Updated on 09/07/2022: I began reaching out to Power Home Solar, now Pink Energy in 2021 for assistance with low production and sometimes no production. I have filed multiple complaints. Someone responds that they will have someone reach out to me. No contact is ever provided. The one time I called in and demanded someone speak to me, I was accused of trying to extort money from PHS/Pink Energy. They had promised me a refund in 2021 and told me I would have to wait until 2022 to run a production analysis. When I called in 2022, I was told I would have to wait until January of 2023. I have to make payments on a system that doesn’t produce as promised by PHS/Pink Energy.

While someone responds to various complaints and reviews stating they will reach out for a resolution, they don’t. I attempted to contact the mailbox of feedback@gopink.com per a response to a review. The mailbox does not accept emails. TLDR: Power Home Solar/Pink Energy sold me faulty solar panels and a battery and is seeming doing everything they can to avoid responsibility.

Original Review: e had our panels installed in December of 2020. It took months to have the company come out and take a look at our system despite multiple reports that something was wrong. We were repeatedly assured our system was working approximately. Our system has never produced the amount of energy proposed by then Power Home Solar now Pink Energy. We have been treated so poorly throughout this process. Once it became widely known in 2021 that there were issues, only then did they send someone out and it took months.

We have been paying our energy bills plus the solar panels. We were provided a partial reimbursement for the time the panels were not producing in 2021, then told we would have to wait until 2022 before we could be reimbursed for the other months. At this point, they hadn’t fixed the panels so I thought this was fair and was assured I would be reimbursed. We began calling in 2022 and were told we would have to wait until 2023.

I escalated the issue and instead of being helped, I was accused of attempting to extort money from Pink Energy. They provided me a copy of the report they ran before but now refuse to provide any report. The representative screamed at me that I was reimbursed in July of 2022 then after a ton of arguing on my part, he admitted he was looking at the wrong account. It would be one thing if this company were to make the issues we experienced right but instead they have avoided their responsibility. I cannot recommend doing business with this company. It’s a waste of money and they will not help you when you suffer from their mistakes.

Solar panels were installed April 13th 2022. In the contract, it states that we are supposed to receive a rebate check 6-8 weeks after installation. Well as of now, it’s been 18 weeks and still no rebate check. Also, I’m paying for crap that’s not even operating. A technician was scheduled for August 17th, and they rescheduled to October 3rd. My utility company came out in July to change meter and couldn’t because of the panels not working. However, my utility company charged approximately 150 for a service call that they couldn’t perform. Pink has been nothing but a nightmare with empty promises and lies! Buyer beware!! It appears to me that they enjoy scamming people! With everything that is written in the contract, they have not upheld their end!

In Michigan, we deal with a lot of road construction. Our roads deteriorate fast. We are used to being rerouted when small bumps become potholes so roads can be repaired. Small bumps are no big deal. My experience with this company was not without small bumps. In fact, I had a pretty big one when their install team made an error, causing my system to not perform as planned. Like the big bumps in Michigan roads, though, I watched as the departments of this company took their time to evaluate the situation, learn from it, and resolve the issue in due time. Though the process wasn't without bumps, the end result was perfect, and the company showed themselves to be honest and reliable. I couldn't be more happy with the results of my solar power system!

We were supposed to have solar panels installed in September of 2021. However it is now August of 2022 and our Solar Panels are still not installed properly and working. We have been charged for the loan for the solar panels and yet they are not working. In addition when they did come out to start the process they cut our internet line, sewer line and destroyed our yard. We are still waiting 3 months later to be reimbursed for the items they destroyed on our property. Every time you call customer service you will be put on hold and told someone will call you back. No one ever calls you back. This company has a problem with communicating between departments and with their customers and should be shut down.

