I have never had such a horrible experience at a dentist as did at Western Dental. I had to make an emergency appointment for an infected tooth that had to be pulled. The wait time for the dentist wasn't too bad. He said it needed to be pulled and would put me on antibiotics and pain killers. I waited over 30 minutes for the clerk to come in and make a list of things the dentist wanted done. That took 20 minutes or better. This whole time I'm sitting with a swollen face and in pain so bad I had a migraine.
When she was done it was at least another 20 minutes until they moved me for the extraction. 30 minutes later the girl comes in, gives me shots in my mouth and says, "I'll be right back." 30 minutes later, as the novacaine is wearing off, she grabs the instrument to pull my tooth, bruised the roof of my mouth, and as she was twisting and pulling my tooth out made comments about the infection draining out. As a patient I was treated with disrespect, condescending remarks, and the place has a general lack of professionalism. I will not be going back. I do not know how an assembly line dental office can stay in business.
My mouth is still very swollen, I still have a migraine and the only good thing that happened was the tooth was removed. The way patients are treated there, starting with the receptionist and all the other employees is appalling. I was scared and in pain and the was not one person there that was considerate enough to be concerned with my well being. There is no one at Western Dental that shows any kind of compassion for their patients. This is the very worst place to get care done. What should have taken less than 30 minutes took 3 1/2 hours. They are either that incompetent or they drag out to get more from the insurance company. Please use someone else for your dental care; these people don't care and they are horrible at their jobs.

Dr. ** found a cavity under an old filling which They were able to repair with no pain and in a timely manner. Dr. ** has a great touch and genteel manner. Selena made his work go fast and kept up with the procedure like the pro she is. I would refer that team to anyone!

This is by far the most poorly managed dental office I have ever dealt with. They constantly overbook appointments, which results in a crowded, chaotic, and unattractive waiting room. I scheduled an appointment for a simple filling they had previously done that ended up falling out. Despite having an appointment, I was left waiting for over an hour. After that, they took X-rays and sent me to an exam room, where I waited for yet another hour in a loud, stressful environment—only to be told they were too busy and needed to reschedule me for two weeks later.
This has happened to me before. On a prior visit for a filling and a cleaning, they completed the filling but claimed they were too busy to do the cleaning and forced me to reschedule it, even though they had already charged me for the service. Against my better judgment, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned, only to experience the same ongoing mismanagement and chronic overbooking. To make matters worse, there is absolutely no privacy in their exam rooms—no doors, just curtains—while staff and patients constantly walk by and talk around you. I am taking my business, along with my family members, to a more respectable dental practice. I would never recommend this office to anyone.

I am a case manager for health and housing opportunities, I took my client into this facility this location on Grant, and right away the woman in the front. The receptionist had an attitude when we told her that we were there for our appointment and we were on time five minutes early, she stated that she had been trying to reach us that it was the wrong number that she was calling. I had personally given her my number and even have the number on the back of the phone to show them that it was the right number and no one had called. So then she stated that client would have to wait for an hour or two until the dentist came back from lunch and asked client if he would be willing to stay and client decided he wanted to stay because he really wanted to get his teeth were done.
So then after he said he was staying then she prolonged it and stated that it would be 330 before he was even seen that there were people in front of him and pretty much Gave a roadblock for every single time. Client had agreed to comply with the new terms. They do not honor the appointment time, and she obviously did not want to book a appointment or book the client in as she kept coming up with reasons as to not see him after all of that being said and done she stated that they didn’t take his type of insurance which over the phone. They stated that they did take his insurance so he didn’t get to be seen at all. I highly do not recommend this place. The people are rude and they do not care about their clients.

