on you! There is no way to report a problem to them!

The odd thing is that they continually tell me not to contact anyone else. This is important, according to them. I received a letter from Chase stating they will no longer work on my modification due to the bankruptcy. I have contacted an attorney who says they can get a modification done for a fee $2000. This is ridiculous, loan modification can be done by anyone at no charge and the government is currently cracking down on the fees charged for loan modification. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don't have the money for the loan modification which should be done at no charge with Chase Bank!

I have been a Washington Mutual Mortgage customer for 9 years. Like lots of other taxpayers, I helped bail out WaMu. I received a small refund (about $50) due to over payments to my mortgage escrow account. Knowing WaMu had been bought by Chase, I took the check to a convenient Chase Bank on the main drag 2920 in Spring Texas near I45 (where I had banked when working in New Orleans). I do not have a Chase account and closed my last account years ago in good standing.
After acting like I was trying to get into Fort Knox and having 4 people inspect the $50 check (already signed by my wife, a big deal for them, even though the payee was me and was "or" her not "and"her), after 15 minutes, Chase told me to take the check to another branch 2 miles down the street which had WaMu service, because their "systems were not yet integrated". My lunch hour slipping away, I drove to the other branch. After 10 minutes of hemming and hawing, during which I became increasingly frustrated, Chase/WaMu agreed to cash the check "as a courtesy, even though it violated their policy."
I asked incredulously where I was supposed to take the check if not the bank on which it was written. I was told I should have taken the check to my "own bank." I complained to the head teller that I didn't want any "favors" and asked what could possibly be the reason for not cashing the check without delay. I complained that I had already spent 30 minutes between two Chase banks. The head teller responded, threatening me with, "Do you want it cashed or not?" I said that what I wanted was first to express my displeasure with the policy of not cashing checks labelled "WaMu" when Chase had bought them. After fooling around 10 more minutes, the teller said, "The system will not let me cash this check." I left angry and spent another 30 minutes traveling farther to my own bank (Woodforest) to cash the check.

I contacted Chase immediately after my husband lost his job in January. The loan is in his name and a request for them to speak to me had been mailed in October. After holding online for an hour, I was told that I needed to wait until the stimulus package was released in order to get some help. I called back in February and after holding for another hour, I was told that they could give me a modification on the loan. At this time I also had to send them a second letter that okay-ed them speaking to me as the loan was in my husband's name. I gave them all our information and was told that I would hear from someone in the Homeowners Assistance program within 30 days.
After 30 days and no call, I called back and held for another hour. I spoke with Kevin in their Jenny Mae team dept, who I also had to fax an okay to release information. This time they took more information and told me that I would receive something in the mail in order to start the modification process, and should not have to pay my mortgage from May 1 through August. I did not receive anything in the mail and called again. I again had to wait an hour and a quarter and (4x) had to fax over an okay for them to talk to me. I was told this time that it would take 8 hours for them to file the okay and they would not speak with me even with my husband's verbal okay until tomorrow.
I am totally disgusted with Chase. I wish they would just sell my loan at this point. I am going to go to a branch office and see if I can't get some satisfaction from them. I have never dealt with such a frustrating runaround when I am just trying to get help so that I don't lose my home.

In November 2008, I was laid off from my job due to a lack of work. I contacted Chase and was told I didn't qualify for any assistance since I was current with my payments, and had to be at least 90 days past-due. I began to borrow against my credit cards to pay my mortgage and stay current. In March, I called Chase and was transferred to many people until I finally got a representative who seemed to be on top of the Obama plan. He explained that there is an assistance plan and led me to Chase’s website. He assisted in downloading the correct form, the phone number to fax it in, and explained all the details.
I was told that once approved, the government would pay $1,500 to Chase and $500 to me to assist with the payment, as well as reimbursement for the payments I made while unemployed. The loan would be modified, and while this was taking place, there would be no late fees or negative credit reporting. I faxed in the application that day and obtained cash on my credit lines for the payments knowing it would be repaid once this plan was approved.
I continued to call and try and obtain updates to my situation. I was bounced to every department and no one had any information. I then spoke with a man in homeowner assistance and he explained the Forbearance program. I was told it would take 5-10 business days for approval, and the advantage to this plan is there are no late fees or negative credit reporting. I asked how long this plan was available and he said a few months. No one ever told me about this previously. Again, I waited and called and no one had any information. Finally, I was given the names of a case worker, a supervisor; I left several messages, and never received any return calls.
I called into collections, asked to speak with a supervisor and left a voice message. She returned my call within 10 minutes. After discussing my account, I was advised that basically everything I had been told previously was incorrect. She transferred me to their newly formed Fannie Mae department. I spoke with a representative who appeared to be the most knowledgeable of all. She also advised all the information I had received from Chase so far is incorrect. She said there have been plans as far back as November to assist me, and told me that the Forbearance plan may be the best; however, it is reported negatively to the credit bureaus.
So now I am out of money, have much more unsecured debt, and all this was for nothing since it was all based on misinformation. One advantage I do have is I have recorded most of my calls with Chase and documented names and SID numbers. I suggest to everyone that speaks with them, do the same. Also, I believe a class action suit should be filed against Chase for these actions. I have 11 days for resolution or my credit takes a huge hit.

