If I could rate this company zero stars I would, price is ridiculous random “gas” fees constantly and on top of that they took one of our personal trash cans try to blame it on us that it fell in their hopper when someone has to physically get out and dump it. Just to say that all they can give us is 25$ toward a new one…. I don’t know about you but never in my life have I seen 25 dollars pay for an outside type of trash cans, that can barely get you a small plastic one that’s for inside the house. But wait it gets better. That same day they only emptied one of the cans and left our other one full. How in the hell do you throw one trash can away empty one and then leave the third one full…. This ain’t Goldilocks and the three cans. Will not continue paying them when they can’t complete the bare minimum tasks.

They are terrible. If there’s a holiday, there’s a good chance they’ll miss your pickup. At least once a month, we receive messages saying they’re having issues and will pick up the next day, but they often don’t follow through. Customer service is also frustrating. If your name isn’t listed as the primary account holder, don’t expect much help—even if your name and payment information are on file. When you call, be prepared to sit on hold for 30 minutes or longer. On top of that, their rates seem to increase every year. I would highly recommend looking into other companies before choosing this one.

Horrible company! Went to a call center for customer service and it is a joke, I have NOT had service for 4 weeks (since I chose them). Excuse after excuse, promise after promise, and I still have a load of trash piling up! Warning!!! Do not use this company!!!!

While their trash service has been excellent, their pricing has gone up beyond all reason. My bill went from $285 to $359 in 3 months. The $126 fuel charge is unacceptable knowing competitors are charging $60 for 3 months of service. To top it off, I called to cancel my service and was on hold for 45 minute and had to end the call. A local Facebook page states they went to the local to find it is closed this week and is not answering their customer service line. Unacceptable business practices. I cannot fault their drivers and service people, they've been great. I better not get one more bill from them.

All I wanted was to get trash and recycling services at our new address, but it just couldn't be that easy.... after a deposit, and no invoices for two months, phone calls telling me that I am behind in payments, and probably the HIGHEST trash bill I have ever had, we are switching services. We have only been with these people for 2 months, and what a rip off. The bill is 3 times higher than CA rates. And, when speaking with the customer service people, they cannot wait to find other ways to charge you money. Cancel, fee, pick up own containers, fee, talking, fee... Give me a break! You people are the WORST!!!

Republic services has been double billing me on two different cards for almost the last year. I had them set up for auto pay, but if you pay the bill in full when it comes out they still charge the card you have set up on auto pay. If you cancel their service, they have a $55 per can pickup and then additional cleaning fee on top of that, and they wont pick up the cans for 2 weeks after the end of whatever month you cancel in. I am being charged $250 for the pickup of 3 trash cans. Other trash providers are WAY cheaper. NEVER get Republic.

Representative Sean assured me through three emails that my heavy trash would be picked up. Each occasion moving the goal post further away from the previous pickup date promised. I will be contacting city regarding abysmal services.

Since signing contract with Burlington County the service in Willingboro NJ has been below expectations. Garfield park and surrounding parks have been subject to missed Garbage Collections. Now just before Memorial Day Garfield again wasn’t picked up on scheduled day 5/22. And once again Residents Garbage will sit on the street until? Worst service I ever experienced in the 26 years of living in Willingboro.

Horrible service, trash blows all over the neighborhood, they do not pick anything up. We had a missed pickup for recycle and after 2 calls and 2 online requests, they said they will not be able to pick it up until next week... 20 minute hold times to speak with a manager.

If I could give this company a negative rating, I would. These people are the worst I've had in 50 years. Starting the beginning of this year, right after paying my bill, my trash was not picked up for 4 weeks. after calling many times from the same day to the following 3 day, each time being told by some guy who could barely speak English that it will be picked up that day or tomorrow. Never happened. I was forced to seek another company, do to neglect on Republican Services. Tried to cancel several times, very difficult to do, and now they call me 2-3 times a week with a recorded message wanting their money for services they have not provided. If they had put as much effort in collecting our trash as they do collecting bills they might do better.

I have been trying to cancel my service with this company because their fee is almost double the other companies in my area and have been on hold for over an hour and 20 minutes. I then tried two other numbers and they transferred me to the same department that does not answer the phone. Also, you cannot cancel online at all. Obviously, they want to make it as hard as possible to cancel. Terrible customer service!!!

Terrible service recently with No excuses or help. Trash has not been picked up for two weeks. I have called both times and told that it would be picked up. Trucks were in the area and to give them time. Still no pickup. Time to find a new trash company. This can’t continue. Terrible service and lots of lies!

Called because recycle pickup missed my house. Was told truck was still in neighborhood and would come back. It did not. Called 3 hours later and was put on hold until disconnected. Absolute worst waste management business I have ever dealt with. Their web site matches. Once you set up an account, you can't get to the report a missed pickup page. It never loads. Pathetic. Not only can they not program a working, useful website, they can't even collect garbage correctly. Don't look for payment from me anytime soon. I will tell you it will be there soon, like the service I got. I would give negative stars if that was an option.