The system has had problems since it was installed. The internet connection didn't work. The install lead said give it a couple of days and it should come on. It didn't. Calling customer support is an exercise in futility. Long on hold times 30 minutes to an hour then the first person you talk to can handle the problem so I get transferred and another very long wait time. Then they have to schedule a technician that's a couple of weeks out. This happened twice. Currently the battery system isn't working and numerous phone calls with even longer wait times a technician is scheduled for more than a month out. In the meantime I am on commercial power all night. I have a monthly payment for the system and high electric bills.

When I told customer support this is unacceptable I was told that I was scheduled that there were many customers ahead of me. That spoke volumes on the quality of the system and customer support. At this time I am very sorry I purchased this system from Power Home Solar, Pink Energy. I have the system installed on my BnB and my guest ask about it. At this point I am telling them it is great when it works but don't consider Pink Energy due to very poor support after installation.

UPDATED 09/13/2022 07:25:30 UTC: So this journey with Power Homes now Pink Energy has truly brought out the terrible behavior in its employees. I can’t believe they can sleep at night. Knowing what they are doing to people's lives and this is just scratching the surface. I thought my story was special. That this couldn’t happen to anyone else. But I was wrong. Pink Energy miss counting solar panels at my house was not the first time this has happened. The more I read about this company the worse it gets and now they are brining a lawsuit against Generac the company that supplies all hardware and inverters.

So we have a bunch of finger-pointing going on when we need help getting our systems online. Pink energy refuse to come out to trouble the say it’s Generac equipment causing the problems But back to the 20,000 dollars for batteries I never received that pink energy charged the bank for and got paid for something they didn’t deliver. So they finally admitted we owe you 20,000. And we will give it to some company I never heard of them. They are going to send the money to them. Found out the where the company that got me a bank to buy my solar panels. Problem is Pink Energy owns this company. And there is a nice little contract that goes with the payout. It has to do with bad publicity and I have to take down everything.

But I put it one place but it’s been copied several times. I had a lawyer. Look at it and basically said you will be sued for breach of contract less than 6 hrs. I just can’t believe this company can’t be brought to justice and make them pay back every dime they have taken from the hardworking man and women. I’m giving a heads up to everyone. Do not buy you.

PREVIOUS REVIEW: The salesman was a master of lies but there were some highlights. Like after you docu sign all theses documents it’s your baby. They can make changes to the contract but you can’t unless you give up your first born or know a really good contract lawyer. My system or I should say headaches started with a meeting from solar energy salesman on a Saturday in November at 8:00am. That started at 12:30 because he couldn’t fine the address. Now don’t get me wrong I wanted solar panels and I wanted sel-fab brand which is what I was told. The reason is I work for a energy company and these are the brand we are buying for our solar fields and the warranty is second to none. This is the one and only good thing about this project I can give a A+ to. So the project was written up for 12 kilowatts of power. And I had did some figuring also and he was close.

So basically they take your electric bills for a year and produce a solar field that will cut your bill 70 to 80 percent then they charge you the savings your making in form of a bank payment for 25years which is the end of your warranty on your panels. Also they pay your first 12 months of payment by sending you a check for that amount. So you put it in your bank and set up a account in San Jose Cal at the bank that gave you the best of everything they had to because they specialize in solar panel loans. So every month they get there’s. So back to mine. Did I tell you how the salesman set this up to go on my roof of my house of 2000 square foot. And it’s 32 panels? Won’t fit on 2 of my houses.

Also they started 11 weeks late but when the on-site crews showed up they were top notch. I even sent a email to the salesman about how awesome they where. But he no longer works there. I found that out once I started to having issues over the batteries. I Wanted the batteries. To start with but when I read the fine print that said they are for emergency use only and they will keep a couple circuits on for a few hours during a power outage. I emailed him 8 days after contract signing and said I don’t want the batteries. I got no reply so I think we are good. No wrong. These batteries are still on the contract when it goes to bank and they pay. It’s 20,000 dollars for theses batteries.