I am trying to get a refund of the monies that I have paid my bank, Chase Manhattan, back in January in order to lock in a mortgage rate. The reason I am asking for a refund is that Chase stated that they would do an assignment for me; thus, saving me the mortgage tax. It turns out that they cannot do an assignment because they cannot find my original loan paperwork. Chase informed me of this after approximately 3 months of waiting for this assignment of the loan to go through. In addition, their closing costs continue to rise with each conversation that I have with them over the phone. They emailed me one good faith estimate in April for a loan that was applied for in January. The good faith estimate is not accurate as it is based on an assignment, not on a refinance which they are trying to do.
My last conversation with them was a week ago and they quoted me a price over the phone of $13,000, which includes 6 months of escrow costs. I was told that I would only need to prepay 3 months of escrow costs and I have an email stating this. Again they change their story with each and every conversation that I have with them. I was originally told that my total costs would be approximately $6,700 and now I am at $13,000. I also asked them to produce the note, as my current mortgage is with them, that states that I owe them this original mortgage debt to begin with. My request was blown off with some double talk, but they have yet to produce it.
Can you please assist me with getting my $750.00 back for my lock-in rate considering that they could not do my assignment because they cannot find the paperwork of the original loan? I have emails from them which show what I am stating to be true. I also want them to produce the loan note. My Chase loan officer is Christine ** **. Thank you.

I am writing in regards to my refinance through Chase. I am absolutely devastated as to what this has done to me. When I received notice, my previous mortgage through Chase was paid on Jan. 12th, 2009; I assumed all was done right. In late Feb., I started receiving calls that my previous mortgage was overdue. I immediately started trying to get this figured out. I have spent countless hours on the phone, faxed requests, and done everything in my power to fix the mistake that was not made on my part. I was told several times by several different people on several occasions this would be handled, that my credit would not reflect Chase' mistake and that my refund of the remaining payoff would be paid back to me in full without fees or late charges.
When I refinanced, my credit rate was 780 or so. For 33 years, I have taken great pride in my credit and have taken several measures to keep my great scores. I have never had a bad credit rate or default. Three weeks ago, I applied for a credit card and was denied. I have never been denied a credit card. Two weeks ago, my husband and I were trying to make a great investment on some property and due to the investment opportunity that it was, we were competing offers with several others. We were denied approval of credit due to my unpaid mortgage through Chase, we lost the deal. One week ago, I was issued our Commercial Vehicle Insurance renewal which went up $400 due to my recent bad credit. I have since shopped for a better rate and have been facing the same challenge, bad credit which equals bad Commercial Insurance rates. Needless to say, my credit rate is now 620 only due to my unpaid mortgage, Chase's mistake.
I finally received my remaining payoff check this week on 4/16/09 in the wrong amount. Instead of the amount of $403.10 that was due to me, I was issued a check for $268.83. I believe I was charged late fees and whatever else. I feel as if my identity has been stolen by Chase Home Mortgage. I am also very frustrated that I have paid you people several thousand dollars to do this to me in closing cost, recording fees, application fees, processing fees, etc. I demand that my issue be dealt with immediately. This has cost me more than money. It has cost me my sanity, my credit, commercial auto insurance, investment opportunity, and my future. This is what I am sending to Chase. I wish to email as many Chase individuals as possible to see how far my demands are met! Any emails out there? I can't seem to find anyone at Chase to complain to!