I had my water softener replaced. I looked up on the website to see if they take water softeners. According to their website, they do take them but only under 100lbs. After dragging it to the curb (we are senior citizens mind you), they opted NOT take it. I notified them that they missed it, so they sent some clown out who told me they wouldn't take it because it was over 50lbs (50 lbs less than the 100lbs their site claims). They also said it needed to be emptied (there is nothing about that when you punch in "water heater" on their site (see my screenshot)). So, despite doing what I was supposed to do, they chose not to take it anyway. When I contacted them again, I ended up chatting with someone who absolutely could care less. Said they would try again in two weeks! So now, I have to drag this thing back from the curb (again, we are senior citizens). If I get hurt doing it, I will sue them to the stone age!
The people who work at Republic Services are obviously clueless as to the actual policies, because they just regurgitated what the jerk who came to my door said instead of looking at the evidence presented to them...The person who came out to the house should really be fired for blatantly lying to me (or being completely wrong). Either way, the "supervisor" that they sent out should know his job! The fact that I have the proof, but am still dealing with this grief is beyond frustrating. They are a public utility, they should be accountable to us, but they are accountable to nobody and don't really care. Someone needs to do something about these people. They have way too much power over our lives. Despite doing everything I was supposed to do, I still can't get rid of this water heater and they have every intention of making this as difficult as possible.

I am embarrassed to admit this, because I am partly responsible for not paying attention to my bills. I have been a Republic customer for many years. I am on autopay, and I just toss the bills in the garbage without reading them (admittedly, my bad). But by chance today, I noticed for the first time what they are actually charging me. They billed me $1,051 for standard, weekly, residential service last quarter.
The quarter before, they billed me for $997. I looked up my invoice history on their website, which only goes back 2 years, but they were raising the price significantly every quarter the past 2 years, and were charging me $655/quarter 2 years ago. I called customer service to ask if this was correct, and they confirmed that this was the correct current rate, but they offered me a "loyal customer discount" and lowered my current rate to $673/quarter. I accepted this but then did a bit of shopping and immediately found another service provider who is charging $71/quarter.
I called Republic back and informed them of this - I miscalculated and told them I found another service provider quoting $142.80, and Republic immediately offered me a new rate of $135/quarter. I accepted this but asked if they realized that they had been overcharging me for at least 2 years (and I suspect many more) to the tune of 5 to 7 times the rate they were offering me now (and which may actually be more like 15 times the competitive local rate). They replied that customers are notified of price increases in the monthly bill and are responsible for contacting them if there is an issue. Which, as I said, is my bad for never checking my bills. But it would seem - at least in my case - that their business practice is to jack up their price every quarter for customers like me who clearly are not paying attention, with no apparent limit to how high it will go, if they are charging e over $1K/quarter for standard residential service. Caveat emptor.

My trash has been at the curb since Sunday night (5/3/26) for Monday AM pick up. No pick up. When I called to report it, I was told it would be picked up Tuesday. Nope. I saw a Republic truck the next road over on Tuesday but no one showed up here. Then they said Wednesday. Nope. Then Thursday. Nope. Then Friday by 6PM. It is now after 7PM and still no pick up. I could file a claim and get $1.82 credit even though my latest invoice is over $100. It has increased about 35% in the past year or so. Since Monday is my regular pick up day, if I my trash cart is overfull, they will charge extra -- even though it is actually 2 weeks worth of garbage. The service has really gone downhill while price keeps going up!

For a company That has over 2 BILLION dollars net profit, maybe they could hire some customer service people. Takes hours to talk to a live human, they don't return Emails. The very few they have working seem to do an ok job they just seem burnt out. Every greedy a** in upper management should be fired.

I have been with this company since inception here. I Always pay on time. When you call via phone, you get someone who barely speaks English and has no comprehension. Example.example—-my trash pickup is every Tuesday, early. Thus per their protocol trash to be put out night before or early morning of. This Tuesday they picked up my trash can, left with it. I called they refused to replace until they show up next Tuesday. I stated I have trash now to put in the can. They said, won’t be brought back till morning of. Thus they expect me to sit outside and wait for trash pickup up that day to get my replaced trash can so I can then fill the can up. And this is of course if the actual trash men will wait for this 65 year old woman to complete before they leave. They too are on a scheduled time. times range from 0500 to noon. The actual trash men are competent. I would not recommend this community to anyone.

This is by far the worst ever. I'm ** Family, my business pay for this service and it's not picking up trash. The other business are not having trouble when trash service not picking up. I was charge for service I'm not receive. I might need a lawyer to see if I can get out of contract.