I’m in the power generation business. And charging that price for 3 Generac batteries is highway robbery. But 9 months into this deal and the bank nor me have seen a dime of refund. That’s straight up robbery. They even told the bank that they would be getting the refund bu June 6th still nothing. Also the forgot to ground some components on the panels and my first inverter burnt up on me. Down 3 weeks. Then I got to looking at my system closer and I was wondering why I was only making 6.9 kilowatts. So I called a electrical engineer. He said how panels do you have I said let me look. I counted and told him 22 He said, "You will never make that with 22. You need 32." So I go look at contract and yes. 32 is what I bought. So the phone calls started. By the way they have the best phone system and operators in the scam artist business.

Finally they admit their mistakes and sent a whole new crew to install. Because now my second inverter smoked and no solar power for another 2 weeks. But when they show up quess what they had my 20K batteries with them that I would not let them install and the head electrician had to leave as soon as he got there because my inverter that was bad they failed to make a note in my file. So they drive to Louiszville to pick one up. So they pull all new wire in to the system because that is the issue the insulation had been damaged during first install. But I’m up and running. Still send my Where’s my money for the batteries. Bottom line is I would look at another solar company. Before this one even though they do supply sel-fab

Updated on 09/19/2022: I will tell you this. I put a review in on this in July, and they replied stating they would call me back and no one ever did. If I can help anyone from making the same mistake, guided by purchasing the solar panels and not having to deal with the dishonesty, it will be worth it. I discourage anyone from purchasing solar panels from Pink Energy.

Original Review: My experience with Pink Energy has been horrible. Their customer service is almost nonexistent. They never call you back. If anything moved on my project, it is because I continuously called over and over again. It took months for the system to go live, and I was the one who had to turn it on from a step-by-step email. I am not a solar expert. I should not have to turn on the system myself. No one from Pink Energy has ever come to my house since the sale and install. I am still not sure if it is working correctly, as I only saved $6.66 last month. How can they justify that? Why would anyone pay $52,000 for a system and get less than a $10 return each month?

They were very dishonest about what the return would be. They make the sale and then forget about you. I was approved for a one-month payment refund and still have not received it. That was almost 2 months ago. Each time I called the company the person I had talked to previously no longer works for the company. I HIGHLY discourage anyone from dealing with this company.

The whole process has been a nightmare since day one. The salesman was nice but uses ** pressure tactics. The appointment took 8 hours and until I gave a vocal commitment to buy he wouldn't even tell us the price. I should've realized the rest of the process and service would be just as sketchy but we really wanted to go solar and hoped for the best. Bad call on my part. I had concerns on some details but initially no one would respond. They do things by a text "concierge" called "Sunny". Eventually both the salesman and Sunny said they were "working on on my concerns" and yet I kept getting texts telling me they wanted to schedule the install. I repeatedly refused to authorize it until my concerns were addressed and they kept ignoring me and bulldozing on like I didn't have a choice.

They kept telling me someone would contact me about my concerns but that never happened. I even wrote Customer Service but never got a response from them. I finally got called by someone at their headquarters wanting to schedule the installation but I continued to refuse to authorize the install until my concerns were addressed. She put me in touch with someone there and it took him less than 2 minutes to answer my concerns, but it took me over a month and a half to get that far, and that was basically by accident. The install went good but all the extra things they offer you like the attic tent and water heater cover they don't install, they just drop it off in a box and it's up to you to install it. That's fun if you're elderly or disabled. They also don't tell you that if you already have a certain amount of insulation that they won't add any more, even though they used that as a selling point.

I have also been having issues with the batteries not fully charging and discharging too much (past the set point). This has been going on since the first day. I even bought an extra battery just to make sure I have enough reserve power (even though they said I wouldn't need it) but I still have a high electric bill. I have repeatedly tried to get this resolved and have been getting nowhere. When you call customer service plan on being on hold for hours - Tip, use the call back feature. After hours you usually get a call back, however if you need to talk to technical services expect to be on hold again for a long time. I have had a couple of techs that tried to help but they were unable to solve the problem. I was told it passed to a Lead and that he would call me by the end of the day. Nope, I had to call back and go through the hours on hold again.

