I have been feeding my toy poodle Evanders for over a year and she used to like it. Recently, past 4-5 months things have changed. She won't eat it and one time when she did eat a little she threw up. I noticed in the recent cans that they look different. The cans used to have nice lean beef and now they are about 80-90% FAT. (Paying almost $5 a can for FAT is ridicious!) The juice used to be like a liquid gravy and now it is thick gel. I wrote to the Company and sent them pictures but they did not respond. I will not be purchasing from this Company anymore because of the quality control on their products and lack of customer service.

My chihuahua, who has a great appetite, seemed to enjoy Evanger's when I bought some a year or two ago, so I recently loaded up on cans of their "Super Premium Chicken Dinner," "Cooked Chicken Wet Dog Food," "Classic Chicken and Rice Wet Dog Food," and "Senior Dinner and Weight Management Dinner Wet Dog Food." She rejects every can as if it were poison. I went back to familiar brands like Blue Buffalo and Purina, and she eats those without issue. Every time I try to slip an Evanger's can back into the mix, she rejects it. I think her sense of smell & taste is telling me something. Too late, I did some research and read about Evanger's "spotty" record (to say the least), including numerous recalls, evidence of horse meat, and lethal doses of ** in their wet food - even if those were years ago and they've apparently cleaned up their act. I'll never trust this brand.

36 out of the 48 cans I received were seriously dented...especially the ones in the middle of the cases which tells anyone who has picked orders... It's like the rejected cans from recoup were all wrapped up and sent to me.

You all know the expression, "I wouldn't give that to my dog" in regard to bad food. Well that's about it...Gave it to my wonderful senior dog and he started throwing up almost immediately...How does the FDA allow this garbage product to be consumed by any living thing?.. With all the good dog food available, why would anyone buy this? Definitely not a quality product....

Both of my dogs have been sick all year with bloody diarrhea. One keeps foaming from the mouth. I have been taking them both to the vet. It’s been heartbreaking, never mind expensive! I stopped feeding them the can dog food for about 6-8 weeks because money got tight with the vet bills. Their bloody diarrhea went away and no more foaming from the mouth. 1 day after starting it back up everything returns again! I was not aware the history with this company! I’m very upset! I will be taking action!

Purchased two cans of Evangers beef meatloaf style food, both made all my dogs that ate it, sick. The first can I fed to one dog (35lbs older husky puppy) mixed half with dry per usual, and she had very smelly, soupy diarrhea that night and into the next day. I hasn’t realized it was the can yet, thought she might have eaten something in the yard that upset her tummy.

The next day I fed most of the second can, and the remainder of the first, to 7 of my 8 dogs, not realizing what was about to happen, or what the culprit was. All that day, and night, everyone who ate the evangers had the same soupy, rancid and awful smelling diarrhea, and they acted like they had to poop urgently. Several of the puddles contained blood. I was able to narrow it down to the evangers as the only dog that wasn’t affected was the one who didn’t eat any of it. Also, I went back and smelled very closely the remnants of the second can, and it was a distinct off-color and smelled bad.

At this point, out of curiosity, I offered a spoonful of just the evangers to a couple of my dogs, and they refused it! They wouldn’t eat it unless it was mixed with something else. The diarrhea continued into the next day, with more blood, and then everyone went back to solid poos. 100% certain this evangers food made my dogs (all northern breeds from 32-130lbs) sick, and I encourage people to not buy their product. Also, I found a detailed list of evangers past problems, issues, and a recall after dogs died, listed on PoisonedPets website and it’s a long list of complaints and problems! If my mind wasn’t already made up to neverfeed evangers again, it would be now after reading their “troubled history”.

Evanger's canned dog food is carried in a local small business store as one of their mid-range priced but high quality canned dog foods. I especially like the grain free. My dogs love it and the ingredients seem safer than some other brands.

I normally don't feed my English Setters Evanger's brand food, but Chewy.com had a promotion and I bought two cases of the Super Premium Lamb and Rice Dinner can dog food to try out. My 2 yr old loves Lamb, so I fed it to her. The other Setter is a pup and she has her own puppy diet. When opening the first can, I noticed the food was coarse and extremely dry. I contacted Chewy.Com with my concerns and was told the food has a 78% moisture content, a loaf style and was fine, so I decided it was ok to give it to her. She seemed to like it, but drank a lot of water afterwards.

A couple days later, while sleeping off a meal, she abruptly jumped up and then fell down on her side having had a brain seizure that lasted about a minute. Afterwards, she was fine. Two days later she had another seizure, but this one lasted about 2 minutes. My Vet couldn't diagnose the problem. So, not knowing the cause, I decided to immediately stop feeding her the food and since then she hasn't had another seizure. Coincidence, I don't know? Chewy.Com was notified about both events and I was reimbursed the cost of the remaining cans of food. I also reached out to Evanger's about my experience, as well as my concerns and their customer service has "never responded." I had included the stamped markings on the cans, so they would know what batch the food came from. A report has been filed with the FDA.

I feel this company is above and beyond any other. I have done a lot of my own research on various brands and I always come back to them. I have been using their canned food now for a few years and just started buying their dry food. They are a smaller company who care about our pets and what we feed them.

Recently the Evanger's Meat Lovers Medley dry food appears darker in color and has a slightly different odor. I feel there has been a change in formula though Chewy says they have asked Evanger's and they say there is no change. I am concerned.
