What should have been an exciting move into my new built home turned into a very costly and stressful experience. The movers connected my washing machine but failed to connect the drain line, causing water damage from the second floor into the first floor of my home. The dryer vent was also left disconnected as well. Initially, the company appeared to accept responsibility by sending out a restoration crew to clean up the water damage immediately after the incident. However, after weeks of delays and "claim reviews," their attorney and insurance company ultimately denied the claim entirely based on the liability paperwork signed before the move. It is incredibly frustrating to deal with a company that responds one way in the moment, only to later refuse accountability for damage caused during the move.
Accidents can happen. What matters is how a company handles them afterward. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling unsupported, misled, and stuck dealing with the consequences in my new home. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to carefully review all paperwork and fully understand what protections you actually have if something goes wrong. This wasn't like a dent in the wall...this was costly water damage to two levels of my home.

If you value your time, do not use this company. I had to take off from work to ensure I was at my house during the timeframe they gave me. For the estimate I was told they would be at my house between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. I received a call 12:58 saying they were running late and that he could do the estimate over the phone. So, I took off 2 hours for nothing. He gave me the quote, which seemed high, but I do understand that moving an 800 lb safe takes a lot of labor, so I agreed to the $366, but they were at my house for 15 minutes. I was quoted 4 guys at $60 an hour and a $90 transportation fee plus tax.
The job was to be competed between 10:00 am and noon. I received a call at 11:40 saying they were running late, but they would be there by 12:30. They were still not there by 1:30 so I called customer service asking for a discount since I have had to take more time off of work and I had not heard back from them since 11:40. The person on the call said she would have a manger call me... never happened. The guys arrived at 1:54 PM without explanation of being late. The guys moved the safe and were in and out. When I was asked by the one guy who took my payment 'what time did we get here?' I said, "It was just before 2:00," and he said, "I am going to put that we were here at 1:00." I said, "You were here close to 2:00," but I was not going to argue with him, I would call customer service.
When I called customer service I let them know what happened and that I expected a refund of some of the money I paid since my time is also valuable. She said she would get the message to a manager who should call me. He never did. I am disappointed with the lack of communication and the lack of consideration for my time. $366.00 for 15 minutes and I had to take 6 hours off from work. Like I said, if your time is valuable, don't use this company. I tried to upload my receipt and it kept telling me there was an error. Kelley ** Albuquerque, NM

Do yourself a favor and don’t use them. First, they used four loaders to pack, but only 2 to unpack which was too much work for the men look exhausted. My bed was not put together or my dresser brought upstairs to the bedroom saying it wouldn’t fit up the stairs. Once the drawers were removed after they left, it did go up the stairs fine. The wall was also damaged from the furniture move. When I unpacked boxes later, I had special dishes broken as well as old Christmas ornaments shattered. I am sure the boxes were packed too tightly into the truck to begin with. I would never use this company or recommend them ever. For the cost of $12,000 to move from New Hampshire to North Carolina was very expensive and I had put my trust into transporting my possessions safely. They did not meet my expectations as reliable good movers.

I booked a moving service with College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving and paid a refundable deposit. I was informed that I would receive my deposit back if I cancelled within a certain timeframe. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my reservation on the same day, but over two weeks later, I still have not received my refund, despite multiple emails and even direct communication with the general manager. This lack of response is not only unprofessional but also misleading. I would caution others to be aware of this company's poor follow-through when it comes to refunds.

I still can't believe what this company did for my family. We were in a really bad spot personally and had to cancel our move last minute. Ricardo, the manager, actually reached out to see if we were okay and then offered to handle the whole move for free. Yes, free. I’ve never experienced anything like that from a business. They really stepped up when we needed help the most. The crew was super nice and careful with everything too, but honestly, the way they treat people is what matters. Can't thank Ricardo and his team enough.

I had a very disappointing experience with College Hunks and would not use them again. This was a move from a two-bedroom, one-office townhome to another home just 1.5 miles away, with many items already packed. Even so, Day Two lasted from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., which is excessive for a move of this size and distance.
The most concerning issue was undisclosed property damage. Basement stair railings were broken during the move and never mentioned. I discovered the damage myself, and the broken pieces had been hidden behind a water heater. A dresser drawer knob was also broken and not disclosed. Several items were mishandled — sofa legs were removed and never reattached, cushions were left piled in the basement, and a treadmill was disassembled without my consent, with an extra part later found hidden.
Packing quality was extremely poor. I found broken dishes, and many boxes appeared to be dumped directly from drawers with little to no packing, resulting in boxes that looked like piles of junk when opened. This raises serious questions about why the move took so long given the lack of care taken. I was ultimately charged about three times what I was quoted. Management offered a small settlement, which I declined because it would not have covered the documented damage, let alone the misuse of time and materials. After that, communication stopped until I disputed part of the charges through my credit card. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this company.

I hired College Hunks to move a couch and a single chair for donation. Two items. No stairs. No packing. No special handling. What should have been a quick, straightforward job turned into a jaw-dropping bill of $514. That number still feels unbelievable to type. There was zero meaningful transparency about how this cost was justified. The pricing felt intentionally vague, the explanation rushed, and the attitude was basically take it or leave it after the job was already done. At no point did anyone stop and say, this is getting absurd, or does this seem reasonable for the work performed. It felt predatory, not professional.
The service itself did nothing to justify the price. This was not white-glove, premium, or anything close to it. It was a basic pickup executed with minimal care and zero consideration for the customer experience. I was left feeling completely taken advantage of for choosing a well-known brand instead of a local mover or charity pickup. I strongly urge anyone considering College Hunks to look elsewhere. There are countless alternatives that charge a fraction of this cost and treat customers with basic honesty and respect. I regret using this service, and I would actively warn friends, family, and anyone reading this review to avoid it.

Columbia Heights Yard waste removal for final 2 times of the year. Other homes had severe medical issues so I did the yards. Many bags and my huge bin were frozen in 2 inches of ice and 4 inches of snow. I cleaned bags off and broke bin free. As always the 4 men fully clean bin 5 times to make sure all was out end of year and were able to remove huge bags with some snow without ripping open bags so leafs went in actual truck. 10 heavy load weeks for 3 homes all done perfectly. Thank You. Exemplary employees as it was very very cold also. Matt 55421

I called them to have my aquarium removed. They promptly showed up and gave a fair quote. We set up the next day for removal and they were a NO SHOW and NO CALL! I can understand it may have been too much for them but for setting up a set time with a contract number and then just bailing is low brow stuff. I can not give a zero.

We hired College Hunks for our move mid-July. During the move a wall was damaged and afterwards we noticed an expensive electronic device missing. We followed the local franchise's protocol in submitting the claims, with proof & pictures. To date, the issues have not been resolved, even though in their email it states claims will be resolved within 30 days. The administrative director gave us excuse after excuse. We have never received any updates, phone calls, etc. from them, even though every time we called them, they promised we would hear "today, latest tomorrow." At this point she refuses to talk to us.
As many other reviews have stated, the move runs longer, resulting in extra charges, or the truck is not the appropriate size, and when there are claims, the office personnel will ghost you. There is only a national call line, which says that the local franchise offices are individually owned, therefore all issues need to be handled through that specific office, which is a catch 22, because if they refuse resolution, your only recourse is to take legal actions. Our recommendation is to stay away from this company.