When I finally got him on the phone he sounded like he had no idea what was going on. We talked, he said he would look into it and call me back that day, Nope, again. I had previously asked about a price quote for additional panels, and that's who contacted me. When I told him what was going on, that I wasn't getting call backs, he got the lead to call me back. The lead really didn't want to send a technician out to troubleshoot my system but finally agreed. I told him when I was available (this week or the next) and to email me the details as I was at work.

He emailed me and said it would be over a month and half before someone could look at the system. I emailed him back and told him that wouldn't work because I have been trying to get this fixed for months already. No response. I emailed him again the next day asking him about it. No response. I emailed the manager who gave me the price quote for additional panels. No response. Nothing but crickets from this company if you have concerns or a problem.

Once they get your money it's like you don't exist. I paid around $87,000 for this system, it doesn't work the way it should, they won't do anything to fix it but give lip service and push you off as much as possible. It's like if they ignore you long enough you'll just get frustrated and go away. Guaranteed service and support doesn't matter if they don't do it. I'm about to contact a lawyer and see what legal recourse I have because this is complete ** to treat a a paying customer this way. I acted in Good Faith, but Pink Energy has not. They may have changed their name from PowerHome Solar to Pink Energy but they sure haven't changed the lack of service after the sale. I would not recommend this company to anyone. And yes, I have all the texts and emails to back up what I said.

I would recommend solar panels but I would NOT recommend PINK ENERGY. It took months to get them to install the product. Their installation failed inspection TWICE!! Their crew left items all over our yard and on our roof, nails, screws and insulation. The screws left around damage two tires. We had installation end of January and weren’t generating any energy to the grid until May!! Of course, they took their funds out of our bank account.

After numerous telephone calls and emails about the shoddy installation they finally agreed to refund us the payments that were made as well as the tires. We signed e-documents stating that these funds would be released in 30 days. That was over two months ago. The installation they did looks unprofessional. We sent pictures of the work and they stated that they would send someone out to correct the issue. Someone comes, takes a picture of the same thing we sent and then nothing! Never heard back.

If you need assistance with your panels and call expect to be on hold 20 + minutes. However we learned if you call the sales department they of course answer right away. More interested in new clients than servicing the ones they already have. If your system goes offline the wait time to get someone to actually service your unit is a month.

After 1.5 years of the terrible install experience, we found a leak in our closet. Install experience included failing inspection 3 times and techs coming to the house asking "what needs to be fixed here?". It's your job to know why you failed inspection, not mine! They also dropped the attic fan through the ceiling of another closet and didn't say anything until I found the huge hole the next day! Since then, we have had issues with PV link and even needed the Inverter switched out. That took from August until December 28 to complete that job. May 2022, we called them for another PV link issue. 4 days after that, is when we found the leak. May 22 was when they were notified of the leak, they were not going to send anyone until June 23 to even look at the leak and mitigate the damage of our 4 yrs old house. We pushed for 2 weeks to escalate and finally got someone out to remove the panels on June 6.

We had our own roofer repair the house and have now been waiting for weeks for the reimbursement. Panels are sitting in our garage. Pink Energy says our situation does not warrant the contract to be rescinded as they want to put the panels back on our roof. They will never touch our roof again. So now we are paying on a $45k loan for a shoddy installation job in which zero manufacturer instructions were followed. This company had complete disregard for our roof, ripped shingles, did not seal any holes and my house was only 2 yrs old when Installed and they have the worst customer service. This has been a nightmare and I have contacted a lawyer to help us get out of this situation as this was a breach of contract. Additionally, we saved about 9.8% on our electric and it was supposed to be 55%. 100% do not recommend going with this company.

