The D. F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. is recalling 44-oz packages of Market Pantry White Fudge Animal Cookies.

The product may contain pieces of metal wire.

It's important to be on the lookout for foodborne foreign objects. Those that are hard, sharp and large may cause serious injury or dental injury.

Foodborne foreign objects that are flexible -- not sharp -- and smaller in length are more likely to cause minor injuries such as choking or small lacerations in the gastrointestinal system.

The recalled product, which comes in a bear-shaped clear plastic jug with lot number Y052722, Best By Date of February 21, 2023, and UPC code 085239817698, was sold at Target stores nationwide.

Stauffer was involved in a recall more than five years ago for animal crackers containing milk powder, which was not declared on the label.

What to do.

If you purchased the recalled product do not consume it, but return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumers with questions may contact the firm at (888) 480-1988, Monday – Friday from, 8am to 5pm (EST).
