I started working up a plan to sell my 2003 VW Passat Wagon. Researching, I found that station wagons were not so much in demand theses days, as SUVs had fulfilled that market. So, I set up my acct. and My Garage at Cars.com and listed my Passat. It sold in two days! Granted, there are many factors why it was a great buy, but the hits I got on the listing were amazing. I had several inquiries wanting to buy that day. So, BIG fan. Hghly recommend!

Purchased a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sahara from Wellesley Mazda in MA. I really liked the look of the Jeep. This would be my first. Sales department was very friendly and accommodating. After a test ride, I discussed issues I had with the vehicle. I smelled antifreeze under the hood. I heard squealing noise coming from rear of vehicle. Salesman called me and said service had reviewed and inspected and did not find any issues. I took them at their word. Re-test drove the Vehicle and all seemed fine so I purchased the vehicle. I was purchasing this vehicle from out of state hour and 45 minutes away. First off did not realize I had to register the vehicle myself normally done by the dealer. Salesperson was kind, drove the vehicle to CT and ran it through emissions. He faxed me the paperwork so I didn’t have to make another trip to the dealer. Picked up the vehicle and was on my way home.
Within the next week I found puddles of water under the driver side as well as passenger side floor rugs. Pulled the Jeep into the garage and dried it out figuring may have been from previous snowstorm. Then I noticed antifreeze on the garage floor. Called the dealer. They said to bring it in and they would check and determine if it would be covered under warranty. Before I could make the hour and 45 minutes ride to the dealer I noticed another issue, rear passenger brake rotor and hub were extremely hot burning my finger to the touch. Called the service desk and left a message for the service manager. He had previously sent me an email introducing himself and said he was looking forward to working with me. I sent him an email with all the issues I had found. I received no response through email or phone call.
Sent an email to salesperson. He just sent me an email containing the limited 60 day warranty and said I would have to drive there to see what was covered. I told him the car was unsafe to drive with the rear brakes heating up which could cause a fire or melt the tire. I received no response through email or phone. So now I just bit the bullet. I am pretty handy and with YouTube’s help diagnosed and fixed the following issues. Radiator leak was from where the aluminum is crimped to the plastic. The radiator had to be replaced. I removed the rear brake assembly. Driver side brake pads were worn down to nothing. The caliper was stuck fully extended. I replaced the driver side caliper, both rear tire brake hoses and pads. When adjusting the passenger emergency break noticed the caliper on that side was also stuck so replaced the caliper on passenger side as well. Two issues solved.
Replaced both door seals driver and passenger and there seems to be no leaks. I have bought cars from private owners before and assumed I would have to spend money to fix anything that may be wrong with the vehicle but expected more from a dealership. First, I would never buy out of state again. Second, if from a dealer, only would buy certified pre-owned. I guess the only justification for a dealership to charge more money for a used vehicle than a private owner is they have more overhead. I believe they shouldn’t be able to sell a car with these issues. I have still not heard anything more from the dealer. The sixty day warranty is over. Just an all around bad experience.

I took my car to Grand Prairie Ford and initially received a written estimate for my trade-in that I felt was fair. However, when it came time to finalize the paperwork, they tried to reduce the trade-in value by $2,000 without any legitimate explanation. This kind of last-minute change felt really unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth. I’d advise others to double-check the final numbers carefully before signing anything if they choose to do business there.

This was the worst car buying experience I’ve ever had. The absolute worst. I’ve bought new cars before this car isn’t even brand new. It’s a 2021. I have had to jump through so many hoops and give so much information that I felt like I was buying a phantom. I had to call and verify everything all over again with the different banks even after submitting all this information to the dealership, I have never had to go through this and I’ve actually bought brand spanking new cars and never had to go through as much as I have with this company. I drove around in the car for three weeks almost a month one bank drop me because even after all the information I provided they didn’t think my second job was real and then the next bank I still had to buy all this information about the car and about my insurance. I went from having to put nothing down to $1000 down and my car payment went up $200 a month. Absolutely horrible.

