The driver's airbag may not deploy

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing is recalling 110,047 of the following vehicles:

  • Model year 2023 Corollas, Corolla Crosses, Corolla Cross Hybrids, Highlanders, Highlander Hybrids & Tacomas,
  • Model year 2023 Lexus RX350s, RX350 Hybrids & RX500 Hybrids,
  • Model year 2023-2024 Lexus NX250s, NX350s & NX350 Hybrids.

An electrical connection inside the steering column's spiral cable assembly may be insufficiently welded, causing the connection to separate and deactivate the driver's airbag.

Failure of the driver's airbag to deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.

What to do

Dealers will inspect and replace the spiral cable assembly -- if necessary -- free of charge.
