Wow how evil of an app lets me buy bitcoin. Do facial scans and I.D. scans for verification to send to my other crypto wallet and as soon as I hit the send button it's not available in my region. So I sell the bitcoin as it's useless and I'm supposed to wait 7 days now when they take your money instantly. You can't talk to a real person. Only a chat bot and I spent $25 dollars off my card to get 20 back and never received the money! Every other wallet gives you the money quickly. Not Venmo! Thanks for screwing me over. I will never recommend this app to anyone or use it ever again. It's a rubbish money trap!

I have used Venmo for several years to make payment transfers. No more! They froze my account stating my bank info was incorrect, but I have used the same bank over 2 years. I called, hard to reach customer service! and they said maybe my bank changed their routing number! WTH? It is 10 days later, three phone calls to Venmo, still not resolved. It became obvious the customer service is NOT in the US. Account is still frozen, I can't access it even to close it.

I paid a a few hundred dollars into my Venmo Visa account and then got three different statements from live people as to why my money was not credited to my account. This is over 15 days of being told my payment was “on hold”. I took the money out of my saving account where it could be earning interest versus lost in the Venmo rabbit warren.

If you are thinking of getting a Venmo debit card, don’t. Worst banking and customer care I’ve ever dealt with. They have been “investigating” a dispute of a refund I requested because of being sent a broken item. The vendor directly contacted me and told me to tell them to refund me for the charge. I can’t get anyone but customer care on the phone who keeps telling me the same BS generic response to be patient and wait until it concludes. That told me 50 days it would be concluded, I’m not on 2 months and still no response or idea as far as why it is still under investigation. This place plays with people’s hard earned money. Don’t bother ever using them.

I recently tried to use Venmo. Set up everything and paid a test small amount to test. After awhile it finally went through. 2 days later wanted to pay the rest. Same person, same debit card. 5 days later still trying to send another. MULTIPLE attempts to reach help. Chat, etc. NADA. Finally after 5 phone call attempts a ** gentleman answered and his genius advice was to stop trying and wait awhile. I told him I have waited now a day at a time and tried 6 -8 times in the past 5 days. How many more days must I wait, His response?? Wait awhile longer. Sometimes it is blocked so just wait awhile longer. SERIOUSLY!!! VENMO support is non existent. Hope they go out of business soon or get replaced by something that actually works and have customer service. THey have a BETA chat bot that is like a 3rd grader. SAD.

I had someone reach out to pay by Venmo which the transaction was stalled so I contacted Venmo on my end and was informed to go through Cash App and bitcoin and all this. Needless to say they removed $410 out of my account. Could not tell me where it went. It was not authorized for them to removed $410 to have $400 transferred to my account. Venmo steals your money. Do not use Venmo.

This company is not here to protect you or your money. Do not treat them like a regular banking institution or you will be sorry. I was sucker for the receive your pay check early. But once my account went -$1.92 they froze my account for 7 days. You know most think, "Hmmm simple payment simple fix." Yea I paid it right off and these goofies kept my account locked. Guess who didn't receive their pay. NEVER USING THIS APP AGAIN!

I've used Venmo for a few years now with no issue. Yet, when a payment went through before I could update the new expiration date, they froze my account. I followed the steps in their email, waited the 5 days they said was necessary, and chatted with their customer virtual assistant. I finally found their customer service number buried in small print (855-204-4090). After several times listening to their options, none include talking to a real person, I was somehow connected. The lady was friendly but had no control to fix anything. She simply said I had to wait longer. This is terrible customer service. For dealing as a bank more should be done to assist people with their own money.

I’ve always used Venmo the straightforward way, i.e., paying people directly who also had Venmo accounts. Recently, I decided to get a Venmo Debit Card. Venmo sent me a message promising that if I had a direct deposit go into my Venmo account, I’d get access to those funds 2-days early. I did exactly that. Now, despite having several thousand dollars sitting in my Venmo balance, they are outright refusing to let my debit card charges go through. I’ve had six separate transactions denied.

