Not well stated how large the truck was before it arrived, meaning I had to figure out alternative parking quickly. Numbers on the inside of the truck were so rubbed off that I had to guess the length and was upcharged for the extra space I accidentally took. The barricades were so old and rusted that we could barely get them locked together, and they moved during transfer, causing my things to shift.
Nothing broke to my knowledge but it made unloading a hassle for my movers. Took over a week to arrive at my new apartment and ended up in a hold/transfer loop with customer service, trying to schedule more than once during the whole process. Once I got scheduled, they arrived 2 hours earlier than my delivery window, and I had to rush to be ready to meet the driver. The drivers were all very nice throughout the process and called ahead of time. Once I got to the right person to talk to, he was very kind and helpful. No lock provided made me nervous, especially leaving the truck overnight. A numerical lock that the driver and consumer get the code to would make it feel more secure.

We have used UPack twice, going from Washington to South Carolina, then from SC back to the west again. I would highly recommend anyone use them to move. The folks at UPack and ABF trucking are nothing but fantastic and amazing to make your move smooth. Yes, you have to pack the trailer however, for us, whether we had friends or hired muscles, to do this was easy. For us, the cost was very important, and when comparing moving companies, PODs, using U-Haul, this was far above any of them, with the least costly move. With this, getting our house moved safely and all the representatives for both companies that helped as situations arose with our experiences, I would recommend UPack/ABF for all or any of your moves, especially across the country, and no one else.
Thank you for trusting us with another move and sharing your experience, Craig! We're glad we were a great fit for your needs and priced right, and we wish you all the best as you settle into your new home.

I just moved from Missouri back to Hawaii and Upack was the best price I could find. It was still expensive, but it’s a long distance. The pod was super small, but somehow I fit ALL my belongings inside with the help of a friend who’s a Tetris wizard. It arrived right on time, and not a single item was broken or damaged. I had a few big mirrors, tall glass vases, and lots of glassware. NOTHING was broken!! They dropped it off in my driveway (other companies, I would have had to pick up from the harbor on the other side of the island.) Super happy with the whole experience and would definitely recommend.
Thank you for trusting us with your move back to Hawaii! We're glad everything went smoothly and appreciate you sharing your experience. We wish you all the best as you settle into your new home!

We used UPack to move from FL to ME - upon delivery in ME we found many items damaged. Everything was packed well and wrapped in UHaul blankets and strapped in with ratchets. Our whole antique bedroom set (Dresser, headboard and End Table) were damaged beyond use.... chunks of wood broken off, scratched so badly it is now junk and cannot ever be restored correctly. They also damaged an expensive wooden TV stand that was also wrapped very tightly. My daughter's expensive brand new $30,000 motorized wheelchair got ripped along with 2 other chairs. Scratches and dents in most everything.
We moved this exact same stuff to FL last year with no damage done to anything. The cubes were mishandled badly and slammed around quite a bit too cause as much damage as they did. We even witnessed it when the driver dropped them off. After he set one cube down he got the other one and hit the first one with it.... his EXACT words were "Oh well! Until they make these see through this is gonna keep happening. I took pictures of fresh punctures in the cube that were not there when we packed them. I submitted a claim but don't expect much as they will blame you for not packing it right.
We lost basically every piece of furniture we had to damage - I will NEVER use this company again nor so I recommend them to anyone. If you do - take videos, pictures of everything and even then they cover their butt in the contract and only pay .10 a lb for damaged items IF you can prove they did it.... so therefore you get next to nothing for losing all your belongings. Pretty sad to pay over $5000 to lose everything and have to replace it due to negligence that will never be recognized by the company.
We're sorry to learn about the damages, Donna. This isn't what we want or expect for our customers during their moves, and we value the opportunity to address your concerns. Would you mind sharing additional information, along with your reference number, with us at customercare@upack.com so we can follow up with you on this?

I had to move 5 bedroom house from Seattle to New York. I received full service quotes for more than 20k from reputable organizations. The online ads is mostly shady/scam brokers. They give you a really low quote based on their assessment of how much you need. But the catch is that they will charge you based on actual volume and not the quoted price. And after they come they will first load your stuff and then tell you the final number. If you refuse to pay at that point they will ransom your stuff or charge you thousands of dollars to unload it all. Basically it is all a big scam.
For example the rep from Vanlines said I only need 600 cu. Ft. and quoted 6k for that. Which I knew was part of the scam. I booked U-Pack and booked the entire 28ft trailer. It was roughly 2000 cu. ft. I filled it all up and still had to throw away some stuff (imagine the rep from vanlines was trying to convince me that I only need 600 cu ft). UPack quoted 7k and they promised they’ll deliver in 11 days in NY and they did. It was a great experience. Highly recommend. Better than driving yourself.

I hired U-Pack to move from NM to WA. The week before my trailer was dropped off they inform me the date I booked on their website wasn’t available and never was actually available. I had to change everything that I scheduled (movers, packers, move out date). They swore they would show up at 5pm to pick up the trailer. They showed up a 1pm, saying they take it then or I have to wait another 5 days. For my legal minds, this situation is called fraudulent inducement of contract. U-Pack also altered my weight tickets that I paid $150 for. I had to contact CAT to get the original tickets to prove to U-Pack that the tickets had been altered by their team. Took this issue to BBB, which was an absolute waste of time. Working with the Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General at the moment.

