Sunset Farm Foods recalls pork and chicken sausages

Thin pieces of blue plastic may have found their way into the product

Sunset Farm Foods of Valdosta, Ga., is recalling approximately 4,480 pounds of fully cooked chicken and pork smoked sausages.

The product may contain extraneous materials – specifically thin pieces of blue plastic.

While the company received consumer complaints about the plastic pieces embedded inside the pork and chicken sausage, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions.

The following item, produced on June 30, 2022, is being recalled:

  • 28-oz. vacuum sealed packages of “Georgia Special Chicken and Pork Smoked Sausage” with a sell by date of 10-28-22.

The recalled product, bearing the establishment number “P 9185” inside the USDA mark of inspection, was sold at retail locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

What to do

Customers who purchased the recalled product should not consume it, but discard or return it to the place of purchase.