They want payment before the install in completed. I have been around real estate and contractors most of my life and have never dealt with a contractor like this. Have an attorney review their contract before signing. It is not in the consumers interest trust me.

For $42,000 + investment that only provides me around 1/3 of my home's consumption. Not a good deal and I suggest you hold on to your money. I was promised at least 1/2 my energy bill to be reduced. I also expected the system to work during the day after an outage on the grid. We went with them May 2021 and it was the worst decision of my life. It left my three kids and I HOMELESS for months (we return home in two days finally, when we were supposed to be home last September.) OUR SYSTEM STILL HAS NEVER WORKED OR BEEN TURNED ON TO THIS DAY AND IT'S BEEN OVER A YEAR! Their no-shows, lies, failures and damages left us without power, heat or water for months and with mold, ultimately causing us to be displaced from our home until I finally revoked their access and hired a lawyer (which a supervisor of theirs directly told me to do after the 11th month) after months of no shows to repair the damages (cut holes in my roof with no repair, spilled chemicals and didn’t clean them up, caused molds from I cleaned spills, a leak in the roof from installation) and them even seemingly falsifying an insurance claim and insurance adjuster through Sedgwick Insurance to fix the damages from this past January.

They sent an “adjuster” who came and took pics, videos and measurements, gave his phone number and the name Chauncey **, then literally disappeared. I never received any documents or even a claim number which would have been provided for any other insurance claim process, and he won’t answer or return calls and neither will Sedgwick and this was 4/4/22. I’ve still to this day never seen or heard about the “report”. Powerhome/Pink Energy has still been unable to supply this “report” to my lawyers or their lawyers! DO NOT ACCEPT ANY QUOTE OR WORK FROM PINK ENERGY. Get a lawyer and do not let them in your house if you have made the mistake of signing with them. I truly wish I had never done this, and just don’t want anyone else to go through this hell.

UPDATED 7/6/2022:This scam of a company tried to offer us a measly $957 to resolve the issue of them scamming us, which would consider the issue completely resolved. We told them the only way to resolve it was by installing more panels to produce enough energy to cover our electricity usage like the salesman convinced us that this $68,000 system plus interest would produce, or cut the initial loan in half. $957 won’t even cover the electricity bills and the solar payments we have made in the last year. What a joke! Do not trust this company!!! Salesmen tell a bunch of lies to get you to sign a contract that you are stuck with. They are willing to rip off elderly disabled people. Technical support, customer support, the new team to try to repair the company image are all horrible. This is a completely unethical company!

This company will rip you off. The sales pitch is that they will design you a system that will produce enough energy to replace your electric bill. It’s very expensive, horrible customer service, and we still have an electric bill. Multiple problems with the entire process. Emails and phone calls do not get returned or the employees are not knowledgeable about the equipment or issues. This company was previously Power Home Solar and they had to change their name because they got a horrible reputation. Not worth your time or money to sign a contract with this company. I love having solar panels but find a different company and save yourself the headache and loss of a lot of money.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Salesman lied to get us to sign a contract. Said system would eliminate electric bill and would only have to pay a solar panel bill. Did not provide enough panels for our electric needs. Now stuck in a contract and paying for both which costs us way more per month. Salesman assured us we would not have an electric bill other than a customer charge and could use the money we were paying on electricity to pay for the solar panels. Pink Energy does not care about the lies the salesmen tell you as long as they get you to sign a contract. My husband is disabled and receives a fixed income, which is why we wanted a fixed payment knowing that energy prices were going up.

The salesman assured us that the system designed for us would produce all of our electricity needs. Technicians don’t know what they are doing. Customer service is horrible. We have had the system for a year now and it has never produced enough electricity in any month, even during times when heat or air conditioner was not used. Customer service rep advised today that we needed to give it four more months to see what happens. They are just pushing us off because they don’t want to do the right thing and fix their unethical sales practices.

