None of my payments for the last year were applied correctly. I have autopay set up on my home loan since Aug 2019. I got a notice in the mail that I am behind on my payments. Turns out, 100% of my payment was being applied to my escrow or interest. I have paid a hefty $2 towards my principal in 1 year?!?! WTF! I get automated messages from their collections department, I try to return the call and no one ever answers after being on hold for 2 hrs. I tried scheduling a call back and they never called me back.

Misapplied extra principal payments. We have asked the Department of Justice to look into the business practices of Citizens One Home Loans. The reason is that we earmarked very clearly how extra principal payments should be applied and Citizens applied it how they wanted, and to their advantage. It took hours on the phone with them trying to clear this up. We wonder if other Citizens One customers are not catching the devious actions of Citizens One and losing tons of money. If Citizens is doing this to thousands of customers, Citizens is making millions of dollars illegally.

Sold to them by Franklin American about 3 months ago. I set up auto-draft immediately and this month on the 13th received a statement showing where the computer never processed the payment and they had loan mitigation information posted on the bottom. This is the only thing I have ever paid late and immediately jumped online to make a one-time draft payment, well 3 business days later that payment still has not been processed. I try to call and the only option I get is credit counseling department and there is a 2 hour hold time. I only get through to one person and she hangs up on me almost right after she answered. This is a nightmare.

Unfortunately, many of us whose mortgages are held by this criminal entity never chose to have a relationship with them, as our mortgages were "sold" to them by Franklin American without consultation or notice. Nonetheless, even a predatory agency like Citizens One should at least have a functional web site and/or answer the phone. Add my name to the list of complainants and negative reviewers who have endured hold-times of in excess of 2 hours before being disconnected. One reviewer here wondered aloud why there hasn't been a class action lawsuit against Citizens One. Whether or not my own grievances with them may be legally actionable, if ever there IS a class action suit, I'll gladly support it in whatever way I can. In the meantime, I have filed complaints with my state's Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, and the Attornies General in both Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Additionally, and because companies like Citizens One, which financial advisors and media outlets now openly describe as "vultures", or "vulture-investors" have a great deal of latitude to practice their predation, I shall be writing to my Federal representatives to propose a law prohibiting or restricting the sale of mortgages without permission or input from the consumers.

My primary residence is with Navy Federal and with no hassle they gave us 3 months deferred payments!! I will always bank with big banks from this point forward, cheesy banks are just that... cheesy. I will be refinancing that house with Navy very soon and getting a better APR in the way.

There should be some (minus star) negative rating, even I don't want to give them single star! Unfortunately I have a Auto Mortgage with Citizen One. Because of recently evolving COVID-19, I called on 24th March talked with a representative and finally settled down and extended for 3 months ( Mar-May) mortgage payment. But right after that, they took their payment as it was auto payment. From then I called and spoke with different representative regarding that matter several times. They didn't give me any proper answer even one of representative today transferred my call to someone and I have been waiting more than 1 hour and call dropped. I have my all call records.

I am right now jobless from last 2 weeks because of COVID-19 Stay at Home and company is not paying me anything. I have now only around $45 balance in my account!!! I don't know how I will handle this critical situation with less money. Please take an action immediately regarding that matter.

As others have stated, my home loan was recently sold to Citizens One by Franklin Financial. We rarely check our mail and started getting recorded phone calls from Citizens One to call them at a certain number. Then we start getting passed due notices in the mail for 2 months but the first month was paid to Franklin and the next month wasn't due until the 15th. We have attempted to call Citizens One about a dozen times and the recording says high call volumes and no one ever picks up. We have sat on hold for over an hour at least 6 times. What prompted me to write this review is as I type this, we currently have 3 phones all on hold with Citizens One and all for over an hour, and 2 for 1.5 hours so far. Wife' cell, my cell, and our landline. This is a joke and Citizens One is a joke.

This is my first experience with them, and I know there is a lot going on in the world, but do not constantly call my house with an automated message saying to call and when we do call no one ever picks up the phone. No customer service whatsoever. I am now going to look into refinancing just so I don't have to deal with this 3rd rate bunch. Stay away from Citizens One. You have been warned. There isn't an option for zero or negative stars or that's what I would rate them at this point.

A lot of us don't have control on who buys our mortgages, but I would certainly stay away from this company if at all possible. With the current Covid 19 pandemic in this country, many lenders are offering deferral. This company's "share holders," are not offering any such assistance during this crisis, nor are anticipating doing so. They are offering to not report any late payments to credit agencies as well as a possible forbearance for 3 months. If I cannot make my next monthly mortgage payment now, why would they think that I can make up 3 months worth of payments in 3 months after not working that time? They suggest to then talk to a "specialist," who would then discuss other options that I assume would be an additional loan, burying their customers further in debt. This feels extremely predatorial. I don't know what else to say. They should be ashamed of themselves!

Hopefully, business will be non-problematic. My rating has been moved from 1 to 2 stars.

Original Review: Apparently, in Feb/2020, Franklin American Mortgage company decided to sell my perfectly functioning Home loan account to Citizens One Home Loans. As of this date, March 19, 2020, registration of my Account on Citizens One Website is impossible and 3 phone contact attempts daily at a.m and/or p.m., since Feb results in recordings stating high volume calls and directing me to the non-functional Website. On two occasions the recording said 'you will receive a callback in 14 minutes and the second time; you will receive a callback in 28 minutes.' There's no callback from Citizens One. This is all about them and keeping cheap for them and I have no choice in where my loan goes. I would pick zero stars, but I don't know if this system allows you to. My home loan was sold to Citizens One by Franklin Mortgage over a year ago. From the beginning it has been my impression that this company is not interested in caring for its customers. The mortgage isn't due until the 15th but if not received by the 1st, they send a billing for the next payment with added charges and a double payment due. Then when the payment is received by the due date, they send out a second billing for the single payment due. They just sent out Escrow shortages, mine was north of $1,100 dollars. They always have an explanation for why their business practices are what they are, but at the end of every conversation the impression is, "It's what we do, like it or not."

As I read down thru these reviews they are all eerily similar. Mine is similar as well. Long story short my loan was sold to this bank and when I got the letter in the mail explaining all of this to me I immediately put in action a refinance. This bank has ALWAYS had a horrible reputation. I have only paid 1 payment and luckily since I have a VA loan after 6 months I can do what is called a VA IRRRL loan. Paperwork is already started. Long story short they cant seem to mail my tax check to my local authority here in PA.

My tax agent here doesn't accept electronic deposits and I have explained this to them 100 times or so. What did they do? Send it electronically. When I asked, "If you can recall the check," the idiot on the phone literally hung up on me. So I called back and eerily I got a completely different story. I was then told it was mailed. Taxing authority still doesn't have it in PA. At this point I don't care 1 bit. They can take the house. Personally I don't want it. After my 6th payment I am gone to PNC Bank. As soon as I opened my mailbox and saw that my loan was bought by Citizens One I knew immediately I would be refi. with another bank. Their reputation is absolutely horrible and always has been. So now they lost 1249.91 of my escrow money that is gone in the wind.

The customer rep told me the living trust isn't valid because my father died. I get a different person every time I call and none of them seem to know anything. The story changes on a daily basis from yes, we have the paperwork to no, we don't have the paperwork. Citizens One accepted the February house payment, but applied it to the principal and then charged late fees saying the February payment wasn't made. I called in multiple times and each time there was no record of my previous calls and when asked for other alternatives they stated to send it in via postal mail. When asked to be transferred to a manager the customer service reps would either hang up or send me to the phone tree again where I would wait on hold for another service rep. My car loan's first payment was SEPT 30, 2019, I paid online and set up auto pay, got a letter stating auto pay enrolled effective 11/30/2019. My due date is the 30th of every month. So I paid my Oct bill and when Nov came I did not paid since I was enrolled in auto pay well on 12/03/19 I noticed no payment has went through yet for my 11/30 payment so I checked Citizens One website did not show anything pending. I was nervous so I called Citizens One and spoke to this guy. He stated to me that I was past due and needed to make payment ASAP, told him that I'm enrolled in autopay effective 11/30. He said no it is effective December so I told him how misleading that was and made a payment.

So guess what? The next day my auto pay went through, I was upset because now I'm overdrawn at the bank. I called citizen one and got, "Oh so sorry about this," their solution was they can mail me check and that will take 7-10 days....so you're telling me that my bank account is going to be overdrawn for over a week umm no. So I wasn't happy. I called my bank and they totally understand and since one of the payments was still pending was able to kick it back. Problem solved!! I called citizen one back and explained to cancel the check my bank is handling this they agreed and that was that. So what do I get in the mail a week later that check, I ignored it did not cash it. So here comes my 12/30/19 payment coming up. I assuming auto pay is going to pay, so as of 1/6/2020 no payment drawn. I go online and they show a payment on 12/30 and reversal of payment. WHAT THE HECK.

