I had the worst experience ever. On August 5th, I called the Tire Choice In Castro Valley, California and inquired about the oil change and tire rotation. I told them that I have Volkswagen Passat, a European car that uses Euro full synthetic oil for diesel motors and wanted to know if they have that oil. They told me, they have oil, it would be $150 and the wait is about 45 minutes. After 5 hours, they put synthetic 0W20 oil and they even didn't rotate the tires even though that was advertised that is included in the oil change. From beginning of the process, the person at front desk, manager J. ** was condescending. So, on August 6th, I called Volkswagen Service, gave them my car information, and asked what type of oil this car needs. They told me that my car uses 5W30 or 5W40. After that I drove to Tire Choice and asked to talk to manager, J. ** and told him about the error.

I asked for my money to be reimbursed or that he puts the correct oil in my car. He immediately became defensive, condescending, and argued that they put correct oil in my car. The manager refused to give me money back or to correct the error. He was still arguing with me until I called the other professional from Volkswagen service, who confirmed also what oil should be put into a Passat diesel motor. The manager refused to give me money back but did agree to correct the error and put correct oil in the car. After another 4 hours, they didn't replace the oil. I observed that he only added approximately 10 oz of oil and not the required 4.5 quarts.

When I checked the oil level for safety, it was way over MAX level which can cause car’s engine to blow from too much pressure. I had to find another service provider to change the oil again, since this company had proven to be distrust worthy. So, not that this service put wrong oil and possibly cause damage to my motor and expensive repair if I didn't discover their mistake, but also they overfill my motor and possibly cause my motor to blow out. The worst possible service ever, I will never return or recommend this place to anyone. Stay away from this place.

During calls they will tell us to take you for all your money, sell services that they dont actually do, like coolant flushes, brake flushes so on. Big scam, brakes pads and rotors lol 800 bucks, don't be dumb. Take it somewhere else. Give your business to the mom and pop shops not the corporate shit shows, no real techs or talent. Why would you want your car worked on by someone that doesn't know how to use a screw driver lol

I went to Munro brake service in Jenison, Michigan to get new brakes and rotors. I go I drop my car off. Everything seems OK. Later a guy calls and says, "Hey you need new calipers because they’re stuck," and I was confused. I said I didn’t have problems with my calipers before and he said, "Oh yeah," and "We’re gonna have to keep your car for 10 days for the part to come in," and I was shocked and said what the heck I’m not gonna do that. He also said it was gonna be around $1000 extra. I was like nope and he said, "Oh forget it. You don’t need new calipers. We just forgot to unclip this area." Sorry it was like when I said no way in heck I’m gonna pay within 30 seconds. They were perfectly fine then I get my car back. I go when I pay think everything‘s fine. He tells me. "Hey there’s some tar or stuff on your brakes. It’s gonna take a few days to wear off." I was like OK.

I’ve never had this really before and other brake shops of any other car I had but that’s fine so two or three days goes by and I’m driving my car and I feel a shake when I drive on the highway. Well I have to commute. I thought that was weird so I thought well it’s probably the stuff going off my brakes. No, it wasn’t. So I contact them and say my rotors are shaking my car when I go to stop to get off the highway. And he said, "Oh well you’re braking too hard." I was confused. I had literally had my car four days so I said, "I want you guys to check it. The warped rotors are causing this. You guys put warped rotors on my car." He said OK.

This person Dan tells me to bring it in schedule me for 8 AM so my wife has a week off so she goes with me to drop off my car so she’s waiting outside. I get in. I said, "Hey, I have an appointment at 8 o’clock to drop my car off. You guys are going to change out the rotors since they’re warped." The guy looks at me and says, "We don’t have any appointment for you," so again, I’m confused.

I explain to him who I talk to and this guy is like, "Well sorry. We don’t have an appointment," and I asked to talk to the manager and he looks at me and says I’m the manager so I explained to him my situation and he said his name was Tim and so I talked to him and say well this is what’s happening. He says, "Well if you leave your car here for us to look at our brake job you have to pay for all labor." Of course I’m looking at. I’m thinking what do you mean you are checking the work you just did four days ago that I’ve already paid for? He said, "Well if we have to check our work you have to pay for the labor." I was shocked. So I asked, "What are you talking about?" He said, "Well by the looks of it you got the silver package." What the heck what is a package?

At this point I think he’s making stuff up so he says, "Yeah you didn’t get the gold package," which was like 1000 or more than what I paid so he said, "So you have to pay for your labor for any checks we do on your car even after we do the job." I grabbed my keys and I said, "I’m done. I am leaving. I I don’t trust you now." I left. I contacted the owner of this location and wrote them and explained my situation. Waited a week. Never heard anything. Went online. Contacted the corporation. Customer service explained my situation. Told them what had happened and asked them to give me a call because I wanted to figure out this situation so I can get my car repaired properly.

2 1/2 weeks go by almost 3 weeks now still have not heard from the corporation so apparently they don’t care about their customers either. Now I’m stuck with a car that I paid for rotors and brakes and now I have to drive it on a highway where every time I even go to break slightly the whole car Shakes because they will not honor their work. I do not trust them. I will never go back to this place. I feel like if I bring it back it’s just gonna get worse or there could be retaliation in my opinion. If the owner of that location won’t contact me and apologize for the bad service and do what’s right and the corporation itself will not talk to me or do what’s right then this is not the company that I want to deal with and I will never ever ever recommend anyone else deal with.

