Health Canada recalls SafePlug Controlled Duplex-Receptacle

Health Canada is recalling about 2,075 SafePlug Model 1202 Controlled Duplex-Receptacles.

The device may overheat causing charring to the internal components, posing a fire hazard.

There have been five reports of overheating, but no injuries

This recall involves the SafePlug Model 1202 Controlled Duplex-Receptacle with ZigBee Smart Energy Profile (SEP).

The recalled product is used to monitor and manage energy use and has remote control applications.

The model number is 1202-9962, and a CSA 23670 certification mark can be found on the back of the product.

The recalled product, manufactured in the U.S., was sold throughout Canada from May 2018 to May 2019.

What to do

Customers who purchased the recalled product should immediately stop using, disconnect, and dispose of it.
