I've been contacting this company for 5 months now trying to get the situation resolved, the customer service is absolutely useless. My sister and I filled out the paperwork exactly the same way and hers was approved and mine was filed a different way. (The wrong way) I've been trying to get this resolved for the last 3 months and it's not getting anywhere still. I was given a deadline that the paperwork had to be turned in, I had questions with the paperwork because obviously they need me to fill it out differently for some reason and I can't seem to get the lady handling my case to call me back to explain what I need to do. At this point it's looking like I'm not going to get the money like I'm supposed to. What a hassle to deal with, especially after losing my dad.

NEVER use this company if you want your loved ones to ever benefit from your investment. Allianz customer service has been a total NIGHTMARE to deal with for 3 solid MONTHS. We have submitted estate paperwork by mail and electronically multiple times and each time they ask for it again in yet a different way. We've worked with 9 other financial accounts for this estate and all of them easily resolved within a few weeks. This ongoing horror doesn't appear to have an end in sight.

Poor customer service. I submitted a simple address change. It has been over a month and the change has still not been made. I have called three times, spent over an hour on the phone while they "looked into it". I have submitted 2 requests online and have communicated through their chat. My broker called to request action. They still will not make the address change. Each time I call they say "we are in the process of making the change, call us next week." When I call, they simply repeat what they told me in our last conversation.

I would caution you from doing business with Allianz Life Insurance Company. Upon my parent's death, Allianz liquidated an inherited taxable account without my permission. When confronted with their mistake, they refused to return the funds into my account and I was forced to pay a significant tax that I had planned to avoid by taking the inheritance slowly over a period of years. Investors should use caution when moving forward.

I called today and ask to speak to a manager and the representative gave me a hard time. Finally after being on hold for 5 minutes she returned to say a manager would call me in 30 minutes. Needless to say no return call after 60 minutes so I called back. This time spoke to a different rep. and again very difficult to understand and didn't want to get a manager for me unless I told him why. Finally he said he would get me a manager and after waiting on hold only to be told a manager would call me back in one hour. It has been 2 hours since my call and still no return call.
I have to say I have annuities with other companies and have never had to go through what I have today to speak to a manager. If they want us to speak to their call center representative about our issue they should hire people that speak English so we can understand what they are trying to say. I highly recommend that you do not buy your annuity through Allianz not only is their customer service horrible their agents that sell their products are just as bad. Once they have you roped into a contract you never hear from them again. They do not explain about the annuity in its entirety. Again I would not recommend dealing with Allianz.

I have a number of accounts with Allianz and have nothing but great servcie from them. I have called them on many occasions and have had not issue. Allianz does ask a great job for me. Also, for the fifth year in a row Interbrand have ranked Allianz as the world's number one insurer in their Best Global Brands Ranking. With a global brand value topping 20.85 billion US dollars for the first time, Allianz has moved up three places to #31– among the fastest growing global brands. They do not have money issue. I have never had issues with them when I wanted to take money out. When they ask for the correct information to send you money they do it to protect you from fraud.

When I was in Long Term Care facility. Allianz said they would STOP charging the annual fee, but they didn't, this unexpected $3k+ withdrawal created several NSF fees at my credit union. The next year, they said they would withdraw the money then return it, but they only withdrew the money - and now the annual fee was over 4k. I contacted my Credit Union to disable the autopay for next year, they provided a few options like sending Allianz a letter, maybe this would have worked because before it was phone conversations, but I decided to close my account to protect my account.
PS - I paid them thousands of dollars a year, for about 25 years, and I never received a dime because I am a retired veteran with full benefits, so it was my $75k ish mistake to sign up for this, but the last 7k they took when they said they wouldn't/or would return it shows what type of company they are.

Contacted the company on December 19th, they put a stop payment on the check and it was to be reissued with correct name and that would the no more than 15 days. Have given the benefit of doubt to the company and called back on January 16th, was told it is with the claims department and to call back in 2 days. Called back on the 18th. Was told the exact same thing. It's with the claims department. Called again on January 26th. Told the exact same thing. Wait 5 more days. I have had an annuity with them since 2014. Nearly every year I have taken the minimum distribution, they have made errors! This year, I sent the form in 3 weeks early. Called them to insure they received it and they did. However, they said the IRS form they sent me last year was out of date, but that they would handle it there. I not only checked the box for no minimum tax to be withheld, I hand-wrote in a note to that effect. Even though I had a canceled check on file for direct deposit, in past years, they mailed a check, causing a 6-week delay.
Today when I called in and told them of their error, they said there was nothing that could be done. I asked for a supervisor, and the man repeated that there was nothing he could do. When I asked for his name and HIS supervisor, he pretended that the call was breaking up (it wasn't) and hung up!!! Now I will have to litigate to get back the money that their incompetence cost me!!! BEWARE!!! They don't care about the little investor!!!

Bought this Annuity in 2006. The saleman was very smooth talking, but left out many facts..Never told me you have to be over 60 to begin taking out of an Annuity. Also said how great the returns would be. Did not state how Allianz keeps changing the rules to make it impossible to realize a positive return..In 2006 the capped monthly rate was 3%. In 2023 the monthly cap is now 1.5%.. Even though the markets were up 20% in my 12 month period I did not make a cent last year. This is because the cap can only go up 1.5% but can go down 100%.. I am trying to withdraw money now. I hope things are not as bad as all the reviews show.

DO NOT invest with Allianz. They take your money and provide horrible customer service. When you purchase an annuity they do not explain the limited withdrawal process. If you call their 1800 number you will wait forever until a subcontractor in India picks up the phone. You are then put on hold again (up to 30 minutes) while they verify your account. Then you are told to go to their website to request financial account information. I had two annuities and closed out both. Their penalty charges are insane, but this is what they do to hold your hard-earned money hostage. When you do make a withdrawal there is always a delay or they send your funds to an incorrect bank account. Then you wait weeks for them to straighten out their blunder. This is their game. Do yourself and your money a favor, invest with someone else or bury your money in the backyard, it will be safer.

Only that page needed to be submitted. To be safe, I resubmitted the entire form with the correct year. I waited again. No check. Called was advised my address had changed. No change. I have a mailing PO Box and a physical home address. Banks list physical addresses on checks. My check had the physical address. The federal form had my mailing address. The funds are being transferred to my bank, not mailed. Allianz stated they were confused. Mind you processing is in business days. I was advised it would take another 3-5 days to process my withdrawal. It’s now February 6th. I have yet to receive a funds transfer. Originally, I was advised that withdrawals are processes within 5 days.

Every negative review on this company is spot on. I inherited an Allianz annuity 7 years ago. At that time it was a nightmare to reach a real person on the phone and messages were never returned. My agent was no help and I learned through documented email conversations that the agent who sold my father the annuity promised benefits that did not exist. I finally had to hire an attorney to deal with Allianz out if sheer frustration. After months the attorney was able to get answers and payments were initiated. We also pursued a grievance against the agent and Allianz in both two states, to no avail.
5 years later the Allianz annuity began reporting taxable income. I have spent a year trying just to get tax withholding implemented and it’s another nightmare. I submitted the appropriate forms with one checkmark not ticked off in the federal form. Return letters said the federal form needed to be resubmitted and that the state withholding was implemented. I submitted federal form again. Months later I found state withholding was not implemented. So called customer service (in India somewhere) and was assured state withholding would be implemented. It never was, nor has federal. I sent Allianz a letter outlining all my efforts to establish withholding and clearly stated what I wanted withheld and to date, 6 months later have not received the courtesy of any response at all. This is a horrible company with zero customer service. I would not recommend to my worst adversary. Run, don’t walk, as fast as you can from this company.

