What a huge disappointment. Lost several pieces of furniture and never found them! Broke heirloom wedding plates and gave me absolutely nothing for them. Cracked a lamp. Tore a couch I intended to donate, but became garbage in the end. Would never never recommend them.

My experience with this company was extremely disappointing. The movers packed my belongings, but then got stuck in my building’s active driveway. They unpacked all of my belongings from the truck, leaving them on the street and sidewalk for people and there pets to walk through. For 4.5 hours, no cars could get in or out of my HOA building, and I was subsequently charged for the inconvenience. In addition to this, some of my belongings were damaged. I had purchased additional insurance because I’ve had bad experiences in the past, but this situation was beyond frustrating. I also had a separate pile of furniture that I specifically requested to be left behind. Instead, the movers used my bed and entertainment center to try and get the truck unstuck—despite me having video evidence where I clearly told them that this furniture was not trash.
This situation has caused me financial strain, as I’ve had to replace major items due to the movers' negligence. I’ve been patient, providing the company with video and photo evidence, and even agreed to accept less than the total value of my damaged items to settle the matter. However, communication from the company dropped off completely. After numerous emails and calls, I finally received a response, but now, over a month later, the claims department is trying to justify the actions and extend the timeline to 6 months instead of the 30-day resolution I was initially promised. It’s unfortunate that FlatRate hasn’t taken the necessary steps to rectify the situation. I was hoping to leave a review commending them for handling this rightfully, but that has not been the case.

FlatRate Moving's price was excellent and my friend had highly recommended them. Setting up my move with them was very easy and they were really terrific to deal with. I just recommended them to somebody else and if I needed movers again, I would use them.

The final cost was on point with what FlatRate Moving provided. The crew was great. They put my belongings into the truck.

I went with FlatRate over other companies because it ended up being more affordable for the move itself. Their quote was both accurate and reasonable and the crew was quick and effective.

It was wonderful with FlatRate. When I got a quote that was cheaper from someone else, they lessened their quote. They helped me do a across a country move as well as a move within New York, and all went well. They were easy to communicate and the movers showed up on time. They're reliable.

FlatRate did a pretty good job. They had to move a wall unit from New York to Florida. First, they had to put it in storage in New York for a certain period of time and then from there, move it to Florida. They broke it down to a thousand pieces. They took a very large wall unit and then unscrewed every screw on it. They made it look like a LEGO set down to the pieces it was created. When they brought it down to Florida, they left it there. They didn't do that just for the wall unit. They did it with the bunk bed for my kids. They completely broke it down.
At the end of the day, you had a bunch of screws and pieces of wood. Like LEGO pieces, someone had to put it together and when it came to my kids' bunk bed, they refused to do it. When I called FlatRate to bring it home, they said, "Oh, we operate with a local company in Florida, and they don't do it." I told them, "Then why did you broke it down to a thousand pieces? Who's gonna put it back?" So I had to call outside help in order to do that. They repeated the exact same thing with a twice as large wall unit. They broke it down to its pieces and someone had to put it back. Now, I created an issue for them and I said, "Absolutely not. We're not going through the same exercise. You broke it down, you put it back up. I don't care." Their local partners here in Florida were very kind. This was not their fault.
The fault is with the company in New York, the people who dismantled it completely. First of all, a piece of the wall unit is broken at the top as part of the move. The other people who tried to put it together were not quite sure what to do. The first time they tried to put it together, they did it their own way and the cabinet doors wouldn't close. The top part of the unit was way back. It was a mess. I had to call them back and they said, "Ma'am, you understand, we're doing a big favor to you. This is not our job." So I said, "Who's gonna do it?" They fixed it.
Some of the cabinets still don't close properly. But they refuse to put it together. It's a wall unit that had lighting and by breaking it down to pieces, the cables of the lighting were exposed. They're supposed to be inside the columns of the wall unit, and they didn't put it back. Those are still hanging from my unit. They did not do a good job. I'm very, very upset. If you're not in a position to put something back together, don't break it apart. Or they could have told me, "If I have to break it apart, but if I do, I won't be able to put it together." They need to tell the customer in advance and the customer can decide. They cannot surprise us like that.
The smaller furniture like the expensive dining chairs from my dining set arrived intact and very nice. Absolutely nothing was broken with the smaller items. From my China and my artwork, everything arrived safe and in one piece. My TVs also had no problem. They were great. I was happy. But when it came to larger items that they had to break down, I'm still going through the nightmare. Both huge pieces were damaged. There are holes in both of those pieces. I have to call a local carpenter to see what they can do to hide the scratches.