I called Chase to refinance my mortgage with them on 3-26-09. I spoke to Mike who said I needed $750.00 nonrefundable application fee to proceed. Mike said he sees that I have a Chase card, can put it on that and he did. My husband called the next day requesting to hold off on the charge because he wanted to think about it. The Chase card customer service said they could not remove the charge and was nonrefundable. In the meantime, I received the welcome package via email and read it. My husband had questions for Mike and asked him to call back the next day (and also to mail the package via mail to look over).
We received the package about 6 days later and the numbers are different in the package. I checked the package in my email again and the information was gone. I called the processor and asked her where the package went that was online and in my email. She said it is only temporary and a hard pack had been mailed. The information was different and Mike apparently didn't want us comparing the two packages. It was somehow retrieved. We asked Mike why we were paying a point and he said all big banks charge a point. He did not take the time to tell us that the rate would be slightly higher without a point, which only made a difference of $30.00 in our payment. I have trust issues with this company and I think we should get our deposit back.
When my husband called Mike on the 27th of March, he should have put a stop on the appraisal until we felt comfortable with it. The appraisal was done via drive-by, so no appointment was made to look at the inside of the property. I think the $750 nonrefundable fee is just a bait to keep you in the loan processing with them since most people don't have $750 to throw away. I ended up talking to my local bank that does not charge an upfront application fee and am paying no point. My husband called Mike ** today to ask him why an appraisal was done without his approval. He left a message to call him. My husband called back at 6:51 this evening and he accidentally got Mike on the phone because when my husband asked who it was, he said Mike. When he asked Mike who? He hung up on my husband.
Chase also sent me a new credit card for what reason I don't know because the application fee was charged on the old one we had not used for awhile. Chase is an extremely poor customer service company. I'm sorry I called them to refinance my home. It was an expensive mistake.

Chase has the worst customer service of any loan company I have ever dealt with. Their phone system is impossible to maneuver and their website is worse. I have tried repeatedly to set up a user name for my mortgage account but it continually pops up errors. When I call and finally get to speak to someone, their excuse is always "The website is down." So trying to rectify my problem has become even more of a problem.
My complaint is with their impound services. My mortgage was sold to Chase. I would never have obtained a mortgage from them in the first place. I have never been late with a mortgage payment in the 25 years I've been paying one, I have excellent credit, therefore I am a good customer for Chase. This is the first mortgage company who did not contact me when my impounds fell short, allowing me the opportunity to pay the shortfall. Instead, my mortgage payment went up over $200 a month and I only found out when I received my next month's mortgage statement.
I called Chase to get the shortfall amount so that I could pay it off and was given different answers by every person I spoke with. I was routed to the insurance department who in turn routed me to the tax department. Our conversations prompted me to call my city and county for requested information and when I called back with the information, I had different Chase reps who had to look up my account and start all over again. They then began giving me different information from the first reps I spoke with. I was also cut off many times while on hold, which everyone knows how frustrating and irritating that can be.
I never received an Escrow statement from them or I might have known there was a shortfall. When I requested another, I was told I could access it on their website. I tried to set up a User ID on their website to access my information but it requires a banking account number. I don't bank with them. When I used my mortgage loan number instead, I get an error message. So, I called them again, only to be told the website must be down. I tried another day and got the same message.
As for the information I've obtained by speaking to Chase reps in trying to get a breakdown of my impounds, one told me they required "wind" insurance and were impounding two months payments in advance. When I pointed out I have never been late with a payment and that I had never been subject to this with previous mortgage companies, I got a "Well, that's our policy" response. When I called back after speaking with my city and county representatives, the Chase rep looked at my account and said there was not a two-month advance impound and that I did not have wind insurance, but that they had paid my special assessment. They are not supposed to pay my special assessment. They told me I would have to call the tax department. I hung up frustrated and angry. I'm still cooling my jets. I will try it all again next week.