Sales folks make this company seem great and communicate very well. Everything falls apart after that. We were scheduled 3 times to get the system installed, each time at the company's request. We were told we could approve the solar panel plan and that the approved plan would be installed. We did not approve the original plan and even had an email conversation with the engineer. We requested a change of plan. When the installation team arrived they had the original plan. We again requested a change in the plan.

The plan as we wanted it got approved while the installation guys hung around the house. During the installation, the team lead refused to run electrical lines through the interior (attic) of the house, because he did not want to penetrate a brick wall. This is the same wall they penetrated to get to the electrical box, so I am confused. At this point, I have conduit running outside the house and it does not look attractive at all. I do not see how this process "helps improve my home value", as the seller said. No one seemed to know or understand or communicate the inspection process once the system was installed.

The finance company they use starts payments before the system is operation and has you sign saying that this may happen and that you acknowledge that they will be paid regardless of how effective the system works. Obviously, they have been there before. After repeated phone calls and complaints, I guess we can finally turn our system on and start using it. However, the agreement with the utility company still has the original drawing of the system, because it was never changed.

So now I have a legally binding agreement with the utility company that is incorrect and it is because these people will not fix things or make corrections. The Customer Service Department does not take complaints and does not deal with issues raised. The only way I have been able to get these folks to do anything, is by publishing these types of complaints. I have requested that someone with decision-making authority and ability contact me directly, multiple times and have had no response to these requests.

This company is nothing short of the worst company I have ever dealt with. Customer service is truly abysmal and non existent for the most part. Here is a breakdown of my interactions with this company over the past year. Signed contract for installation of panels and backup battery July of 2021. Was told installation would take 6-8 weeks. Hit the 8 week mark with little to no communication unless I initiated and was given nothing but canned responses. Was told county was unresponsive etc. Contacted county and was told that they had been requesting info from Powerhome and that Powerhome was not sending necessary to approve project. Informed Powerhome of this and then was given more canned responses about delays etc.

Located the email address for all board members of Powerhome and sent email stating my displeasures in the absurd delays and lack of service/communication. System finally installed in December and went active in January. Only knew it went active due to storm and losing power. The backup battery lasted me a whopping 3-4 hours not the 48-72hrs that was promised. Alright so I got "got" by the sales person, chalk that up to a loss and move on as much as it sucks. Now I'm not seeing near the production that was promised whatsoever and nowhere near remotely close to the production promised.

Now the system has stopped working all together, I have now spent a collective of 211 minutes on the phone just trying to get in touch with the non existent customer service department to get this remedied. Shocker I can't get a single person on the phone and the emails I sent have gotten nothing but generic responses to contact customer service. But each email they provide the WRONG phone number, so I used google to find the actual number. Generally I would assume that providing the wrong number was simple mistake but based on everything I am reading about the company I believe it to be intentional. I just want my system to work!!!

Or at least the 80k system we had installed a year ago, which has worked for 10 days of that year, is ineffective. And does NOT generate what we were sold when it does work. They damaged our roof and we have black mold in our bedroom. They damaged our bathroom ceiling when they stepped through it and "patched" it so it is lumpy and cracked. I spend hours on hold weekly trying to reach a resolution. I just want them to remove these things from my home, fix my roof, and pay off or cancel the 80000 we were charged for this system. 1st, our salesman was great. This review is being written while on hold now going on 50 minutes. On the Day the install crew arrived, the Crew leader exited his vehicle on the phone, and he was saying “if they’re going to fire me, they’ll have to do it to my face”. The install was completed without many issues, however, when it came time for inspections, they failed HARD. There were issues regarding safety as well as workmanship. The breakers installed were sun damaged and brittle, they were lacking hold down interlocks, they did not meet manufacture recommended code for the room where the inverter and battery were installed and the system did no get installed per the drawings that were submitted to the County. The company, then Power Home Solar, now Pink Energy canceled repair service the day of or day before on no less than 4 occasions.

