We had a horrific experience in 2021 that started when Safeship finally showed up to our house representing a vendor named “FebEx,” which was a logo just like the “FedEx” logo only with a “b” instead of a “d.” This was not a company we had any idea we’d be doing business with when we signed with Safeship. When doing research on “FebEx” the listed address was found to be a vacant lot in Reno, NV.
We ended up being without all of our belongings for over 3 months with Safe Ship having no knowledge where our belongings were, were completely unhelpful and often times condescending, all while we were directed from the carrier to wire more money to an unknown number from a Russian guy named “Mikhail” who told us that if he didn’t receive these funds we would never see our things again. We were then led to multiple other invoices from different companies, each with a different name, contact, and address. We did have an attorney involved who was working to untangle all of the different contacts and “companies,” realizing quickly that these were all shell companies used cover their tracks.
Safe Ship operate as liars, thieves, and scammers. Most of the reviews on this site and others (BBB, etc..) are fake. Safe Ship spends hours having their employees write fake reviews to trick you all into using them, thus enabling them to continue the scam. They lie, they take, and use constant pressure tactics to feed their giant deposit bank. Because at the end of the day that’s all they are - a deposit bank. Once they get your initial deposit they are out. They are not honest about that and they are definitely not upfront about how they operate. “Veteran owned”, “take care of you from start to finish”, it’s all complete bullshit to take your money. Then they blame the carrier - who in many cases the consumer is not aware that there will be another entity or company involved. In the end we were upcharged and then extorted for $1000s more than we expected to pay. It was one of the worst experiences of my life

It took almost 8 weeks for my items to arrive, many damaged or completely broken. There was mildew and mold on many of the pieces, my items have been left out for a great deal of that time. It took three attempts, two deliveries that had none of my items in them, to receive my goods. Out of those three deliveries, two of them the movers arrived at my home after 10:30 PM. I received no return calls, or my number might’ve been also been blocked because I was getting an error. Message of this number is no longer in service, and I was really quite patient and kind throughout the whole process.
I just wanted to get my family's pieces back in my possession. I would not recommend this company as they put it off to be my own responsibility to deal with the contractor that they hired to complete the move of my items. They were not willing to help because they said it was in the contract that once I signed that paper. It is all my responsibility and none of theirs. I would not recommend this company or their services.