SO I called again and no one can tell me why so I explained last month's headache, so I made a complaint, spoke to Sue and she like so I see we have a case started. I said, "Yeah what Can I help you with?" So I was like what does my case state. She had no info so much for a case. Anyways I told them to disable my auto pay. I have no faith in them. I will make my own payments. This company does not know their head from their **. So I will handle my own payments starting this month and hopefully can move my auto loan in the future to someone else and will not do business with them again.

Beware. Citizens One sends out advertisements for so called "prequalified" personal loans and is guilty of false advertisement. This is because they have no intention of actually lending any money. They are basically running a scam to gain your financial information. I received one of these prequalified invitations to apply for a loan at a certain low interest rate, which I should have qualified for because my credit is excellent. I was initially approved for a loan under $14,000. However, the interest rate was considerably higher than what was advertised (bait and switch scam). I should have known then that something wasn't right. However, I continued and spoke with a customer service agent who walked me through the steps of signing a promissory note, truth in lending act, and linking my bank account for disbursement of funds and so that my payment could be deducted from my checking out.

The last thing I heard from them was a missed cell phone call that went to my voice mail concerning verification of the loan to see if it was really me who applied. Then all communication with Citizens One ceased. I received no emails and no funds were ever deposited to my account. You can't contact the verification department so I called customer service only to be told by some of the rudest employees I have ever encountered that they have changed their mind and have decided to turn down the loan. And here is the real kicker... They refuse to tell me why! They said a rejection letter will be sent out in about a month.

So how much sense does this actually make? Why is it an acceptable business practice to approve a loan, stop communicating with the customer, and then turn the loan down with no notice? Also, my credit score is in the 740s with an excellent and well established payment history, I make good money, and I even have a mortgage with Citizens One, which I am always on time with my payments. I wasn't asking for a lot of money and the terms were short. I should have been the ideal candidate for this loan but was turned down anyway after first being approved. I also see that there are numerous accounts from others online who have fallen victim to this same scam. If you see any of these advertisements in the mail from Citizens One, THROW THEM AWAY!

Citizens One has the responsibility to cease with the publication of such false advertising, to engage in more ethical business practices, and to make better and more informed decisions when it comes to approving personal loans. Because of this recent fiasco with Citizens One, I am currently seeking to refinance my mortgage with another lender because I believe that if a company cannot properly handle personal loans, they most assuredly cannot manage an escrow.

One month, while calling to have the payment corrected Again....my husband had to explain to a nice lady there how a payoff amount is calculated. In the past 3 months we have paid off this loan instead of another with higher interest just so we do not have to deal with the aggravation each month. I am sure it will be a long wait for the deed and 100+ from escrow.

Everything about this company’s construction loan process is horrible. You aren’t kept in the loop on anything and you are lied to throughout the whole process, including what your payment will be. The disclosure we signed at closing stated one payment amount, but in reality, it’s going to be about $400 more than that amount for the “interest only” first year of the construction loan. We banked on what they told us at closing and now it’s going to cost us about $3200 more than we budgeted for. We have been long time Citizens customers but we will be leaving the bank altogether after this horrific experience. I would NEVER recommend them.

Lies about rates using "Find my Rate" tool. Unlike other refinancing banks like ELFI or SoFi where you "Find My Rate"-> Choose a rate -> Apply for that rate and get offered THAT EXACT RATE, Citizens One gives you nice low rates using that tool but then right before clicking Submit on your application, they tell you your rate is WAY higher than they initially offered (mine went from 4.13 to "from 4.63 - 9.68"). Not even close to what they offered before, even though they claim to do the same soft pull in both cases.

Citizens One Mortgage started servicing my home loan & all was fine until my loan payment increased due to an escrow shortage. My payment was set up on autopay through my bank & before I could revise the autopay payment to the increased amount my bank sent a payment for the original payment amount. I realized this two days after the low payment was sent so I figured how much more I needed to add to make up the difference between my previous payment and the new payment. That amount came to $92 so I sent an additional $100 to cover the difference.

About two weeks later I received a letter from Citizens One stating that my loan payment was past due. I also received a refund check of $100. I called customer service and was told that they do not accept payments that are not at least the full payment amount. I explained that I sent the extra $100 because my bank had already sent a payment that was $92 short. They just said that they don’t accept payments that are less than the payment amount so that’s why my $100 was refunded. I said well what about the payment that was $92 short. She said that if I made a payment for the balance owed she would make sure they didn’t refund that payment too. So I gave her my credit card info to cover the $92 balance. She ran it and said all was good and that the issue was resolved. She also stated that her system was acting up and that it didn’t give her a confirmation number but that it had posted and was fine.

Well, a week later she calls & leaves a voicemail that the payment didn’t go through so I needed to call them and make the payment again. That was on a Friday afternoon and I was unable to call back before they closed that day and of course customer service isn’t open on weekends. The next day I received a notification from my credit monitoring service that Citizens One reported that I missed a payment! WTH?

When I called about getting the $100 refund I asked the lady how long Citizens One had been servicing mortgages because they didn’t seem to have very much experience and that of all the mortgages I’ve had (which is dozens as a real estate investor) I’ve never had a servicer not accept partial payment to add to a short payment. She said she wasn’t sure but that she could transfer me to someone that could answer that question. I declined her offer. This company is terrible!! And because they took over the servicing I did not choose them. If you have a choice DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

We accidentally made a duplicate payment in the month of June and working thru the process has been a total nightmare. I was told a refund check was cut and mailed on July 5th. I made several calls leading up to our next payment due date that was approaching on July 23rd. I had never received the check. They had "escalated" my case on July 22nd. I had suggested just applying the extra payment toward July at this point. On June 26th I get the refund check. It's dated July 16th and postmarked for July 22nd. So July 5th was a lie along. I had been even checking my DECEASED neighbor's mail to make sure I hadn't been missing something for NEARLY A MONTH!!

It is now July 30th and after several more calls to the case manager with NO return call, I proceed to put the check in our bank account. After all, I'm now several days past due! When I get off work I call the regular customer service rep and the automated account info says the next payment isn't due until August. WTH?!?! So I wait on hold...again!!! The help desk rep says, "Yeah, looks like they went ahead and just credited the extra payment toward the month of July and stopped payment on the check." So now that damn check is going to the returned, funds deducted and a penalty on our account. Words can NOT express how much I loathe this company. They are worse than freaking Comcast!! Just had my loan bought by these incompetent jokers 2 months ago. They had their collections department call me to collect a payment that was already made on time as usual. I jumped through every hoop they asked. Took time off of work to meet with my bank manager to compile a bank statement a canceled check with their endorsement on it, faxed it all to them (at first they did not want to accept the canceled check from my bank as "well they can be forged and we don't know if it is fake or not"). Many follow up phone calls. Finally received a call where they informed me that it was all taken care of and I should receive a revised statement in the mail. Well that never came. What did come is a collections phone call stating that they have not received the payment in question and trying to get me to make a payment over the phone. Tried to explain all of the above to the person on the phone but he said there is no record of this.

Called customer service again on the phone and now they tell me that it is still under investigation and no time frame to when it will be resolved. Again, customer service stated that there is no record of the previous conversation that it was over and done. This company and / or the people are simply incompetent or, doing this on purpose for their own gain. So now, I find that I have to pay this company this August hoping they won't lose my payment again. I am going to purchase a phone call recorder now so I can record all of their phone calls since they don't have the technology, skill set or competence to manage that system. Not to mention performing their most basic function. Cashing a payment check; without knowing where they put the money!!

My husband procured a loan through a car dealership to finance his new Jeep. Although archaic, payments made through their "redirected" website went fine. The Jeep was purchased in December of 2015. All went along fine as long as we did not need to contact them for anything. On May 20th of 2019 my husband was swept up in a motor vehicle accident that began in the oncoming lane and entered into his lane. The vehicle was officially totaled by our insurance company on 5-21. Then began the apparently arduous and impossible task of getting a letter of guarantee (LOG) from Citizens so our insurance company could send a check. They requested one on 5-21, 5-22, 5-30, 6-4, and received nothing. They called on 6-6 and 6-10 and there was no answer and no voicemail to leave a message.

