I emailed today and the email was returned and the site says it is under construction. DO NOT PURCHASE A WARRANTY FROM "AMERICAN FIRST AUTO PROTECT". I even did all the background checks and called the dealership to make certain that they worked with this agency and they did. So frustrated.

Purchased agreement in 2021 and had no difficulty contacting agent once decision made to purchase. However, it is extremely difficult to contact this company to file a claim. Made many attempts by phone and have now sent a email to them to try to get someone to respond. I would give them a 0 star rating if I could. No company should make it this difficult to file a claim.

After purchasing the auto warranty in May I went to use it July after having a parking brake Issue. The dealership explained the situation and the warranty company canceled the inspector and said it was impossible that this was not a pre-existing issue. After proving that the car was in the shop 45 days prior for a warranty covered issue and yearly maintenance and this issue did not occur.

I have since July 1 placed 15 calls. The claims agents Extension 118 is always busy, not accepting calls and can't leave voicemails and the salesman Barry is no longer with the company. I wanted to provide proof that this was not a pre-existing issue. I also tried Colin and wrote a email and requested a refund after not hearing or receiving any call back or responses. This company has the worst customer service I have ever seen. STAY AWAY. All they want is to take your money and after they have it you can't get ahold of them on any extension but if you go to buy a warranty they will absolutely call you in less than 4 hours.

I paid this company $2500 for a 5-Year/100,000 mile extended warranty. They can offer such unbelievable warranties because they don't honor the warranty. You will only get a live person when signing up for the warranty. After they get your money, you will only get voicemails or a foreign sounding guy saying the claim department is closed. Don't trust this company. Most companies have technology that allows claim filing online... However, with this company, you must call and that's where the black hole begins...

March 4, 2022, I purchased a Platinum “bumper to bumper” warranty for my 2015 Audi A6 TDI from American First Auto Protect’s Barry ** for $3,000.00 which was to begin April 4, 2022. April 18th I received an e-mail from a Colin ** with an attachment entitled; American First Auto Protect Contract – Platinum.pdf entitled Service Agreement.

May 6th 2022 I brought my Audi A6 to Audi dealership for service and repair of the MMI pop up screen which went black and displayed no information. I left the Service Technician a note with the claim assistance phone number of AmericanFirst Auto Protect (AFAP) to discuss the repairs needed and the coverage. The Service Technician at Audi of Mendham called AFAP “at least 8-10 times” and the call would go to a voice mail service and he couldn’t leave a voice mail, “the mailbox was full”. He later sent me an e-mail describing his attempts to reach AFAP which I have attached. The estimate to repair the MMI screen was $1,103.91 plus tax.

On May 7, 2022 I placed a call to Barry ** who was to be my personal contact at AFAP, and a man named Eric ** picked up the phone. As I inquired into the ability to place a claim he began to get insulting and I asked to speak with someone else. Eric passed the phone to Colin ** to which I told my story of Audi dealership trying to submit a claim and we tried to call Audi together on a conference caIl but the technician was not there (I think this was a Saturday). I further informed Colin that I was dissatisfied with their operation of their business, thought their entire business was a scam and I wanted my money back. He assured me he was going to call Audi the following week. Audi received no calls for AFAP and I had not heard back from Colin **.

When I purchased the AFAP warranty I was specifically told that a claim cannot be made for a period of one month from the date of the warranty contract. This is not for the immediate coverage of existing necessary repairs but more for the Visa and Master Card Fraud claims limit of 1 month from purchase that the MC or V will not cover fraud claims.

The AFAP agreement states that claims must be initiated by the person purchasing the warranty, not by the repair facility that is going to perform the repairs and that AFAP must give authorization for the repairs prior to any repair being done. Every other extended warranty I had on a car, the dealership or repair shop worked directly with the warranty company. How am I supposed to know what needs to be repaired better than the service technicians at the dealership. This business is scam. Do Not buy from them.

Updated on 08/10/2022: Update: Now the guy who I spoke with me is filling out auto and home warranties request on my behalf as well now. I've received about 6 calls this morning that I answered and they are using different cars to enroll me now. AZAG is opening investigation on them. I call and spoke with my case worker. Avoid them!! Scam is they will take your money, they will try to get you to pay the entire policy if possible and even though you follow all their guidelines awaiting the 30 days 1000 miles they will deny your claim claiming everything is preexisting also miles don't matter them. Everything is preexisting. I know people that have lost thousands Everyone vigilant. I have a question for Trustpolit how much vetting do you do to these new companies to protect consumers a little better?

Original Review: (Extended warranty) So I bought a used Discovery sport and I ended finding this company online because the current company I had was too expensive for a Land Rover. I've only own the vehicle 1.5 month. The car had 66000 miles when I bought car. I send miles to American First and they said they could cover my car. They wanted me to pay for the entire policy but I don't do that for good reason. So I ask if they had a payment plan he stated yes. So I paid $500 with $80a month. Also waiting period of 1000 miles and a 30 day waiting period on top of that. My last day to wait was the 25th of May. I've had no problems with the vehicle till about a week ago. Notice it was low on coolant. No leak detected the first day, so I filled it up.

