I have been with Ambit for around 10 years- I cancelled today (from what I'm hearing, it will take 2 months to process). In just 7 months the rate went from 8 cents to 15 cents per KwH - my current provider is at 8.5 cents- it took me a few months to realize because I am on APP (budget over 12-month avg). This is nearly double and will cost about an addition 1k over what it would have been if I didn't have Ambit. I did fail to renew my contract so that the excuse to double my rate from their end. Advice: watch very closely or just GET OUT ASAP.

First issue was when an apartment complex told me I got in and needed to get utilities before I moved in and last min told me I didn’t get it. I called to cancel and give my new address. Ambit let me have two apartments in my name and tried to charge me after it was on record I canceled. Me being new to TX and not knowing other companies, I went with Ambit again! And the first yr was fine but I recertified for another yr. and they locked me into a 5 yr contract I knew NOTHING about and my bill went from $40-$70 to $350! I asked to cancel and they said $300+! Now I’ve complained. My bill went from $352 to $80 for March. My rental company doesn’t even promote this company because they keep getting fees back that it’s a scam company!

Very bad experience, I call and ask because they charge high and they don't give me a good answer, I don't live in a big house, it's a mobile home, they wouldn't have to be high prices in electricity consumption.

I moved out of my apartment complex and notified Ambit back in June of 2022 and I was still being charged for energy till December of 2022; nobody would help me or even hardly talk to me and instead sent it to a bill collector for energy I did not use. TERRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT GET THEM.

So I moved into a an apartment December the 9th so from December the 9th until not even January the 9th technically for 19 days this company charged me $391 for 19 days then when I called them to try to speak to them about it they act like I did something wrong because I'm questioning them about my 391 bill for 19 days. 19 days.

I just can't get past that 3 $91 for 19 days so then when I ask them about grace period the guy goes on to say, "Oh your bill is due on the 19th." I said, "So how many days after that do y'all try to set up a termination letter?" He said the same day or the day after so if I get paid on the 22nd or the 23rd you're telling me that I could possibly have a termination notice three days later. What kind of crap is that? This is the worst company I ever heard of. It almost make me want to deal with TXU which I rather deal with TXU and know what I'm getting versus trying a new company all on the word of a friend. By the way me and her no longer friends because of this company

I just noticed that Ambit Energy has been charging way more than Nicor rates. I called Ambit to cancel and was told it would take 1-2 billing cycles. So I am stuck with high rates when it matters the most. This months charge was 2.17 compared to Nicor at .85. When I called Ambit their solution was to try and lock me into a contract. Really!? How it this even legal?

Long time Ambit customer from Illinois. My gas bill just keeps rising and rising to outrageous amounts. Currently 2.17 per Therm, Nicor is only 0.85 per Therm. I called customer service to discuss the price difference. Was told too bad. I cancelled my service and was informed it will take an additional 1-2 billing cycles before cancellation will be complete. So in the winter, when I am using the most gas...They will continue to charge me for their service until they feel like cancelling my account. The customer service rep was not helpful and did nothing other than keep telling me cancellation will take another 1-2 months. This is outrageous! Uncaring company that takes advantage of people!

I have been a customer for 2 years and recently was out of work to have my baby and was having to play catch up to pay bills. Well this company decided to tell me to pay $47 to keep it on and I could pay the remaking at a later date. The next day my power was off and they told me they would not turn it on unless I paid in full! Mind you I have 3 children and an infant in that home who will not be getting a Christmas now because the $300 I had left went to them!!! What a terrible thing to do to a loyal customer during the holidays!!!

Called Nicor today to find out why my bill was so high. They explained have Ambit Energy as my gas supplier which I did not relish because I cancelled them via letter notification and thought I was done with them. I got my gas bill. Found out I was being charged almost 2 dollars per therm. Nicor is charging 85 cents per therm. Called ambit and informed them they need to cancel service that should have already been cancelled. We were informed the change will take 1-2 billing Cycles to take effect so essential they are allowed to rip us off for two more months and there is nothing we can do about it.

The worst possible company in the whole world! In 13 years I moved around the world I didn't have as many issues as with this company, they don't resolve any problems you have with their service either. There is no date to schedule the payment, they change it every month and refuse to make fixed Date as a company policy. Every time you call (why is that many problems that we had 8 conversations in 6 months?!?) They tell you different information! I'm trying to cancel it, even that can't be done in 4 days, but they will leave a day after I move out?!? That's not all! They automatically take the last payment off your deposit and give you-listen to this- 24h to make any complaint to the amount!!! Just take any other service!