My husband and I called 2 times in late May and early June, the first call on hold for over 45 minutes and the second not quite as long. Still no one seemed to know what the status of the loan was or if payment was coming but they insisted they had sent the LOG. The insurance company tried to get the LOG again on 6-13. Still nothing came. I called again on 6-14 and after the obligatory hold time representative number three directed me to the total loss department! Where they had been all of this time is a mystery to all since neither the insurance company nor I had ever spoken to this department as we were unaware it existed.

I informed the woman there of the issues we had been having and told her that my Insurance company was done trying to contact them and that she needed to call them since they actually answer their phones. She placed the call and corresponded with an adjuster via email and the LOG was finally given to the insurance company. The check was mailed 6-17. All the while we are getting bills for a car payment for a car that we know is totaled, the insurance company knows is totaled, and Citizens knows is totaled and has known since 5-21. Their suggestion is to just keep making car payments until it is all settled. No thank you, I am not "lending" them my money until they figure it all out as the incompetence is theirs and theirs alone. We also have GAP insurance through them, we have yet to begin what I am sure will be another debacle once that comes into play.

We are now at 7-8-19. The automated system stills shows a balance on the loan of over $15,000. No credit for the $13,000+ check. I called my insurance company today to see if the check had cleared their bank. NOTHING. The insurance company called Citizens back since the check was sent three weeks ago (I gave her the number to the total loss dept.) and had still not been processed.

After lots of confusion and head scratching at Citizens and being put on hold, and having to call the insurance company back they still have no answer. They cannot find the check. They are currently on a scavenger hunt of sorts and will call her back tomorrow with, hopefully, an answer. In the meantime Citizens is still thinking I should just keep making car payments as usual. We are 7 weeks in, still no end in sight. The insurance company will put stop payment on the check tomorrow if it can't be located. The next will go certified, return receipt, although I am not sure that will help these people. They couldn't get out of their own way if their life was in danger. AVOID.

We purchased a home and used Citizens One for the mortgage. Two days before closing interest rates dropped significantly so I called my mortgage broker to see if we could get the lower rate. My nephew is a mortgage broker in another state and he told us there is something called a drop down and the broker has the power to drop the rate, so I asked. Our rate was at 4.50% and rates dropped to 4.25%. I was told he could only go as low as 4.375%.

At that time I told him if he didn't lower to the 4.25% I would close on the loan and simply refinance when we relocated to the new home in another state. When I inquired, the local bank in our new state of Louisiana had given me a 4.00% rate, so I went with them. We started the process when we settled in and promptly we got a call from the broker very upset that we were refinancing, saying he was going to lose his commission. When I reminded him of our conversation he grumbled and hung up.

So...fast forward to the new closing. We closed the refi on the 7th of June. The payoff was good through the 14th of June so on the 12th the title company over-nighted the payoff check which we have proof they received on the 13th at 9:06am. However they did not post the payment until the 17th, the same day they debited my account for $3k for the June payment although they had the payoff in hand. When I called demanding my mortgage payment back, they told me they had 21 days to credit my account and since the payment didn't post until the 17th I owed three days more of interest since the payoff was good through the 14th.

When I pushed back and asked for a supervisor, of course none were available so I was promised a callback. And of course no one called back. One week later, I called again, explained the entire process again and was told once more they had 21 days. I again asked for a supervisor and none got on the line, but the rep said the supervisor was going to another department to see if they could help me. So now I wait 15 minutes on hold and was finally told they had to wait until 10 days so they could not refund my mortgage until the afternoon of the 28th. Keep in mind they still owe me about $2500 in escrow money they are still keeping until the 21st day as their policy states. Horrible company whit whom to work. Stay away from these guys.

My husband and I occurred some hardship over several years between job loss and health and we were still keeping our head above water as I was the sole breadwinner of a family of 4 but it got to be too much within the last year and we attempted to negotiate a lower mortgage payment, the only way this could occur was through a forbearance process. The process is too long to explain but it occurs over a 6 month span. We have been with Citizens for a long time but the bank staff and the online mortgage staff have 2 different philosophies on customer service.

We had an associate assigned to our account that left us monthly voice mails.... period. We had 1 contact during the initial setup but never spoke with our primary contact during the entire 6 months, even after leaving countless messages and scheduling callbacks: this never occurred, she never returned calls and she never call backed with our scheduled calls. When I reached out to different associates, I would most often get different answers to many questions I had. I actually went to the bank for assistance and even the bank had difficulty reaching staff on the "back line." It was against my better judgment to go through this process to begin with but it is now complete and we have no guidance towards resolving this situation.

I reached out to other associates who stated that I needed to email certain documents to a particular email group. After following up several times it seems "no one has received any of our emails. These were sent over 6 times with the email verified as well. This has been the worse and most stressful experience that I have dealt with, nevermind dealing with the health issues that drove us to complete this forbearance AND we still have not gotten anywhere with the lowering of our mortgage payment. I have been in customer service for years and I have to say this was absolutely THE worst experience I have had.

And although I probably should have assumed this, I did not realize that my credit would have been affected by this process as I had a flawless record. I do not recommend this company to anyone. Everything in today's world is online and voice messages and you are unable to speak to an actual person who knows their job, but this has been by far the worst I have seen. The time wasted on attempting to reach a qualified person was painful. Sign a frustrated middle class worker.

I think cancelling my protection package after paying for it is illegal, but whatever.

Then my bookmark to my loan page gets dismissed and I cannot access my loan on the internet without contacting the bank. Once resetting my account passwords, again, I see make a payment. I choose to pay it off, and it brings me directly to the change payment account page. Then I have to call the bank anyhow to actually pay off the account. Then there are no guarantees that it will be paid before the next payment is due. Looking back at the time I have had the loan, I realize that the one year period for an upgrade, yes, I had to wait a year to upgrade at full price, came and went without any kind of warning or indication that I can or should. The way this bank operates is very shady and Apple should stop using them as their in house finance provider.

My mortgage was sold to Citizens One Home Loans mid last year. Since I had an escrow account with them they gave me a list of options for handling property taxes at the end of the year. None was really convenient, the last processor got the tax bill and paid it, I didn't have to do anything. I selected an option and sent in the paperwork as directed. At the end of the year I'm pulling everything together and getting it ready to send it in and I notice they've already paid the taxes. Of all the problems to have this isn't really a bad problem. I just wasted a fair amount of time getting paperwork ready.

Then came time to pay my homeowners insurance. Don't know what they messed up but I could see the payment taken from my escrow account in plenty of time to make the payment. However, I got notice from the insurance company that I was being dropped for non-payment. This was about a month after after it was due. When I called my agent it had already been taken care of. Not sure when they did with the $ for those 6 weeks. Jump forward to 2019, I make the Jan and Feb payments on time. My wife and I both came into some extra money so we decide to pay down a chunk of the mortgage principal in early Feb... Instead of applying all the extra funds to principal they applied some of it as the March and April Payments. I called to have this corrected and they were very helpful. The extra payments were reversed but then applied again the very next day.

Another call, and again very helpful. The transaction were again reversed. Somewhere during this process the extra transactions caused my escrow to look overfunded. I got a letter saying it was overfunded but they weren't going to refund the money because I was delinquent. What? I've never missed or been late with a payment. I called in and they corrected this and flagged the account so no actions would be taken while the payment issues were corrected. A few days later we received a packet stating they had the right to start foreclosure unless I took certain steps. This account has never been delinquent, my payments are in a day before the due date. Another call. Somehow during reversing the early payments the account due date was reset to 1/1/2019 so the account looked delinquent. They correct this.

After the early payments were reversed the second time they got re-applied again, this time the interest and principal amounts had changed. Another call to have this corrected. Now in late February there are still 2 incorrect monthly payments and now my March payment is processed. The March payment is not correct though as the interest and principal amounts can't be known until the early principal payment is properly applied. In early March all 3 transactions were reversed, the 2 incorrect ones and the March payment. All of these funds were then applied to pay down principal and the March payment is lost.

I called and told them about this. They corrected the principal balance but they took the over $1075 and claimed it all as interest due. This is 2 1/2 months worth of interest and my escrow account is underfunded by the March contribution amount. Call and write in about this. They respond that the account has been reviewed and all payments have been properly applied. I write back that the March payment was lost and the escrow account is short, missing the March contribution.

Weeks later and still no written response. I called in and since this had already been escalated I was told they would have cashiering call me so we could resolve the issues directly. This was going to take 3-5 business days. 2 weeks later and no call or email from cashiering. So now I call and am really sick of this. I demand to talk to a manager. None are available but "she" will call me later today. Yah, right, they don't call back when they say they will. According to their website they are open till 5 (I assume eastern since they are in RI).