I have been attempting to refinance my current mortgage which I have with Morgan Chase. I applied on January 2, 2009. All personal documents Chase requested were forwarded without delay, and I paid a $395 fee to lock in my rate for 90 days. The first set of documents (good faith estimate) had multiple errors. When I informed the person processing the loan, I was told I was sent the wrong loan package. The second attempt included my taxes being escrowed and homeowner's insurance being included in the closing. The consultant was told when I initially applied that I pay both out of pocket and did not wish them included in the process. The paperwork also included my home equity line of credit which was not to be included and remain open. This was addressed when I submitted my initial application.
Multiple emails have been sent and phone calls made to address the issues, yet the errors go uncorrected. I requested to review the updated good faith estimate to ensure it was correct, but I was told that it could not be sent to me until a closing date has been set. This is peculiar since I received the error-ridden copy without a closing date. I have called several times only to be on hold for an excess of 30 minutes before hanging up the phone.
As I am typing, someone from Mortgage Support picked up my call (after 25 minutes). Last but not least, a closing date was set via a phone message without speaking to me to determine if I would even be available. I called Chase to inform them that I did wish to set a closing date without seeing the loan papers. I received no return phone call. In their defense, it was the Easter weekend. I asked hypothetically that if she were to pay late enough where I were to pay and that resulted in a double payment, would I be able to get my payment refunded? Their answer was "Yes, no problem"! Wrong! Later that year, instead of just allowing the payment to be late, I chose to pay the mortgage to get it in on time. I have sent them my bank statement no less than 4 times (and have to send it a 5th time tomorrow) in an attempt to prove to them that they have my money (because the money sitting in their account is clearly not enough). I'm surprised that these characters don't forget to breathe! It has been 7 months. Really?

Chase has the absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with. If you are considering taking out a mortgage, please think twice. We have 2 homes, one with National City Mortgage and one with Chase. We have had nothing but positive interaction with National City Mortgage and nothing but harassment and trouble with Chase. I guess if you like dealing with non-English speaking customer representatives in foreign countries, be my guest. We are receiving collection calls from Chase for an account that is not late and that they have the full payment in their possession, but will not apply.
Background: In Feb. 2008, our homeowners insurance went up and the payment into our impound account increased. We have a bi-weekly debit from our checking and actually make 2 extra payments per year. We were not aware of the increase to our payment until March when we started receiving collection calls. The Chase representative on the phone was rude and condescending. We tried to explain that there must be a mistake considering we had an impound account and bi-weekly payment. But they did not understand and continued to threaten reporting to the credit bureau if I did not agree to pay $2,754.41 by credit card or check by phone immediately. Being skeptical, I would not consider paying a stranger who called me and requested a written statement. I admit I was angry and hung up the phone.
On March 30th, I received the statement and called Chase to see what could be done to correct the problem. It was my intent to pay the balance due ($82.96) by phone. I was informed that they could not accept a partial payment and I would have to Western Union the funds ($82.96). At that time, they had $2,172.24 of my money sitting in a suspense fund awaiting the balance of $82.96. For some reason, they cannot apply a partial payment and had to have full amount. I spoke with 5 different customer care representatives (Jamie, Tim, Mabel, Kyle and finally Rose) and was cut off 6 different times having to re-dial. I spent a total of 4 hours on the phone attempting to get this cleared up. Finally, I was told they would not report me late if I mailed 2 checks for $82.96, each one for the difference owed for March and one for the difference between what our impound account paid and what was due for April. I actually thought I had cleared this up.
On April 10, 2009, again I am receiving threading collection calls, even though they have cashed my 2nd check for $82.96 and have had my $2,172.24 in the suspense account since 1 April, which makes up the total payment due of $2,255.20. They are not applying that to my April Payment and insisting that I am late. I was told that it was an auto dialer and when someone answered, they were instructed to try to collect the debt. I do not know how to make them go away.
In all my years paying mortgages, I have never had a problem such as this. I did not take out my mortgage with Chase; my lender sold my loan to them. I also had one of my credit cards with Washington Mutual sold to Chase and the interest went from 8% to 18%. When I contacted Chase to see about lowering the payment, I was told they were not even discussing this with customers. In both cases I did not seek out Chase, nor would I have gone with them. Is there nothing to protect consumers from these parasites? We are spending trillions of our tax payer dollars to bail out this **, but who’s helping us?

Chase has failed to respond to my repeated request for a loan modification. They were initially contacted in January 2009 and although I provided and faxed requested information on 5 different occasions, they did not send the request to an analyst until March 2009. Additionally, their system will not allow for a partial payment (approximately 75%) of the mortgage due. Attempts to contact analyst Donna ** (617) 437-5671 ext ** are/were fruitless as she never answers the phone and the message box is always full. Meanwhile, my credit is suffering because Chase is dragging their feet on the loan modification and will not accept anything other than a full payment.

