Accountability, responsibility is not SimpliSafe concern for consumers. The People that keep them in business. No longer offices in America. All in India. They cut integrity for a higher standard. They tap charge cards without permission and has become a thing to worry about your finances and privacy folks. The owners are greedy and lost all values once was a pride of American businesses. Now it’s about control and no longer about the consumer! I think the battery cost is ridiculous but due to refurbished items. The cost a service that seems to always be offline. The SimpliSafe is not impressive nor do they have my respect. The India move changed the company and it’s not all that folks. Been in it for decades and thinking of dropping. I have nothing most of the time as it stands now. I have cameras and neighbors that are probably better than a company run from India. Sad and disheartening.

I've had SimpliSafe for almost two years and it's absolutely terrible. I'm so tired of being locked out of my own house or unable to lock the door because of app or system issues. It happens over and over. Yes, batteries are full and that's not the issue. Just constant failing to work or the app has an error. I wanted the SimpliSafe door lock so it would work with the rest of the system but it is complete junk. One of the issues is when the back door lock won't work and also won't let me use my regular key so it's just completely stuck. Also the motion sensor that came with my kit has never worked despite being installed correctly and showing in app as working. I hate that I have to spend money on something else and now have two separate apps. Do better SimpliSafe!

If I could give NEGATIVE stars I would! I was sick and sleeping one day and 2 cops came to my house stating there was a duress call made to them by my alarm. I did NOT receive any notification from SimpliSafe, nor did I send any kind of duress call. I was SLEEPING. I advised the officers that day that I didn't even know how to send something like that or that it was even an option. He told me to call the alarm company. I called them and they stated that there was a sensor that was not responding and had me change the battery. I told them that this was a giant flaw in their system if they send out a distress call to the police and nothing to me if a battery dies. I then received a bill from the police department for $110 for a "false alarm."
I called SimpliSafe again, and after being transferred 3 times was told that there was a "duress pin" entered into my keypad. I told them that I was sleeping and that I didn't even have a duress pin or know what they were talking about and also told them what I was told the day that the alarm happened. She said "not sure why that representative said that, but she was wrong." She then said that they would not do anything about the fine I received or assist in any way.

The initial experience was great, ordering and getting what we needed. We did have a couple of bumps in the road when we ordered some magnets for our windows that we had to have, and they kept sending us the wrong size. It was kind of a little difficult in communicating with them. It was a very confusing situation that happened. But the system is easy to use. We only use it for the cameras. We don’t really use the alarm part of it. But we feel good about it. We would recommend SimpliSafe. It was less expensive than the other big name, and it does the same thing.

I saw SimpliSafe at Best Buy and went with it because I could put it in and maintain it myself. When I first got it, I loved it. I even had two or three family members get it. However, the system has been good at times, but sketchy at others. I keep having major issues. I've been paying for monitoring for months now and I don't even have it operating ‘cause it keeps going off all by itself. I usually try and fix that myself, but I can't get it to work right. I haven't talked to anybody about it yet though.

SimpliSafe is the most fraudulent anti-burglary, home security equipment on the market. Not only did they force me to spend $573.08 on outside cameras, battery solar chargers, and motion sensors that simply didn't work after 4 service calls to their equipment maintenance service (OnTech 1), but they simply refused to provide me a full refund when I returned said equipment, despite a statement on their website that they are 100% guaranteed to work or my money would be refunded. What is even more of a joke is that they expected me to buy a ladder that that would reach to the top of my house (16 feet in the air) to make adjustments and replace batteries in the cameras they provided me. I am a disabled US Marine Combat Veteran and Senior Citizen with a bad hip and knee, yet they claim that their security equipment is a favorite for Veterans and Senior Citizens.
Finally, when you speak with them, all of their Customer Teams are based in foreign countries where their agents can't speak English very well. So if you need security equipment for your home, you need to run away from SimpliSafe. They are liars, thieves for your invested money, and they are by far one of the deceitful merchants I have ever dealt with. All of their advertising and guarantees are false, and you are warned to disregard their pleas about serviceability and equipment functionality. Besides, there are other home security companies like ADT who don't require you to purchase ladders to maintain their equipment when something goes wrong. Totally pathetic, fraudsters in every way.