I wait an hour and no call back so call again, they're only around 2 more hours or less. Still no manager available, they'll get back to me. I'm told they are open another 4 hours. I wait another couple of hours and still no call back so I call again. Case is open, they'll call. I ask when. Usually within 24 hours. No call was received that day or today. Time to warn other and file official complaints with higher powers.

Then the resolution for these items is always super slow to apply, sometimes requiring follow up to ensure that the correction is actually applied. What should have been 9 transactions in my account history is now a jumbled mess of 46 different transactions. 46 transactions in only 9 months. Wow!

Don’t even bother with using their internal (secure messaging) system. It will take days to get a reply and you will frequently get a canned response coupled with a reply to information that is out of date or not what you wrote to them about. You can call them, only during weekday hours, but don’t expect that even they can understand their system. And as to calling in, see above. If you have a choice, avoid them like the plague. However, because of additional payments in the past, if I continued to make the monthly payment, the loan was going to be paid off by February of 2019.

We had some financial difficulties in November of 2018. In December, I realized that I wouldn't be able to make the entire January payment. So I called them to work something out. They said that my only two options were to make the full payment or request a payoff letter and pay that entire amount (Which was about $1000 more.) Needless to say, this was less than helpful. I had this crazy idea that they wouldn't say no to a partial payment, so in January, I went ahead and made a partial payment, that covered the escrow amount, the interest and about $100 of the principal. In fact, if I had continued to make this same partial payment in both Feb. and March, the amount in my escrow account would have exceeded the payout amount, and the loan would have essentially been paid off by March, 3 months early.

Instead. After keeping my money for a week, they mailed the entire payment back to me in a new check, saying that it is their policy that they do NOT ACCEPT partial payments. And they charged me a $47 missed payment fee. I wouldn't mind the missed (or late) payment fee, if they had only accepted the partial payment. At this point (mid Jan.) I asked for a payoff letter, which they sent. It gave me 1 month to pay the entire amount. In the meantime, from that moment on, I got "Collection" calls every other day, because I had "missed" the Jan. payment. Keep in mind that THEY REJECTED my partial payment, and I was still set to pay off my loan 3 or 4 months early. Also, after 15 years of electronic payments, the FINAL payment is NOT allowed to be an electronic payment!

Also, when I asked for an electronic copy of the payoff letter, (because, of course, it got misplaced almost immediately) they said that they could not do that. I could NOT double check either the payoff instructions or the amount on their website either. Nor could the customer service people give me this information over the phone. If I could not find my letter, my only options was to call customer service and request a NEW copy of the payoff letter, and then wait for it to come in the mail. (By that time, my payment would be late.) I will be SO happy to be done with this company. They are inflexible, unreasonable, and most unhelpful. It's as if they go out of their way to make it difficult to pay off the loan correctly, so that they can charge you some more. Just sleazy. In a just world, half of what these folks do would be illegal.

One hour later I decided to call to better understand what happened. Guy on the line was clueless as to why it was declined however he acknowledged that it has to be something “wrong” since I have been part of the iPhone upgrade and never been late in my payments.

Next day I decided to call them and cancelled my loan. It was a saga. 3 transfers and bogus explanations from the “specialists”. All they read is what computer has displayed in front of them (very hard to understand their pronunciation). After 1 hour and with my problem not resolved I was able to finish the transaction. Close my Apple for life account and move on. Later on that night another representative calls me around 8 pm. Called in to resolve the issue over the phone, and the specialist puts in a ticket to technical support to manually review the card. Calls me back 2 days later to inform me that they are still detecting it as debit and that they have no further resolution and my only solve to the problem would be to use another card.

I opened up this ** credit card for the sole purpose of the iUP, and their resolve is that they cannot correct the detection of the card. I financed my car through Citizens One, and the entire process has been a complete mess, mostly because of them. Originally, I had taken out a warranty on the car but then decided I no longer needed it so I canceled the warranty. The warranty company initially stated I would get 62% of the warranty refunded, but I fought them and they agreed they had miscalculated and I should get 92% back. The first check had already been sent to the dealer, who had forwarded it to Citizens One and it was applied with no issue. They issued a second check for the remaining 30% of my warranty back to the dealer, who forwarded to Citizens One, and... nothing. It was never applied to my account, nothing ever came of it. I called multiple times, and they stated they couldn't even see the check. So I talked to my dealer. They showed me a copy of the check they mailed. I call Citizens One back, and they basically said they couldn't do anything.

A month goes by with me calling Citizens One back and forth over different things. Finally, my dealer calls me and says that Citizens One mailed them a copy of a check with the note that they could not apply the payment because the account number was missing. Strange, considering they had no problem applying the first check for 62%. Whatever. I call Citizens One to give them the correct account number and explain what happened and get everything sorted out. They can't have me do it though because the check isn't from me, so I have to have my dealer fax the original document that was mailed to them along with the correct account number. Fine. I give the info to them, they send it in, and I'm thinking all is well.

Another month or so goes by, and I realize that the extra 30% has never come off my account. So I call Citizens One. They're "very sorry" but they seem to have found the check and identified whatever the problem is. So they would be happy to apply the check to my account and have it applied towards my payment this month, then the remainder to principal. Great! Two weeks go by, and I get a call that my account is past due. I ask if my warranty refund got applied to my payment or if it went towards principal. I was told they had no idea what I was talking about. I explained the situation again, and they said I'd need to contact customer service.

Customer service tells me that they have no record or any notes of me ever calling them about this issue. I explain that I've called every month for the past 7 months, sometimes multiple weeks in a row. They tell me that there is nothing notated on my account, the only extra payment that was ever applied was the original 62% payment. Oh, and I also needed to make my last month's payment plus late fee while I was on the phone before it went to collections. The customer service rep I talked to was unwilling to listen to anything I had to say about what was going on with my account. She just kept telling me that my payment was late and I needed to make it and that they had no records of me calling and applying this extra payment to my account.

At this point, I don't even know what to do. I have called my dealer and advised them what happened so that they can cancel the check that was mailed 6 months ago. I've wasted so much time and energy dealing with Citizens One, and all they can tell me is "Well, we have no record of that." Seems kind of suspect when they start every call by telling you that your call is being recorded.

To put it bluntly, it is very hard to take advantage of the balance transfer offer I received from Citizens One. The interest rate is very good, however I have posted a warning in my tracking spreadsheet to myself. This is to remind me not to purchase anything during the time which I am paying down the balance. Okay, I got that pretty much under control. I put the card in my "sock drawer" to make sure I don't use it. This is because as soon as you use the card for a purchase, the entire balance reverts back to 17.74% (in my case).

But, what they did next took me by surprise. I have been using balance transfers since 1996 with much success and I have never encountered what Citizens One has done. My wife and I have other cards - Citibank, Discover, Capital One and Bank of America and none of these banks have done this. The month following the month when I made my first "paydown" payment on my Citizens One Bal. Transfer, there was a finance charge of $5.49. Oops! I said, somebody charged something by mistake, even though it did not show up on the previous statement. But no! It was not a charge. It was finance charge on the 3% transfer fee. I have heard of something like this before- where your first payment should pay the fee off, but it had not happened to me.

The incident only happened on Friday (today is Sunday) and I was going to call up the bank to complain, but have not yet done so. Anyway, when I discovered the finance charge, I immediately went online and set up a quick payoff of the fee PLUS the MINIMUM required amount PLUS the $5.49 finance charge. And, for good measure, I even added an extra $5.55 to cover another month's prospective finance charge just in case! It will be interesting to see how the payment is applied to what balance- interest or balance transfer amount.

By the way, before I did the Citizens One Bank balance transfer, I made sure that my previous balance was ZERO. Also, I did a similar balance transfer back in 2013 and there was only a monthly minimum charge of $1.50 during the entire course of the payback (and no finance charge on the transfer fee). Citizens One also has a "sticky" website when it comes to choosing the date when the payment will be made. It likes to choose the next business day rather than the day you enter. You must be very careful when choosing the date, sometimes causing you to go back and change it several times. I got stuck once on this practice. All of the other banks I mentioned have made it very clear and have improved the way it displays information such as the date. But, Citizens One has not made any improvements to its website in at least 8 years, at least none that I can see.

