Worst thermostat but they are very smart to make money.

I’m in my third house with a Nest thermostat and it’s the third time I haven’t been able to pair my app with the thermostat. The device itself can connect with my Wi-Fi, but when I try to pair the app to the thermostat (both when it’s connected to the Wi-Fi and when it isn’t), during the pairing process the app will look for the Wi-Fi network and try to connect and it fails every time even though it’s the correct network and correct password. It is so frustrating. This is a common issue with the thermostat yet it has remained unresolved for years. There is nobody to talk to in order to troubleshoot. Just a useless AI bot that despite being a common issue doesn’t recognize the issue. The entire purpose of getting a Nest thermostat is so you can pair it with the app and control it from anywhere. Without being able to pair the app to the thermostat it’s just a stupid thermostat you have to control manually when you are in front of it. It is a waste of money.

Nest thermostat sucks. Can never connect via phone now, says router is outdated. Set temp today at 75, was a cool day and came in and air sets itself at 71, happened twice in 2 hours. Horrible system and no one to deal with about these issues. Will never purchase this garbage again.

Yesterday I had an event outside my window that I wanted to pull footage from. I checked within my 3 hour window that comes standard without a subscription and to my surprise the footage wasn't available yet older events were recorded. I immediately purchased a subscription to see if that would grant me access to any footage that may not have been displaying with the free service. I did not see any additional footage. I reached out to costumer service to learn why this happened. They were unable to see why this happened nor connect me with someone who could. No network connection loss, nothing. I am deeply dissatisfied with this level of service because it doesn't help me prevent the issue from happening again.

I loved the service and since I do heat and air I recommended Nest products to all my customers. But when I made the switch to Google app from nest app all changed. It’s always freezing up and very slow. So basically the best products is good but the app that control everything is so bad. I just don’t understand why won’t Google work on it.

The Nest thermostat was installed by the professional who installed my furnace. First year everything worked fine. I don't have AC, so only use this in winter. About 6 weeks into my second second season using Nest, it stopped working correctly. No matter what temperature I have set, it has a mind of its own. About half the time I get the temp that I set. Half the time my temperature gets stuck somewhere between 61 and 66. Very uncomfortable trying to shower in the morning. This has been a known issue for years with no solution. I spent over an hour on the phone with them trying ridiculous attempts to fix the issue. Just a frustrating waste of time. Check the Google forums. Lots of customers have been complaining about this exact same issue for at least 5 years. There doesn't seem to be any solution.

Cameras routinely fail to load video on Google Home app as they are no longer supported in Nest, furthermore fail for low battery even if hardwired to electrical outlet. Smoke detectors routinely alert randomly with no smoke or steam, they will also not link to Home app or wifi. Lastly the thermostat continuously changed the temperature in the house regardless of what WE the owners set. I literally had to lock the thermostat out from wifi converting it to a basic thermostat controller. Biggest regret was not reading reviews and spending thousands of dollars on equipment that became unsupported by Google within a very short period of time. Google doesn’t care about its customers and views everyone as dumb consumers ready to be taken advantage of. My advice, get rid of Gmail, use a different internet search engine and absolutely do not buy their products.

This system was awesome before Google bought it and screwed it all up. The app is terrible. Live stream is constantly down and my camera just randomly won't connect. I have a camera directly about my router and it still loses connection.

I’m very disappointed with Nest and their recent decision to drop support for their devices. I knew it was coming, but when it finally happened it left me with no Wi-Fi connection and no ability to access my thermostat remotely while away. It seems incredibly petty to shut this off when the thermostat was working perfectly, and remote access was essential — especially during the winter. I had important settings enabled, including safety warnings. Losing remote access without any reasonable alternative could have been catastrophic. Even though I have my home checked while I’m away, this still could have resulted in serious damage from a freezing home.
I owned three Nest thermostats. I’ve already replaced one with an Ecobee and will be replacing the remaining units as Google decides to end support. I’ve been a loyal client since 2003, and I also use Nest thermostats at my workplace. This is not one of Google’s better decisions. Choosing not to support old devices is one thing — but deliberately disabling remote access is deplorable. But I do have a new paperweight... A very unhappy long-term user, Randy **

I had two thermostats one for my garage and one for my house. Got an email saying I had to update the new thermostat. Looks like crap. It sticks way out from the wall and can't get it to work. My old thermostat if you had to ask me which one was more modern I would have picked the older one. I'm not sure why they couldn't make it compatible. Also not sure why they needed to have this huge backing plate for the new one. The old one had a nice square I can't use the new one because there's trim next to the thermostat and the new backing plate is so big you can't be close to anything.

I bought a Nest thermostat and it has worked great with my phone app and my Alexa app. So when they updated the software on my iPad and iPhone, nothing works. I was told that my nest thermostat is now not compatible with their existing software. So now to change the temperature I have to do it from the thermostat or buy another higher version.

The Nest keeps ignoring my settings and changing the temperature in my house. My wife is legitimately concerned about the safety of our newborn. Every employee at Google should be embarrassed by this product.

NEST is a total POS. I set the temp and google decides on a different temp higher or lower. They decide. So infuriating. Come home and the house is an ice box. For no reason Google lowered the temp to what I slept to 5 night ago randomly - 'cause it's "learning" then while I was sleeping last night I wake up and it decided because there was no movement to eco it up to 82. TOTAL Piece of SH!T.

Had the product for 3 years now, on front and rear doors. Last couple of days the rear door camera is black screened as if it's not connected (hardwired). Every year during the winter, front camera says battery low and no picture is available, but the camera is hardwired so how could it have a low battery and not work? Time now my they charge too much for the yearly script for such a problematic product. Buy a different product and do your research.

The Google Nest thermostat is absolutely awful! Constantly malfunctioning, no support number or email for help. It's 95 degrees in my house at midnight, cannot sleep but the thermostat says it's set to cool. Do not buy. Google should be sued for selling this piece of crap and making people freeze or sweat to death and spend a ton of money for it!

This review is specific to the Google Nest Outdoor Camera with Floodlights. I have 3 of the low Voltage Google Nest Outdoor Cameras which were painful to get set up and powered, but once working have been very reliable. The Google Nest Outdoor Camera with the 2 floodlights has been a different story. The concept is great - It's designed to be replace a 2 gang outdoor floodlight. The 1st one that was installed died after several months because the connector between the base and the camera was not designed to be hermetically sealed, so water got in it and fried the connector so it looked like a piece of burnt meat.
When I installed the replacement, I glopped GE 10 year Silicon all over the cable and connection to the base in order to hermetically seal it, and it used a QR code that came with the camera to connect it to the network (brilliant!) But the Floodlights draw lots of power and are powered exclusively from the battery so if they are activated or enabled in any way - the batteries won't charge or hold a charge. Within a week the Camera was dead and stayed that way until I finally figured out how to disable every single way the light could possibly turn on. Now it works, but constantly complains it is not getting enough light - even though it is the same camera as the other cameras which also operate in infrared mode.
Had the electrical engineer designed the floodlights to be powered from say a 12VDC off line converter with a diode on the +12Vdc and the battery power of +10Vdc as a backup , and the camera could switch off the ground to the light using a NFET if the battery voltage dropped below 7 volts, then the batteries could charge and stay charged and would only power the floodlights for a little while in an emergency especially if it PWM'ed the NFET at about 50%.