My financial Adviser sold me this product more than 20 years ago. It was fine when I didn't have to do anything except paying them a service fee annually, until I had to start dealing with them, like taking an annual RMD. I faxed them a request 5 years ago and I never got a response from them. So after two days, I called them and after 30 min. wait, was told they never got it. So I faxed another one. Before I knew it, I received all two of them doubling the amount I needed. When I called them, and talked to at least 4 people, and they told me they would put this back into my account only for this time, like it was my fault. I ended up paying more on my taxes that year because the correction was not made until 3 years later. Each time I called, I would stayed on the phone for at least 1 hour and talked to 4-5 people and would be given only empty promises.
Every year when it is RMD withdrawal time I went through hassles after hassles, sending emails after emails and talking to one agent and another, and never got a straight answer. This year, after I withdrew my RMD, I got another one in the mail without my authorization, so I sent it back. No response for a month, so I sent them an email inquiring about it and asked them if they redeposited it into my account, instead I received a form for a RMD withdrawal again! I only have one request per year and can't even receive it without grief. VERY FRUSTRATING!!

Evidently their business model is to collect life insurance premiums and make the claims process nearly impossible. I've been a practicing attorney for 20 years and I struggled with it. Had my 78 year old mother had to handle this herself, Allianz would most likely have won the battle and kept the 50 years worth of premiums my father invested to ensure her security. Collecting on one of his policies with another company involved one pleasant 10 minute phone call. It doesn't have to be this way. Allianz makes it this way.

In December 2006 I was looking to roll over a 401(k) into an IRA. A friend recommended Allianz which offered a new product called an indexed annuity. The rep praised this product as it had no downside risk. If the market went up, the account values went up. In the event that the market went down in a given year, the investment would not ever go below the 2% mark. He however failed to mention that this complex contract had a NEVERENDING SURRENDER CHARGE. The only way to access the money in the future would be to take a monthly income. The initial investment was $51,000. After 14 years of a great stock market run, my account had only $89,517 in it. That alone is really poor performance in my opinion.
The truly sad part is that it's now the end of 2020 and I would like to have all my money. I called and spoke with a "live" person who told me that if I wanted a full surrender, I would only receive $62,870. Really? The surrender penalty is the difference between the two numbers, i.e. $26,647. I was astounded and angry. There was no way around it and I have sustained a loss, but I am writing to warn other potential clients of this company to beware of their representatives who misrepresent what they sell.

When I first moved some of my money from my 401K to Allianz, the broker didn't even submit my correct Social Security number that identifies my account and then tried to blame it on me and said I wasn't doing something right when I was trying to set my account up online with my contract number. After making several more phone calls and then finally talking to the broker's daughter that was decent enough to listen to me instead of turning it around on me and saw that they submitted my Social Security number wrong so they had to send me a form to fill it out to get my SSN right. That was the first issue. After the first year I got my statement I was shocked that I had only received a 1.45% interest rate and then I found out the broker wasn't even a fiduciary but yet my coworker said they received a 6% interest rate that year but they did invest more money than I did.
I called Allianz and then they reassigned me to a fiduciary without letting me know anything until I got a call from the new broker that was a fiduciary so I signed the paperwork to have it transferred. This year has been one thing after another with me and I needed to get some of my money and they made it so hard to get my money and they are on the other side of town from me. It would have been nice if Allianz had given me a fiduciary broker that was closer to me. Anyway, the broker said I had to come in to sign my forms to get my money and would not fax or mail it to me but said I had to come in. I drove for 2 hours yesterday just trying to find the office that is over 35 miles away from me and I never could find them. I called the office several times trying to find out how to get there and I still couldn't find them so I finally gave up and said called them back and told them to forget it.
The lady I was talking to at first was really sweet and trying to help but when another girl got on the phone with me she was rude. After that I was done and just said forget it again and that I'm turning around to go home and she said, "You have to come in and sign this form" and I had to keep telling her I was done and she repeated herself again and finally had to hang up on her because she wasn't going to listen anyway. Not only was she rude, she was confrontational, I hate confrontation and driving around in circles was giving me anxiety and the girl being confrontational gave me more anxiety. On my way home I called the company that I have my 401K with that I took out to put in an IRA based on the first broker's big talk that she did not deliver on. I have not had a good experience with this company and will never do business with this company again.

This company makes money off of people not understanding what they purchased. More specifically the company doesn't just takes people's money and doesn't provide a service. Nor do they refund the money for people who did not understand what they purchased because they don't clearly explain it in the sales portal for Live Nation. They don't actually fully insure your tickets. They just insure them grade school style and don't have a comprehensive set of "acceptable" terms to not attend. After your purchase you will be interrogated on the phone by offshore customer service that is completely non-sympathetic to how you might feel. While on the phone you will be pushed to file a ticket online rather than having the representative do any sort of work.

Death and the loss of a family member this difficult enough, then comes Allianz. They are not a real Life company and their products sketchy at best. Poor correspondence or complete lack of. The short of the story is: it took them 3 weeks and calls and emails to get the correct department/person to tell me the policy was closed on 1-28-2010 and could offer no proof and refused to do so in writing. I can only hope that you never have the need to file a claim. I guess that is why their CEO is in the top 100 highest paid in the US and has homes all over the world. Other insurance companies we have filed on were great. This is just an investment company with poor customer service.

Wow. This company could be the worst financial/insurance company I have ever dealt with. After my father passed away unexpectedly in July and my mother is trying to recover from a major stroke she had in 2016 this company will not pay out proceeds of a husband's retirement account to a grieving widow. Why you say because according to this company's records they did not have an updated beneficiary on file (but original beneficiary signed and completed naming spouse). This company refuses to pay out the hard-earned retirement benefits to his wife of 61 years, even though they lived in the community property state of CA where by law there must be spousal consent for anyone other than the spouse to be named as a beneficiary on a retirement account. They do not and WILL NOT work with you to find solutions.
Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired as it took me 3 months to speak to someone because I was not named as authorized contact on the policy. Did not seem to matter to them that the policyholder had died! Their excuses for why they cannot pay out funds make zero sense. After fighting with this company for 3 months to pay out annuity claim they still will not pay money to a grieving widow without a court order. Now we have no other choice but to hire an attorney and spend thousands of $ to reclaim money that rightfully belongs to the spouse. Trust me this is the last company you would ever want to give your hard earned money to.
If there is an oversight years and years ago do not expect them to have any compassion and or any solutions to help a grieving family. THEY COULD CARE LESS. Although many other financial companies have solutions in these cases to default the beneficiary to the spouse first, and will work with you to come up with easy solutions to help solve the problem, this company does not!!!
Please do not do business with this company but if you do, be sure you are 1000% that all paperwork is complete down to the last detail. Because if it is not you can expect to spend thousands of $ in attorney and court fees just to collect your own family's money at truly one of the worst possible times of your life. Not to mention the amount of time it takes to go through this entire process.

My Allianz advisor explained everything very well and continues to as the years progress. I have several annuities: IRA, Roth and regular. The reason I decided on annuities was because I was tired of losing value on my investments especially after black Monday and other significant downturns in the market. The fact that I never lose what the annual value is after my interest is added (which has varied from a fixed rate to over 14%). Now that I have to take out my RMD on my IRA, Allianz processes the RMD after I let them know how much I want taken out for Federal and State taxes. Very pleased.