I called the company to settle on a price to pay off the vehicle, as she owed about $7,000 more than what the vehicle was worth. After speaking to 4 different people, 3 of whom were managers, and being lied to by those 4 different people, they finally transferred me to the department that negotiates and settles loans. After calling this department several times and attempting to work with them (attempting meaning they dont return phone calls, dont follow up and dont engage with customers). These people are DISHONEST, hard to work with and difficult to communicate with. I have been LIED to by at least 7 different people now and have contacted them more than they have contacted me. This is a HORRIBLE company to do business with, would stay as far away as possible.

I had a loan with Citizens One to do an addition on my home. The loan was for 200,000. 2016 I received a notice saying that the balance of the loan had come due. Not having an extra 190,000.00 I applied for a modification. Through out my loan I was never late with payments, never missed a payment. I started this process August of 2016. I am now on my fifth time of having to submit a ridiculous amount of paperwork and start process once again. They are now threatening to foreclose on my home that is valued at 2.5 million dollars. Because of the amount of time that has passed they have ruined my credit. It's now in the 500 when I've always been well above 700. Therefore no other loan companies want to touch this. My primary home loan is up to date and always has been. I can't believe that this company has made my life a living hell for a year. If anyone has any suggestions please contact me. I had a loan with them for the Apple upgrade program. I pay monthly payments and it makes me eligible for upgrading to the new phone, or I can pay the balance and own the phone. All was fine in the beginning. Then, I started having issues with my phone to the point where I was no longer enjoying it. Apple's customer service was under the impression that as long as I had made a year's worth of payments, that Apple was satisfied and I could return the phone and the contract would be void.

But that wasn't the case with Citizens One. According to them, if you make a year's worth of payments, you're eligible for the upgraded phone. I asked if there was any opt out clause. Can I pay a fine or any type of fee to get out of the contract? They said no. I was stuck with the phone until I pay off the balance. How do you not offer any kind of way to get out of the contract? This whole system is far worse than the 2-year contract commitment needed with the cellular service providers. At least they had early termination fees. I paid off the balance of the phone, and I'm certain to never ever do business with Citizens One ever again.

I wanted to pay off my personal loan, with my debit card, I was told they couldn't accept a debit card and that I could only pay off my loan by calling them with a check. I then told them that I had my Credit Union cut a check for the balance of my loan and was told from customer service that they would not honor my bank and send it back to Credit Union.

I was pissed off because my bank check was out of my savings account. Their system sucks. I didn't know that when I bought my Apple phone, that Apple didn't charge my Barclaycard, instead they wheel and deal with Citizens One bank cause this horror for me. I am very dissatisfied and will never have anything to do with Apple or this bank again!!! What is the difference between a debit card or a bank check both a done deal. Why do I have to call them and give them my routing and bank account so they can take my money out! People read this don't take loans with this bank!

UPDATE: I wanted to double up on my payments on my personal loan. I submitted one check doubling my monthly payments so I can pay off my loan faster. They claim they couldn't accept the check so they took one payment and I refunded me the other because according to them I can only make one payment at a time. How ridiculous is that, I would think the bank would want me to pay it right away. Please change the bank rules to accept debit, credit or bank checks and not just personal checks.

I currently have two loans with Citizens One. One loan on my primary residence is a 5 year ARM. When I was contacted by Alex ** from Citizens One at the end of March regarding refinancing, because I would be getting an adjustment in July, I decided to go forward with refinancing. After providing all financial information over the next month, including all rental information, tax returns, etc., Alex indicated that I would need to take a distribution from my IRA of $50k to make the numbers work to qualify. At no point was there any indication that we would not qualify for the refinance, especially since we had just received financing in January for the purchase of a different property, and were required to take an IRA distribution, similar to this situation.

In early May, Alex informed me that I needed to pay $555 for an appraisal which was done on May 8th. Again, no inkling that the mortgage numbers did not work. On May 25th, I was told by Citizens One that we did not qualify for the mortgage. I contacted Alex, who indicated he would speak with the Underwriter to find out the problems. Alex never got back to me again. I reached out to his supervisor Maria **, who explained that she told Alex that we would not qualify, even with a $50k distribution, but would find out if a higher distribution would work. A few days later she told me that would not work either. She also indicated that the appraisal should not have been done and that the money would be refunded. After two weeks of unanswered phone calls and emails, there is no refund.

It's amazing how quick Alex was to return phone calls and messages when he was trying to get a commission, and his supervisor is obviously, no better! For over a month they could see that they were not going to make this mortgage work, yet still let the appraisal go forward at the expense of the customer, and then they just disappear when it comes to correcting their mistake!

Citizens Bank modified the loan anyway, converting it from an equity loan to a mortgage loan. The "new loan" included an amount much greater than was due on the account. Since I was missing several statements, I asked them to send me copies of them so I could sort through the mess. There were clearly at least two missing payments. The loan is now with an arm of Citizens Bank called "Citizens One Home Loans." They epitomize incompetency.

I decided to send in payments under the new loan to try to keep the loan from going into delinquency. They took two months to post the November payment and the December payment is still unposted. Both of these payments were by bank check so no excuse. To date, there is still no sign of the December payment. And now the loan is showing as four months in arrears, which we all know what that triggers... I'm infuriated and frustrated. Nightmare company to deal with. Please don't deal with them. We refinanced our house approximately two years ago when we got behind in payments. (In the two years CCO Mortgage change their name to Citizens One.) This refinancing helped us get back on track and we started making our payments. In August of that year Citizens One returned approximately 9,000.00 dollars that we had paid saying that we signed the agreement late and no longer had a mortgage.

We applied for Obama relief help and gathered all the information they needed and were declined. They said we could reapply and we did and again were denied because of something else. I believe we applied again and were told we were not eligible for some reason. (My husband has documented the exact dates and reasons.) They suggested we go for a short sale in January. We did get an offer and submitted it with all of the paperwork. We had no choice, we had no place to send mortgage monies. We sent the offer in with all the paperwork again and we were denied. They said we did not send the paperwork in time to stop the foreclosure auction.

Our house went to foreclosure auction on March 23, 2016 and Citizens One is now the proud owner and will put it on the market as soon as everything is out of the house. (A realtor let us know this.) We bought this house in 1987 and have paid the original mortgage of 105,000 several times by now. It is in a desirable neighborhood and our kids still have the friends they made. Many of our friends sold their house and upgraded. Now new families are raising their families with other young families like we did. I have heard that the bank does this to people who have owned their house for a long time and have paid the original mortgage and more over the years. They now get to sell the house and get more money.

To make things worse they kept on sending us monthly statements and ruined our credit because of the 240 late payments. I think our last statement was for 34,000.00 and even if we had it they would not accept it because they are saying we do not have a mortgage with them. We now are renting a condo where we pay more than we did in mortgage payments. This was not due because we did not have the monies to pay. We had no place to send the money. This has been a nightmare and I hope no one else goes through what we have.

After trying to get a modification for an upside down loan they denied my modification. They set impossible ranges to get modification. They process each person’s income and expenses in a different way from modification to modification. For instance if you qualify for their modification ranges in debt to income ratio they will use your back end debt to ratio instead and then disqualify you. I recently got a mortgage modification with Wells Fargo on my first mortgage but CCO is my second mortgage and they denied and flat out refused to modify my mortgage with them even though I should qualify.

The final decisioner told me that I would need several thousands of dollars to qualify for the mortgage modification (if I had several thousands of dollars then I would not qualify because I would have been out of range on the debt to income side), although I qualified for modification via debt to income. However, they were using my back-end debt to income ratio instead. I was told several things throughout the process including I was approved for the modification to only learn that I was not approved.

In some ways I feel I was being discriminated against for being white, although I know white is not a protected class. I was lied to several times and everyone I talked to at CCO mortgage told me totally different stories. I have recorded all conversations with CCO Mortgage due to dual consent because they say in all of their calls the call is being recorded, so in a lot of states that means that is dual consent meaning that you can record the call as well even though you don't tell them that. This is due to the fact that they told you the call was being recorded in the first place and this includes them being recorded.

If you tell them you are recording the call they will actually tell you to stop though, so I never tell them I am recording the call because I have dual consent anyhow. I plan to post all of my recording on YouTube for other to learn from after I remove my personal info from the calls. In conclusion I believe it to be impossible to get a mortgage modification due to CCO violation federal fair practices acts (even though they send you to the federal HAMP website). They will continue to get away with it until they are sued by a class action suit like other banks have been shown can happen. My opinion is that they only offer a modification to gather additional information about you to use against you later.

