This school is a fraud and a joke! DO NOT ATTEND!! Not only was I repeatedly failed over a small scale assignment, they waited until the end of my semester to let me turn it in for the final time so that I wouldn't be able to finish the class and get credit for it. The tempo program is designed to fail you on the first submission of every assignment so you can "fix" what's wrong according to the professors. The whole grading scale is poorly explained, the advisors do not care and do not know what's going on with the program. I also was advised to take Statistics with Sophia, so I did and completed the certification of credit. After the fact, I was informed that I had to drop one of my transferable credits in order to add the Statistics class, and then the university added a new class onto my required courses. Making it an even longer timeline to graduate.
I ended up leaving the program with a bill of a little over 3K and I was making payments monthly. Sometimes little, sometimes larger, depending on how much food I wanted to eat that month. I was informed that I had to set the account up on a payment plan, pay it in full, or it was getting turned into collections. I called to get it set up on a payment plan. (I have no problem with paying what I owe the University, even though I don't think the program deserves a cent, ultimately I attended for a semester and that is what I owe. That's fine.)
After speaking with the financial advisors, they gave me an option, pay it upfront in full or they offer installment options for 2, 3, or 4 payments. Even if I took the 4 installment options, I would have to pay over 800 a month. If I had that money, I would have been paying it from the start. I explained that I couldn't make that kind of a larger payment, and they very uncompassionately told me it would have to go to collections. This University doesn't care about their students. They only care about their money.

In my experience, I cannot recommend any of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) programs offered by this institution. The practicum placement process lacked meaningful support, and I was required to locate all placements on my own. The school’s website, which is supposed to provide practicum guidance, was disorganized during my enrollment. Information was scattered across multiple pages, and several links were nonfunctional when I attempted to use them.
Although the institution actively facilitates enrollment, my experience showed that it was extremely difficult to secure the four required practicum placements in my area, largely due to strict site criteria. Despite this, the full responsibility for securing placements was placed on me, even while tuition costs exceeded $40,000. These statements reflect my direct experience and are intended to provide an accurate account of the issues I encountered.

I tried reaching out of deep concern and frustration and tried many times to get help understanding my financial aid situation, but I keep getting transferred and end up with no real answers. I feel lost in the process and completely unsupported. I recently received a call—on my birthday—saying I owe $7,000. I stopped working to focus on my education, believing I was doing the right thing, and now I feel blindsided. My bad, I wish I would have read the reviews before making the decision to enroll at Walden for online education. These questions remain, "How did this happen, and why was there no warning before it became this serious, and What did I do Wrong?”

I applied for the msw program and the admission process was the most frustrating process I have ever dealt with. 1) I was assigned to a advisory who did not provided much guidance or assistance. 2. The staff from different departments and including the financial aid dept are unskilled and incompetent and have hardly knowledge of the dept. Each time I would call to ask questions, I ended up getting different answers. 3) My official transcripts were send out 4 times! And Walden claimed it was never received and was unable to obtain student loans due to this. I was told to pay out. 4. I had join the support group on facebook to read others experiences with courses and school work and the half of the students often complained about unfair grading, lack of teachers feedbacks, and a lot more. The university faculty does not care for students and it's just about money. It's a joke.

Unlike any University that I have ever attended, professors at this school feel inclined to accuse their students of using AI on discussion posts. I've had a professor report me to the office of student integrity because she felt I generated my responses from AI. Even after explaining my process and situation, the committee still sided with the professor, resulting in me receiving a zero for something that I actually took time out of my schedule to complete. They then had the audacity to prompt me to write a one paged letter explaining what I have "learned" from the situation. Frankly, I've learned that this is not the school for me.

The only reason why I'm giving this school two stars is because they're good about accepting transfer credits, which actually was a small hassle because my enrollment counselor lacked attention to detail. I echo everyone here when I say, as far as communication goes, Walden has a systemic issue. The Financial Aid department is the most incompetent. From lack of follow-up to conflicting information, trying to get anything resolved with them is a time-consuming and often unfruitful process. Additionally, getting support from other departments is a chore in an of itself. All over, it takes literal weeks to hear from someone even though you're told "one to three business days."
Representatives are not empowered to bring resolution, so they pass you back and forth between levels claiming that "you have to wait," meanwhile they falsely communicate that they've escalated your case -- a case that was created sometimes because of their professional deficiency. After the interactions that I've had with the varying departments at Walden, I am not confident in any of them, and they have obliterated my trust in them. There's always a two-question survey at the end of the calls. I wonder if they even take them into consideration because things haven't changed. Beware. If you enroll, either lower your expectations or prepare to be regularly frustrated by them. Salt to the wound: "There's nothing I can do. You can call back."