When I called customer service, I complied with every request they asked of me, including sending a photo of my driver’s license and a selfie holding my license next to my face for verification. The rep told me, “I’ve made an adjustment, your charges should go through now.” But guess what? They don’t. This isn’t just frustrating, it’s unacceptable. Venmo is holding my money hostage while I’m being treated like a suspect, not a customer. At this point, I don’t have a choice. I’m moving my direct deposit back to my bank, transferring every last dollar out of Venmo, and walking away for good. If a company can’t even let me spend my own money after following all their rules, it’s time to find a service that actually values its users.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Took me 4 times of chatting in for 45 min each time to finally get a phone number to call. Called that number three times before I got a person. Sat on hold for 50 min. Got through to someone who told me he couldn’t help me. My daughter tried to set up an account under mine, and they locked us both out and won’t let us access our money or send payments.

They have awful customer service. If any thing goes wrong with a transaction they will not help in any way. They will tell you to contact the person you sent the money to, or received the money from, which isn't always a possibility. They have no care for the customers themselves, only what they can make off of them. Once I started using CashApp a few years ago, I almost never use Venmo. CashApp is the much better platform all around.

App is garbage, allows me to send money to some people, not all, it’ll let me send money to one person one week and next week I can’t. Can’t add all my cards also. Going to stay on Cash App.

Venmo froze my account when I tried to transfer funds, leaving me stranded on side of road with nothing but my Venmo card. They refused to help me solve the issue, leaving me stranded. I pleaded them to fix the problem and said 5-7 business days, they would release the funds that were frozen. I'll just sit here and wait. Thanks, Venmo. I won't be using it anymore. Don't trust Venmo.

Terrible that they don’t fix something you want to dispute due to a scam. It’s a ridiculous app made for no reason when it’s better ways to send money. I was scammed and when I requested back the person denied it so sent them the person denying it and they still won’t resolve not to mention, they suspended my account after for no reason.

I used Venmo when I was starting out crocheting. I made a few things here and there for friends and they paid me for the material cost. After a while, I realized I could actually sell these, so I tried to open a business account and they flagged it and suspended me. They didn't give a reason but after a few hours on Google, I think it's because they think I was doing full blown sales for profit. I did have not have my friends check "for goods and services" because they were not paying me for goods and services, just materials. I was doing the work for free. If you are just a regular person with a hobby thinking about starting a business account with them, I'd think again and go somewhere else.

Sent my son money. They said he needed to upgrade to commercial account which he did. Then they froze the assets for 21 days. Other issues as well. Do not recommend.

Thanks, Venmo, for freezing my account, and then, upon unfreezing, I have to wait 7 days for emergency money that I should have gotten instantly. Your supposed risk assessments of transactions are bogus. Because of this, I will have no food for 4 days. I won't be able to get to work for 2 days, thus losing more money. You guys are a junk company. Not even the phone rep could even help. What is the point of using this app to get money in an emergency. It defeats the purpose of your existence. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

My experience with Venmo has been extremely frustrating. What should be a quick and convenient way to send and receive money often turns into a stressful process. One of the biggest problems is random payment declines and account limitations. Transactions sometimes fail without a clear reason, even when everything is set up correctly. On a few occasions, my account was flagged for “security reasons,” and I was temporarily unable to access or transfer my funds. For an app that people rely on for daily payments, this is a major issue.

Customer support is another weak point. It’s very difficult to get timely help, and most responses feel generic and don’t actually address the problem. When your money is involved, delays and vague answers are simply not acceptable. Additionally, the instant transfer fees are quite high, and standard transfers can take longer than expected. For a platform that markets itself as fast and easy, the overall experience doesn’t live up to that promise. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Venmo if you need a reliable payment app. There are better alternatives that offer more consistent performance and better customer support.

This is the worst run of any apps I have ever used. After two months of trying to send money to friends and contacts, over a dozen calls to the help line the only advice I ever got was 'wait awhile and try again'. Keep in mind the issue had been going on for over 2 months, no amount of waiting impacted anything. No one in the dozen calls to the help line was of any use at all. They created 6 IT service tickets and not one was ever actioned on or followed-up on. I wouldn't recommend using Venmo to anyone I know.

After years and years of transaction, this one is a new one... I attempted to make a transaction today and it was declined. So, I called my bank to ensure everything was in order, and it is. I went back to Venmo and tried a different payment account, and then even a different amount with no success. Chat help was of no use, so I was able to track down the number to their outsourced customer service. They Have frozen my account because the my innocuous transaction triggered a security flag and that the system is working through it.

