More coated pretzels recalled due to Salmonella risk

Western Mixers Produce & Nuts, Inc. is the latest snack company to recall products over Salmonella worries - FDA

It’s the third recall in recent weeks for that reason

Another snack company is recalling its coated pretzels because the coating has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall was issued by Western Mixers Produce & Nuts, Inc. of Ontario, Calif.

It follows last week's recall by Palmer Candy Company of Sioux City, Iowa, which recalled its “White Coated Confectionary Items” because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Western Mixers Produce & Nuts has recalled Yogurt Covered Pretzels because the yogurt coating has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

The recalled products were mostly distributed in California through Thorp Fruit, Down Home Goods, Smart & Final, Gelson’s retail stores.

The following products have been recalled:

Smart & Final, First Street Brand; plastic containers, 6 oz& 15 oz.