These guys gave us a quote that we knew was not the lowest but we'd gone to them after getting a much lower quote from another company that was just too good to believe. All seemed to be fine until a couple days before the scheduled move. Our representative called up my husband to get a detailed listing of what we were moving.
We had a lot to move and had told them that up front. Well during this detailed call, we were told it was going to cost us another 6,000+ dollars. So since we're now on the hook, we pay the difference to Safe Ship and prepare to pay SOS Moving an additional amount at both the beginning of the move and upon delivery. We were told the team would be there on Friday May 1st or 2nd to pack up our things and that we would get a call from SOS Movers. So we planned accordingly only to find out when we didn't hear from the moving company that no they will arrive to pack us up on Sunday May 3rd.
The packing team was late arriving having told us they would be there at 12:30. After a call from us to Safe Ship, the driver tells us that they were going to be late by 45 minutes. An hour and a half later, no movers and no communication. Now my husband texts the driver who tells us they had to wait on a ferry to get to our location which is why they were late. They finally get there about 3 hours later than expected. Only 2 of the guys could speak english well, which is not a big issue except that they were not able to follow directs from anyone other than the two who could speak english and one of them was in the truck packing the items so he was not accessible.
On a side note, they brought 2 box trucks to load us on and one of them leaked oil in the driveway. Oil ended up getting tracked into the house on the newly shampooed carpet. Anyway, they asked for a first available and last available delivery date and we gave them May 12 -16th. This factors in later because when the 16th came along, Safe Ship had no idea that we had given them this date and told us they had until June 4th to deliver our items. Nonetheless, Safe Ship told us that our delivery date was to be May 21st. This date supposed came from him talking directly to the driver who was delivering our stuff. This date came and went with Safe Ship now telling us various things from it was up to SOS Movers who had until June 4th to deliver, to SOS would get ahold of us the day before delivery to, no one here told you that date.
Finally a person who knew the person who told us the 21st delivery date had him call us. He in turn called the driver who now said the delivery would be the 23rd or 24th. On the 23rd we finally hear from the driver himself who said he would be here on the 25th. On top of all the confusion about where our items are, we are now told that the trucking company who had our stuff is named Black Ice Transportation. In questioning Safe Ship about this they said that it is still SOS Movers and that Black Ice is representing them. News to us that another trucking company was going to be involved.
In the meantime, my husband starts questioning what he is driving because it sounds like it is one truck when they picked our stuff up in 2 box trucks. We find out our items had been moved from the two trucks into a semi trailer and is combined with someone else's items. My husband had told Safe Ship in the very beginning that we were moving onto a cul-de-sac and a semi trailer would not be accommodated, which was their reasoning for sending two box trucks to pick up. Well, the driver now agrees that there is no way he is getting a semi trailer onto the street and be able to turn around. His suggestion was that we hire people to meet him some place to unload his truck and bring to us OR he can hire people to unload and bring to us in smaller trucks for more money.
Well again Safe Ship is of no help in this situation and tell us we have to pay the extra $2000 Black Ice now wants and that this is a standard practice in this situation. As if we hadn't already been feeling this way, we now feel as if our items are being held hostage. On the 24th, the driver from Black Ice now calls back and says his truck has broken down and it was going to be the 26th before he could deliver. While it is understandable that a truck can break down, why can't another semi some get the trailer and deliver instead of now holding the trailer up additional time for a repair?
After another call to Safe Ship... the driver now calls back and said he is going to be able to make it on the 25th after all. He said that he was told that if he didn't he was going to be fired because my husband had called the company and complained about him. Yes he did. Not only was our items finally delivered on the 25th, the driver showed up with a crew of two and a truck that they offloaded our items into and then delivered to the house. The driver demanded payment of the agreed amount and the additional $2000 up front before delivery. What a joke of a company!
DO NOT HIRE SAFE SHIP or SOS MOVING or BLACK ICE TRANSPORTATION! Safe Ship did try somewhat to communicate information to us when we called them, but bottom line their response was that they are a broker and not a moving company. We had a big move but in the end we ended up paying about $20,000 to get our items to our new home with all the added money Safe Ship and Black Ice squeezed from us. There are also items that were destroyed and damaged in the move. Safe Ship takes no responsibility for this either. We have to claim that with SOS Movers. Do you think that is a transparent process? We will see. The request has been made to place a claim but if the delivery driver's reaction is any indication, we won't see anything come of it. He was real quick to point fingers at others involved. DO NOT USED THESE GUYS!!!

That was the most unprofessional moving experience I have ever had. I have never moved from one part of the country to another, so this was a first, and if I can help even one person from experiencing the same pain and horrible things that I did- this is worth it. I have moved within my home state many times. When moving within my state, we used local movers. However when we had to move from the North to South coast of US, we heard that if we went with a broker, they’d be able to help make sure we had a good experience.
This was by far my worst experience EVER. Once we paid them money for them to help coordinate a move- they became UNREACHABLE. Never answered our calls. And the guy who was the “owner” all of a sudden had a phone number that was out of service and no one was able to contact them for help. Extremely shady business and I would give zero stars if possible. They are crooks and it’s hard to find this company is listed as a legit business.

If you can use ANY other company, do it. Safe ship and BLVD movers are SCAMMERS! They will give you a reasonable quote to win your business, then add on additional BS fees throughout your moving experience. Customer service is useless and unhelpful. They care about your money…..not the customer. You give any type of push back and they will hold your stuff hostage. They will ROB YOU and take advantage of a stressful situation. My entire experience isn’t even worth typing out. Just do your research. Don’t trust a word Safe Ship says or their rating online. They made my families move across country a nightmare.

Do not trust the initial quote this company gives you. Safe Ship operates as a broker and utilizes a highly calculated timing trap to secure your deposit and then inflate your moving costs under extreme duress. They lock you in with a low phone estimate, then deliberately delay their inventory "verification" call until after your contractually allowed cancellation window has already closed. Once your deposit is trapped and you are just days away from your moving deadline, they hit you with massive, unverified volume increases. To make matters worse, they utilize an electronic mobile contract system that actively overrides and hides your original lower quote, forcing you to click through a new agreement just hours before pickup or risk being stranded.
Once the actual trucking company they hired arrives, standard electronic banking and credit card protections are stripped away, and you are forced into strict cash-on-demand handovers at both pickup and delivery. While your goods are already in transit, they use the carrier to extort surprise last-minute "shuttle fees" at destination, threatening to withhold your life's belongings unless you hand over thousands more in un-itemized cash before they will open the truck doors. This is a textbook hostage-load pricing scheme executed by a predatory broker.