I met with an Allianz Life representative at my workplace in 2005. When I retired in 2007 I turned my pension and 401(k) over to him. My wife and I were told that the product our money was going into would only grow, and that we wouldn't lose any money - that we would only be drawing on the interest our investment drew. We were told that any interest earned over what we withdrew each month would be added to the capital. My wife even asked how this was possible; how could Allianz have any income when all our interest was coming to us. We were told that the company had so many money-making investments around the world that they could guarantee our growth.
As the next several months passed, I would try to read the statements I was receiving on our accounts. Being unable to decipher what I was seeing, I contacted the agent and asked for a meeting to discuss this. The arrangements were made and on the appoint date and time we met. I handed him my statement and asked him how to read it. He opened it, looked at it for only a few seconds, refolded it and handed it back to me. "You have more money now that when you opened the account, which is what I told you would happen," he stated. I asked how that was determined, to which he responded, "Let me take care of this. Okay?" At that point I should have made some demands. But I didn't. I thought our money was in good hands.
In June, 2018 the direct deposit which should have been made to our checking account on one of the Allianz accounts wasn't made. Thinking probably a computer glitch, I waited until the next day. Again no deposit. I called Allianz. Imagine my chagrin when I was told my account did NOT contain enough money to make the deposit without drawing down to what they considered a "closed account", which meant if I drew my monthly allotment the account would be reduced to less than $10,000. At that point, taxes would be taken out and the remainder deposited to our checking account! My 247,000 dollars was now a little over $11,000! The money that we were told would increase had been steadily decreasing!
We have since contacted another financial advisor and have turned what little remains of our "safe investment" over to him. The only thing I have to say is, DO NOT TRUST ALLIANZ LIFE OR ANY COMPANY ASSOCIATED WITH THEM!! If you will Google Allianz Life, you will see numerous complaints and lawsuits filed against them.

In 2008 an agent for this company convinced me and my wife to transfer money from an IRA into a variable retirement annuity. My investments at that time was more in more riskier funds. One month I would make a few hundred dollars and the next month I would lose a couple of hundred dollars. I told the agent I was wanting a more stable return. He then told us about another fund where our money would double in ten years. When I received statements it always showed that my 17000 would be 34000 and was available to me in 2018. I never had a reason to call the agent because he told me and my wife our money would double.
So I called him last month and was shocked as he explained that I could only receive approximately 1300 a year for the rest of my life or receive 113 dollars a month. Now my wife and I are not complete idiots. We are both college graduates and have managed our other monies well over the years. To get back my full 34000 it would take me about 26 years. I am almost 60 so I would be 86 years old before I could actually get the investment return I was promised.
To make matters worse my initial 17000 dollars has lost value down to 14250 dollars. In the last ten years the agent never made any changes to the funds he originally invested my money. Doesn't a good agent track things like that and make changes or at least call the investor to say, "Hey I think we should do something different." Also the agent told me the company quit selling this product several years ago. Why didn't the agent notify clients like myself when the company deemed this product of poor quality.
Today I have had no other recourse than to get another company to transfer these funds to a traditional IRA account. Also when I contacted Allianz to get a copy of my contract and a delivery ticket I found no signatures whatsoever on this contract. Also I received a separate letter telling me that a delivery ticket is not a legal requirement in the state I live in. I feel activities like this are fraudulent and people should be aware of scams to get your money. In my experience I could never recommend anyone to do business with Allianz. It is my hope that people who read this will learn from my mistakes despite the fact that my biggest mistake was doing business with this particular agent. I am now more mistrusting of other financial and embarrassed to even tell others what happened.

We were told the money had been sent and it did not come. We were told it could not be made out to me, the owner, we were told it was sent by regular mail, overnighted, etc. none of which actually occurred. It took 3 months to finally receive the check! I am POA for an elderly man who has had several annuities with Allianz. My negative experience began when I noticed that there was an error on his beneficiaries on his online account. A large percentage of the annuity was to go to a church and they had typed in a church that we had never even heard of. When I called them to correct the error I waited on hold for somewhere between 20 and 30 mins. I asked them to take my number in case I was cut off so they would be able to call me back so I would not have to wait on hold again.
This obviously offended the girl and she said, "What can I help you with?" I asked her if there was a problem with me asking that, and told her I just didn't want to have to wait in line again. This started us off on the wrong foot. After I explained why I was calling she informed me that in order to have it corrected that I needed to fill out a new form to make the change. I told her that I was not making a change, that they could use the form that I had already sent in as it had the correct information on it, they merely needed to correct the error that THEY had made.
The rep became very hard and insisted that nothing would be done until I sent in new forms. I asked for a manager, and she said that I would not get a different response. I did speak to another person who also told me the same thing. About a week later I received a copy of the form that I had sent into them letting me know the correction had been. Obviously it had gotten into the right hands of someone who made sense of what I was saying.
Next we had a problem with receiving a payment from them because of a detail that we had forgotten about that we were not qualified to receive more than 5 withdrawals and we chose to then annuitize the policy. (With this I felt that instead of waiting for "snail mail" they should also have tried to contact us by email in order to speed up the process. So, close to two weeks had gone by before we knew that there was even a problem.) After calling and finding out what the problem was and making the change to get it expedited, there was to be a wire transfer into the account within three days. This was on a Wednesday and because of the weekend we fully expected it not to be until Monday.
By Tuesday afternoon it had not arrived yet. So, I called my bank and told them that Allianz said it should have been there by now, so they encouraged me to call and get a tracking number so they could try to locate the payment. I called Allianz and was told that it had been done the day before and it should show up within 24 hours. When it didn't, I called again on Wednesday. At this point I received the same stubborn attitude from the rep as I did with the first issue. It "seemed" as though there had been a note written on the account to alert them that this customer was difficult and not worthy of their respect. Either that, or I had the same rep as with the first issue and she remembered my determination from then.
This rep told me that it had not been sent until Tuesday, not Monday, and very emphatically insisted that it takes 24-48 hours. I asked for the tracking number so that I would not have to call back in again if it didn't show up, so that I would not have to hold again for another 30 mins. Whew! This really caused her to "bristle" and she told me I could not have the tracking number because it had not been 48 hours... I needed to wait until then. I asked her why I couldn't just have the tracking number so I wouldn't have to call back in again. I asked what was wrong with me having the tracking number? (Maybe I'm wrong, but all of my experiences in having anything sent with a tracking number, you receive the number JUST IN CASE you need it).
So... to put it in a nutshell... the customer service department is HORRID!!! They know they have you over a barrel and flat out refuse to try to meet your need... and seemingly delight in knowing that they have frustrated you. Needless to say, if I COULD have, I would have removed every dollar that had been entrusted to them. What's worse? I have no way of knowing how to contact someone higher up in their company to let them know the reputation that their customer service department gives them. I believe it's only fair to any company to let them know what's going on before walking away from them or giving them a bad review. But as far as I know I have no other alternative. Of all the institutions out there, the ones who hold another man's money ought to treat them with respect... does a signed contract... having your hands tied mean it's ok? I don't think so... not if your reputation makes or breaks you.