One other thing I would like to say is that my loan originated from Charter One "AKA CCO". They then switch my loan over to CCO mortgage "AKA Charter One" after I applied for the modification. I never signed any change to my loan terms because they never approved a modification for me although they changed my loan terms telling me if I pay down my equity loan that I cannot draw on it no more. This is terms I never agreed to. This is just another example of unfair practices that CCO Mortgage chooses to practice as though there are no laws or they are above the law.

I also wanted to share that I was told on a recorded call that there is no federal law saying that I have the right to appeal a denial of mortgage modification in which I found to not be true. So beware of CCO Mortgage and Charter one Home Loans. They practice unfair practices at the consumer expense. I do plan to file a complaint to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) as a result of my unfair treatment by Charter One Bank and CCO Mortgage and local government to report the unfair consumer practices they use.

I asked why it would take so long and why the funds could not be deposited electronically to my Citizens Bank account. She also practically scolded me stating I had called earlier in the month with the same question.

At the end of this call I called again and requested a Supervisor. This Customer Rep told me she would have a supervisor call me which did occur within about one half hour. The Supervisor again stated this was company policy and the funds could not be electronically deposited into my account. Is this company back in the Stone Age? CCO Mortgage has always accepted my electronic payments monthly, plus I'm sure the funds for the payoff were received by your company electronically. And Citizens Bank has never hesitated to withdraw $35 from my account ELECTRONICALLY on the times I have had insufficient funds to cover a check. But you can't refund my escrow electronically? Really? I find that ludicrous in this age of technology.

I am furious that I received such an abrupt attitude from Shannon and then be told MY MONEY won't be returned for almost three weeks. This is unconscionable and unacceptable. Your on-hold message states that customer satisfaction, loyalty and trust are very important to your company. This is misleading and you have failed miserably. My husband has a progressive illness for which I need this money which is mine to begin with, for his medications. I was depending on it after my payoff was completed. CCO Mortgage has been our mortgage lender for the past 6 years. We were referred to them by Citizens bank. CCO is a branch of Citizens. Citizens bank had our home loan and then when we bought a rental home they talked us into putting both homes under the same mortgage to save interest. Everything was okay for 1 month. We then began receiving late payment notices from them. I would call and tell them payment was made. They just argued even when I had proof of payment and I always did. They kept sending me to different departments and different staff. We then received a foreclosure notice after they started refusing our payments. It was at this time that we owed them 1,600.00 and they sent it back. Prior to this, we received statements stating that we owed them 6,000 or 5,000 etc. and we just kept paying them despite proof that we did not owe them. We sold everything and it never got better.

We went to an attorney to try to get this resolved. He recommended that we sell our rental property and pay them what they said we owed in late payments. We sent them 67,000 more dollars. They put 17,000 of this as interest owed, 21,000 went to their attorney and the remainder as late payments. It was fine for 2 months then we got a letter from them stating that we owed them 1500.00 for appraisal. This was after we got a letter from their attorney stating a 0.00 balance, only what we still owed as the remainder of the mortgage. I argued this. It went nowhere and is still on our statement. I continued making monthly payments to them to improve our credit so we could refinance with another lender. This month I received a letter of default from them for April and May payments. I called them with the check #'s and the dates that they cleared their bank. This got me nowhere. They are now saying that I owe them 7,500 in late payments and fees.

The extortion began again. There is absolutely no one at this lenders to assist, we are fighting a losing battle with them. This bank is a predator. We are good people that just want to pay our mortgage off. It is my fault that we went with Citizens bank to finance our home. Thanks to them we have almost lost everything. We have nothing left to sell, despite what we pay them they keep saying that we owe them more. I pray that other innocent people do not go to them for any reason. If anyone out there has any idea what we can do we would sincerely appreciate it as this is ongoing and there appears to be no happy ending, for us anyway. Citizens Bank/CCO mortgage seem to be profiting very nicely from their apparently legal extortion lending.

They have reported us to the credit bureaus showing late pays. When I call just about every month having to explain all this, they inform me they will only write one letter to the credit bureau to correct their mistake and I will have to write a letter of explanation and mail it to CCO for review. Before all of this happened our payment had never been late for 8 years. If any lender ever recommends CCO mortgage beware - they are idiots!!!

I'm a realtor in TN. My clients are buying a home here. We have missed the closing by one week and still don't have a firm HUD for my clients. There is only one phone number to call and it's a personal cell. That loan officer is on vacation and hasn't returned the Title Co. and my calls since yesterday. Just got through to her and she doesn't have any idea when the loan will get through processing. Fortunately for this closing the sellers have moved and didn't need the closing funds to make that move.

In other cases, this delay could have affected several sales. Most homes are contingent upon the successful sale of a previous home. I have personally had to tract down the appraiser and encourage the movement from his office to Solidifi, to CCO. Solidify is as bad as CCO. The housing loan market is really a mess, and I understand the govt. has put into effect new rules for closing property. We are being warned by the title co. here that closings will be even longer! It's beyond my comprehension that a loan officer only has a personal cell to reach the company. When I tried to go through CCO Mortgage to get her office number, the clerk had no way to figure out who she was or how to get a hold of her office. Get your loans locally!

I asked to speak to the department and get the same issue... Customer service rep is the buffer between you and people who can get things done. I ask to speak to a supervisor. She said she would have one call me back sometime. Please, find someone else instead. Don't borrow money from them. It's not worth the hassle. If you do, pray you don't need anything else from them. CCO Mortgage is a vulture. We requested for a modification for a loan that has garnered so much payment(s) in interest for the past ten years. Their modus operandi: they call countless times and ask for endless paperwork... only to stall you. Why can't they make a list of stuff they needed & call you... instead of giving you bits & pieces of a list. Not only is it time consuming but it costs to send stuff in the mail. If a consumer never had a default in mortgage payments, & is willing to continue to pay with some consideration in lowering such second mortgage, why would CCO mortgage make it more difficult? They claim to help--- instead, they create a nightmare & build a mountain out of a mole hill. CCO Mortgage---what a tragedy. :(

On Tues 04/14/15 morning I called and requested a "payoff" letter from CCO Mortgage as requested by our attorney. Even at this time (Mon, 04/20/15) we do not have a definite closing date, but have been given a tentative closing date of 04/30. I gave this date to the CCO Mortgage rep and requested that the "payoff" letter 'process' be expedited in lieu of the closing date. I was told that it will take CCO Mort. 3-5 business days to "complete the process" (to complete the letter). I was informed at that time if I wanted this letter faxed to my attorney, they charge a $25.00 "fax fee." I requested the letter be mailed via the USPS under the assumption we would have the letter in time.

I called CCO again today to find out if the letter had been completed yet and was told it was not done yet. When I asked when I might be receiving it, I was told "we have 3-5 business days to complete it," with tomorrow (04/21) being "business day" 5. Then, it would take 1-2 more "business days" to get to the mail-room. Following that, it might take an additional 7-10 "business days" for the letter to be received at our mailing address.

Today, after bringing this to my mother's (the property owner) attention (that this "payoff letter" has not yet been completed), she called and requested that the letter be faxed to the attorney's office at her expense ($25.00). My mother was informed that because she is changing the way the letter is forwarded to the attorney, it would take an additional 5-7 business days!!!

We are at the mercy of this mortgage company AND are being charged a large amount for what will probably cost them total, less than $1.00 in the actual cost of the fax 'process.' This company seems to be taking advantage of the position we are in and is aloof to how many and/or whomever is waiting on them (the high and almighty mortgage company) to process what I think is a very simple request!!!

I have attempted for four years to get a modification of my second mortgage held by CCO Mortgage. They accept the paperwork, ask for more and then deny because of my debt to ratio, i.e., they feel I can afford to pay their interest rate of 8.25 but I cannot afford to pay a lower interest rate. I have been in touch with HOPE (hopeless......) have written everyone from local, state and federal government. I have researched CCO and the complaints are endless, from five years old, and not resolved. Although it was difficult, I my first mortgage, with Chase, was modified to a 2 per cent rate for five years. I thoughtlessly entered into a 2nd mortgage, originally with Coldwell Banker, in 2006 so I could do necessary repair work and remodeling to the house. In nine years, the balance has only reduced from $21,000 to $19,800 because it appears to be an almost interest only payback loan.

Why does the government allow this to happen to its citizens and why do they smear all over Facebook that we can get help? Not if you are with CCO Mortgage. I hope anyone who reads this will consider a class action lawsuit and I hope an attorney out there will consider taking one on. This is not a frivolous lawsuit - it is so necessary to stop this criminal action against homeowners.

