I tried to open a high-yield savings account, but I couldn’t get a clear answer about what documents were required. After multiple phone calls, I finally uploaded the requested documents. Even then, they took their time processing the application and were unable to tell me when the account would actually be opened. If they can’t efficiently handle something as simple as opening an account, how can you trust them with your money? After repeated delays and lack of communication, I called and canceled my application. Don’t let yourself get lost in their maze.

Applied for an HYSA. The application did not ask anything regarding my job or annual income. The only information I believed that they could use to assess the application was SSN and tax payer information. With a 800+ credit score, having a doctoral degree and making a 6 digit income, my application was "rejected". Called their customer care to know what information do they use to assess an application. Got even more weird response that they can be any reasons from where I apply and what identity information they get from SSN. So, I assume that anyone who is not a citizen and applied from a city like St Louis will have a rejection like I had. Seems like they are so competitive that there are no other banks available for people to do HYSA!

Don’t believe anything that they say! When looking to move my funds, they offered me a rate bump of .25%, which I accepted. Several months later, I checked and no rate bump and although they could see that I was offered and accepted the rate bump, they said, "Sorry, tough luck!" What crooks! Move my money out immediately!

On 12/1/25 I paid over $36,000 for a new car using CIT Bill Pay. This form of payment was unacceptable to to the car dealer, who required a wire transfer instead. CIT canceled the bill pay on 12/12/25 with the assurance that my money would be returned to my checking account not later than 12/16/25. When the funds were not returned to my account I called CIT and was assured that the funds would be there by 12/17/25. This didn't happen and then they assured me that the funds would be available on 12/18/25. Today is 12/19/25 and the funds still haven't been returned to my account. I am extremely disappointed with CIT Bank.

I just spent time trying to open an account online and at the end it says unable to open an account. Total disgusting treatment. I have top credit and top history. I will never use them again and advise others to steer clear!

Opening the account was cumbersome at first but eventually worked itself out after about 3 weeks. They cut their high yield savings rate when The Fed cut the Prime rate. So now they're not paying any more than any other bank I can deal with. Then I tried to mobile deposit a check only to have it rejected because they didn't like my sister's signature.
Once I got that straightened out which took about a week and a half, they eliminated their Android phone app which is the only way I can Mobile deposit a check. So now the check says Mobile deposit on the back and they won't take it by mail because of that and I can't mobile deposit because their app is gone and there's no way to make a deposit via the website or an ATM. So I have a totally worthless check for $7,000 in my hand and they've got $200,000 of my money that they're going to give me back when I close the account because their "customer service" is non existent. Prrrrreetty sure I'm going to get The Federal Reserve involved with their asses over this, too. Save yourself the grief. Take your money somewhere it will be respected and appreciated. F This "Bank".

I originally opened a HYSA with CIT Bank and had no issues. But once I switched my checking account over, everything went downhill. Getting access to your own money is frustratingly difficult with this bank. Their ATM withdrawal limits are unreasonably low. Zelle transfer limits are also very low. Need a check? Forget it—they don’t even offer that option. Have a check over $10K to deposit? You’ll need to mail it in. To make matters worse, even their staff seem poorly trained. A supervisor confidently told me there were no wire transfer fees. I asked her to repeat it twice before I pointed out that, in fact, CIT charges $10 for every wire transfer. That says a lot about the training and accuracy of information at this bank. If you value convenience, flexibility, and accurate service, you’re better off with a big bank or a local credit union. My advice: do not trust CIT Bank with your money.

No trouble opening an account a week ago for my Wife. Have never been able to access the account (not even once) since then. Finally got someone on the phone today only to hear they are working on a technical issue and cannot give a date when it will be resolved. How they stay in business is beyond me. They admit to having the $10K transfer. If I ever get access. This account will be Closed. FCC is my next stop.

When I initially opened a savings account in early 2024 and opted in for paperless statements, I received a monthly email notifying me when statements were available. This lasted about three months. Starting in July 2024, the email notices stopped. I contacted them several times requesting the problem be resolved. Each time I received identical canned responses..."Sorry for the inconvenience, this is how you can download a statement (like I'm an idiot and couldn't figure that out for myself), and we are working hard to fix it." By March 2025, 9 months without an email notice, I'm done. Never got the sense they cared at all. Only reason for the second star is competitive rates, but their customer service negates that benefit.

I had a terrible experience while speaking with CIT customer care over the phone regarding the new account opening process. When I attempted to open an account, I received a message stating that my request could not be completed, but no reason was provided. I contacted customer care for clarification, but they had very limited information and could only offer general explanations for why my application couldn't be processed. They also mentioned that there were no notes indicating the specific issue with my application. When I asked for an email address to contact another support team, they didn’t have one to provide. Overall, a very frustrating experience.