My siblings and I chose our method and timing of disbursement late January or early February. Approximately May 19th, 2016 we received a letter from Allianz with header of "Complaint Determination: Justified". The letter contained a lot of legalese but stated "Because the complaint has been determined to be "Justified," you are being offered a single cash payment of a full refund of your share of the funds paid into the above-mentioned annuity, less any funds removed." The amount offered was approximately 41% of each of our portion of our annuitization value. In bold print the second paragraph began, "You are not required to accept this relief. Accepting this relief award would result in your receiving an additional cash payment. If you do not wish to accept this payment you should do nothing and not accept the relief offer.
Confused, we had our attorney draft a letter for clarification. Response stated our father had logged the complaint. Our father had not even written a check. My sister handled all his business affairs after our mother passed away in 2010. We were advised by our attorney that accepting our "Justified" cash payment would result in the surrender of the balance of our policies. Considering an Allianz annuity? Allianz Life insurance Company of North America holds an Annuity we purchased some 30 ago; The fund performed very poorly however we kept it because it had a guaranteed death benefit of $50,000. After my husband turned about 70 Allianz kept trying to put it into annuitization. We kept declining this. In 2015 we notified them that we wanted the maturity date postponed to the 100 year age limit (which now they conveniently have no record of). On July 12 2016 our broker received a letter and form to be signed by husband and I, to postpone annuitization. The form was filled out, dated and signed and returned however it was a couple days late, as the requested response date was 20 July as we were out of the country.
In the meantime our broker also received a letter on July 14 stating the annuity had gone into a non-revocable annuitization, which was six days prior to the requested response date, of July 20th. A few days later the first check arrived and was dated August 1; which we have not cashed. We tried many times to reach out and communicate with Allianz and explain that we had indeed filed the paper to postpone the maturity date to the 100 year age limit in 2015; As well as via our broker in 2016. We finally were able to speak with a supervisor (Jamie) who advised us our case would be reviewed by the accommodation committee, after several phone calls; they finally returned a call to us they stated that they would not revoke the decision and return it to annuity status. Because I could not prove we had signed and returned the form which extended the maturity date to the 100 year age limit; as it was sent via regular mail.
Allianz states they had sent a request prior to the forced annuitization, which we did not receive. They did not mention the same form to postpone the annuity to the 100 year age limit which was faxed to them by our investment broker July 2016. Seems to us they had already made their decision, (July 14) as no life Insur. Co. wants to pay out the death benefit which is much greater than the market value of annuity.
Upon further review, nowhere, on said form does it state the form needs to be returned via registered mail. (however Jamie at Alliance indicated that because it wasn't, we had no recourse) We have also reviewed our original contract, no where do we see anything that states Allianz has the right to put the annuity into forced annuitization without our specific consent to begin receiving monthly payments. (as neither of us have reached the 100 year age limit)
We have requested that Allianz provide us a copy of the contract, and specifically indicate where it states we must begin annuitization prior to age 100. Which they have not done so yet. We have discovered Allianz has a bad reputation for trying to take advantage of the elderly. Seems they intimidate and distort facts to confuse people into accepting Allianz's decision. This imposes a hardship on the elderly who rely on the death benefit to cover their final expenses. BAD COMPANY!!!! BEWARE.

My father has had an annuity/Life Insurance policy with Allianz since 2012. He has never taken any income from the annuity as of this time. He is in an Assisted Living Facility and is not mentally or physically capable of managing his own finances. In June 2016 I received a letter stating that there had been an address change for his policy. I checked the property tax records for the new address and found that the house belonged to someone with the same name. Considering the fact that you have to provide the account number, previous address, and last 4 of social prior to conducting any business with Allianz, it is inconceivable how this could happen.
I then logged onto his account online and the account was there, but the money was GONE!!! I then called the automated customer service number and when I entered his last 4, the computer said there was no record of that number. Then I had to drive 3 hours to have him sitting next to me while he gave them permission to talk with me about the account (he lives by my sister now, but she has a business to run). When we gave the HUMAN on the phone his last 4, she said that # was not associated with the account. After going round and round about the situation, her conclusion was that he was receiving statements on an account that was not his.
I believe we have it straightened out now (after about a week). Had he been childless, without an advocate, he would not have found out that he was broke for at least a year. By then, they would have written him off as a senile old man. He would have been kicked out of the ASL facility and placed in a run down government/medicare approved facility, where they pack them in like sardines and the paint is peeling off the walls (I've seen those facilities when he went in for rehab).
It is absolutely MIND BLOWING how this could have happened. The employee responsible should have been fired IMMEDIATELY if not put in jail. I reported their actions to Florida Elder Abuse hotline (just to get it on record) and to Florida Dept of Financial Services and submitted a complaint (again to get it on record). If it happened to him, it's happened to others.
It will haunt me for years when I remember an old lady in a nursing home my dad had stayed in for rehab. She told me the court assigned someone (an attorney I think), to handle her affairs. She told me, "they took all my money. Now they just move me from one nursing home to another." Her room was barren of personal items except 2 photos. A lifetime of memorabilia was gone. I wrote her off as being senile. Now it saddens me immensely that she may have been telling the truth. So not only does the policy pay an absolute MINIMAL amount of interest (No matter what the broker says), but their handling of customer's retirement savings is REPREHENSIBLE!! The stress they caused my family is INEXCUSABLE!

Started with a IRA account that I presume will be doing well! Then proceeded to add another acct, a investment acct... with non-qualified funds. Allianz people added these $$$ to my IRA already started. That, I understood, was a "wrong" thing to do. I caught this when I checked on my accts through computer. The rep at Allianz immediately moved to a different investment acct, 3 days later... but too late, I lost trust that this company is knowledgeable regarding "Other People's Money"... mine.
Now, 4 weeks later, and way too many hands touching my funds and way too many calls to "whoever answers the phone". For 3 weeks, all they're keep saying, "these were IRA funds" and now a whole bunch of paperwork is required. Allianz made these $$$ an IRA. Finally, someone named Greta in Customer Relations... was finally "allowing my" $$$ to be mailed to me, the owner of my savings. But, that did not happen! Today, just got off the phone with another rep and he told me funds are allocated to be mailed out on Mon, 6/20/16. A week later than promised by Greta. This time I stated that I want overnight delivery, now am worried that this #1 rated co. will charge for the service, as noted in another critical review... even though... they have caused this whole adventure from hell. All I can say is be very careful before considering Allianz, and I must also add... anyone promoting this "outfit"!

I needed to take a partial surrender from my retirement account for an emergency. I called on two separate occasions, and spoke with two different reps, to verify the information I was given was correct. I was given the same answer from two different people so I was certain at this point that I could move forward with the withdrawal. Without going into great detail, the information I was given was in fact WRONG, and the transaction did not go the way it was planned or the way I was told it would go. Due to INCORRECT info given to me TWICE my account now has a balance of over $38k LESS than should be. This has now created a legal situation on my end due to the incompetence of Allianz and their support team. Just to verify their incompetence, once I received the money and knew what was going on I called to express my concerns and ask how we could reach a resolution. But before that I decided to ask for a third time what the procedure was.
Once I was told yet again about their procedure [in detail] I proceeded to tell the guy how it actually happened. His response: "Umm, I actually just told you wrong. That's not how it actually goes. We actually do this..." After I brought him up to speed on everything he assured me a manager would be in touch within 24-48 hrs. Over a week later and I HAD TO CALL THEM BACK and ask what the problem was. It wasn't until then they realized my whole situation was reported to the wrong department! I was again assure someone would definitely be in contact with me again within 24-48 hrs. “GUARANTEED” he said.
After 4 days I had to call them back yet again. To this moment, still no resolution!! I am now transferring every dime of my remaining retirement monies from this company and placing it with someone capable of communicating accurate information and will do what they say. No way I want these idiots handling my retirement!! There are far too many choices out there. So, if you're considering Allianz, I recommend you go the other way.