As a realtor in Tucson, AZ, I have never had such a horrible experience as the one I have had with Chase. Of course, with any transaction, there are situations that arise. But dealing with Chase has been an eye opener. My clients have banked with Chase for years and insisted on going with them for their mortgage. We put an offer in on a home that was bank-owned. The bank that owned it was, yes, Chase. Did this make it any easier? No. In fact, the original contract date was February 7, 2009. The sellers' agent and myself had everything completed by February 20th, and were just waiting on underwriting.
It is now April 10, 2009 and I am getting the same response - we are almost done. Well my clients are almost done too. They had to jump through hoops with the loan department and have stated that they now don't care when it closes since Chase doesn't seem to care. These are first-time home buyers and it has been a horrible experience. It takes three to four days to get a call back from anyone or even an email response. The seller (Chase) has even threatened to charge my clients $100 per day for being late and even cancel the deal. But it is Chase who is taking their time. The loan officer then had the nerve to ask me to send more business her way. Not a snowball's chance in hell! It makes realtors look bad when they are put in these positions with their clients. My clients come first. Don't deal with Chase for your home loan, unless you enjoy pain!

They have had my escrow account screwed up since 2006. Now I am paying over $120 more a month because they proclaim my escrow account is once again negative $200. This all started when they claimed I didn't have homeowner's insurance. After proving them wrong in Dec. of 2007, USAA, my Insurance company, straightened out that mess. They are still charging me outrageous amounts for a payment. If I were to get a loan of the same type with the original purchase amount, 30-year fixed loan, and with my current taxes and insurance rates, it's only around $757, not $890. I call and call. They never give me an answer other than my escrow account is $200-$500 negative. But at $500, it's still not a charge of $110.00 a month. They keep compiling late fees and inspections fees that I didn't approve.
I have the BBB involved with this matter since Oct. of 2008. With no resolution, they just send letters stating they called x amount of times and we never answered. They have a cellphone #. They have my new address because the home listed I'm not currently living in. It's amazing how I receive the statements for the payment but none of the important documents they supposedly send. I did turn this over to some Federal currency company today. It's getting frustrating, with no results. They are even blowing off the BBB now. This matter needs to be resolved.

Chase Mortgage services are a joke. I have a buyer asking for $100K loan on a $225K house (his). Valued at $250K, it's paid off. He has perfect credit and the loan is approved, but these morons can't seem to get it closed and have missed 2 scheduled closing dates already. Papers were signed and submitted in February. My house is empty and need to go off in 2 days based on their second promise to close today. The buyers are pissed and they scratch their head and pass the buck. Never again will I deal with these scatter brains, and it's no wonder the banking system here is so screwed up.
I have sold all my household goods at less than they are worth, so I can be a caregiver for my mother about to be released from the hospital to go to her home to die. My siblings can't keep going back and forth so I've made the decision to do that 100% of the time until she dies. I'm done here and if Chase fouls this up much more, the buyer will walk and I have a house sitting empty with no buyers. This was a Grade A deal for them to close, not the crap they've been buying for years. If I knew I could sue, I would.

I have been asked to write yet another hardship letter. In truth, the only hardship we have had for the last year and more is Chase's refusal to allow us to pay our mortgage. Our only liability is this house. This hardship(?) is solely due to the actions and inaction of various Chase Home Finance HAD employees. We were quite ready and able to start making our payments again early in 2008 but were prevented doing so by the HAD.
As I have said ongoing for over a year now, we had some glitches. They were, within 2 months as I promised, overcome. It was a short term issue and the HAD made it into this whole huge nasty mess all by themselves. When we had a workout in place with the ERD in June of 2008, all it took was one woman from HAD to set it back to square one. And that one woman's actions created a snowball effect that brings us to present day.
At the moment, we are dealing with significant lessening of income due to the economy but still have enough revenue to support the $2500 monthly payments I have suggested even in a bad month.
We have not escrowed money; that would have been silly. We kept trying to make payments to Chase but were told again and again that we were not allowed to do that and that the monies would be returned to us if we did. Instead, we have paid off other bills and significantly reduced our debt to our second mortgage/credit line with GMAC while Chase kept refusing our payments.
We have paid off our car, and we have made some much needed repairs to the house (septic system and yard repair $9,000 in May/June 2008). This means that we will not have massive amounts of funds available to give your company at the outset, but we will indeed be able to start with the payments suggested at the time suggested and go forward from there.
This house is not only our single liability, it is also our major tax exemption as a full 2/3 of it is used as office space for the medical practice. With the event of not having been allowed to make these payments to our mortgage, we have incurred a great deal of tax debt that will have to be dealt with in the near future. As I have said before, the only debt we have is this house. All things considered, I think that we are doing pretty well if we only have a mortgage payment, utilities, business and personal expenses. We carry no major credit cards. We have no car payments. We have no debt other than this building that is our home and office, which is in sad need of major repair.
How many people do you personally know with 0 credit card debt who have only a mortgage to pay? And yet, here we sit.

