I had been doing my hearing tested at a local place. They test it for free. You could see if you needed hearing aids. They sell hearing aids there. I've been going there for about three years, and I wasn't in the status of where I had needed hearing aids. The last time I went, I was at about a 30% loss. Before that, I was just at a 10%. So, within a year, my hearing started going down. I felt that I needed to do something, so I checked with my insurance to see what they pay. They wouldn't pay much. So, I just started looking the best I could and then I saw Audicus, which did not have a brick and mortar store. I could get hearing aids a lot cheaper through them. I did the test and then they had a follow-up, and somebody called me and gave me the results of it. From there, I decided that I wanted to purchase them. I put in an order and spoke to somebody else. Then they made them specialized for me and sent them out to me.
My hearing aids help me, especially, if there's a lot of noise around and I'm using them to listen to TV. So, it's improved the quality there. I like them. I got the ones that are small behind-the-ear type. They're slim. So, I like the quality and the size of them. I had an issue at first when I wasn't able to pair them with my phone. I have an Android phone, and the guy had said that they were having a few issues with Androids and the app on the phone. So, he helped me. We just uninstalled and reinstalled and did a few other things to get it going. Then he let me go for about two weeks, and then he called me back to follow up. After about three weeks, I did have a charger that I was having issue with. So, they sent me out another charger. Whatever they've done, they've always followed up with me via a phone call. Also, I can text them and do it through the app, too, if I have any issues.
I use the app. I used the website when I was doing my testing, and that was user-friendly. It's the same thing with the app that you use on the phone. I use it for volume control and changing the direction. My hearing aids were affordable. I had to pay all of it out of pocket. They did went through one of my credit cards care credit. So, I got six months to pay off interest free. That was helpful, too. I didn't have to come up with out of pocket, a high amount or use a credit card. Overall, I had a great experience.

Initially, I did everything online with Audicus. I bought a second pair after I went for a hearing test. I mailed that in so they could adjust it to the results that I got from my hearing test. I've only had the pair for two months now. But it's nice to have a second pair as a backup. The first pair that I got was the Clara. It was not that expensive. It was 1,800 bucks plus tax for a pair, which is pretty reasonable.
I've had a pair for nine years and they're still functional. I got to send them in to get repaired. The right ear stopped working the day before the new ones arrived. I just haven't gotten to mail them in. But every time I've had to mail one in to get it repaired or cleaned out, Audicus sent it back, and it has worked very well. It's been very reasonable to deal with mailing them down in New York and getting them done. It's not inconvenient because if I had to drive 30 miles down to Watertown, which is the closest location, near city, I would have to leave them and then drive back another time. But the turnaround time is not much different. So, I've been pleased with the service and that they've stood behind their product.
The first set I got had a charger. I tried to get batteries to fit it, but that didn't work. I ended up buying batteries after that. Overall, Audicus is a good value for the money. Go get your hearing tested first. When you do that, they have to give you the results in writing, and you can take that and mail it down, and they will program the pair that you order to your hearing test, which is better than doing it online. There are too many variables when you do it online than if you go to an audiologist and go, “Okay, I'm looking to get my hearing tested.” Audio and hearing is really a good value for the money.
Hi Curt! We're so happy to hear that you've had such a good experience that you got a second pair of Audicus hearing aids as a backup pair. Very smart idea to have a backup pair on hand & love hearing that your original pair has been functional for 9 years! 🙌 Feel free to mail it in as usual for repair and cleaning anytime. And totally agree with you that mailing your hearing aids to our NYC headquarters in is definitely an easier process than if you had to drive 30 miles down to a clinic in Watertown, drop them off and then have to drive down again to pick them. Thank you so much for sharing your experience as a long time Audicus customer!

