The company says the chests are unstable unless anchored to a wall

Magnussen Home has issued a recall for 13,200 of its Nova Series 5-Drawer Chests because they are unstable unless anchored to a wall. An unstable chest presents a tip-over and entrapment hazard that could be fatal to young children.

The chests were manufactured from August 2009, through August 2015 and are made of wood with a walnut veneer. Magnussen has received one report of a chest tipping over so far, resulting in minor bruises to one child.

Consumers who own one of the recalled chests are being urged to stop using it immediately and contact the company for a refund. Magnussen stated that the refund will be pro-rated based on the age of the product.

Consumers can call the company toll-free at 1-833-748-0210 Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (ET), for more information. Online, they can visit the company’s recall page here.