I live by myself up in the hills in Tennessee at the end of a dead-end road and I’m concerned about intruders. I saw SimpliSafe’s TV ads and they seemed to explain things clearly. Their marketing is good because it caught my attention. My son-in-law doesn’t have SimpliSafe, but he said he wishes he had gotten it and told me to get it. So, I did. Right now, I've got to get one of the cameras down and get it recharged. The batteries run down. I'm 80 years old and I just don't get around to all that stuff.
Last night, I was paying attention because I have a motion detector at the bottom of my driveway, and it went off. There was a warning about it. But nothing happened. Still, the customer service is good. Sometimes, I’ll go outside and forget to turn the alarm off in the morning and it goes off, and somebody calls right away. Plus, they call my son because he’s the referral if something happens here. Those calls are instant. My experience with SimpliSafe had been fine. It’s about what I expected.

My brother has SimpliSafe and he showed me his setup. By paying a little extra for the monthly monitoring, you can see it from your laptop, and it works great. SimpliSafe doesn't bind you by a contract. We've had ADT in the past and when we moved to another house, we couldn't transfer it without a cancellation fee. SimpliSafe is not hardwired and I installed it myself. It doesn't take a lot of space. It seems reliable and the fees are fairly reasonable. We got the one that comes with the system so I can monitor our other property and do it where we’re at. It seems to be working okay for us. There’s a little peace of mind, but if somebody wants to get in, they’re going to get in. Nothing’s 100%.

The solar panels doesn’t keep the camera charged and at 72 I still have to climb a ladder to charge 2 of them. Paid $500 to have professional installed by Simplysafe and contact help center. They tell me to try and relocate the camera. It’s as if I now work for simply safe as a technician. Some cameras are problematic. The picture is great, very clear if you can keep them charged. I was going to get the full service but if I can’t keep the camera on line what make me think they can monitor them and if the camera had a problem I’m sure they’d call me to fix the problem. The front door camera is black and white and hard to tell who’s at the door by their picture. I guess they are better than nothing. Definitely not a hands off system as Sean Hannity on FOX news advertises.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: We bought this alarm a little over 6 months ago. After the 1st couple of months the door sensor quit working. I'm 82 years old, and both my wife and I are senior citizens. We live in a rural setting and we were concerned about our vulnerability. Before I had SimpliSafe, I was the security, along with a bunch of solar-powered devices that I surrounded the house with, and they are still there. So, people get lit up when they come in. There are also two alarms outside that go off with a blinking red light, but I wasn't satisfied and so we added SimpliSafe.
We have a driveway alert system. The driveway is several hundred yards, so we know when somebody first turns in and their progress as they come down the driveway closer to the house. It allows us time to hit the panic button if we need to before someone has a chance to actually attempt to breach the house.
We've been customers for a number of years now. When something was not working or we needed to make adjustments to the system, we would call support and they would walk me through making the corrections. They were wonderful, and I enjoyed talking with them.
Once, we were in the house when the alarm went off, but we never found anything inside. My wife was on the phone with SimpliSafe while I was checking out the interior of the house, heavily armed.
I have recommended SimpliSafe, and at least 2 people have installed SimpliSafe at their homes.

I wanted to have everything secured and my biggest concern was perimeter security. I learned about SimpliSafe through a radio commercial and ended up signing with them. The system hasn't been tested but so far, I like the remote access on the cellphone to look at the camera. SimpliSafe is expensive though. I put an Eufy system in at our church and there is no monthly fee.
Plus, if the Wi-Fi goes down for any reason, the system continues to record if it's tripped by sound or motion. Then, when the Wi-Fi comes back up, all the cameras upload to the base station. That is not a feature that SimpliSafe has. When we lose the Wi-Fi, we lose the whole system and that's a real weakness. Also, Eufy cameras have solar panels on top of them which are all they need to keep being charged. SimpliSafe doesn't have that. I continue to have them only because of the momentum of having it installed and being too lazy to switch over. But I have thought of canceling SimpliSafe and going to an Eufy system.