On the 3rd day I noticed coolant on my driveway SO I took a look and found leak coming from radiator. I called American First to let them know and the guy states to just take car to my preferred mechanic and they can work with them, So I do. Now today they still have not approved my repairs and I need my car. I've been on hold with them for about 1.5 hours today just waiting on them to tell me what the hold up is. Also they charged twice in one month on top of this. This company is charging me twice a month and not approving my repairs. Not sure what is going on. I have a feeling they are trying to deny my claim. Why does it take a week to approve a claim. They say it takes 24 hours but they have it since last week on Wednesday. I'm still on hold reaching 2 hours! Case number is ** at BBB.

UPDATE!! They never came back to the phone. Left me on hold for 3 hours. Great Customer service!! Update. So I was right. They denied my claim and called preexisting? Also they got on the phone screaming that I was being inconsiderate. So I yelled back. What a prick! Come to find out it was a welding joint that had broken and they call that preexisting. Buyer Beware and look at their BBB rating. It's an FFFFFF. If I can save someone some money I hope this helps. They don't pay claims. They put them as preexisting even if you just bought the car 2 days prior to adding warranty.

Colin said the full refund would be processed within 3-5 business days, it has now been 7 business days and no refund still. I have been on hold with accounting for over 25 minutes now.

I purchased a 3-year warranty policy on my 2011 Land Rover for a one-time charge of $2500 which I paid in full on November 2021. Today, I received my credit card statement to learn that American First had unexpectedly charged my card on May 12, 2022 an UNAUTHORIZED $999. Seems, according to reviews on YELP, unauthorized charging of customers is a SOP by American First. Curiously, in New York state the amount of fraud required for grand larceny is >$1,000. Coincidence? I suspect not.

I would not recommend American First Auto Protect (AFAP) to anyone. You won't get any protection as you won't get the service promised or hardly anyone or anyone honest on the phone. I have only and consistently received POOR or no service since I signed up with them in the fall of 2021. The first time service was needed, my car had to sit for three days on the lot of the auto repair shop as no one would pick up when the auto shop or I called. The reimbursement for the towing that was involved has yet to be paid and this was in January. Another incident occurred about March and the only thing that's been consistent is the poor service and continued lies about when the towing reimbursements, supposedly May 22 for both incidents, was to be received. It's May 31st.

Consumer Affairs I STRONGLY urge you to either more frequently or more substantively vet this company. In the meantime, I am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and other similar entities. My only satisfaction will be the return of the ENTIRE amount that I paid up front for their highest level of protection, rather, no protection.

As all good consumers, one has to crunch the numbers and compare plans and prices with other companies. This takes time. However, there was high high pressure to sign up and buy the warranty. In between working and raising a small child, this takes time. I requested a contract so that I can read it and see the exclusions. This was done, albeit begrudgingly and was still in the process of reading it. Three days later, I received a phone call from a very aggressive and short tempered salesman. The same one that I have been dealing with (I have his name if anyone wants.) Fortunately, I record every conversation that I have, and I recorded this wimp of a man berate me because I hadn't made the purchase yet. He literally told me:

    A. Not to waste his time anymore.
    B. I am worthless.
    C. They don't want my business.
    D. Not to call back.

    E. I am a **.

He then hung up on me. I have the recording, I was so shocked that all I could do was remain speechless. Needless to say, I would love to talk to someone about this.

I called American First and from then, I had the most awesome man ever, Michael, telling me I had a bumper-to-bumper coverage. It didn't matter if it was a windshield wiper, it was covered. Everything was covered. He was a really good guy and I loved him. But they did keep calling me a little bit too much and they wouldn't leave me alone. Even though I told Michael that I would pay him at the end of the month, I would still get 10 calls between then.

Forty-five days later, I took the car to Les Schwab because the sway bar was bad and the rotors were dangerous. It was unsafe for a two-year-old to be in. Les Schwab told us that after we did the work, they were not going to submit the claims for American First to pay because they can't get money out of these people. They would call, and call, and call for days, and they couldn't get their money. The work was already done so we paid for it.

I submitted the claim to Michael but he told me that I needed to submit it to somebody else. He didn't give me any information. So I called somebody else and I talked to the manager that completely told me that I need to stop talking or he ain’t gonna pay me. I told him, “It’s not your company, bro. What are you talking about?” Then he put me on with his manager. His manager completely told me the same thing. He had enough nerve to tell me that people like me that don’t have a degree needs to understand what policies are like. I told him, “How do you know I don’t have a degree? Who are you, and who are you to talk to somebody like that?” He also said to me, “Well, I’m telling you, if you don’t lower your voice, I’m not paying you.” I told him that I’m a customer and I paid them $1,600 for nothing and for him to tell me that I need to lower my voice. American First Auto Protect is the worst company. I would never go to this company again.