Among The Wirecutter's honorable mentions, it seemed Audicus was the best option that allowed me to purchase just one hearing aid. I got a lot of reassurance, both on The Wirecutter and on the website with Audicus. They said, “It's a very hand-holding process. Once you've purchased it, they reach out to you to make sure it's set up appropriately.” There was a 100-day guarantee of you could return it within that period if you were unsatisfied. I was very satisfied with the website and the purchasing experience.
The hearing aids have improved my hearing. If I'm going to noisy environments and restaurants and hotel, out in public in noisy environments, trying to hold a conversation, those vacations, I make sure I'm wearing them and have the recording settings configured and maxed out. I notice a difference in terms of my ability to effectively hear and process what people are saying to me. Oftentimes, outside of that, it can be a very subtle effect. It's a gray area where it's hard to distinguish whether or not I'm reading into it. But I still appreciate having it.
It's solid quality. The actual build of the hearing aid itself feels well done. This is my first one that I've owned, only the second one I've ever worn. The software feels professional. I don't have any concerns of it being janky or defective. One of the settings for the hearing aid is specifically tailored to noisy environments. You can max out the volume but you can tinker with the settings to isolate just the voices especially the width of the pick-up. I still tinker with it a lot. I haven't found the perfect settings, but it's nice having some ability to exert some control there. There's an accessory they sell where you could buy a mic that would be worn by your conversation partner and would feed directly into your piece, which I would be very interested to get.
I wish I had more control over the configuration of the device. If you wanna make a major nontrivial adjustment to the default settings of the device, that requires an audiologist to remotely configure something to be downloaded to your device. So, you have to go through them if you wanna make a new default for your device. Outside of that, the actual interactions with the personnel have been great.
For most people who are exploring hearing aids, Audicus is a very solid option, especially if you only need one ear. That seems the best direct-to-consumer option in town. If you are someone who has substantial hearing loss, you'd probably explore the insurance route or government programs first. Don't do direct-to-consumer unless you're like me and you have to.
Hi Daniel, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. It is wonderful to hear that you found reassurance both through The Wirecutter and our website, we really do strive for "a very hand-holding process" because we know how overwhelming the whole journey can be! It sounds like you are doing a fantastic job utilizing the different programs available and tinkering with the settings to improve your hearing experience. As you are getting closer to finding your perfect settings, feel free to book an appointment anytime and we can help make any additional adjustments you need! ☺️

I was watching YouTube and caught a commercial for Audicus. I had several hearing tests over the years and was told I was losing my hearing, so I looked it up. The price was reasonable. It was better than getting the $200 ones from Walmart, and I couldn’t afford the $5,000 ones. I called Audicus, and the rep went the extra 10 miles for me. She’s a sweet gal. Everyone I talked to was wonderful. They were good about getting back to me, usually within 24 hours, and they would call to check on me and explain things. I had a good experience with them all the way around.
I couldn’t get used to the hearing aids. The bow of my glasses would hurt behind my ears, and if I used a comb, I would flip them off. So, it wasn’t a good fit for me. I thought maybe the others would be better. Besides, I’m 75 years old, and after I got my hair cut off, I didn’t want the hearing aid showing. Other than this, I am happy with the product. I can adjust them on my phone, which I understand I wouldn’t have with other hearing aids, and I was able to adjust them to where I could enjoy the sound without hearing a lot of things I didn’t want. It’s a very good price range for what you get, which are good-quality hearing aids. People should give them a shot.
I’m very pleased with all aspects of the product, the customer service, and the website. Everything involved was class A. I have an issue with CareCredit. I needed an extra $1,000 and applied, but after a week, I hadn’t heard anything back. When I called, I couldn’t get through to a person, so I wasn’t happy with that. But Audicus did everything they could to help me out and were wonderful.

I went to a local place and they wanted a very high amount of money for hearing aids. They were a bait and switch type of thing. They were running a special, but I wasn't in the parameters. I took my results with me, and I went to our Sam's Club, because they do a free hearing test, and I would compare it to see how honest it was. They were not available. I left a message. Because Audicus is associated with Sam’s, they called and asked me if I wanted to talk to them about it or did I want to wait and go to Sam’s and do it through them.
The person I talked to was so nice and they did the test over over the internet, and I compared it, so I knew it looked fine. They told me that Forbes recommended them, I read that, and they had a fair price, so I went with them. My experience was great. I worked with a lady, and she said she was there in Arizona. She was as accommodating as she could possibly be, very easy to deal with and was very knowledgeable. She got me an answer for any question I had.
The hearing aids take a long time to charge. Per the instructions, you're not supposed to leave them in the case plugged in for a long time. I'm not always ready with them. I could take a shower, get ready, and they're still not charged, so I leave them home again. I probably should time it a bit better, but we take at least a couple of hours to charge them. I'm not going to have them in when I'm working around the house. But if all of a sudden I decide to go do something, and I plug them in, they may not be ready when I am. Also, I'm constantly worried that the hearing aids will fall out of my ear. I don’t want to lose one. I have long hair, so it's hung up in my hair. They're a bit to get used to. They tickle or itch. Other than that, they're fine. They're good quality.
I can hear very well with the haering aids on. I put them on and everything's a bit louder, so I know they work fine. I always hear people say background noise drives them nuts with hearing aids, but mine are good. I probably should wear them more, but my hearing is not that bad. One time, Audicus adjusted them for me over the phone. I don't have problems with the background noise. I can go on my phone and adjust them, but I put them in and I feel they're okay.
Hi Sue, thank you so much for taking the time to share all about your experience so far. I'm so happy to hear we were able to help you get all set up virtually so you didn't have to wait and that you had the pleasure of chatting with Kelly! 😊 It's also great to know you haven't experienced background noise and you can hear very well with your Audicus hearing aids in. As for charging taking a long time, it sounds like you are doing a great job taking care of them and being cautious to not leave them in the charger for a long period of time. Many people will wear their hearing aids all day long and then pop them in to charge at night. Even if you don't wear the hearing aids all the time, maybe you can try out charging them at night every other night? Feel free to reach out to us anytime if you ever have questions or need any other adjustments made for you over the phone! ☺️

