Mercedes-Benz recalls 161,000 GLE and GLS class vehicles

The rear door window trim bars may detach, causing a road hazard

Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is recalling 161,000 of the following vehicles:

  • Model year 2020-2022 GLE350s, GLE450s & GLS450s,
  • Model year 2021-2022 AMG GLE53s, model year 2020-2021 GLE580s, GLS580, and
  • Model year 2021 GLE400es, AMG GLS63s, AMG GLE63 Ss, & Maybach GLS600 vehicles.

The rear door window trim bars may detach, due to a manufacturing error, cause a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash or injury.

So far in 2022, Mercedes-Benz has issued 27 recalls for a total of nearly 890,000 vehicles.

What to do

Dealers will inspect and secure the rear window trim bars -- as necessary -- free of charge.

Owner notification letters should go out November 11, 2022.