I have had my mortgage with Chase for close to its entirety. I'm always current. I called about refinancing and was quoted a rate that would save me a month. I also asked what my total costs would be and Jason ** told me. The savings fit in the parameter to recoup that amount in about two years. I told him to lock me in and send the paperwork. He told me he could only lock me in if I applied on the phone and paid a $750 non-refundable application fee. I said, "I am already with Chase. You have all my information." He said that didn't matter. I reconfirmed the amount he said it would cost me and the credit I would get back on the $750 when the loan closed. I proceeded to forward with him.
However, when the actual loan application paperwork showed up for my signature, Jason had not informed me of the other items I would be paying for which doubled the amount he told me on the phone and in an e-mail. He even admitted that a lot of people get confused thinking the original amount he quoted me would be all my out of pocket. But then when I e-mailed saying I wasn't going to sign and submit this application and that I wanted my $750 back because he didn't inform me not only of my total costs (ever heard of RESPA, Jason?) nor I realized my APR, I have not been able to get a response from him or his supervisor's supervisor, Jeff **. It looks like Chase is up to its dirty old tricks again. Anyone else get this scam?

My son had a business three years ago and I was fooled by the landlord. We had a retail service (bill payment) with Chase. It turns out that Chase has sitting $40,000 floating money. When a money is withdrawn from the service company, money is not there at that moment when Chase does not collect the money until they are ready like night deposits and ATM. So this is why there is a stamp on the money insufficient funds. But the money is there. No one listens to us. Chase is ripping us off. They force us out of business. The business manager worked with the bank since he got a commission every time he opened a loan. If a business does not have the money, how does a bank give a loan? Something is wrong in Demark.

Chase Mortgage is run by a bunch of lying thieves. Without my knowledge, they took three consecutive mortgage payments and applied them to property taxes of which I was less than two years in arrears. They never informed me of this and counted all these payments as late. Once I finally discovered what was happening, I made arrangements to make several double payments to catch up which I made as arranged. No matter how much I sent them, it was never enough to become current. Every time I called them, they quoted me different amounts. One person would tell me I was completely current and then two weeks later, they would call and tell me I was three months late. This went on for over a year when I decided to sell the house at a bargain price just to get them off my back.

Chase purchased our 1st & 2nd mortgages about 6 months after our original loans were made. It was the third transfer of our mortgage. Our interest rate was 6.125% on a 2-yr. ARM. with a total very manageable payment of $932/mo. on $140k. We knew that we needed to lock in a rate or refinance before it went adjustable but we were always denied for debt-to-income ratios. In Feb. 2007, I got injured at work and went on Labor & Industries for several months at 62% of my income. Our mortgage had started adjusting in Jan. 2007 and moved sharply higher every 3 months until the interest rate was 10.125% and our payment was just above $1600/mo. We made it the rest of 2007 by not paying anything (credit cards, loans, etc.) but our mortgage and borrowing money from family.
In Dec. 2007, Chase offered us a deal to lower our payment and get out of the ARM loan that had financially destroyed us. They called it a loan modification. We accepted the offer in desperation to do anything. The offer was for 9.125% with a payment of $1462/mo. but in desperation, you will do anything and we signed the paperwork. Shortly after signing (Feb. 2008), they sent us a notice transferring our 2nd mortgage to Dyck O'Neal, a collection company. They sold off what would have been their loss if the house foreclosed and set us up with another payment we could not afford. Chase took advantage of our situation and even exploited another company to take the loss after setting us up with a loan we could not afford to pay.