I brought my two children to Western Dental in Pittsburg on a Saturday because that is my only day off work. My sixteen year old was there for his first appointment under our new insurance. He is medically fragile, on the autism spectrum, and is a liver and kidney transplant recipient with chronic kidney disease that has severely affected his dental health. His ten year old brother, also on the autism spectrum, was with us.
Check in went smoothly. No one said anything about me having both children present. They took my older son back for X rays and placed my younger son and me in a room next to the X ray area while they finished. All of my older son's X rays were completed. I heard the tech say she was going to check if an exam room was ready. This is when everything changed.
Three staff members came to the doorway, and one of them immediately spoke to me with open hostility. She told me I was not allowed to go into the exam room with my son. I calmly explained that he is medically fragile and I needed to explain certain medical issues to the dentist. She said that was fine, but then pointed at my ten year old and told me I could leave him in the waiting room alone.
I explained he is also autistic and I was not comfortable leaving him by himself. The waiting room was completely full. We live in a very high density city where there are ongoing issues with ICE presence, gang activity, and child abductions. I was not going to leave an autistic child alone in a packed waiting room where I could not see or hear him due to all of the noise and equipment in the back. The other staff members standing there understood. She did not. She told me it did not matter.
She also repeatedly insisted that they had already finished taking X rays for my younger child, even though my younger child was never scheduled for an appointment and was never X rayed. She had absolutely none of the correct information but spoke to me as though she did, in a scolding and condescending tone. None of this should have involved me. Any confusion should have been communicated between that employee and the X ray tech. A parent should never be spoken to like they are being reprimanded in a healthcare setting, especially in front of patients and children. I asked if she was the manager. She said no. I asked to speak with the manager. I took my sons into the waiting room and asked them to wait outside so they would not have to see any more hostility.
When I spoke to the manager, he told me something entirely different. He said parents are allowed in exam rooms, just not inside the X ray room. But the X rays were already finished. What made it worse was what happened during that conversation. The hostile employee was allowed to sit directly next to the manager the entire time. She was never asked to leave the room. She continued to glare at me, roll her eyes, interrupt, and argue with every single thing I said. The manager did not turn to her one time to correct her. He never said, no, she is allowed in the exam room. He never addressed her behavior or acknowledged that what I was saying was correct. At the end he did offer me an apology, but even then he allowed the hostility from his employee to continue without any correction or accountability. At that point I canceled the appointment and left.
Final thoughts: If you have a medically fragile child, If your child is on the autism spectrum, If you have complex medical needs yourself, Or if you simply expect kindness and professionalism, I would never recommend this Western Dental location. We attend many medical appointments due to my son's health needs, and I have never experienced this level of disrespect, hostility, and lack of communication. Dental care is already stressful for medically complex and autistic patients. This office made it harder than it ever needed to be.

My husband had a dental cleaning and declined the fluoride treatment but he was billed for it anyways. He went to the office to get the billing corrected the staff told him they would not correct his bill even though he stated he never received the fluoride treatment. He ended up paying for a treatment he did not receive. Western Dental how many other elderly patients have you billed for treatments not received. How can I give minus stars? This place is a total scam—avoid the Century Boulevard Inglewood location at all costs. I went in simply to have my crown glued back. Instead, the dentist insisted I needed a full implant replacement: remove the screw from my gum, add a bone graft, wait six months, and then do a new implant. Thankfully, I got a second opinion and another dentist just glued the crown back in minutes—problem solved. On top of that, Western Dental won’t stop spamming me with “new appointment” calls, even though I told them I’m not interested. Be careful—get a second opinion before letting them touch your teeth.

I've been going about a year now. The average wait time is about 2 hours. I've spent about 48 hours in their office altogether. Today I paid for implants and spent about 2 hours in there. It was 6400 for two implants and 2251.76 down payment with a 480 loan offer from Sunbit. They offered to do my other filling today but it would also be an additional office wait as well.

Western Dental & Orthodontics in Loma Linda, California, provided substandard care, marked by mistreatment, disrespect, and condescending behavior. The extraction of my upper teeth was followed by damage to my immediate denture, leading me to file a formal complaint. Unfortunately, this resulted in retaliatory actions, compromising my care and yielding an ill-fitting denture due to harsh treatment from the dentist. Escalating the issue to the manager proved fruitless, as she responded with yelling and unprofessionalism. The treatment I received was unacceptable, and I caution against seeking care here. Having been billed for services not adequately rendered, I intend to seek alternative care to secure a properly fitting denture, a fundamental right that Western Dental & Orthodontics has failed to uphold. I will not recommend this facility to anyone.