When ask to have the flag removed, I learned that there is NO method for human interaction with the system and that I just have to wait 24 hours, but maybe longer, but they couldn't be certain. As much as I tried to escalate this to someone who can effect a resolution, Customer Service would not transfer me. I am thankful that CashApp is always available to send money securely and without having to deal with any self righteous antics where they feel they have to save me from myself. There was nothing unusual or suspicious about sending money to someone to repair their vehicle. Just piss poor customer service, and the unwillingness to resolve the issue.

I would NEVER have my bank account attached to my Venmo. Had fraud, told them as soon as the charge hit. Venmo told me they could not stop the pending fraud. I had to wait until it processed. They DEBITED MY BANK ACCOUNT FOR THE ENTIRE FRAUD AMOUNT. called AGAIN and disputed. After research, they denied it! I had to send PAYPAL a certified letter to get my money back. Yes, PayPal owned Venmo. Ultimately, they sent me a check for the fraud disputed amount. It was a headache. Venmo does NOT have your back. You can pay me on Venmo, but you will NEVER have access to my bank account again. It took me 3 months to get my money back. PayPal, the parent company did have my back. Run run run. Zelle is so much better. I’m sure the CashApp is better, but have never used it.

Do not use if you have a business. I accepted a $69.00 charge. It charged a fee which is fine. Then put the remainder of the money on a 21+ day hold for $67. It's not even like I'm new to Venmo. I have had a personal profile for 5+ years. Their service has gone so far down the drain that I wouldn't recommend Venmo to anyone, it would be easier and faster to go into a bank, get the money all in pennies and mail it across the country faster than it would take to get your money from Venmo. I tried to leave a review in the app store but it won't let you. If I could leave a 0 star review I would.

Worst excuse for a half ass mobile Bank ever! They have my money in there. I got accidentally locked out of my mobile app with then when I change to a different phone number. First they wanted an ID to verify my identity so I sent it pictures of both sides. They said it expired which it had a week ago so I went and got another one but now they don't want a ID anymore. Now they want to know what card number was it attached to the account which I haven't used any of that in a while. The only reason is because they sent me an email that said if I didn't sign into my account that they would freeze it and send my money to the state controller so I know my username I know my password the email address is still the same. I just changed my phone number and they verified the phone number even but they will not verify me and therefore not even allowed.

Mr Mike or Dave or whatever is liar name is but not letting me talk to a supervisor because he said he couldn't verify who I was even though he called me by my name. I don't even know how much money I have in there and they won't tell me and I don't really care because I hate them and I will never use them no matter what. They are the most horrible customer service, horrible app, horrible people that have ever encountered on the internet. I highly recommend never using it and you may as well stay away from PayPal too because they're supposedly merged but you can't send venmo to PayPal and you can't send PayPal to venmo but if you call them venmo answer the phone and say PayPal. It's a train wreck of a disaster of a horrible company that is obviously just stealing money.

Why you're forced to rate with at least one star is ridiculous because they don't deserve anything. They suck. They don't care who you are when you're putting money in but God forbid try to get into your account even if you know your password and try to take the money out and see what happens. You could give your DNA profile and it wouldn't be good enough and if you ever get Dave or Mike or whatever is a liar name is tell him I said ** you.

Venmo’s dispute system is extremely frustrating and unreliable. I submitted a claim for an item that was clearly not as described — defective, poor quality, and completely different from what was advertised. I provided full evidence: photos, communication attempts with the seller, and proof that the original listing was removed. Their platform also failed during the process — I couldn’t upload documents due to repeated errors and had to go through support to get my evidence attached. The result? My dispute was denied with zero explanation.

When I asked why, support told me they don’t have access to the reason and that I need to send a physical letter by mail to request it. This is not only inefficient — it’s unreasonable and feels like a deliberate barrier. A financial service that handles disputes this way is hard to trust. If clear evidence is ignored and no explanation is provided, what is the point of buyer protection? Very disappointing experience.

I sent a Venmo to Venmo payment. The payment ended in a PayPal account. Why? Why? Neither Venmo or PayPal will help. They keep referring to each other. I give up trying to correct this.