I kick myself in the butt, thinking I should’ve went to a shop that I trusted, but they had a wait time of two weeks and I needed to take a trip for work so I couldn’t wait two weeks. But I will never do work with this company again ever ever and I will never recommend it to anyone for the rest of my life. When you have a gut reaction that you shouldn’t leave your car there after seeing the people that work there and after talking to them go with your gut reaction. Do not use that place. That’s my opinion. That was my experience. Maybe there’s people out there that I’ve had a wonderful experience but this is the second time in 15 years that I’ve had an experience with this place and I’ll never go back.

Please see photos. They were to change my rack and pinion. They said it would be done in one day, no problem. They tried to remove parts that should not have been removed causing frame damage to the vehicle that the dealership cannot repair. The vehicle is now totaled. They did not put the parts on that they removed correctly, shoved it outside and told me to Take the car to Ford. This is the result of Monro. They fixed my other car which broke at the same time and were very proud to drive that car while slap shifting the transmission 70 miles per hour on a busy highway. But nice guys they are, didn’t charge for the destroying my vehicle. I call their Claims Dept. and opened a claim. We will see how this plays out.

Avoid this service center! After getting my tires rotated here, I had to pay an additional $85 to have them rebalanced elsewhere because the job wasn't done properly. To make matters worse, during my next oil change, the technician discovered that the oil filter had been over-tightened and they had installed the wrong filter—they used an FP6607 instead of the Honda-specified 7317. These kinds of careless mistakes can lead to serious issues. Very disappointing experience overall. I strongly recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere.

The experience I had on Friday, 5/16 is no exacerbated by a safety issue my daughter just noticed after purchasing 4 new tires from this same location in Penfield, NY. My issue was the full synthetic oil change I scheduled, which included free tire rotation and fluid levels topped off. I watched very closely as I felt uneasy about the "team" that was on site that day (laughing, swearing, watching videos, etc.). Sure enough, they didn't rotate my tires or top off any fluids. Then argued with me when I questioned them. This morning, my daughter shared a photo with me of a lug nut they "tightened" after selling her four new tires about one month ago. Finally, 4 messages left, no call back!

My daughter was living in Syracuse last year, and brought her Sonata to Erie Blvd location. they charged me $370 for the alternator, and $190 for labor. This was a lot more (5x) than I paid for the alternator 7 yrs earlier, but I was pleased that they got her in quickly. New one worked fine for 12 months, at which time a bearing went bad and was grinding. There is no declaration of warranty on the receipt, so I called the head office to see if they would stand behind the crappy alternator. They said there was a 30-day warranty, and they they couldn't do anything for me. I looked at the date of manufacture on the alternator test report and it was 6 years prior to install. I expect this unit sat in a warehouse for 6 yrs and that the bearings rusted. Extremely mad that they charged me so much for a lousy part that they would not stand behind.

Having to travel a good number of miles to complete my trip, I researched a tire store that could help me. I spoke on the telephone with the store manager, **. He assured me that if I could drop off my truck for just a short amount of time, he would repair the flat.

I went to a local restaurant in the meantime and within a very short time, ** called me and said the truck was ready. He even properly put the donut tire in the spare compartment where it belonged. I consider this to be outstanding customer service, helping an out-of-town stranger with a flat tire in a very short amount of time. ** was gracious and polite and I highly recommend that management recognize him for being an outstanding ambassador for Monro. SCAM!!! Do NOT go here unless you want them to steal your money. I purchased 2 tires here for $1600, yes $800+ per tire. I’m not disputing the cost even though it’s outrageous. No, the tires were not gold plated, just massive markup. They were only able to install one tire. They were not able to get the other tire off due to a wheel lock, which they stripped the key trying to take off incorrectly. I then went to purchase another wheel key on my own dime, again they stripped that too and still were not able to take the 2nd tire off. At that point, I just said, "Refund me for the 2nd tire" as I had already spent over 1 month and 4 trips to their location. Manager (Jesse) said he had to submit it to corporate and would take 2 weeks (funny how the charge only took 5 seconds).

So I’ve been dealing with corporate (Monro Auto Service) for over 2 months to get my $800+ refund. I’ve called them 4x, each time they acknowledge the refund due, but state they need a manager approval and would get back to me. Same story each time. So no refund and lots of wasted time. I’ve filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, as their charge and refund practices are illegal and super slim shady. FYI, don’t pay for all tires up front, only pay for what they install that day. So if you want to play Russian roulette with your hard-earned cash, take your chances. Otherwise, find another tire place that isn’t shifty and dishonest.

My father went to have his rear brakes serviced Lockport NY, and Christopher ** alarmed my 81-year-old dad by claiming that his rotors were rusted—not only the rear ones but all of them. It also turned out that the front brakes needed replacement. My dad, who is on a fixed income, had already signed the order, driven by fear for his safety while driving his truck. They charged him $1,538.96, which was not surprising. I requested that the old rotors be placed in the back of my dad's truck so I could have them inspected by his dealership in Medina, as they had previously informed him that only the rear brakes were necessary.