On days that a tech arrived, they may fix one of the failed issues. But never all until the final visit, and several times fixed nothing, took pictures, and assured me the next time they came, they would be able to take care of the rest. I always had to inform the tech crews what the issues were, because they only once showed up aware of all issues needing remedied.

I am currently producing 0-zero solar energy as all of my PV links are DOWN. The first went down in March, and they scheduled repair in May. They canceled that service on my and moved it to July. The other 2 PV links have since failed and I am paying for a product that is producing nothing. The worst part is the phone tag. Customer service does allow for a callback, but tech support does not. So actually talking to the people that can schedule the appointment tends to take multiple calls and long hold times. Sometimes to no avail. I am considering digging into UDAAP or other regulations the relationship may be in violation of. Unfortunately I am tied to Pink Energy, and their terrible service for any repairs. Thanks for reading.

This company is the LARGEST waste of time and dang near highway robbery on their quotes! DO NOT SIGN A DARN THING WITH THEM UNLESS YOU HAVE AT LEAST 1 MORE QUOTE TO COMPARE AND DO NOT AGREE TO ANYTHING WITHOUT HAVING 24 HOURS TO REVIEW FOR YOURSELF!!! I like using Energy sage as you get 2-4 quotes with minimal time involvement.

Pink Energy scheduled a 1 hour on site assessment. My field consultant (Kurt) was solid. Came in, took a bunch of pictures around the house and in the attics. Was fairly knowledgeable. That took around 30 minutes, which wasn't too bad. Then we connected to a "senior consultant" and things went downhill. I made it clear I had already shopped around and just looking for a quote. They required a full dog and pony show, explaining how great the company was and everything. There were 15 minutes or so of technical difficulties, which I can understand as they are changing their process, but it took 2 hours for me to get to the actual quote! When I did, I almost fell off my seat. The consultant was a typical sales person, trying to build my ego and make me feel good at first, then getting real pushy to close the sale. They wanted $40K (before 26% tax credit) for the system!!!

I then heard them talking about "16" several times so I thought they meant 16 KW, which made me feel a bit better, but then I looked on the page (which they did not mention) and it was 16 PANELs, and 6KW (NO battery)!!! THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!! They were more than double then nearly every other company, even those that used the same darn panels! Yes, they added a few nice energy efficient upgrades (insulation, light bulbs, smart thermostat), but that is only if you need them (I could only use a few inches of insulation). They also add those to the energy coverage to make it look like they are really covering more energy than is true. All the while they only said the monthly payment and low interest rate, but did not mention the loan was over 25 years until I asked.

Then when I said I need to run the numbers myself, the consultant kept saying "Ok, so you have them now, want to call back in a couple hours or tonight?" (I said, "I need a couple days"). "Ok, let's schedule a call for when you get out of work tomorrow." (I said, Let's do in two days"). "Let's set up time for tomorrow just 'to touch base." DUDE! I work full time and need time to digest all this and honestly thought I was missing something at that cost.

Very glad I have a finance background and was able to see through their **. They sell you on payment, which looks close to the coverage, but SOOOO much in the details. They did not even send me a quote, though recorded the whole conversation (which of course I did not receive a copy of). I have no clue how this company is in business. Maybe they make you feel like you have already invested so much time that you may as well go with them? IDK. My experience might be a one off, but I would not recommend this to anyone. Go with another big installer or a local mom and pop, anyone but this company. You will save $10K+ by just looking at someone else.

    Reviewed May 7, 2022

I am a 10 year Air Force (disabled) Veteran and a 9 year medically retired Police Officer. I and my wife, who is a current Detective with our local Sheriff's Office, were taken advantage of by the company PowerHome Solar, soon to become Pink Energy. We were repeatedly lied to during the sales process and continually after the sale. It is my concern that if people such as ourselves who are pretty savvy and have a healthy natural suspicion can be so easily taken advantage of, what will happen to people who are more trusting?

