    I had a total loss wreck back in September of ‘23 and had GAP insurance through Smart AutoCare… Heads up. DO NOT GET THEIR POLICY!! My claim was supposed to be done by end of January ‘24 (end of the 90 cycle for claim submission), while they put you through the RINGER in the process of gaining documentation (sent the same stuff to them OVER 3 times), they don’t do a damn thing. My claim was being worked by a “D. James”, who I assume was either fired or let go, because when I called back IN APRIL since my claim had still not been processed. I asked for the reasoning behind my claim never being processed and the response was “the agent who was working your claim is no longer with our company and your claim happen to fall through the cracks”.

    Once they did begin to reprocess my claim, it was approved. However, it took an additional 3 months to go through (from September 2023 to April 2024). If you ever need to contact them, go ahead and take the day off work!! There is ALWAYS going to be more than 10 callers ahead of you AND you will always be on hold for at least 40 minutes before speaking to someone. Once you finally get a representative… they are either… 1.) rude as hell!! 2.) have no clue what they are doing!! 3.) have to contact a supervisor for every question!! 4.) transfer you around all day and still have zero employees who are able to answer anything. This company is a scam to put it best. Get literally ANY other GAP provider before you even give this company .00001% of a thought!! PATHETIC!!

    Don't waste your money with this company. I had purchased coverage when I got my Volvo lease. Thought I was covered with excess wear and tear. I was wrong. Company uses every loophole to try and not pay you.

    Terrible company. I purchased gap insurance for my mini van. Hit a deer and totaled. Smart Autocare denied my claim calling my vehicle a commercial vehicle. It's a minivan. They said it was a 10,000-pound vehicle used more than 50% of the time for business according to their definition. They will not back you. Don't waste your money.

    Do not buy. Not as good as factory certified warranty whatsoever. Crooked as dealer sold this to me. They make you jump through hoops and want you to wait while they send someone out to drive your vehicle before repairs are made. Then they want you to wait while they approve the repairs and get photos of every part. Then they make you wait again while making payment. Rental car is only covered for how many LABOR HOURS the job took, not how many days waiting on Smart Auto Care's incompetence. My repair was a transmission, took over two weeks because of this dumb warranty.

    This is a criminal enterprise that should be prosecuted by all state insurance commissioners and refunds for all consumers that were swindled by their immoral practices. They will point fingers at their accomplices, the unscrupulous dealerships that peddle their deceitful products.

    Horrible just horrible. No basis for claim denial even with CarFax maintenance records as proof. After proceeding to begin to finally order the part then pulls the claim with a denial. Meanwhile I am stuff with a bill 6 weeks in a rental in which they will not cover 1 cent. Plus still needing to replace a car engine. Horrible horrible horrible. Shame on their practices.

    On Dec 5th I had my car towed to the Infiniti dealer of Orlando. On Dec 6th Infiniti submitted inspection info. On Dec 13th we finally heard back from warranty company (JD). Stated that they will provide engine but Infiniti’s rate ($230) is over the average rate that the warranty company will pay for ($145). And that I’d be responsible for the cost. JD (warranty rep) suggested that I shop around to other shops to find lower rate to avoid me having to pay any balance. I spoke it over with the Infiniti shop and they were willing to reduce the rate to $199. JD stated that I’d be out of $3000 with that rate. I began shopping around and found Service Center of Orlando.

    On Dec 19th, I had my car towed to Service Center of Orlando. Spoke with head mechanic Richie. On Dec 22nd, they completed the diagnostic test and results were the same as Infiniti’s. I need a new engine. This information was related to the warranty company on Dec 27th. A claim was created. Claim number: **. On Jan 3rd, the warranty company requested an estimate. The estimate was emailed over same day. Richie provided a screenshot as confirmation for my records. On Jan 5th the warranty company sent out an inspector. The inspector checks the car and inform Richie that the car needs a new engine and he will suggest this to the adjuster (JD). We could not get in touch with JD for a number of days and on Jan 11th, he contacted Richie and stated that they will only replace the coolant reservoir because the inspector stated that there was a leak.

    Richie informed JD that the inspector never performed a test on the coolant reservoir nor did he request the auto shop to do so. Richie emailed JD a video and picture of them testing the coolant reservoir during the initial inspection, no indication of a leak, with that JD stated that he spoke with his supervisor and they will only cover the coolant reservoir replacement. I’ve paid on this warranty for 5 years, never had a problem with my car. Routine maintenance and wear and tear on tires, wiper blades, brakes etc.

    I called and reported a buzzing noise in my steering column. They said it would be covered. I took it to a shop who diagnosed the problem as faulty ground connections. Smart AutoCare would not cover the diagnositic or repair. They say they have to approve the claim before the work is started. They deny coverage on semantics and technicalities. The shop technician cannot find the problem without doing diagnostic work? Pathetic waste of $2300 to buy a warranty from this company!

    Very lousy company. I recommend avoiding them at all costs. It's now 11-9-23, they are dragging out a claim from mid-July 2023. They insist some paperwork has not been received, however, the second time they "lost" it, registered mail was used. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.

    My car was totaled 5/5 and here it is almost 3 months later and they have yet to pay off my vehicle. Always get gap through your CAR INSURER, never go with the outside company. I call, they don't answer and the line. Just drops on you. They take WEEKS to respond to my email. Now I am in customer service and my company would NEVER handle a client like this. We must reply and answer questions we're asked. Tiffani ** is my rep and she has NOT answered any of my questions I have but I send her ALL the docs she request.

    I purchased a new 2022 Kia and with that was sold a GAP insurance policy through Smart AutoCare. I lost my car while working at the hospital during Hurricane Ian just 4 months after buying my car. The hospital lost over 300 cars during that storm from employees mandated to work. Smart AutoCare has made paying out the claim IMPOSSIBLE.

    I submitted every single form, news story and insurance form they requested, and every time they came back with demands for the forms to be submitted in a different format, letters from my auto insurance to be reproduced on specific letterhead. While mind you we were in an enormous natural disaster, people from all over the country were here assisting insurance companies etc. My insurance company paid $22,000 and Smart AutoCare has closed the $5,000 claim for my GAP insurance stating inactivity due to the correct forms not being submitted. While this has gone on for 9 months of endless calls, emails and not one ounce of care or help from this terrible company.

    I have lost my apartment, car and now my credit is being tarnished causing further turmoil after everything we have been through. I am in utter shock of how a company can have so many terrible reviews and still be in business. How is there not a class action lawsuit against this joke of a company. I am disgusted and will not stop until this is settled.