Yesterday, 11/19/2014 I got a phone call from an out of state area code and only heard STATIC. This happened again and I then looked up the area code on line. It was at that point that I called the number back and I easily reached CCO Mortgage. I was encouraged by a recorded voice to "share" any concerns or ways they could improve their service and my experience.

When pretty much through my own initiative I realized I had, by an oversight on my part, failed to pay my mortgage for the month of November. I went online and made the payment through Citizens Bank. Since the two companies are affiliated the payment will clear in one business day. I tried to log on at CCO and was locked out because of a previous attempt when I did not know my password. When I called CCO an agent reset my password and I am certain I entered it correctly but it did not work. In fact I said to the agent, "I should log on now while I have you on the phone". I called back and got an agent who "owned" the issue and I was successful. On their web page I typed out a lengthy detailed message, the form allows four thousand characters, and when I hit the send tab I found out I had timed out and so my composition was a total waste of MY time notwithstanding their assurances they want to hear about my experience with them.

The bottom line is they tried to contact me at an up to date working phone number and when I answered all I heard was STATIC. I have had the mortgage for 18 years and I was late one other time, again due to an oversight on my part. I suspect they have farmed out this part of their business and the communication systems with their contractor are less than optimal. What else am I to think because when I called the number back, bingo, I got CCO Mortgage. So they could not contact me, not because of me but because of them. When I tried to communicate with them their web page timed out without prompting me to refresh the page. If you go to their web page and look for a contact us link you will see there is no email address to do so which is entirely in keeping with their "attitude" and the way they do business. I bank with Citizens Bank, an affiliated company, and find them to be innovative and responsive. CCO Mortgage: not the same "thing".

We have been paying our mortgage on time for 18 months, and just last week, we received a letter from CCO stating that our escrow account was 5000 dollars in the red, and because of this, our mortgage was being increased by over 750 dollars a month for a period of one year. When I called the company and told them I could not afford an increase of this amount, they first suggested that I could expand my payments to 24 months, but the amount would be approximately 640 dollars a month more. When I asked if it could go further, they said it could be extended to 36 months, but the cost would then be 480 dollars more a month.

I exclaimed to the person that if I was to pay the 640 dollars, that would amount to 15,600 over the two years, and that 480 dollars over 36 months would equate to 17,280 dollars, and how was this compared to the amount of 5000 that they said I was short? The answer was, that because I couldn't pay the amount in the first 12 months (which the woman admitted was the banks error) that there were penalties. I was so upset, I hung up the phone as the woman I spoke to was very curt and short with me. How come we face penalties if it was admitted that it was CCO's fault? I have since contacted Citizen's Bank to lodge a complaint, which they said they were looking into this problem, and that I should continue to pay my usual payment until they could discover the problem.

Past two years tried to re-finance the house not due to financial issues but for a better deal since our interest rate was extremely high. Again CCO mortgage wanted to take advantage of us and charge max rates and everything, plus the closing was extremely high so we left due to a better offer. We closed on August 20, 2014 roughly 16:00 hours, therefore the loan was paid in full, promise kept.

So when I tried to obtain and recollect the escrow account they told me wait a week, then two, then three. Was then told the check was in the mail as of September 05, 2014, so on September 12, 2014 when we received three letters from CCO Mortgage, all envelopes post mark September 10, 2014. First letter was dated August 29, 2014, second September 08, 2014 and lastly again September 08, 2014 but no check. I Called CCO mortgage and made them aware of these letters obtained but no check, which created a lie. They refuse to cancel the check and reissue directly to our account. They did not send it certified mail or return receipt nor can they tell me where it came from or the check number. Made them aware of the thirty-day rule!!! Their response!! We have to wait.

They note in the file my displeasure, frustration yet they offer no remedy. I ask to speak management!!! Their response!! Busy. I laugh because when you call CCO mortgage they tell you in a pre-recorded message "Satisfaction, Loyalty, trust mean everything to CCO mortgage." Well explain to me where the money is? We found the "making home affordable" program online and saw that we qualified for it. We filled out all the paperwork and faxed it in along with all the supporting paperwork. We called and they said they would review it and let us know.

A few weeks later, we contacted them because we had not heard anything and they said that they did not receive it. We sent it in again, called and they again said they would let us know. Again, we called after a few weeks and they said that they were missing a page. We sent it in again, called and made sure that they received everything and said again that they would let us know. A few weeks later, we called again because we again had not heard anything and they said we did not qualify and when we asked why we did not qualify, they said "you just don't" and hung up the phone. A couple weeks later, when we started to have issues paying, we called and asked if we could pay $800/month and they said no.

In July of 2012, they filed for foreclosure and we fought them in court. The judge told CCO to work with us and asked us to pay $776/month until they figured out all the numbers and wrote up a new agreement. Once we received the new agreement, we called to ask our single point of contact some questions and had to leave a message. A full week later, we received a call back and asked them if they could take their lawyers fees off (only around $2000 of the more than $30,000 that they added on to our principal... That call ended in a screaming match, started by the CCO representative.

We later called back to see if that agreement was still an option for us and they said no. They then told the judge that we had declined their offer and asked him to rule in their favor. The judge declined that. Then CCO asked to have the case closed and it was closed this March. The same weekend we found out that the case was closed, CCO sent us a check for almost $2000, but now they say we have to pay them almost $50,000 in a couple of weeks or face foreclosure again. All we have been asking for, is for them to work with us and they refuse to.

I don't think we have been asking for too much... We are willing to work with them and pay them the late fees and interest charges of more than $30,000, but we should not have to pay their lawyer fees... We have been trying to work with them and giving them options for more than 3 and a half years now, but they will not talk to us or offer us any options. Their customer service representatives are rude, very unhelpful and refuse to answer any questions. CCO Mortgage is just an all around horrible company to work with.

We sent it again it took them to long to review it and they called and said they needed updated paper work that happened a couple times. Six months of paper work being mailed & faxed. We got a knock at the door. It was the sheriff serving us with foreclosure papers. Immediately called cco Mortgage. They advised me it was just a formality. I told them no this was no formality and demanded to speak with supervisor. They told me they they would have one call me back. I said "NO I want one now I'm not waiting." They got me a sup.

The supervisor looked over the account and advised me that she was not sure why we were being told that there would be a modification done because we were in an FHA Mortgage. I lost it! We had even offered to make payments. My husband had since found another job. They would not accept payments. So I advised the supervisor I was going to the media and my local news paper. The supervisor got an attitude and said to me "what exactly do you think the media will do for you?" My reply was "if you are doing this to us, how many other families are you doing this to?" She asked me to hold. She came back 10 mins later advising me they would be modifying my Mortgage. And they did. They told us that after 2 years our Mortgage would go back to its original monthly payment and they would tack the past due on at the end of the loan. We agreed and all was well.

We made our payments on time every month. We took that 2 years to repair my husband's credit and to get back to being financially stable. In Dec 2013 we started looking to refinance because our interest rate was going to increase and plus our Mortgage was a 40 yr Mortgage due to the modification. I checked my husband's credit report and cco put on his credit that our home was under foreclosure. I have contacted them numerous times. The situation was escalated because after their lack of response I contacted the consumer financial protection bureau CFPB and they helped but I still can not get cco to contact me back. Being a faithful and always on time customer for over 20 years, I have come to learn the dark side of CCO mortgage. Having encountered some financial difficulty in the past year, we couldn't make our property tax payment on time, so I contacted our auditor's office and made arrangements to become current, sent a copy to CCO, and thought all was well...

HA, was I in for a shocker!! They sent the auditor's office the balance of what we owed despite being on a payment plan, and jumped my mortgage payment up in escrow fees to $1800.00 a month. Not only did they tack on the money they sent the auditor, which by the way, was returned in the original, uncashed check form to a company named CORELOGIC who issued the check to the auditor. Then, they decided out of the kindness of their heart to tack on what was going to be due the following year also. I had the choice to either pay them $6k, or ride out the balloon in my payment, then they would "consider" dropping the escrow, and only if I request so in writing.

I have kept in close contact with my auditor's office about any payments they may have made, and have followed the advice of customer service twice and faxed a copy (again) to the CET DEPT of my financial agreement with the auditor, but have been denied the removal of the escrow placed on my account. Worst of all, you cannot speak to anyone in the CET DEPT; It's like a secret dept that really does not exist. I have made SEVERAL calls and faxes, but cannot get a straight answer from anyone. They transfer you from one department to another, and if you are lucky, you get through without being disconnected, having to start the entire process all over again.