I have had an annuity with Allianz for over 4 years. I put the money in; I got a bonus; it grew and didn't lose money. All was good... UNTIL I requested a penalty-free withdrawal. When they received my request they IMMEDIATELY deducted the amount from my balance and they CLAIM they sent me a check... which I never received. Just sent it regular mail - no tracking, no insurance, no signature required. They said I should allow 10 business days for the check to process through US mail. It didn't show up.
They offer to stop payment and issue another check - which will take 4 more days - and send the new check the same way: regular mail with no tracking, etc. If I want special handling it will cost extra. If I want the money deposited directly into my bank account it will cost extra. AND of course they will not credit the amount of the missing check back to my account. Don't most checks get subtracted when they are CASHED? Not with Allianz. So the withdrawal was deducted from my account but I still don't have the money and probably won't for who knows how long. Allianz gets the benefit of my money and any interest it earns for a month or more. I WILL get all my money out of this company as soon as possible and I recommend you find another place to put yours.

Offers a high yield indexed fund that is based on market performance. Payments are calculated on a yearly change of market indexes. When the index is lower on the anniversary date than the previous year's anniversary date, no payments are issued. The percentage increase over the previous year less 1.5 percent is added to your principal. After ten years of investing and contributing to the fund, there will be a lifetime monthly payment that is calculated based on what has been accumulated.

In general my annuity experience is positive. The one aspect of the Allianz annuity I do not like is the way it credits increases. It is based on the S&P 500 like many annuities. This one resets each year on the anniversary date which is fine. What I do not like is how the increased is figured. Each month on the monthly anniversary date the increase or decrease in the market is noted. Decreases have no limit when the market is down. Increases are limited to, this year, 2.6% of the market. In an up and down economy like we have now, one month's loss can take 5-6 months to recoup if the market does really well those months.

All these years I had a company sponsored 401 K. Over 30yrs we had T Rowe and Vanguard, all very fair people. Then I decide to retire. So I get a good financial adviser and he suggest I go with Allianz with a HUGE CHUNK of my retirement 401K. "It'll get 6% (vested over 10 yrs), a life insurance policy for 25% of the amount (of course I have to be dead to get it), you'll never lose the initial amount and on anniversary dates it'll go up to the new amount and you can make some money (up to 18%)," he said. I never pushed him for the past averages because all the companies I've dealt with played fair. If you’re not familiar with Allianz 365i, you have to play a game.
The game is they take your money and do whatever they want with it for 10 years and you have to play a game of, what will make the most money for me? They offer S&P monthly sum (I know this one good). It had a 1.5% cap each month (only on the profit side, you can lose any amount of it on the negative side). So if there is one bad day that falls on your day (let's say S&P down 6% from your last mark, it'll take 4 months of up 1.5% to get even), that's 5 months of 0's. This isn't easy. At the end of my first anniversary date I receive from Allianz a report stating that the amount of money in my account was the exact amount it was a year earlier except I had earn 1% of the 6% bonus they promised me and I didn't make any money on the HUGE CHUNK I gave them because I lost in the "game of S&P" over the last year (it lost 11% and I only made 9% in "the game" so I got 0.00%).
If the market had gone down this year or even was so.. so, I would have understood but 2014 this was a pretty good year and I expected something in the way of 8% on the HUGE CHUNK. My friends at work in Vanguard made 16% on their retirement acct last year. I made 0.00%!!! So I had a lively meeting with my financial adviser for the anniversary report and we have begun to get as much money as penalty-free as possible out of the AWFUL Allianz acct. Allianz sent me a note in the annual report that my new cap is 1.4%!!! I ALREADY MADE NOTHING LAST YEAR, ARE THEY AFRAID I MIGHT MAKE A PERCENT OR TWO.
Last year, before I signed the contract with them, I read some stuff on the computer about Allianz, I half believed it and felt my financial adviser would never put me in this position. They were right, every one of them. What they said and complained about was all true. My gut feeling was not to go with them but the allure of not losing anything in a bad market (which could happen) won out but I never thought that I would not get anything on my retirement money possibly for 10 years. And it is possible!!!
Allianz is deceptive, they don't outright lie but you do feel deceived. For the record, check out LAW SUITS against Allianz in 2001 Minnesota and 2009 in Cal. You’ll see that nothing has changed with them but the wording on the flyers. All this is true. I didn't have to lie to make my story sound better. BEWARE and READ ABOUT THEM BEFORE YOU SIGN. Biggest mistake I ever made, don't let it happen to you. Good Luck.

In the spring of 2014 my wife decided to convert her annuity accumulation into an annuity. We filled out the paperwork and chose the NON-INSURANCE option on the first page of the application. We were to get over 3200.00 in one annual payment each year for ten years. A few weeks later we received a check for just $2595.96. In a series of back and forth calls with the Allianz representative we were told that our application showed we'd signed up for the INSURED option. We requested and received a copy of the first page of the application they claimed they received.
It was clear that someone in their organization had altered our application and had whited out our check mark for the non-insurance option and had checked the insured option instead. We were able to send Allianz a copy of the first page of the application we had sent in (my wife wisely made a copy of the application before sending it in). Without admitting any error/misdeed on their part Allianz told us to send them a second application and to return the $2,595.96 which we did.
On June 10th, 2014 they sent my wife a letter acknowledging the receipt of the $2,595.96 and information pertaining to paying taxes on the annuity. At the time we thought they were talking about the corrected annuity payment resulting from our second application. It was inconceivable to think they were talking about us paying the taxes on the check we had just returned. We were also told that we had to sign, date, and return this letter in order for the second application to be processed. The paper was signed, dated and returned to Allianz and the second application processed. We received our first Allianz annuity check (for $3220.48) that we were allowed to keep 2-3 weeks later.
In February, 2015 we finally received our 1099-R from Allianz that showed that they had paid my wife $5,816.44! When I called Allianz to tell them that they had made a mistake and that the 1099-R should have been for just $3220.48 they called attention to the letter they had sent us in June that my wife had signed and returned that had committed us to pay taxes on the $2595.96 as well as the $3220.48. They also admitted that they would not have processed the second annuity application if my wife had not signed and sent in that letter.
I don't think that letter legally binds us to paying taxes on money that we were not allowed to keep and I plan to report only the $3220.48 as the annuity payment on my federal income tax return for 2014 with an explanation and be prepared work it out with the IRS when they audit my return later on sometime.

It has been in remission for quite some while and luckily I have excellent doctors who check on me constantly. In October I made resrevations to fly to Chicago to visit my daughter and attend a wedding. I bought the insurance because you never know when u have cancer, when it could strike again. Two days before I was supposed to go, I found out that my cancer had spread to my bone marrow and I would have to start a chemo treatment and needed a blood transfusion. Of course I had to cancel my trip and thought how lucky I was to have insurance.
Unfortunately, Allianz isn't in business to help people, but only to make money. They said it was a preexisting condition and I had office visits 4 months prior and would not cover it. Never mind the fact that cancer patients have many office visits just to make sure things are all right. Just because I have been treated for breast cancer for many years, means that they won't cover. Please do not buy this insurance. Read the reviews and see how they will go to any lengths to not honor your policy.
So the bottom line is they won't reimburse someone who has cancer. Even though it is in remission but has just spread to a new area 7 years later. I had to immediately start chemo, thus canceling my trip. but after all this, they say it was a pre-existing condition. Most people go out of their way to help people who are battling this disease, but Allianz cares so little about nothing-but denying your claim. Their claims people have no compassion and are unwilling to help.