Rotors are prone to rust; this was an unethical sales tactic, and I can assure you that despite the warranties they attempt to sell, this location is desperate and solely driven by profit. I am going to send this bill to Monroe Directly with 3 quotes from PEP BOYS, HARTWAY MOTORS and MAVIS, basically saying the same thing. My old man was ripped off and lied to. I sure hope Chris gets those sales he's looking for. I am going corporate and keeping the rotors that I asked them to put BACK in his truck.

Monro Muffler, 3145 West Liberty Ave. Shop 565, Pittsburgh, PA 15216. On August 13th, I visited Monro for my annual inspection and emissions. I got a phone call from an employee from Monro. They said I needed rear brakes and rotors needed replaced. I said to do it. On the invoice replacing the brake pads cost a total of $199, including labor. Brake rotors cost $350, including labor. All in; 549.99. At the beginning of September when driving to get groceries I noticed a very loud clicking sound coming from the rear of my Jeep. I decided not to take my Jeep back to Monro, I called a local car repair shop near my home and had my Jeep at his shop later that week.

After inspecting things, here’s what he found: The right rear lower caliper bracket bolt was missing. The other bolt was loose. Monro installed all of my old hardware. I was missing two shims on the left rear side. There was plenty on lube on the bolts. No locktite was used. The rear driver side bolts were loose. The left rear upper guide pin was dry and no lube was used. All of the pad shims were not aligned to the pads. Overall, the cost was $251.

On Saturday September 14th I decided to pay a visit Monro on West Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, Pa. I met Manager: Ray. I asked him explain to me what work was done to my Jeep in August. He stated rear brakes and rotors were replaced, and the Jeep was inspected and emissions test was done. I showed Ray the invoice from the other shop. I then pulled out the old pads that showed the misalignment of the shims. I then asked Ray how can we make this “right”. Ray’s comeback was “if I wouldn’t have waited a month before coming back in”. I let Ray know that I work from home and I rarely drive nowadays. No apology, no responsibility taken; not even a “I’m sorry for your inconvenience." Quite sad…. He said he filed a complaint with corporate. I will be calling them next week. Beware of this place!

Total cost of rear brakes and rotors was 549. My car was placed in a bay that can't even perform alignments, and I was charged for TPMS valve stems that were never replaced. The manager responsible was fired for defrauding customers for years, but Monro has refused to refund me. Because of their negligence, my new tires are now damaged, voiding the manufacturer’s warranty. Monro’s only offer was to redo the service or refund me if I paid another shop upfront—both unacceptable given their history. The price I was charged for the muffler was nearly three times the retail cost of it from a local auto parts store, that's a unrealistic markup. Although there was an auto parts store within walking distance, I needed to wait almost 40 minutes for them to have a single muffler clamp delivered from the auto parts store they dealt with just to complete the job. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the recent service I received from Mr. Tire INC. I am very embarrassed to involve you in this matter because I’m sure you have much more greater things to do. I tried to resolve the issue with your store manager ** but it wasn’t resolved. That’s why I’m reaching out to you. I visited your store twice in last 3 months months for a brake pads and rotor change job. I visited your store at 1800 Vestal Pkwy East, Vestal, NY 13850. I spoke with your store manager ** and he recommended me that I take advantage of the lifetime warranty on sets of front brake pads and rotor. He also advised that, I would hold on to the rear brakes because they’re still in good shape. I paid almost $1200 for the front and rear brake pads and rotors. And I was extremely disappointed with the outcome.

I requested that your staff install the new rotors and brake pads on my vehicle, which I expected to be high-quality and reliable. However, upon inspection after the service was completed, I was shocked to discover that my car had been fitted with old in-house rotors and brake pads. This is unacceptable, as I specifically requested premium parts for my vehicle. I have always trusted Mr. Tire INC to provide quality service, but I feel that I have been let down on this occasion. Furthermore, I noticed a decrease in performance of my vehicle’s braking system after the service was performed.

I took it back to Mr. Tire and spoke with ** the store manager. I have informed him about the performance of my vehicle and asked him to change the rear rotors and brake pads. He told me that everything is good and now it fine. After the second job, my vehicle’s performance got worse. This is particularly concerning, as it puts my safety and the safety of other road users at risk. I took my vehicle to the dealership and they checked my rotors and brakes pads. I was shocked to hear that Mr. Tire put old in-house parts on my vehicle.

Next day brake light back on and brake fluid puddle under the vehicle with brake light on! Went back to monro muffler to verify what they say is I don’t have a leak and of course the Manager find a leak within 5 minutes! Now another $400 in repairs and no compensation! Don’t go here! Bad business! They will take your money and have you paying for things your car doesn’t need and avoid the actual problem!!! Beware!!!

Took my car in for an oil change, they drained the oil and called me stating it was going to cost me over $400 as my drain plug was stripped and their company requires the have to replace the oil pan also. I had to have it towed elsewhere. They are obviously trained to upsell and rip people off.