If zero stars was an option I would do so. We have been with Republic since 2021; our rate has slowly gone up, which we understand because fuel costs have increased, taxes have increased, etc. They ran over our mailbox a couple years ago. They have now increased our rate to over $170 for a 2 yard dumpster. I called, spent over an hour over the phone and signed a service agreement that stated my bill will be $140. I confirmed with the representative that my next bill would be $140. I then received an invoice for $453. I spent a little over 2 hours on the phone with multiple different representatives over 2 days; and was still unable to get the amount thoroughly explained, receive an itemized statement, or get my bill lowered to the agreed upon amount.
I was told that I requested an "extra lift" which costs an extra $160, which I did not request, nor did I receive a notification from Republic that I would have an extra lift scheduled, and more importantly that I would be charged an additional $160 for a service that I did not ask for. I then asked how to cancel the account, and I was informed that the representative I spoke with, nor any representative I had spoken to over the last 2 days, does not have the authority to cancel my account and that I would have to wait 48 business hours for my account rep/manager to reach out to me. So now, I still owe $453 when my typical bill was $170. I would not recommend Republic to anyone.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE FOR ONE REASON ONLY. PRICING IS OUTRAGEOUS. IF PROOF IS NEEDED; original contract with the rising pricing for “FUEL” problem is fuel fluctuate and my bill just keeps going up. Never down when prices are down just up…. Do not get this service if you have a specific budget or on a fixed income.

This company has taken fees from my neighborhood while not actually performing pickups for weeks. Multiple neighbors and HOA members tried reaching out to them directly but unfortunately they lied and claimed they did show up- despite multiple people having security footage along with untouched recycling bins to prove it never happened. We have multiple complaints from multiple households here. They even have gone so far as to hang up on neighborhood members who tried to call them for assistance about the issue. At this point we have been left with no option except to report them and leave reviews wherever possible.

They won't accept plastic for bulk pickup, and you are paying them to dispose of your trash. They are kind on the phone, but this is the worst trash company as far as their guidelines. I hate this company!

I’ve had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with Republic Services in Carlsbad. I rented seven roll-off containers and paid over $20,000 specifically for construction recycling services, which includes providing proper diversion reports. That’s not a small job or a small bill—you’d expect a basic level of competence and follow-through. Instead, I’ve gotten the exact opposite. For two months, I’ve been trying to get accurate diversion reports. I’ve made at least a dozen phone calls, and every single time I’m told the same thing: “It’ll be taken care of by the next business day.” That has yet to happen. Not once. No follow-up, no accountability, no urgency. Meanwhile, my permit is about to expire, and the documentation I paid for—and absolutely need—is still nowhere to be found. The lack of coordination and complete indifference to deadlines is staggering.
What’s most frustrating is that this isn’t a complicated request. This is a standard deliverable tied directly to the service they sold me. Instead, I’ve been left chasing them endlessly, with zero results. If you’re considering using Republic Services for construction recycling in Carlsbad, be prepared to do all the legwork yourself—and even then, there’s no guarantee you’ll get what you paid for. For a company charging premium prices, the service is anything but.

I canceled my service over two weeks ago. The reason was that they went up in price 3 times in one year. That's ridiculous. When I called to cancel they said it would be $57.00 to come by and pick up my trash bin, which is crazy high in my opinion. They charge you $99.00 to drop it off and $57.00 to pick it up. Two weeks ago, I closed out my account by removing auto pay and my credit card. The girl I talked to on the phone assured me that I would receive my final bill in the mail. She even said I would get a discount on picking up the trash bin.
Well, I saw my credit card was charged today, after I removed my credit card, for three months in advance service even after I removed my credit card! So that was illegal because that was an unauthorized charge! I spent an hour on the phone with customer service. They finally picked up after transferring me to different people. They said it would be two weeks for the charge to go back on my credit card. Two weeks! That's insane. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

We were customers for several years, until their prices became extremely high $240+/quarter, without justification as to why. Also, they did not pick up for 2 weeks without notice or why they did not pick up, which previously they had been good about notifying if they were unable to pick up due to weather or a holiday. However, in these instances there was no holiday nor inclement weather to as why they did not pick up. When I called to report a missed pick up they apologized and said someone would be out within the week to pick up, and it did not happen.
When I cancelled the service before the next quarter, I was told that we would not be billed, as I had cancelled prior to the next quarter. I would however, be billed for a pick/disposal fee for the dumpster. However, I was indeed billed, in full, for the next quarter. After 5 phone calls to the company for a refund and two people telling me they would call me back, I was told I had to wait until I received a receipt before they would send me a refund and that they were unable to process a refund electronically, therefore I had to make another phone call into the company once I received the receipt to receive a refund. Each time I called, no matter what time of day, I was on hold and on the phone for a total of at least 45 minutes each time, being transferred from person to person.

I highly recommend for no one to use this company. They are not here for the customer, it’s all about how much they can charge you. Our pickup driver was amazing. Everyone else could careless. If you want to be surprised with an add’l bill over $100 to $160 this is your choice of business. Oh they will lower your month bill as long as you start a new contract. Totally dissatisfied.

I had been with Republic Services for 11 years and multiple times they missed my house, nothing in the way, all trash was covered properly and even tho they said it was their fault. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE BY COMING BACK making me wait 4 days to come get the trash. This time I had storm damage and need my trash can, I ask them to bring another one out they refused I had to leave bags of wet cloths in my garage alone with trash from those days. I explained all the problem and they could care less I’m in hospice care I could not go lifting bags, and now have to pay someone to come help the smell was terrible I will be reporting them and the were aware of the storms I will report them for leaving me with what could have turned to mold.