Sometimes I couldn’t tell whether the Audicus worked or not. When I had them in, I could hear a bit better, but other days, I couldn't. I don't know if they're helping or not.

When I was looking for hearing aids online, Audicus called me back. It was easier to order and try them, and I did. They were cheaper than what the doctor was trying to give me. I've been wearing my Audicus hearing aids for a little bit, and I like wearing them when I got them. They work good. I like the noise control feature as well. So far, so good. Their customer service is very attentive.

I would not recommend this company. They do not tell you the full story. First they ask you why do you "think you need hearing aids"? That is the CATCH. You may not need hearing aids and do not depend on "their test they give you on the computer." Audicus gives you a "test" over your computer, then tell you, you need hearing aids. They will not give you a written result if you request it, as I did. Then they send you the hearing aids, then they try to tweak, and then I was told the first test wasn't very accurate and do a second test. They will not send you results, when asked for them.
Then the hearing aids were programmed to pick up any background sounds and actually hurt my ears, which I complained to them about. Then they send you new hearing aids as the first ones wouldn't take a charge, the entire time the person you have been assigned to says (verbally) you will have more than 100 days since you have been having problems with the aids. ALL of a sudden after the 100 days that person won't call you back then you have a rude person that says tough luck, you can't return the product, it has been over 100 days. They then tell you they will talk to upper management. Leaves a message about how to return item and call me back. Call her back and she said upper management said you cannot return item.
BUYER BEWARE! The hearing test you receive from them is fake, I highly recommend you get a hearing test in a soundproof booth. I did that finally and my hearing is great and didn't even need hearing aids. These people twist and manipulate words, and will tell you anything, please don't believe them unless you have a true audiogram and the doctor recommends you need hearing aids. My hearing aids would constantly fall off, as my cartilage in my ears are weak and I verbalized that to them. I requested reports and they refused to give them to me. I understand you have a write to any "medical records" but they state the hearing test is not a medical test and a doctor is the only one that can do a hearing test. I asked them to provide me a receipt recently and they refused to, the only receipt I have is the confirmation email that they have shipped my order and my charge on the credit card.
Hi Betty, thank you for sharing your experience and we’re truly sorry for the disappointment you’ve felt throughout this process.
We understand how discouraging it would be to spend time trying to make hearing aids work while also navigating multiple concerns along the way like fit, sound comfort, charging issues, remote adjustments and replacement devices. Given the details involved, our team conducted a full review of your account in order to determine the appropriate next steps.
It sounds like Jake from our Customer Experience leadership team was able to chat with you on the phone today to apologize again and present a fair resolution. (Thank you for your appreciation and understanding this morning!)
Please let us know if you need any help with shipping the hearing aids and once again, we are truly sorry for the frustration you’ve experienced.

Back at the beginning of December, I experienced heavy hearing loss. I knew my hearing, just by age and just general circumstances, my hearing was going. But it was constantly ringing. I was like, “This is bad.” I had my appointment with an ENT. They did the hearing test. I have significant hearing loss in my left ear, not as bad in my right. That was when I knew I needed to get hearing aids. I was trying to look at my options. And Audicus contacted me. I liked what they had. So I went with Audicus.
The first time getting hearing aids, it was like, “Okay. We got a lot to learn here.” But they're very comfortable, and they're practically invisible. Regarding the quality, it took a good month or so before I'm like, “Now everything seems perfect.” And they've improved my life immensely. Using Bluetooth is my favorite because that's just so convenient.
Any issue that I've had, Audicus has been on top of it. Some of it was user error, and some of it was actual wires. They'd get right back with me at their earliest convenience. And the issue would be resolved fairly quickly. I’ve had a very positive experience. Audicus has been great. I've been very impressed. I would highly recommend them.
Hi Dan, thank you so much for sharing your experience! There definitely can be a lot to learn when you get hearing aids for the first time and it can take the brain a few weeks to re-adjust to hearing so many more sounds again with hearing aids. I am so happy to hear that your Audicus hearing aids are very comfortable and you've adjusted so well. Our team is always just a call, text, email or video call away if you ever need help figuring things out again! ☺️
