What is Green Home Systems?

Green Home Systems is a solar panel installation company specializing in renewable energy. It installs residential and commercial solar panels. Additional products include backup batteries, generators and inverters. Mounting options include rooftop, ground and carport/shade structures. Green Home Systems offers solar panels from brands including Panasonic, QCells, Longi and URE. Installations come with a 25-year production and workmanship warranty.

How does Green Home Systems work?

Green Home System solar panel projects start with a free quote online or by phone. Once you request a quote, a consultation takes place. This includes looking at your property, analyzing your electrical bill and taking measurements. After the consultation, Green Home Systems will design your system and all component needs, like inverters and backup batteries.

After a design is complete and a quote accepted, Green Home Systems takes care of any permit needs. Then an installation date is scheduled. Install times vary based on the project scope. All Green Home Systems installations are backed by a 25-year performance and product warranty.

After installation, solar panels are ready to generate alternative energy. When the sunlight hits the panels, an electric field is created. The electricity flows through a conductive wire that carries the current to the inverter, which converts the electrical energy to AC (alternating current) power. The AC power travels to the breaker box, which delivers the electricity throughout your home or business. Any unused electricity goes to the electric meter and back to the grid.

Green Home Systems is a fully licensed and insured solar company. It also carries certificates from SolarEdge and Enphase and has a partnership with Panasonic as an EverVolt Elite Installer.

Green Home Systems products

  • Batteries: Backup batteries store solar panel energy to be used when the sun isn’t out. Green Home Systems offers Enphase, LG and HomeGrid battery options.
  • Other: Green Home Systems offers add-on products for your solar panel-run home or business. These include optimizers, backup generators, a solar racking system and smart electrical panels.

Green Home Systems prices

Solar panel project cost varies, but you can expect to pay between $9,000 and $13,000 for a full-system installation. For larger projects, pricing can go up to around $15,000. Solar panels are eligible for tax credits, which can help offset the initial cost. Other factors affecting overall price include solar panel brand, installation complexity, labor and financing. Cost should be laid out clearly in the Green Home Systems quote and contract to prevent surprise expenses.

Contracted them first week in Oct 2025 to install my panels before the tax rebate on solar expired. Kept promising they would deliver as the deadline approached, then they ghosted me. Called me end of the first week in January and asked if installers called. They apologized and said I was one of 30 that fell through the cracks. Took my money and never did any work. Never file for a permit. Now I am suing for $25K that they absconded with. They said they would refund my money, but so far all I’ve gotten have been excuses.

Totally got screwed out of $73,000+ using this company. They have no desire to live up to their contract at all. They lied to the bank to start a loan when they haven’t even started installation of my panels. They promised me money. When complete I would get $1000.00 back. They promised I would get my first month of electricity free. I got was SCREWED!!!! I am now trying to deal with my local power company on my own to rectify their problem on my own because Green Home won’t even return my phone calls. They also refuse to return calls from my power co. I now have to utilize an attorney just to get someone to call me to rectify my problem. Hello Green Home Services. My Phone number for the umpteenth time is **.

We had a system installed in our home in February of 2022. To date August 19, 2025 the system is still not up and running. We have contacted (or have tried) to contact Green Home systems to get this corrected for 3 years now. They do not answer their phone, I am put in queue and then no option to leave a message and no-one answers. They have not paid the installer, some parts were missing from the initial install, which took forever to get, then the manufacturer sent the wrong parts. Now we are at the point that the batteries sat too long and they need to be replaced, we cannot reach Green Homes at this point. I do not recommend Green Homes at all.

Once they get paid, they disappear. If you have an issue, they will not call back or answer calls, social media, or anything else. Furthermore, when you reach out to the vendor SolarEdge, they send you back to the installer that you already cannot reach—a complete circle.

