Kia again recalls model year 2008-2009 Sportages

An engine compartment fire may occur while the vehicle is parked or being driven

Kia America is again recalling 71,704 model year 2008-2009 Sportages that were recalled in 2016.

An engine compartment fire originating from around the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) may occur.

This could happen while the vehicle is being driven or is parked, posing a risk of injury.

What to do

Owners should park their vehicles outside and away from structures and other vehicles until it has been repaired.

A remedy is currently under development.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 22, 2022.