Faculty absolutely sucks. They are ignorant and unhelpful not to mention completely delusional and out of touch. One instructor suggested that our resume should be minimum 19 pages long and most places I spoke to said they wanted page resumes maximum two pages. Also, they graded unfairly and expected nothing from foreign students who could barely communicate or comprehend English and yet expected our papers to be perfect but even when there wasn’t a problem they would make the most nonsensical suggestions that were absolutely absurd. The prompts for writing were disjointed and contradictory, confusing and even when followed perfectly, grades were NOT appropriate. I made a 4.0 at a real university, not an online diploma mill, and these “instructors” were barely qualified to teach kindergarten much less a Master’s degree program course.
Absolutely no support from administrators and zero accountability or assistance when complaints were made. They need to be shut down, they misrepresented all the nurse practitioner programs and did nothing but cause obstacles for students not sure if these female instructors just took the job to treat other women unfairly or were on a power trip but they were so unbelievably and unbearably moronic. I was accepted to a DNP program at a state university and dropped out of Walden. I should sue them for all they put me through incredibly horrific experience.

As a ** female student, I entered into Walden University with high honors. Everything seem fine. Seems as though it was the right fit for me.... Till I realize the courses in the master's program is literal trash. There are here no one to talk to but biased ** coaches and professors who feel as though they are above you in a very odd and creepy way. I had situation where I reached out to one the professors about requesting things are not in the instructions of my assignments. No response. Then, I reached out to the coach about it and immediately, she stood up for the professor and defended the nonsense.
When I requested a new coach here comes one of her ** male counterparts questioning me about why I wanted a new coach as if I didn't explain why already. The narcissism and gas-lighting are at an all-time high at this school. Plus, you are basically doing the same assignment over and over and over....but being rushed to complete these assignments every two weeks despite being a Tempo student. Imagine being on honor roll for six years, then you started attended Walden and started struggling. Wow...

This university seemed like a great fit at first for my MSW, but when I started it was a below par in education. They teach the absolute bare minimum and after a year of classes I feel that it was a high level overview summary of my bachelor's level degree. You have to establish a practicum for yourself, which isn't a big deal, but it is when they have so much red tape and unclear expectations that the office providing your internship is confused and cannot get a clear answer from their field representatives. I even tried to call and message them to have it takes weeks for them to get back to me, if they even did at all. The price you pay is not worth it. Invest in a different school. Research their curriculums to ensure it will adequately prepare you, because Walden did not. I discovered after I withdrew that they have a class action law suit against misleading and overcharging certain populations, which is not ethical in my opinion.

The University began with great potential. However it looks as though since it is supported by a for profit organization, they delay, and defer to get as much money as possible out of students. They are adjusting its rules that are to the disadvantage of students, but seem to help to ensure profitability. They are currently under investigation, settled a 2024 law suit. It seems as though much has been taken away from some of it most helpful components (offices) to students. We are considering a complaint to the accreditation organization as well as the courts. If you have issues and seek settlement contact: **.

If I could give Walden University zero stars, I would. I cannot explain enough how awful this school it. There is absolutely no teaching, guidance or help. The professors don't even know how to answer your questions because they probably don't even know what their class actually entails. I had to reach out to the director on numerous occasions because I could not get ahold of my professor for weeks. The exams are solely based off the book which is crap, very unorganized and useless. None of their NP practicum rules are straightforward but again, you can't get ahold of anyone about it. They do not care if you're held back a semester, even if it's a result of their mistake/wrong regulations - yes wrong, they told me some kind of crap about why one of my rotations wasn't approved but when I went to the SBON, they said they had no clue what my school is talking about.
One professor flunked one of my assignments and when I asked her to explain what I did wrong, (after going to the director because it had been weeks and she hadn't responded yet), she said it was a "grading error" and fixed the grade to be 100%. Then the last assignment of the semester, she nearly flunked me on even though it was about my own study plan and how my skills improved throughout the semester. Truly a HORRIBLE experience and I DO NOT recommend.

They make it insanely hard to perform practicums/clinicals and are not sympathetic about it. They make you find your own preceptors, make many unnecessary requirements, make practicum deadlines months in advance (many times you are unable to find a preceptor by this time), and rarely email you back if you are having problems. They are not helpful when they do respond.