Updated on 11/30/2024: Terrible communication from installation to now. Terrible customer service. They will ghost you when you have an issue, ignore you or try to blame you. A tree fell on my roof in June 2023, and we are still dealing with that! The Customer service manager, as well as Chief Technology Officer constantly told me dates the work would begin, but those dates did not actually work out on their end. Finally a guy could come, but they sent him with a very small ladder. No apologies from the company for anything. CTO once again lied about when someone would be back to put the panels back on the roof. Now we are close to winter in Illinois, and they are using that as an excuse. The contract for the work was signed in September!! I have water damage inside my house from their negligence!!

Original review: Tree fell in 2023, causing holes in the solar panel & roof & water damage. Paid half up front and still don't have a date when work will begin. When I reach out to the customer service manager, she does not answer or return calls. She texts whenever she feels like it. Always quick to say "it will be done by this day." "I will provide an update in a few hours." Yet, she never has a date or an update for me. When I call her out she, "is working on it right now."

They took forever to get the project started (6 months). I went through 4 or 5 different project managers. They promised a check written out to me upon project completion and now I can't even get in contact with anyone.

This company has been a nightmare from the beginning. It took over 6 months to even get installed. Then we were basically threatened into a refinance after telling them to take them back. They threatened with a restocking fee after their own mistake. Now after only operating for around a year they have stopped working completely. Contacting them for over a month now is almost impossible and there is nothing being done. I would rather have them taken away than fixed at this point.

They are nothing but con artists and thieves. Because of so many mistakes on their end. Robby the CEO (the most unprofessional person I have ever talked to) put it in writing that they would cover costs. I was forced to finance my federal tax credit just because I financed a solar loan. I was told that they apply it to my loan later. Well, all I am getting is the runaround 1 year later. I am going to have to get a lawyer to get the money paid to me that was promised In Writing. They are con artists and scammers. It only takes 3 people to do a class action lawsuit. Contact me if there are any takers for this.

RUN AWAY!!! Do not use this company. We selected this company after another solar vendor did not deliver for us. After months of research we landed with them. I'm happy to see that the rating is now an F on this site, unfortunately for us it was still an A at the time of our agreement in Jan 2023. At first all seemed fine, they delivered the panels, had an installer get them on in March 2023. Then everything went wrong, they were not able to obtain the permission to operate (PTO) from our electric company because they have no idea how to pick up the phone. We called multiple times. Got the run around for months. We were told they would make all payments to our lender until the PTO was completed. We assumed this meant they would actually work on things as they were paying the bill. That was not the case.

Finally I found the email of the CEO Barry, he put us in touch with his "top guy" Robbie **. Robbie threatened us on multiple occasions for leaving negative reviews of their company. We obtained our PTO in March 2024 because I took the time to coordinate everything with our power company. This company was trying to claim it would cost an additional $10,000 to get a new line run to our house. The actual cost was $750. They are nothing but scammers. They still owe us $3,387.45 though I don't we will ever see that. As the latest email we received they are having "financial struggles".

In a CONTRACT, they have signed and my husband has signed, it states they owe us $868. Part of that amount is a rebate for going solar (in writing in a contract signed by both parties), and the other part of that amount is a payment owed to us for their clerical error in entering our address (payment is also in a signed contract), resulting in excessive power bills from the utilities company due to switching to solar. They have owed us this money for SIX MONTHS going on SEVEN with constant communication in attempts to collect. And constantly being told the check will be mailed the next day checks are sent out or that it was already mailed (has never showed up).

Robbie ** is an absolute joke, sarcastic, passive aggressive, condescending but worst of all, a LIAR. I sent a demand letter for payment, 7 business days ago demanding payment in 2 weeks. Which has been acknowledged, forwarded to the company lawyer, and then ignored. I have filed a complaint with the BCA, will now be looking at filing a bad business complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, state of California, state of Nevada (state the work was completed in), and any other avenue I can. We are now looking at pursuing this in the court of law in 7 more business days. DO NOT GO THROUGH THIS COMPANY!!! They have terrible business ethics.