One star for the big parking lot. And because there is no "No star" option. My husband, a stroke survivor, was seen at Western Dental on Sunrise Way in Palm Springs on July 15. He had gone in to this office and talked with a locum oral surgeon a couple of weeks ago on July 5 because he had failed implants placed by an office in Nevada and he required other extractions and a root canal. He was told someone would call him on Monday, after that July 5 visit, but no one called. He then attempted to call the office, but, on numerous attempts, he was told the number was disconnected and on another number even the people answering from the Philippines he was told they could not reach anyone.
Finally I drove 14 miles from Palm Desert to Palm Springs to physically go and ask them for their phone number. So there's that. We called the direct number we had located and the person on Speaker phone suggested Tuesday, July 15. We asked the person to repeat the appointment on speaker, mind you. So July 15 at 8:00 AM it was. We arrived at the office as scheduled and were told by the exact person we had scheduled with that there was nothing in the system. "Have you been seen here before?" Waiting? Oh yes! After a bit of paperwork snd commitment to pay we were in the crowded waiting area til 9:30.
Although we had not received the initial promised call to discuss the treatment plan, we thought there would be some extractions, a root canal and a bridge placed. So already we were prepared for a long morning. There were many others taken in to treatment before us and people were pouring in. The staff at the front desk did not move any faster, though. This was like watching a natural disaster but the people responsible for working were in shock.
Paperwork was filled in when a staff member brought the documents to us, but this did not expedite going in as they forgot we were there in the crowd filling the room. Finally my husband went in to the exam rooms. I was called in to talk about the plan about 20 minutes later. I was not prepared for a big open room with no expectation of privacy- everyone can hear all the conversations. Picture a big beauty salon without the smiles. Dr. Pol, the veterinarian on National Geographic TV, gives more privacy to the cows in a barn giving birth.
When I shut my mouth after the shock of seeing this barn of cubicles, I saw my husband sitting in a chair with a young intern person (no name tag). I asked his name and he called himself "Doctor" but he was already explaining what would be done- and that he "thought" he could do the extraction of the most painful tooth. "And if I have trouble the doctor over there can help" was his reply. Not sure his experience level- it did not build confidence. Then the discussion began about doing one procedure then having my husband wait for the oral surgeon who has multiple people in her queue. I was so frustrated- he would have so many hours to wait as the surgeon did her rounds. I started walking him out with his walker because the planning would not have him get everything done.
As a registered nurse for 50 years, I am expecting a provider's office to be crisp and professional. The office manager followed us, making an attempt at peacemaking- And now said the oral surgeon will do it all now, to calm me. I told her I was a nurse and I expect planning to be good but this was very loose and onviously they had conflicting plans. She encouraged me to let them continue because she secured the oral surgeon's time although she was working on other patients. He sat down. I left to wait as they said it would take about 45 minutes. Meanwhile this was supposed to be 6 extractions.
After a half hour or so an assistant came to ask if he takes **. I explained about the hospitalization following stroke. Updated him on med history. He went back in to the surgical area because my husband's treatment had not started except for the **. As my husband explains what went on: The young man started to administer anesthesia. He began some work and then walked away. Time went by and surgeon came by, noticed ** not enough yet. The surgeon started her work when shortly thereafter an elderly male dentist started arguing with everyone about the treatment plan and they squabbled about how to do everything differently. It was ridiculous to have this interaction in front of the patients.
I had waited in the waiting area, around 10:30 went over to get a coffee for 20 minutes. I returned to a very crowded waiting area. People were now, at 11:00, losing their minds about being left to wait around. A person who had waited 3 hours was anxious and trying to get a sense of when she could be seen for her scheduled appt. Finally at 12:15, they asked me to come in the surgery where the surgeon took me aside, gave me some verbal instructions on postop care and took me in to see my husband. The surgeon is only one of several part time doctors. So now he was in a different cubicle. They were going to take him outside in their wheelchair as per procedure.
A man I had not seen before came over with an old zeroxed instruction sheet and started explaining to me some info which contradicted what the surgeon recommended. I said "This contradicts what the oral surgeon told me just now". We continued to have a public discussion across the aisle and the oral surgeon told the assistant what she had said to me. I left to get in my car at the spot where they bring patients out the side door. The car next to me parked 4 inches from my door so I instructed the contradicting man to take my husband back inside where it was cool as the temperature was around 106. He just stayed in the sun with the wheelchair while I had to climb awkwardly and slowly from the passenger side over the console and into the driver's seat. This man parked my husband near the door and my husband got in the car.
Here we are 9 days later and no call has been received for a followup to his condition. My husband insists he will not ever return to Western Dental. I hope the California Board of Dentistry has this circus on their radar, because I will be calling to report the behavior of the licensed professionals. How can a place operate in this way and still afford a rent in Palm Springs? Steer clear of this group. I feel for the front office staff having to be associated with this organization.