I applied to Walden University while researching programs for my mental health studies. The Enrollment Officer convinced me that Walden was the best option for what I wanted to pursue. Trusting their recommendation, I went through the entire application process, which was both time-consuming and costly. Since my former university is outside the U.S., I had to pay out of pocket to have my transcript emailed and physically mailed to Walden. Additionally, due to a name change, I was required to upload multiple documents, including my name change documents, marriage certificate, and driver’s license, to their portal. I also completed and submitted a goal statement, following their specific requirements.
After completing every step they required and receiving confirmation that my goal statement was accepted, I was suddenly informed right when I was preparing to start that I had been denied admission. When I asked for the reason, no one could provide an answer. I repeatedly requested clarification, but I was met with silence and vague responses.
To make matters worse, I was encouraged to reapply in six months. Why would I do that when I have no idea why I was rejected in the first place? If there was something I needed to improve, I was never informed. This entire process felt like a complete waste of my time and money. I am left questioning whether discrimination played a role in this decision, given the lack of transparency.
If you’re considering Walden University, think twice. Their enrollment process is misleading, their communication is poor, and they have no accountability when it comes to denying applicants without explanation. Save yourself the hassle, frustration, and money. Look elsewhere for a university that values and respects prospective students.

I wish I had checked this review before starting the program. This has been the worst experience imaginable in any academic journey. I faced an issue with my clinical preceptor, which led the school to put my course on hold. It took three months to resolve the problem, even though the preceptor had no affiliation with the university. As a result, my graduation was delayed by more than six months. On top of that, I was charged twice for the course, wasting both my time and money. If you're considering higher education, Walden University should not even be a last resort. Their poor management, lack of communication, flawed decision-making, and disregard for student support make for a terrible experience. I hope this review helps prospective students and encourages the university to make necessary improvements.

Awful experience as an alumni trying to do a certificate masters program. I uploaded all required documents to CastleBranch and received an email of rejection for me and preceptors after so much stress and money spent in the process. I also had the most difficult time getting someone to verify the pharmacology course I took at this school based on the requirement of state board of nursing in the given state I applied to for the Nurse Practitioner license.
After being given the run around of emailing requests to so many addresses, I received an email about applying on Meditrek to upload documents and request for graduation when I already graduated since 2016 and practicing since then. I was very disappointed that I graduated from a school like this that is not willing to help their students nor alumni. A current student who I told my story answered me, "That's why I told you that I will do my doctorate degree at another school ". I pray that you all improve your customer service.

Walden seemed like the right school for me at the time of my enrollment into a master's degree program. My enrollment advisor used every smooth talking tactics and relatable advice to ensure me that Walden is where I needed to be. I was told that I didn’t need experience to start my career because a master's degree would put me at the top of applicants that had no degree. They even went as far as to say that a master's degree from their school would be great in the eyes of employers because they are number 1 when it comes to their master's degree programs. They allowed me to do an online practicum to gain skills which ultimately left me feeling that I had learned been given the bare minimum with an online practicum.
The worst part was what happened after I graduated. I applied for numerous jobs on my own and I used Walden’s career tools and was denied each time. I graduated in 2019 and as of 2024 I still have no job in the career field I studied for at Walden University. I’ve been left with nothing but years of stress and depression. Every employer was looking for applicants that had between 1-5 years of experience. I had zero years of experience. I was crushed and embarrassed with each failed attempt at getting a job. I’m now having to start over at 39 years old. I’ll be 40 this year. I’ll have to enter myself back into college and it’s a scary process because I don’t want more years of disappointment and wasted time.
I am however grateful that I know what to look for in schools now and that is one that includes internships. and attend a college that sets up internships. What Walden did to me was predatory. They wasted my time, they set me on a downward spiral and affected my mental and physical health. I will never forget what Walden University did to me. I will never forget the embarrassment that I endured each time I eagerly applied for a job not knowing that the employer was going to say no and that I needed more than a degree. I hope the prospective students dig deeper into Walden and every other schools background and check with your state about employment requirements before committing to college. If I’d known what I know now I would never have applied to Walden University.