We sent in the necessary documentation proving that my husband has power of attorney and his father’s death certificate all through email.
After a couple of weeks we did not hear anything from them so we tried calling. Well you might as well give up on that as all you do is get put on hold and cannot talk to a live human being. I told him I needed something that I could take my money out of at any time. He said that this was the best place to put your money to save. He said it's better than a savings account because it's not taxed. I put all my extra money into this because I thought I was saving for my house and for medical bills. He said we could have our money at anytime.
I was concerned about making the payments if I lost my Job. He said our money is our money and we can use and have it at any time. He said that the money we gain we couldn't touch for 15 years but whatever we put in we could. He told me that the only charges I will get will be for the life insurance. He said it was $200 or so a year. The first year I got my statement, I was charged $200 or so but also $990. I called him and he said that it was a onetime fee for opening the policy and I will never see it again. My second statement came and I was charged $500 something for life insurance and again $990. When I called the agent, he told me that my life insurance is going to go up because I am getting older.
So in one year my life insurance went up $300? He said he didn't know what the $990 charge was and would call the company and get back to me. He called the next day to tell me that the charge is right and he has to go by what the company says. I started getting medical bills for my daughter and went to pull some money out and I was told I couldn't touch it for 15 years. I would have never joined this and put so much a month into it if that was the case. He knew I needed access to my money and promised that I would. Now when I need it the most, I am told I can't have it? This was supposed to be a savings account that a small amount of life insurance would be taken out a year. Now I have all these charges. I am told I can't use my money, and my life insurance keeps going up. Everything he told me he also told to several other women I work with. They cancelled their policies last week and others are cancelling soon. I put all my extra money into this.
Thinking I was saving for a rainy day. I just want my money so I can pay for my daughter's treatments. I want to stop this agent from doing this to others. The representative informed me that I would receive 2 annual payments of $697.00 per year. After I only received a payment in January, I contacted them again and was informed that I would only receive one payment of $697.00 per year. If I had known this, I would have taken my $14,000 and invested it myself. I was also informed that I could not sell this policy.

I had a major back surgery in 2009 and when I booked a flight thru Orbitz using Delta, I chose to get the flight insurance in case issues with my back worsened. My back problems increased and I feared the pressurization of flying would only make it worse.
I tried cancelling with Orbitz 2 months in advance, who at that time told all they could do was credit my ticket amount with Delta for a year. I told them because of medical reasons, I couldn't fly and they cancelled the ticket. I told them I had taken out flight insurance and they told me I could pursue that avenue if I decided to.
I pursued that method, I had my doctor state that flying only made my back pain worse. I've worked with Allianz for months and lastly, I found out that they have asked my doctor for more information but they didn't tell me. I responded to their letter requesting for info, indicating that HIPAA prevents medical communities from giving out patient information without the patient’s knowledge.
I called today (7/12/2013) and I was told that because I had an existing condition medically, the insurance isn't valid. I challenge Allianz to provide that statement during the enrollment period. I'm guessing Allianz is purely a deception at making money without providing the services as stated.

I had to cancel a United flight to London that I bought through Orbitz with travel insurance from Allianz. My car was involved in an accident although I was not driving. I cancelled the flight within thirty-six hours, once I learned from AAA that there was a claim of personal injury by the other driver, something I did not learn until days later. Allianz rejected my claim of $1,437 because I was one day off. This is no way to get repeat business with Orbitz, Allianz, or United (I am a long-time United user). On top of it all, I will have to pay $250 to change the date of a future flight and it is only good until the date of purchase a year from now, even though I was to fly months after the purchase. Soulless thieves!

I was left an annuity with Allianz. I filled out the paperwork and sent it in. After 2 weeks, I called to check the status. The rep told me everything was in order and the check should be sent any day now. I waited about a week and called back. I was told the same thing - any day now. I waited 5 days and called back on a Tuesday. I was informed there was a system glitch and I was promised a check to be sent between 24-48 hours. I checked the mail on Saturday and guess what? No check. I called Allianz back on Monday morning and was told the funds were released and the check was mailed out on Wednesday.
When the mail arrived on Monday and still no check, I called back and was put on hold for over 5 minutes. Finally, the guy came back and told me that the funds were released; however, because of a system glitch, the check was not mailed out. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I went over all of the problems I was having and she informed me that the check might have been sent, but because of the system glitch they had no way of knowing. She asked me to wait until tomorrow and if I did not receive the check, she would overnight one to me. I have very little faith in Allianz. If I had known how incompetent they are, I would have opted for cash out instead of the annuity option. Beware of the tactics of this company!

Allianz is the worst insurance company. My husband and I had to cancel our trip to Central America because I was in the first trimester of a high risk pregnancy. My doctor told me not to go. Allianz refused to reimburse us for the lost airfare because they considered my pregnancy "normal" since I did not have an actual complication before the trip. Horrible!
Their claim process was also terrible. Their website says they resolve their claims within 7 business days of receiving all the necessary supporting documents. In reality, it took them 7 days just to acknowledge the medical form I sent. Then they took two more weeks to process this really straightforward claim. Then the decision letter that they supposedly sent me never came, so I had to call again and request it. Since Allianz's online claims information is pretty useless, it took about 5 weeks and 3 phone calls from the time I submitted all the necessary documents to the time I finally received their written decision.
In the denial letter, Allianz did not tell me about my right to appeal this decision internally, but instead told me I can file an arbitration claim to dispute their decision (a costly and cumbersome process similar to a lawsuit) nor could I find any appeal information on their website. I had to call again to find out what their internal appeal process was. I just wish I did more research and read all the uniformly negative user comments all over the internet before buying insurance from Allianz. Allianz is the perfect stereotype of a crooked insurance company that tries to screw its clients out of money and get out of paying any claims. Will never do business with them again!

Update: When I was actually able to get an employee from Allianz on the phone and go over the details of our scenario, what I heard was shocking and hard to take in. No joke. They said, "Man, speaking completely off the record here. I honestly feel really bad for all you guys who buy this. It's pretty much a number scam and I hate this part of my job because the company sucks, but I got to follow marching orders and just deny all we can." Seriously laughable if my family wasn't going through the medical problems we are.
Warning to all travelers considering using Allianz Global Assistance for an AA flight. We recently had a flight to Rio booked where we were recommended to purchase trip insurance through Allianz Global Assistance. We were told that for any medical event which led to cancellation, this would give us a full refund. Unfortunately a few weeks before the flight, my wife did require a trip to an OBGYN specialist and her provider restricted her from all travel for 8-12 weeks (which fell right in the middle of the trip). We got supporting documentation from the clinic including a signed letter from the provider confirming he was restricting her from travel. He acknowledged that he was not comfortable to release private patient information to an agency or outside organization that is not rendering medical care to the patient and that any such act would result in a violation of the HIPPA patient privacy rights we are afforded in America.
Unfortunately, the folks at Allianz Global Assistance are not educated in the ways of privacy acts and said they have a firm policy for a policy holding patient to disclose the entire personal and private medical records release from the providers (and then asked for it in a non-secure and non-encrypted manner for that matter! Another clear violation of the law). An employee there speaking on anonymity on the situation disclosed that they are instructed to just reject all claims and that they are only looked into if the customer files an appeal (and even then he said they are audited and measured by the amount of claims they are able to reject).
You all will have much better luck getting the airline to waive the cancellation policy in a circumstance like this (at least they don't flat out disregard the customer's privacy rights). Then you would be going through a 3rd party vendor like this that measures bottom lines and fiscal year profit reports on policy purchases vs adjudicated claims. We have traveled the world and have close to one million miles with both American and United, and never in a million years would I recommend any travel utilizing a company Allianz Global (and for that matter, I would recommend another airline since AA still elects to send their customers to a group like this).