SimpliSafe is affordable and very easy to work with. I became interested in their service after my grandparents passed away to help secure their house while we were selling it. I bought my unit secondhand and it was an outdated tower. And SimpliSafe switched it out to the newer tower or central brain free, with no charge, even though I bought it secondhand from somebody else. They were excellent. So far, I've had no problems with the unit's functionality and it has worked a couple of times for me. It's also extremely easy to communicate with SimpliSafe. They always answer day or night. With SimpliSafe, I feel safe and secure, and I don't have to worry at night.

The only two types of interactions I've had with SimpliSafe were through call and chat. For chat, I’ll send a chat on their website if I have an issue. Like when my key fob stopped working, I sent a message and then they sent me out a new key fob.
For calls, they would call to verify whenever the alarm went off. However, they've changed the way they do that now because they'll first send a text, and it hasn't ever gone past that. My only concern is that it’s another layer of communication. If the alarm triggers, will they be waiting for me to respond to the text? Does a no response mean they would escalate, like immediately dispatch fire or police, or call me to see if everything's okay? If it's immediate, then I guess that's okay. Fortunately, we haven't had to have anybody dispatched. It has always been us forgetting to turn the alarm off.
We've had SimpliSafe for five years now. It's been okay, but it hasn't been all roses and cakes. I would recommend it, especially to someone in a position to go wireless, but I would make sure that people are aware that it only uses the 2.4 gigahertz wireless band, which is severely impacted by microwaves. Door and indoor cameras lose connectivity about 20% of the time. So, whenever we get a notification that it detects somebody at the front door, not a doorbell ring, and we go out and look at the video, it says we've lost the video.

The issue I have is with the motion detector. It’s not working correctly and I’m getting false alarms. I reached out to SimpliSafe, and they had me try a couple of things, but it kept going off for no reason and it just got to be a nuisance, so I disconnected it. They blamed it on a cat, but it shouldn’t go off just because of the cat. The price is a big deal too because it started out at $19 and now it's up to $24. But it works well, I’ve put a couple of SimpliSafes in for my boss too.

Don't waste your money. I purchased 3 outdoor cameras and 1 doorbell directly from SimpliSafe.com to replace my faulty Ring products. However, the SimpliSafe products came nowhere near as reliable or useful as my faulty Ring products. The SimpliSafe products would work fine and connect to the internet properly during troubleshooting, but would then drop connection an hour or two later. Additionally, the products only picked up about 50% of the motion within their field of view. I'd walk right past all the cameras, and none of them triggered a motion or recorded the motion. Also, if it did alert to motion the recorded video wouldn't be viewable because of connectivity issues. I bought an outdoor wifi extender and when installed, that worked great for a couple hours, then it was right back to intermittent connectivity issues. It's not even possible to bring the doorbell closer as it's already attached to the home and still was the worst device regarding connectivity.
I troubleshot with SimpliSafe and they went over all actions with me, I bought the extender and still their products had connectivity issues so it's safe to say the products are defective or need to be better engineered. After all troubleshooting was done, I was still within the 60 day money-back guarantee so I returned the items and re-installed my faulty Ring devices. Both products have issues, but I had less issues with Ring than SimpliSafe. I've had Ring since 2017. It's not 2025 and I'll make sure if I try to swap home security companies again, it won't be with SimpliSafe.

I have SimpliSafe systems installed in my 2 homes. Most of the time they work ... but I get false alarms regularly, have devices disconnect and reconnect mysteriously, and their customer support is terrible. They have no way to reset the system remotely in case of a problem - a big issue when an error occurs while you are 100s of miles away. Having 40 wireless devices connected to these 2 systems means checking for battery life is critical, and replacing batteries before they fail is imperative, but the system tells you the battery is good even if it is low enough for a device to go offline or worse, set off a false alarm. This is probably a good choice for someone with a small apartment who doesn't travel, but is way too painful for big homes when you travel a lot and want peace of mind. Save yourself the heartburn!