Initially, I love the school for my MSW program however, when I dealt with a family emergency and needed to take a mental health break, I was charged even though I withdrew before the class start date. It has been a battle just to prove to them that I withdrew in time. I submitted all the paperwork and also reached out to my advisor in a timely manner. I use my military benefits, and they didn’t charge me however, the school is still charging me. I just don’t understand how they continue charging for a course, I withdrew from due to mental health issues due to my father’s passing. I even showed the obituary and everything so at this point I’m not sure what else I can do. I like the school however I think they need better communication and empathy. As a current Master's Tempo student at Walden University, I encourage potential students to thoroughly research not only Walden but also consider other universities as academic resources before applying. My experience as an MBA student at Walden has been disappointing, underwhelming, and a complete waste of significant financial investment. First, the "educators" at Walden are referred to as SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), which seems to be a way to avoid actually educating and instead act as glorified paper-graders. These SMEs are often unwilling to provide guidance or insight into their feedback. When they feel challenged, their response is to stop responding to inquiries for clarification.
When asked for further edification on subjects that are not comprehensible, SMEs typically direct students to the Writing Review Center or send a link to a video on paper structure, rather than explaining what could improve the submission for future real-world application. For example, I was told by an SME that the company I was researching was not a reliable source for its own mission and vision. Instead, I was advised to use a ratings and review platform as a more accurate and credible resource. When I asked the individual overseeing the Tempo program to explain this directive, he stated, "Companies lie all the time. If you go to the webpage for the flat-earther society, you will see that." When I questioned if this comparison was reasonable, given that the company I was researching is publicly traded, and why the company would lie about its mission and vision but an unrelated website wouldn't, he became defensive and refused to answer.
Another SME told me to make changes to a paper simply because she wanted me to, even though these changes were not aligned with the rubric. Additionally, the individual overseeing the program has encouraged me not to ask questions and to just make the changes to my papers without understanding the "why." His instruction was to follow the SME's way in school but do it my way in real life. My reason for choosing Walden was not due to it being a reputable institution or one that would reflect well on a resume; instead, I went with the cheaper option. I am learning the very hard way that cheaper is not better. Had I known this would be my experience in the beginning, I would have avoided this institution at all costs.

All stated opinions are as follows: I am in the doctorate program for social work at Walden University. Through the prospectus stage and overall research (after all classwork was completed with a 4.0 GPA), I began experiencing gaslighting, a matter of opinion versus scholarly writing recommendations, etc., to which I have not been approved for the next stage after spending at least 12k just on the first stage alone, not including previous coursework. Chairpeople, who are the gatekeepers, must be educated to be in their positions as they continue to have conflicting recommendations from other doctorate faculty staff members. I suffered repercussions when I began speaking out and making complaints. I received more comments for recommendations than I previously had on the information that needed to be commented on or recommended for corrections.
My chairperson would tell me exactly how she wanted me to write the title and later tell me it was wrong. In other areas, she would tell me exactly how she wanted me to word it and then later make more recommendations to correct what she said previously. It feels that this is a game, and I am on the losing end as the one with no power. Yet, the faculty state that this is all a normal process. Now I have a new chairperson, and I guarantee you, in the end, it will be the same game. "Yes, these things will work, and you have great information," but will continue to string you along. I even utilized their alignment appointment system with other doctorate faculty who would look at my prospectus and tell me that I have great alignment, only for my chairperson to later state otherwise.
Other doctorate faculty would say yes, this is great, and you should have no problem going on to the next stage with a proposal, only for my chairperson to recommend more changes. They do not have a solid system, and a rubric was never filled out for me during each stage as it should have been. I was just now given the MyDR and Taskmanager link to upload my prospectus with other board members when I did everything in CANVA/Module for previous quarters.
Anyhow, for those who don't fully understand the language here I am using, to be blunt, it all feels like a scam. I think my doctorate is being held hostage. A few years Walden had a lawsuit brought against them for treating ** female students with bias and prejudice, specifically in the doctorate program where they dangle a carrot and tell you to try and catch it but keep pulling it further and further away. Yes, ** students successfully pass and obtain their doctorate. I am sure those are the passive ones who don't seem to have a problem, never make a complaint, and continue to take it until they pass. However, my mama didn't raise a fool, and I am not one to bend over and just take it.
When I ask questions, no one seems to have any logical answers as to what is going on or why things are not linear in this process of making needed corrections, fine-tuning things continually to where you should be able to reach an end after two semesters to then move on to the next stage. If I had to do it all over, I would have gone to where I received my Master's from the University of New England. That was the most challenging but best education I have ever received. They have professionals who will hold you to high standards but also hold themselves to those same standards.
I want to change programs without entirely starting the coursework at another University, such as the University of New England, but that isn't possible. All universities will have you start over if you are this far in the program with your research, so I encourage others to make sure they do not begin the doctorate program at Walden University until they do thorough research.
