BUYER BEWARE!!! Just wanted to warn everyone to stay away from GEICO for homeowners' insurance! We have had GEICO for years for car insurance (and did not have any significant issues) and decided to go ahead and "bundle" it with homeowner insurance. The policy is thru Travelers Insurance underwritten by GEICO. We lost some shingles and had some roof decking damage in a storm LAST SUMMER. They took more than 6 weeks to even come out and inspect the roof (they no-showed on the first appointment, they sent someone who cannot inspect roofs to look at the roof damage on the 2nd appointment, finally had someone to only evaluate after more than 6 weeks after we filed the claim). They continue to give us the run around about covering this damage almost a year later!!! They have been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Highly recommend staying away from them, the discount is NOT worth the headache!!

We have been multi-policy holders with Travelers for over 5 years and recently had to put in our first claim ever. To say our claim experience has been a nightmare would be an understatement. Despite the mounting pile of evidence, certified wether data, and multiple licensed independent contractor reports we have provided in support of our claim- Travelers continues to deny us, yet cannot give us a concrete reason as to why. Instead, they use intentionally vague and ambiguous language to try and avoid responsibility, which is textbook predatory behavior. We have been mistreated and lied to for months by Travelers Insurance. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Travelers SUCKS big time! Drop them immediately! The majority of the ratings complains on this site, are the same problems that I had, and are still having with this insurance company. My house and the surrounding town, was struck with a devastating hail storm 7/3/25. The agent that was assigned to my claim in Pennsylvania, lived in Colorado! How does that work...It doesn't! He never answered any of my calls. After three months of nothing, out of nowhere, an agent shows up in my driveway, and tells me that the damage is not hail at all, it is from bird droppings! I am not joking. I called Bull S on the Bird S. He shows up again with an engineer to verify the bird S theory. The engineer states, looking at the agent with contempt, "This is all hail damage!".
While the engineer is inspecting, the agent is taking photographs of parts of the house where there is little to no damage, or items that have already been replaced. The agent then destroys the visiting inspecting engineer report, and creates a false report. I told this to Travelers, and they condone this behavior. When the agent paid what I thought would be a down payment for a contractor, it was not. It was the total settlement! He paid it through PayPal. The PayPal amount listed as my performance of a service for Travelers. No paperwork for documentation. It is considered earned income! I am a disabled veteran, I can't work.
Travelers paid out $11,821.54 to repair the roof and all the siding on a 4,000 sqft. house, a roof on a 36"x42"barn, and for three out buildings roofs, vents, and a door. To give you some reference, in 2017, my PU truck was hit by hail, and it cost over $9,000 in repairs. This is a house that is not even twenty years old, and brand new roofs on the out buildings. No one else in town has Travelers Insurance, and all their repairs were taken care of quickly and thoroughly. Many neighbors having extra settlement money left over. Their houses were over a 100 years old. TRAVELERS IS A SCAM!
When a corporation does not have procedures in place to address dismal customer service, and commits outright criminal fraud, it is doomed to failure. Help make this company reach this goal! Report it to your state and county district attorney offices, the BBB, state licensing departments and insurance fraud organizations. This is the other side of insurance fraud. STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

In February 2026, during a major snowstorm, my roof sustained damage caused by ice damming. This was not gradual wear and tear. The damage occurred as a direct result of that weather event. Since then, I’ve experienced active water intrusion into the home, and the interior damage clearly shows water entering from above the roof decking and spreading across multiple areas. This is not a single point failure or something consistent with an aging roof it is widespread and directional, indicating that water was forced underneath the shingles.
Travelers insurance company initially had me obtain repair estimates, but ultimately denied the claim. The adjuster returned for a second inspection with their own contractor, and after that visit, there was no communication for about a week. I had to follow up and request to speak with a supervisor. At that point, I was informed that the damage was due to nail pops and the claim was denied. The roof decking exhibits widespread moisture staining consistent with water intrusion originating from above the decking and migrating laterally across multiple rafter bays. The pattern and distribution of staining indicate non-gravity-driven water entry, which is consistent with ice dam conditions forcing water beneath the shingle system. This is not consistent with localized failure or age-related deterioration. This is how my home was left my living room unlivable since February 2026.