A month ago, I used U-Pack to move from New Jersey to Florida because their price is a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than other moving companies. We got the items shipped after about 10 days. The bulkhead used to separate my items and commercial shipment was shaking and the top lock bar of it was not in the right slot when the truck arrived in Florida. Additionally, there are many items broken including 3 fine wine glasses, 2 champion glasses, and a Clay tea set (wedding gift from Chinese trip) even though I wrapped them thoroughly and packed them in boxes. I filed a damage claim, but the company denied it saying the shipment was never transferred by their personnel nor involved in any accidents. They blamed us for not packaging the items properly. However, I have a video showing the bulkhead was nicely locked from Jersey but pretty messed up in Florida. It clearly shows something happened during the shipment. Anyways, I don't recommend the moving company.

So I want to start off by saying I read every single review in here before deciding to go with U-Pack. It was so cheap compared to Pods, and easier to manage compared to Uhaul's shipping containers, but I was very nervous. I personally had a great experience. I got one of the containers, not part of a trailer, and was having it shipped from Florida to Iowa. They dropped it off to my mom, and she had it packed up and ready to go. I scheduled pickup for Monday on Friday morning- they ended up coming Tuesday (but not a huge deal considering no one needs to be there for pickup). It arrived in Iowa on Sunday and I chose drop off today between 8-12, and he came at 8:30. It overall went super well! The customer service was very nice and the truck drivers communicated with me whenever they were headed my way.
Thank you for trusting us with your move to Iowa, Peyton! We're glad we were a great fit for your needs, and we hope you enjoy your new home. Thank you, Brooke D.

Nothing but good things to say about U-Pack and ABF Freight. Our son and his roommate moved their freshman dorm stuff from Texas to Chestnut Hill, Mass. The container arrived on their scheduled Move-In Day and everything was in good/working condition. Big shout out to Aubrey ** on the Houston U-Pack side and to Jimmy ** on the ABF side. Both went above and beyond to help our son and his roommate's move go smoothly.

This is the email I sent to U-Pack/ABF over 3 weeks ago and have not had any response. I'm including U-pack and ABF in this reply as I am overall extremely dissatisfied in my choice to use this service for my out of state moving. I'm very unhappy with how this situation was handled. I was a warehouse supervisor for 10 years and have loaded and unloaded countless trucks for long haul, cross country transport. I have been in the freight and transportation industry for over 20 years. I am fully aware of how to load, unload, stack, pack etc and the condition of freight after long hauls in commercial vehicles. I loaded exactly as the specifications on the website stated.
Load the largest and heaviest furniture, appliances and boxes first. Place them against the walls to help evenly distribute the weight throughout the truck/trailer/container. Stack items from floor to ceiling, putting heavy items on the bottom and lighter ones on the top. Load tight, like a jigsaw puzzle — fill all space to avoid shifting in transit. Use things like pillows, rugs and bags of linens to fill any open space. Each tier should be close to the trailer/ReloCube ceiling before beginning the next tier. Tie each one off with ratchet straps/rope to secure. Place fragile items or awkwardly shaped items on last and secure tightly (make sure to mark them “fragile”).
Place lightweight, loose items like small rolled up rugs, bundled mops and brooms on top. All of my belongings were packed in plastic totes of the same size and shape. Everything else was furniture or odd shaped/sized that had to be loaded separately. These were packed light on top and heavy on bottom. I had multiple blankets, dog beds etc packed in between. My loading job could not have been more even, level and secure. I used somewhere between 10-15 ratchet straps throughout the load. I am very offended that I am being blamed for the damage and expected to believe that this was all perfectly normal transport. Again, I have unloaded hundreds of trailers and I'm VERY aware of what damage from poor loading looks like. More often than not, entire loads are not damaged on arrival.
Parts of trailers that were loaded securely and level will not have sustained damage while other parts are damaged due to how they were stacked. My entire container showed proof of extreme vibration and shaking. This is not normal. I Am aware from your letter that investigation showed no accidents or abnormal conditions, that may be true, however, that does not show that the equipment itself was not in need of some sort of servicing like suspension, balancing etc. I had a metal bathroom wall rack in my container.
Although it sustained no damage, it was securely put together and has roughly 20 bolts holding all the bars together. Upon arriving here it was completely disassembled and every bolt had completely unscrewed itself and come out of the bars. That is not normal conditions, that is extreme vibration and constant movement.
The purpose of this email is for one, to let U-pack know how my situation is being handled. I can not in good conscience promote or encourage others to use this service. I was very excited to use a service like this and not have to drive a moving truck across 3 states. After this experience I wish I had. It was not cheaper than renting a truck, possibly more expensive and then to have so much damage to my belongings is very disappointing. Secondly, people considering using your service should be aware of just what extremes they need to go through to not have their property damaged. I have more experience with freight than most people I know, so the majority of your customers are going to experience the loss I have and if that's not the case then there were definitely excessive circumstances with my move.
I was very fair in the damages I listed for review, I did not nitpick and only listed the major things that were damaged which did not amount to a great deal (the pergola I listed was brand new and sustained lots of cosmetic wear, the price I listed was the value of when I purchased it but I was not expecting full compensation). I am very offended that not only can you not find some way to fairly accommodate me but you tell me it's my fault and pass blame to me. That's no way to provide good customer service and so again, I cannot give recommendations to anyone or provide good reviews.