In the early part of March 2021 I was concerned with losing power during spring storms. This led me to search online for backup generators. This then led me to the company Generac who is a well known backup generator company. As it turns out Generac was partnered with a company called Powerhome Solar to provide backup batteries to their systems.

As I researched the company I couldn't find many negatives and the couple I did find I wrote off to a couple upset customers, not the majority. I recently found out the company continually scrubs the internet to maintain a decent reputation. Since the company appeared to have a decent reputation and made claims that you could "own your power," I contacted them in the first couple weeks of March 2021.

A salesperson came to our house and seemed pretty knowledgeable. My wife and I asked a litany of questions to include how much power the system would generate, what happens if it does not generate enough, what happens during bad weather and snow etc. all of our questions were answered to our satisfaction. We were told repeatedly that if the system underperformed they would make it right, they would add panels to cover the lack of production. We were told that the panels were designed to slough off snow to start working as soon as possible after snowstorms.

We were told that we needed a 11.55KW system to provide the power our family needed, to include charging a Tesla we owned at the time. The system was installed In April 2021. This was one of the worst financial mistakes my wife and I have ever made. The system has never performed to the level advertised. We asked about adding capacity and were told "we don't do that." Service people came out to the house and told us the panels were facing the wrong direction. Needless to say we did not turn our house and the system was designed that way.

I asked what I could do and the technician said they needed to be tilted to face the sun more directly, I asked how to get that done and he told me they don't do it, but he had seen it at other companies. To the best of my knowledge the most power the system produces under ideal conditions (no clouds) was just over 8KW. As mentioned above we addressed snow, the panels are actually the last thing to melt after a snowstorm causing zero production until they thaw.

The installation itself was less than ideal. The technicians left a mess on our property, tools in our garage, nails in the driveway, etc. This caused me to blow out a tire on our Tesla Model S. As you can imagine this is not cheap (over 400$). I don't like to make accusations I can't prove so at the time I did not address it with the company because I couldn't be 100% sure they caused it.

Shortly after installation of the system, the Generac inverter burned out. The company eventually came out and changed the inverter and one of the technicians almost killed himself by working with a screwdriver through live wires carrying over 400V. He touched one of them and it arced and I heard a boom. He actually showed me the screwdriver and it was burned and melted. This tells me they don't know what they are doing and shouldn't be trusted with people's homes. The inverter was never installed correctly causing the internet to not connect to the company. This is still an ongoing problem and they use it as an excuse to not be able to see how much we are producing.

When it comes to underproduction, this is where the large part of our frustration comes in. The system underperforms so badly that instead of producing more power than we used as they said it would, we actually pay as much as double our old payment for electricity. This is because we are paying for the solar system payment and for electricity we have to still get from the power company.

The financial woes from this system are going to continue to get worse. During the sales process of the system we were told we would get a 26% rebate on the price of the system from the federal government. The salesman showed us the payments we would need to make including this credit. As it turns out the credit is on taxes owed. This is causing us to take 5 years to get the full amount back. In the meantime the loan will adjust higher because we are unable to pay it down, directly caused by not getting the tax money back like they told us we would. If we continue at the current pace we will be over 14,000$ behind by the end of 2022.

Powerhome Solar should not be permitted to operate in Missouri, or anywhere else for that matter. They are dishonest, misleading and greedy. They take advantage of people who are just trying to do the right thing. How many times have we seen that we have to use less fossil fuels and be more responsible? It is no wonder people are so hesitant to convert with predatory companies like this out preying on people. They are actively taking food out of my children's mouths by their dishonesty. This letter does not include every problem my family has encountered with Powerhome Solar (Pink Energy). These are merely the highlights. All we ever wanted was for the system to perform like they said it would. This is obviously too much to ask of the company, and they know it. At this point I want this system off of my house before it causes any more damage and I want the loan forgiven. I want it to be like I never contacted this business.