SO, now last time I called, I needed to know if the escrow was dropped or not, nobody could give me that answer. They opened up an "investigation" and said they would have an answer in 5 days and that they would contact me either via phone or snail mail... NEITHER, and this is the second time!!! I was granted the ability to wait until the end of the month to pay the mortgage payment, in which the customer service rep was sincere that I would have an answer; that was a month ago, SO, at the end of the month I made sure my normal payment was in. Get 2 letters today stating that my mortgage is 30 days past due, which it is not, and the payment was not applied to my loan...REALLY, Then where did it go??

I also received a paper from their loan counseling dept stating I have 2 weeks to furnish information to see if they can modify my loan, refi, or whatever... Unfortunately, there is no paperwork or "checklist" inside to submit the request for help... huh? What a waste of time, stamps and paper! Why send it if you don't include it? I only have 2 1/2 more years on my first mtg with them, have paid them back their interest, and now it seems like they are trying to seize my home for their own interest. I feel like they are preying on me, and I am really pissed about it.

When you call and get bounced from dept to dept, it is crazy because like I said they have you go through the entire spiel over and over again, which just builds in frustration... Are you on the computer looking at my loan and comments or not? They are not out there to help you in any way, just confuse you and take advantage of you. And who is CORELOGIC, and why couldn't I talk to someone there, or the mysterious CET dept who does not take phone calls, only faxes?? Too many different depts, people, with not enough authority, and nobody gives a damn... Seek your mortgage and bank accounts elsewhere... So I'm off to find an attorney now... done with this crap from CCO Mortgage!!

They said that my credit scored dropped and put us in a higher risk category. My score was 1 point below the required min to not cause an increase. SERIOUSLY? Well when you have pulled my credit numerous time over 3 months while trying to obtain the mortgage. Of course it's going to decrease on the last pull. So that increase will cost about $24K over the "7 years" or until we have 21% equity. Which will likely extend past 7 years, because I'm sure that will be World War IV to try and get them to remove it.

I told her that they had received it because I had email confirmation and she went on to say that there were late payment fees due so I read the email that I had received and she said that the late payment was not included in the payment and I told her that it was.

I then asked her why not and for the life of me, she could not answer my question. She began to get irritated with me because I kept asking her why they didn't apply the late payment with the money that I had sent them. She said that she would have a supervisor call me back and as of this date I have never received a call. Today, 10/13/13, I received a letter of default from them stating that I owe them over $500.00 in back payments. I am so angry at these people. One thing that they have no clue as to what they are doing and they are trying to suck every dime that they can from people. Next thing, I tried to create an account online so that I could pay my bills and manage my account online and I have not been able to do that. I was told that I could not set up an account. I have so had it with CCO Mortgage.

I've been a customer for over a decade. I have a mortgage with CCO as well. Without getting into too lengthy a blow by blow, let me just say that my Branch Manager, Alaina, doesn't have a clue about customer service. She passed the buck to her regional boss, a "Senior VP", by dishing out a phone number. There’s no offer to do a conference call, no offer to be my advocate, but just excuses for her lack of power or interest. When pressed, she admitted that the VP wouldn't be available by phone, and any call back would be from an Administrative Assistant. Any problem would take a week to address.

After dropping the ball locally in November, after waiting two weeks dealing with higher levels, an additional $100 was charged to my HELOC in December, despite my insistence that the account be closed. The first time I tried to close it a year ago, I pointed out that I was $46,000 under water. There was no equity, yet I was allowed a $17,000 HELOC. The sad part is that I am in process of doing a refi with CCO Mortgage. I have to reconsider my entire relationship if I can't find someone who understands customer service and has some authority to craft a solution.

We started the refinance process for a 30yr fixed mortgage in April of 2012. An appraiser came out and gave an as is appraisal noting 9 windows needed maintenance. We have a 130 year old house, so this is not really a surprise. CCO told us that they couldn't complete our refi unless we replaced all 9 windows and gave us a due date in July 2012. They said if we completed the windows and notified them by that date, they would have the appraiser go back and take pictures of the completed windows and we would close the end of July.

We did the work and called our contact person before the due date to say we're ready for the appraiser to come back. He told us "Oops, someone pressed the wrong button and your appraisal has been removed from the system along with all the documents you had completed with us. You have to start all over again." This is the 2nd or 3rd week of July.

So we tried to argue, but there was no use. We started providing all the paperwork all over again. It took them until the first week of September to assign an appraiser (a different one). The appraiser comes out and we get a call from the bank that the appraisal came out over $100k lower than the first appraisal which, and the bank said this, was like $150k too low. We got this whole explanation that there hadn't been sales of houses like ours (3 family) in our town or immediate area, so the comparison properties were in these lesser neighborhoods and the "the law specifies what comps we can use" etc, etc. We asked for a copy of the appraisal too many times to count, and they always had some excuse why they couldn't send it. They told us they had to add 1/2 point to our rate because of the appraisal and we had to do most of the paperwork again. Then they made us send them copies of statements for our 401Ks, checking account, copies of our leases, the insurance declaration like 4 times.

Finally we closed the first week of November after they tried to tell us we were on a FEMA list from Sandy (which was BS) and delay us past the expiration date of the appraisal. They were telling us we were going to need a new appraisal, etc. I gave them a date and time after which I was calling an attorney to pursue legal action both civil and criminal. A miracle, we closed. After yelling at the guy for another 2 or 3 weeks, they finally sent us a copy of the appraisal. It had an error which when corrected and the correct number put in the appraisers calculation, brought the appraisal up to the same as the first one. But the papers are signed and they won't take the extra 1/2 point off.

It gets better. They have been sending us notifications about our homeowners insurance. We have no record (remember we sent it 4 times a month ago). Now you don't have enough coverage. And after both of those issues were taken care of well within the time frame given, we received a policy which they had taken out in our name, back dated 2 months, which cost 3 times what our policy costs and has the same liability etc. Turns out that was cancelled by the time we received the paper in the mail. Now I'm trying to get a human to make sure they didn't charge us for any portion of their duplicate policy. This will cost us $67500 over the life of the loan.

I applied for a home loan modification in March 2011 but withdrew my application before any decision was made. I remained and continue to remain current on my mortgage payments as CCO Mortgage customer service admits. However, they are erroneously reporting to the credit bureaus that I am making partial payments, which is clearly not the case. When I called customer service, I am passed to loss mitigation, then back to customer service, and no one knows how to fix the problem. They admit the error but told me a "computer" reports this information and I should try and fix it with the credit bureaus. This has become a nightmare. I have been turned down for a low-interest refinance loan due to this error on my report that CCO admits is their fault but seem unable (or unwilling) to fix it. What can I do? I was turned down for a low-interest refinance loan and my credit score has dropped from 750 to 704.

In October of 2009, I applied for a loan modification on my home. The loan was written up and mailed to me for my signature. The loan offer from CCO reduced my payment by only about $100 and added an additional 20 years on to my current 12-year mortgage. This did not make any sense whatsoever to me, so therefore I declined the loan. CCO changed the terms of my loan although I never signed the contract. CCO included my property taxes and Homeowner's insurance, which I have always paid separately. I continued to pay my original loan payment and am current with every payment. CCO calls me several times a week asking for the shortage of payments of $3600. I received several letters from them and the last certified letter stating I could lose my home.

I have contacted CCO numerous times to get this matter straightened out. They are not applying my payments because they say that they cannot post the payments that have a shortage. CCO acts as though I took the new loan, although I did get a letter from them stating that I declined the loan. CCO stated that they would put a hold on my account to stop the calls, but I still get them. Now they are saying I can lose my home. I call them with every letter I get. When they call me, I reiterate that I declined the loan and ask them to fix this account. I have spent numerous hours on the phone and get nowhere. I have recently sent a letter to the Attorney General. This has been going on for months. CCO has also sent letters threatening to send this to collections and will affect my credit report. I am not sure if I need an attorney for this, but I feel that I am being harassed by this company seeing that I was never behind on any payments.

I made the monthly mortgage payment due by 11/01/2009 on 10/15/2009. Added to this payment was $9292.78 in additional money to be applied to principal. CCO Mortgage deducted Principal & Interest for the payments due 11/01/2009 as well as 12/01/2009, before applying the rest to principal.
I e-mailed CCO mortgage on 10/16/2009 requesting that the P & I taken for 12/01/2009 be applied exclusively to principal reduction, I received a reply on 10/22/2009 indicating this would be done and to allow 7 to 10 business days for this to be effective. I e-mailed CCO again on 11/5/2009 indicating that the additional money was not reflected in my account. To date there has been no reply.