I spoke with an agent of Allianz. I said I was looking for something I could put my money in which would allow me to take my money out at any time without penalty. I stressed the fact that I wanted to take my money out whenever I wanted to and how much I ever wanted to. She said that was not a problem and that I could invest in their annuity program, which I did. Since that time, I have been charged several different penalty charges for taking out my money, which range from 15% to 24%. I was never given a contract to sign and when I was finally (after 8 years of asking for one) given one, I discovered that my name had been forged on it. I also noticed that the contract specifically says that a 10% penalty would be charged.
I was finally handed over to their Investigative Department and spoke with their senior investigator. She didn't admit anything, but sent me a settlement agreement that they desperately want me to sign. The agreement is ridiculous, doesn't give me back any of the bogus penalty charges, doesn't give me what my investment is worth as of last month and won't even address the forgery. I have told them I intend to sue them. I am currently seeking out an attorney to do so.

At the recommendation of his AAA travel agent, my husband purchased travel insurance for two plane tickets to Finland. The entire trip was to be paid for by the organization who invited him and his associate. He agreed to buy the tickets and be reimbursed for them prior to the date of departure. He purchased travel insurance to protect against losing this money should the agreement not be met. One week prior to the trip, he was contacted by the organization and told the plans were being cancelled due to their inability to accommodate the expense. Being assured by his travel agent that the trip insurance would cover such a situation, a claim was filed and denied by Allianz.
On 5/24/12, I purchased travel insurance from the same agency through Hotwire.com for three tickets to Orlando, FL and due to unforeseen circumstances, once again (this time damage from the recent tropical storm has rendered our destination uninhabitable), the ensuing claim is being denied. I am aware of "buyer beware"; however, both of these situations resulted from being misled by the agencies who brokered said policies and I feel that Allianz is deceptive and unlawful in their practices.
At no time during the purchase of these tickets was there mention of what type of policies were available and I was led to believe that I was buying protection for trip cancellations, period. Why would anybody purchase something that only covers loss in the event you slip on a banana peel and break your left ankle and right wrist? That's how ludicrous their "terms" are to get approval for a claim. He fleeced them into breaking up 3 triple tax free bond funds to contribute to this Allianz annuity. They had no idea what they were purchasing, they were incompetent, besides the fact of their age, and they thought this was a bond fund, it was not.
Peter took out a loan against the policy to give my uncle what he thought was a dividend. It was then when we took guardianship that our attorney could not believe that anyone would write 2 policies for people of their age. They have both since passed, and we had to take cash surrender values of these policies, or collect the death benefit over a 5 year term.
Totally unacceptable we lost $94,000.00 between my brother and me for two policies that should have never been written. This guy Peter took advantage of their age and mental status. When we were told of these policies Peter assured us that there was no waiting period for the death benefit versus the cash surrender. My attorneys beg to differ they told us again that these policies should have never been written for these elderly people. Had they been of sound mind they would have never bought these annuities. They are not for people of their age.

I'm not going to rest until I get my money from these crooks. They made promises of these bonuses; however, I come to find out that was false. There was never any mention of surrender charges or fees for early withdrawal until I wanted to withdraw my funds.
There were, in fact, several documents that were forged with my signature. An internal investigation by their firm was done and they found nothing wrong. These are serious allegations and yet it was completely shrugged off like nothing ever transpired. I'm angry and beside myself about how crooked this company is and how they operate. However, in speaking with Patrick Thomas, my agent at the time of purchase, and with customer service at Allianz, this month, April 2008, I find out I am paying hefty penalties to withdraw more than 5% of my original deposit in a lump sum.
The alternatives are monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual payments of: 1. Interest only 2. Principal and interest 3. another plan I don't recall the name of. THESE ARE FOR A MINIMUM PERIOD OF 10 YEARS, AND ONCE I MAKE A CHOICE, I AM LOCKED IN FOR THE WHOLE 10 YEARS AND CANNOT CHANGE THE PLAN FOR WITHDRAWAL, MEANING MY FUNDS WILL HAVE BEEN TIED UP FOR 15 YEARS, AND IF I WANT TO TAKE OUT MY MONEY, IT COSTS ME BIG TIME.

Our 95 yr.old father gave my brother and I his entire life savings to keep in our names. My brother divided it into two annuities with Allianz Life Insurance Co. and my father now needs it for nursing home care for my mother who is 91 and has alzheimers.
Each annuity was 115,000 put in five yrs. ago and I cannot get it back at full value. They said it would be ten more yrs. and if I cash it in now for my Dad, I would get only 109,000. My brother since died and he made his wife his beneficiary and she will not give back my Dad's money. What am I to do? This 230,000 was to safekeep for my parents. I desperately need help.
My father was 90 yrs old at the time and now is 95. He worked all his life to save in a coal mine at age 14 for 20cents an hour and he is so upset over this, that I am afraid for his health and he is caring for my Mom with alzheimers.

Had I know the consequences of this transaction, I would have not bought into this annuity. I also have 3 others that equal about $100,000, with Allianz, and I cannot touch (full withdrawal) them for several years or more without paying heafty penalties.I thought I fully understood the financial advisor's explanation, but apparently I do not recall understanding that my money would literally be locked up well beyond my 59 1/2 year requirement.

I purchased a deferred annuity for $100,000 10/02/2000. I was under the impression that if I left it untouched until I was 591/2 yrs old, I could receive its full annuitization value ( which is presently $167,340.34 ). I will be 59 1/2 May 12,of 2008, at which time I planned on taking a FULL withdrawal to pay off my home. I recently found out that I will have to pay early surrender penalties, if I do this. The beginning surrender value at this point in time is $110,216.98, and the ending cash surrender value is $113,970.85.

We were lured by the fact that our annuity would be tied to the market and we thought it would appreciate att a better rate than a fixed income vehicle. The problem is that there is a surrender period of 12 years. I am 74 and my husband is 77 and we failed to catch that and were not verbally informed

We were contacted by Mr. T about an annuity. He claimed to be an officer at our local bank (I still have the business card) but he was not. He had all our bank info and knew we had several cd's that were maturing. He came to our home and sold us both annuities - one IRA (which we have gotten out of) and the other a single premioum deferred annuity for both my wife and I. I was 70 at the time and my wife 64. He assurred us this was a very good investment as he had just got his mother involved in the same thing!!
We have lost interest and income from this annuity. I am 81 years old and now I can take it out after much wrangling with them and it will take 10 years to get the money!