I took my wife here for a routine check-up and cleaning and was told she had 8 cavities that needed treatment. They provided an estimate and a letter for her primary doctor to approve the procedure before any work could be done. We scheduled an appointment to return in three days to address the cavities, but suddenly, the number of cavities dropped to 6 according to the doctor’s paperwork, and the dental assistant now there were only 4. Now, my wife feels unsafe getting any work done at this location. They refuse to refund the $990 they charged to my Care Credit account, even though my wife didn’t authorize the charges and her doctor didn’t approve the dental procedure. The last time I went in to have the tech make necessary adjustments cause I'm getting sores on my gums. He raised his voice to me and said, "There's nothing wrong with them". He said there's nothing more he can do and that they were busy, to come back in 2 weeks. There was a total of 6 cars in the parking lot. They had more staff than they had patients. And the quality of my new dentures are so pathetic! I can see through them. And the teeth are too big. I guarantee these won't last very long. Very disappointing and unhappy.

I went into western dental Lodi in Jan for tooth pain and the dentist didn’t want to help me relieve the pain and said I needed a root canal. Finally after asked to have the tooth pulled he said he could do something to help with the pain if I bought gum x out of pocket. I had concerns and asked what happens if the root canal isn’t approved and I have to pay out of pocket for the gum x they said they could guarantee it will be approved. I was hesitant to do this but I was in a huge amount of pain at the time and needed help as they kept trying to convince me not to pull the tooth, then at one point he tried to convince me to pull all my teeth and get dentures (I’m not even 30 yet). Granted I should have had them put this “guarantee” in writing but I couldn’t even think straight with the amount of pain I was in (won’t make that mistake again). Then I went in to pick up the gum x and it wasn’t available. After a few months of purchase around March finally I had an appointment scheduled for my root canal in june and I went in and they said it was denied due to not being “medically necessary”.
I said they told me they could guarantee it would get approved if I purchased this gum x thing and told them they had a responsibility to complete this. They wanted me to pay out of pocket for the root canal (I cannot afford it) hence why I’m on medical, and asked them to then cancel the gum x being I never picked it up and they scammed me into purchasing it under false pretenses and while I was in pain and took advantage of the fact that I was in distress and needed immediate help. They tried to tell me it was not possible to cancel and I said I spoke with corporate and it can be cancelled. They just have to submit the form. The ladies were very rude as was the Dentist and finally the manager here said she would cancel it “tomorrow” because she was too busy to do it. Then when I asked for copies of the paperwork, this was on 6/3/25 it’s been a week and has not yet been cancelled. They also never answer the phone.
This was a terrible experience and was almost like I was at a car sales place with how much they pushed me to spend money out of pocket in order for them to help treat me. Not to mention when I got my teeth cleaned the dentist was very rude and very rough causing me more pain than I was already in. I’ve given birth twice with no epidural. I don’t have a low pain threshold however that pain was ridiculous. Not to mention I was unable to take anything at this time as I was pregnant with my second child during this process. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

I unfortunately am not the only patient who experienced this disorganized chaos; I saw several other patients waiting hours for their scheduled appointments only to be met with dismissive responses and zero regard for their time.
The three times I’ve been here have been an absolute disaster. It shouldn’t be this hard to get dental work. I have to go to the Western Dental office on Cohasset in Chico, CA with my HMO insurance plan so I don’t have a choice in providers. I have contacted my insurance for another option because I do not want to pay these people thousands of dollars for dental work that may or may not get completed. I will say that Dr. ** is amazing, she makes me feel comfortable, takes her time and is very knowledgeable. If you have a choice go somewhere else. I just went, got my teeth cleaned, and left. Second, I used my credit card and “transaction declined.” But my bank confirmed that the transaction went through. So they wanted me to reschedule! If my 82 yr old mom wasn't there, it would have got ugly!! VERY RUDE STAFF, both visits.. My x-ray visit was pretty strange to say the least. So we exchanged words I asked for mgmt.. they thought it was funny! They started calling my cell phone with a private #! The manager was not at all like a dental office should be!! No patients waiting & only 16 min late with an 82 yr old woman driving. WOW! REALLY.. Here's screenshots of the calls..
