Cummins recalls L9 diesel engines

Excessive ammonia can become trapped in tailpipe exhaust

Cummins is recalling 477 L9 Diesel Engines, with part number D563027BX03.

The engine calibration software's management of the injection of Diesel Exhaust Fluid can allow excessive ammonia into the tailpipe exhaust.

Exposure to high levels of ammonia can increase the risk of injury.

What to do

Dealers will recalibrate the engine free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 27, 2021.