Mike R, Agent for Allianz, and now in prison, in San Jose, CA sold us the Allianz policy and stated that we would be able to take our money out in FIVE years. I am 75 and my husband is 79. Hopefully, we will live long enough to get our money out of these policies. They were both of our 401K money.

An agent sold us the Allianz Alterity Variable Annuity product in March of 2006. Due to complications with transferral of funds from our other investments, we did not get the actual contract for quite some time. However, the investment had been made and the money had already been transferred prior to the receipt of the contract. This product is extremely complex, and the agent clearly did not understand the product when he presented it.
Shortly after we received the actual contract, on June 1, 2006, we contacted the regional VP for Allianz. His description of the product did not match the agent's, but we thought we understood more about our investment after speaking with him. Several months ago, we began to realize that we STILL didn't understand the product. We started calling the Allianz Service Center. We spoke to several different reps and one or two managers. Each person told us something different.
Finally, out of frustration, I contacted the President of Allianz and asked him to clarify the product and give us his personal guarantee as well as that of one of his attorneys, that we would be able to depend upon his responses. Instead of responding directly, he had one of his administrative people in charge of variable annuities, respond. Her attempt at responding was mediocre at best, and she still did not clarify all of the points we needed to know. We are senior citizens with a fairly good knowledge of investments, yet, even WE are unable to understand this product.
What appears to be happening here is that Allianz is purposely putting out a confusing and complicated product while not informing the recipients that the only way to access their guaranteed amounts is to take a long term payout or to annuitize at a very low rate. In other words, they make it look good going in, but give you no fair way to exit the product. This may be legal, but we feel it is very unethical.
We are locked into this product for at least 6 more years and still are not sure about how to exit the product at the end of that time without losing money or being forced to pay their outrageous fees for the next 26 years. The products within the annuity are not the best we've seen, which limits our choices substantially. They leave no way to shelter our money, so if equities decline significantly, we could lose a great deal of money. We understood going in that there would be penalties in the first 7 years for early withdrawal, but we were told there would be no fees and at the end of 7 years we would receive a guaranteed return of 7%. They make it very difficult to get that amount because they are charging 3% for fees. We could have done better with a CD and would like to exit this product but do not feel we will be able to do so.

I was deceived by Mr Barry Keeley. At age 65 I was informed through his radio promotion that I could realize a gain of 10% if I bought his product Allianz Bonus Dex Annuity. I did buy three annuities and was informed that when I turn 70 1/2, (5 years from the sign up date) I could take my money out and begin spending my life savings...$133,000.00. A month or so later I called the Allianz Life Ins Co in St Paul, MN asking about the Bonus Dex product. The customer service person told me that I should never have been sold the Bonus Dex Annuity because it matures 15 years after sign up.
Well, needless to say I was extremely upset, and called Mr Keeley wanting to get my money back. He told me that the Allianz customer service group do not know their own products. At that time I had nowhere to turn. Like many other seniors that have been taken advantage of, I'm amazed that this continues to occur. I know of the class action lawsuite being brought against Allianz, but how about all the independent representatives that are lying through their teeth. Remove their licenses and return all monies plus the interest that was promised.
I'm 69 years old this week and I have not yet been able to spend one cent of my retirement because of Mr Keeley. I want the universe to know that this continues to occur and it must be stopped.

I met Larry B. on the pretense that he wanted to date me. Immediately he started to try to sell me Allianz Bonus Dex Annuities. This was in 2002 when my stocks were plummeting. The guarantee of no less than 3% on my money sounded good. I got very anxious though when it came time to notarize the papers. He became very angry with me and I felt threatened. So unfortunately I signed. I told him that I did not want to touch my equities and options. But I had signed an extra paper for another annuity. I was negligent in not getting the paper back from him. About a month later he called me from Dallas and said that I needed to get in on this great deal because the %age was going down in a couple of days. I was very ill at the time and I don't remember the whole conversation. I do know that I never gave him permission to sell the remainder of my stocks. About 2 weeks later I received information in the mail that all of my stocks had been sold, $113,000 worth at their lowest possible point. He had taken the paper, initialed it with his own initials, and dated it for the date the stocks were sold.
I almost had a nervous breakdown when I found out what he had done. My mother had died a few months earlier and the stress was almost too much for me. I filed a complaint with the SEC, and got an attorney to attempt to get my money back. Of course, they would only give me what I would have gained in that last six weeks since the stocks started to rally. I received about $11,000 for the $113,000 that I had lost. Now I am stuck with an annuity that I did not want in the first place.
My money is tied up for the next 15 years, which was not explained to me and Mr. B is still selling (stealing) to people in Austin, Tx. I just pray that some other single woman did not fall prey to what he is doing, but I am sure there has been others. I am still taking a loss every year on my income tax for the $113,000 and will be for several years. I have never been able to recover. I am looking at retirement in 7 years. That money was also from an inheritance that my father had worked for his whole life.

I was sold an Annunity to supplement my Social Security income and promised a 10% bonus I was led to believe I could annunitize any time after the first year. Now I find I cannot do that for five years. I was over 73 years old at that time. I am now past 75 and wish to stop working, but cannot annunitize for 3 more years.
The method of figuring interest earned is also very disapointing. I do not think this was an appropriate investment to be sold to someone my age and I can't get my money out without a hugh financial loss. If I annunitize at age 78, I will not recoup my initial investment until I am 88 and not get back the bonus and/or any interest earned for serveral more years.
I do not know what the life expectancy is for me, but I doubt it is that long. My money is tied up and I can't afford to lose the amount for cash surrender.

We were told by Alan L.Cerf that we could get better interest with him than our Bank [Wells Fargo] could give to us and we could draw out our money when we needed such. My husband is nearing 90 years of age and I am 81. We called Mr. Cerf to come by and explain the two packs of 14 pages Alliance had sent to us. He said he was very busy. Our bank had already withdrawn our entire savings. We still have not heard from Mr Cerf. I called 800-950-1962. I was told we would be able to withdraw $6,000. on the anniversary date. The person I talked to advised me to call Mr Cerf.
We are in need of some money soon for Dr. and other bills that might come in to us.

We attended a financial seminar, like so many other seniors around here and got talked into purchasing a Elite Annuity with Allianz Life Insurance Co. It was presented to us in such a way that we thought it would bring us a nice yield and we could take the money out when we saw fit. We did not realize that our money would be tied up for years and that if we tried to take the money out we would really be penalized.
My husband is 74 yrs. old and I am 68. We are very upset over this and do not know what to do about this. We did this transaction in May of 2004. Our savings are all tied up when we could be using some for extra expenses.

I transferred an annuity I had with Vanguard to Allianz in August 2004 as a result of a sales talk given in my home by a Mr. Elkin. He explained that there was a bonus of 12% for signing up and talked about the standing of Allianz in the field. What he did not do is explain clearly that I would have to hold the annuity for five years & that it would take ten years to fully realize the worth of the annuity.
I was 81 years old when this happened & I will be 96 years old when the annuity fully matures. My husband & I will need this money well before the maturity date for our living expenses & for college education for our 2 grandchildren. I have called Mr. Elkin 6-8 times in the last 6 months & left messages for him to return the calls & not one returned call. This makes me even more sure that I was taken advantage of due to my age.
You can't imagine how inadequate one feels when you realize that you were not alert enough to read all the small print in the contract & I guess if I had I might not have understood what it said anyway. This will cause hardship economically to my family but I hope not physical harm but one can not tell as you reach my age you realize every day that you stay alive is good.