They close you on a price and lock you in on a price you agree on then you sign your contract. You think everything is set .... but without you noticing they raise it after 3 months higher and higher each month. If you are a bigger company your office manager may just pay the increase without ever saying anything and that's exactly how Cars.com gets you!!! They say that you received a email about the the increase, putting you in a premium spot and by NOT replying to the email will automatic sign you in .... CRAZY.

I place my car for sale. Within an hour or so, I get a message from person "A". I response to person "A". I forward my phone number to person "A" and we speak specifics about the car. Person "A" says he is interested and would like to make arrangements to pickup car on a certain day. Gives a story which I didn't believe, so I gave him a day. He was going to forward me his info. I responded how will payment be handled. All of a sudden, his account is inactive. Person "A" had a different name as we was texting and not the same name on the message on the website. I traced his number and it's in the state of Illinois which is where Cars.com is located. Person "A" used three (3) names. Be careful with this site!! The company itself is either checking up on you OR trying to scam you!!! Buyer and Seller, BEWARE!!

This service is absolute trash for a number of reasons. 1. The system glitches consistently when attempting to add vehicles to your garage or listing a vehicle. This means you may need to re-do it several times. 2: The system will occasionally glitch a vehicle in your garage into a "Submitted" status that absolutely cannot be altered. This means the vehicle cannot be removed, edited, or anything and the listing can go live. Then if you've sold the vehicle, it'll remain up for EVER. I mean that in literal tense, forever.
3: This forces you to contact customer support. Oh, guess what? There is no customer support. They've built a chat agent that ACTS as if there was customer support, but no matter what selections are made - even if you select that you're a paid dealer account - the ending result is ALWAYS "There is no agent available, please try again later" - always. Then you can send an email; which they've hidden, and that'll never be responded to either. 4: You won't get ANY leads. AVOID THIS WEBSITE AND ITS GARBAGE INTERFACE AND MISLEADING TACTICS AT ALL COST.

On June 10, 2025, found a vehicle I wanted to purchase on Cars.com Inc. d/b/a Cars Commerce for $36,750-price reduction on 6/5/25. Using the Cars.com link to check availability, I contacted the dealership, Simi Valley Chrysler Jeep, and promptly received a reply that the vehicle was "Indeed it is". I telephoned the dealership to set up a time to view the vehicle and was in then informed that it was not the same vehicle, although both vehicles on both websites listed the exact same VIN number and stated the price is $42,760. I believe Cars.com is working a "bait-and-switch" move in conjunction with Simi Valley Chrysler Jeep. This is totally illegal!

A little over a week ago my wife and I visited a dealer which had a car listed through Cars.com. After looking the vehicle over I asked for the Carfax which the dealer provided. A quick look through the Carfax showed that the odometer had been rolled back 100,000 miles! I showed the dealer who reacted as if it were a surprise and I thought maybe that was true since it would be stupid to show me the Carfax if he knew. I waited three days for the Cars.com listing to be updated. When nothing happened I notified Cars.com.
They suggested I write a review of the dealership which I did. In the review, I mentioned that Cars.com had not taken any action to take down the listing or blacklist the dealer. Cars.com would not allow the review to be posted!!!! They still have taken no action and the listing is still on Cars.com INCLUDING the incorrect mileage. (There are listings on some sites that indicate the mileage is not correct. I don't really like that but I can understand somewhat. The Cars.com listing says nothing about the mileage being wrong.) I am disgusted by the way Cars.com has handled this and shocked they've not even attempted to offer an explanation. My recommendation-- don't deal with them!!!!!

I purchased a car that was listed on Cars.com that listed the car equipped with a remote start. The salesman at the dealership also confirmed it came with a remote start. Later I found out they FAILED to mention it only works with an app that will be costly each year in order to use the app. The manager at the dealership (McGrath Acura) said Cars.com listed it incorrectly. I am terribly disappointed in the lack of transparency and inconvenience. Buyer beware. Make sure you’re actually getting what you’re made to believe you are buying!