I would have given Travelers three stars, except for the egregious way they denied renewing my homeowners insurance WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME it had been denied. You see, I had a homeowners policy, three auto policies and a boat policy with Travelers for 5 years. They renewed every year without issue. I only had one claim - a homeowners claim - for damage caused by an ice storm in 2023 - which they did settle. Minimally. There was also damage done to the roof which they denied! (I probably should deduct three stars for that!) However, in the fall of 2025 they inexplicably "declined" to renew my homeowners insurance. Which is bad enough, but the most outrageous part about it was I was not notified! No email, nothing in the mail… I did not notice that my homeowners policy was INACTIVE until it was time to renew the auto policies 6 months later!
I wanted to drop one on a car we were selling and I went to their app and saw that the homeowners policy was inactive. I went into my notices and saw there was a notice but I was unable to open it in the app. I was referred back to their website and tried to download it, or open it, there. Got an error message and was referred back to the app! Which referred me to the website. Meaning I was in a dead loop and could not open the notice! Their website is so bare bones, it is uninformative and useless. You can't even access your auto proof of insurance there. Their app is almost as bad. I had to do some quick scrambling to obtain homeowners insurance elsewhere. Thank God nothing happened in the six months I was without insurance and had no idea!
When I called to canceled my other policies with Travelers, I asked the Customer Service person why the heck after 5 years they did not renew the homeowners insurance and didn't bother to tell me. She said it was because I had livestock!? I have 3 acres and have 9 chicken and a horse. They were aware of this! But somehow in that year's evaluation they decided it sounded like I was doing FARM WORK. Apparently that's a deal killer for them?! The whole thing was so outrageous and I was incredulous. Bottom line: I wouldn't not trust Travelers insurance company if I were you. Based on my experience.

I work with a lot of Insurance Companies and adjusters. Travelers has by far the worst customer service, most unknowledgeable staffing in their claims department, they refuse any communication with the paying customers and shortchanging homeowners on their claims. I stepped in to help a senior citizen that has no knowledge on roofing and gutters, what should have been a one visit by the Travelers adjuster, maybe a four-week process to completion, turn out to be a one year backwards and forth, at least 40 to 50 hours doing the adjusters job taking pictures, measurements, proving material spec's and manufacturer of matching product lines used. Homeowner felt disrespected from the start.

I had homeowners insurance through Travelers for many years. And last year, on January 24, 2025 I sold my house. My homeowner's insurance was already paid in December a month before I sold the house and it was paid up for a year out of my escrow. My insurance was never canceled. And this year, I have contacted Travelers to get the homeowner's insurance canceled and to receive a refund. I have been dealing with them since January 31, 2026 and it is now the middle of March. My refund has been approved, but no one will get off their butt and mail it to me. It has been one excuse after another every week when I call.
They currently owe me $1438.00 as far as I know, but possibly more. My check should have been mailed out immediately. Once the cancelation of the policy happened and once I sent them a bill of sale for the house, there should have been a check in the mail. It is now March 16, 2026 and as of today, there are still no refund. When I purchase my new home this year I will not be using Travelers and what a shame considering I was a loyal customer for many, many, years.

Review your policy carefully — especially square footage and replacement cost. I wish I had caught it sooner. They take no accountability and will rip you off.

Our house was struck by lightning on 9/13/25. It is now 1/28/26 - still waiting on our adjuster to approve 1 thing for re-construction. He ghosts us on a regular basis. Does not provide answers when he has promised to provide them. His supervisor gives the same responses. They are heartless robots. We have been displaced for 4.5 months with no end in sight. We used to have Metlife insurance - they were wonderful. Unfortunately, they sold off their homeowners insurance business. I'll be switching to anyone else besides Travelers as soon as we get this resolved... however long that may take.
