    Updated on 06/25/2020: Consumer Affairs is very helpful. However I received an email from Just Answer and still haven't got my $46.00 back in my acct. The email did say 3-5 Business days and that was Friday June 19th. So where is it? I am very thankful that it's being sent back in the acct. But why is it taking this long. It seems to me, it's a push of a button? Maybe they're waiting for a response from me..I do so love **, the phones are great. In fact I've been thinking of putting my son on it too.

    Original review: I got online with Just Answer and the charge said $1.00 for 1 question and when I got the email from them, I canceled my membership right away. Well, I checked my bank acct. and $46.00 was taken out today so I'm calling ** Monday the 22nd. And they best get that money back in my acct. I am an angry older woman right now.

    I had a pressing quick legal question. I paid my $5 and waited online for 1 hour for my response. The service kept telling me they were contacting a lawyer. After a very long time, they suggested I hang up and they would contact me via email. They never contacted me and today they charge my account $60! This site is a scam!

    No they are a joke. I called with a fairly straightforward legal question and the lawyer they paired me with (after a non refundable $59) spent the 20 minutes we talked berating me for not knowing the law. It is why I called you idiots...because I do not know the law. After calling to express my dissatisfaction and cancel the on-going monthly payments I was told that I would be billed in perpetuity and my membership was permanent. I had to cancel my debit card just to end my affiliation with this scam. I am in the process of contacting my state's consumer protection agency to file an official complaint. I am out almost 70 dollars and the headache of cancelling a credit card and waiting for a new one. A SCAM. STAY AWAY.

    From the reviews it looks as though this would mostly be a good service. I just wanted to note that they give you a 7 day free trial but then to cancel you must notify them in writing via email and the process takes 7+ days or more so be prepared to be charged for that first month after the free trial because the cancellation process will not be completed by the time your trial has finished.

    I would give a negative review if I could. This is a scam company. Paid $5 for trial for one week to ask a question to an “expert”. In trial info it said I would be notified prior to being billed when trial period ended. That didn’t happen. I asked a question about the value of some antiques I found in family belongings. It took over 8 hours for a response and the “expert” told me that similar items are selling on eBay and Etsy for $100! I already knew that! I can do that “expert” query! “Selling for” NOT “sold” even.

    I immediately contacted via email asking for a refund of the $5 and cancellation of account. I never got a response. I was just charged an additional $28 and when I attempted to contact them on their site via chat (just computer generated answers) and then email (would not allow me to send email after chat discussion). I called # associated with charge on my bank account and rep told me “you should have cancelled it during trial period”. Refused refund even tho multiple requests were made and I called them within 1 hour of charge posting to my bank account. STAY AWAY from this company!!!

    Used service in Nov, 2019. Canceled membership before free trial expired. Company has continued to bill twice monthly. Adding insult is that original expert did not provide any information to resolve issue. Do yourself a favor and just walk to your window and throw 34 dollars out of it every month.

    When I use the service, May 15/20, I agreed to pay the $5 they charge. I NEVER agree to a trial month and I DID NOT open an account. However, they automatically and without my consent, open an account on my name and began withdrawing money from my bank account. Customer representative said today (5/26) that the charges were because I never cancelled the account. How could I cancel an account I never open? Besides, there was a note saying that the $5 were refundable. When I tried that, it directed me to “cancel account”, which as I said, I never created. Additionally, my question wast not answer.     I do a lot of technical repairs to cars and boats. The techs on Just Answer are usually able to tell me something that I really needed to know that is well worth the money. I pay the $35 monthly subscription for unlimited questions. I sometimes go 3 or 4 months without asking a question but then I am comfortable asking several in a row about something I would pay a mechanical shop $1500 to repair or pay a marina $1800 for what I can get done myself for $100. Try to request the specific mechanic for your type of car for tough questions to get the best answers more than a general mechanic but their general mechanics have hit the nail on the head with the right answers the first time also. I even needed a cervical disc replacement/neck operation and got a neurosurgeon to give me some advice. For lawyers try to get one in your state for the right laws. In general well worth the money if you are a DIY.

    I had two experiences with this organization. The expert was unable to identify or give me info on an antique lamp I inherited. The second item, a Navaho rug was identified by age. The value was significantly different when I contacted a person that sold Navaho rugs. They gave me very specific info on the origin of the rug and gave me a value range that was 1500 to 2000 higher than your expert. I figure it’s better to do your own research.

    I came to the site with the understanding that I could get a question answered for the introductory fee of $5. I used that service but did not need more. I was unaware that I would be charged a $60 membership fee shortly after (obviously I was not the only one who found this unclear, if you look at other negative reviews).

    I therefore asked for a refund explaining that I don't need any more questions answered, which they refused and now I must file a dispute with my credit card company to fight this. I'm a single mom on a very limited budget, going through a divorce and could not afford a face-to-face lawyer so I thought this could help me.

    $60 is a huge dent! It could make it so I won't be able to pay my utilities this month. But I'm sure they don't care because 1.) They're stereotypical lawyers - the kind you always hear about, and 2.) they say I should have read the fine print. They don't care that I won't be needing the service, or that the charge is causing me hardship. Who cares about human beings struggling during a pandemic when you're making a buck, right? Policy is policy. This is how they stay in business. Ripping off the poor. Do NOT get suckered into this "deal." Not at all worth the headache.

    I purchased a tv remote and after programming it the right arrow button would not work for Netflix. I returned it and got another one with the same problem. After contacting the company whom made the remote to get help, I was redirected to Just Answer. I had to pay $5.00 for a trial and they apparently signed me up for a monthly subscription fee as well. After explaining my problem with the remote to Kaiser, I waited for a response for approximately 12 hours. When he did respond he gave me info on how to set up Netflix on a PC. I do not have a PC in the house. When I tried to respond to his reply, I couldn't and was directed to rate him instead. I then went and had the monthly subscription cancelled, which I received an email confirming this. I then tried to get the $5.00 refunded. This took me about 2 hours of trying this morning.

    In an email that I received at first they refunded $0.10. Then in the same email they stated that they refunded $4.50. After going back to customer service online (because if you phone them they will charge you $37.00), I was informed that the $0.10 was refused by my bank. After a while I was also told that I was refunded in full and then disconnected from their website. I am extremely unhappy with the whole experience of dealing with Justanswer.

For two days, whenever I checked the website, it said they were working on matching my question with a lawyer. Contacted customer service on Friday to say that I hadn't gotten a response. (Note: they claim to offer three ways of contacting customer service, but the online chat is always busy, and I got no response to my email, so I had to phone them.)     Made a request on a Saturday evening, it was never answered. I was charged the $5 baseline fee for asking a question. Monday morning the question was still pending, but of course the need had passed as the account was created when I was trying to mitigate an urgent situation. Monday morning I logged on to talk to a support agent. I was told no one answered because it depends on how many professionals are online, which is reasonable. The chat agent said they couldn't issue a refund because the person that handles that was busy. I was promised either a call or text when said person could handle my request. I never received communication from the company. Tuesday morning, the question is still pending. I canceled my account, no refund. Nothing. It's not the $5, it's the principle. I literally got nothing out of their service, was lied to and even in canceling the account, the request from several days ago was still spinning its wheels.

    Posted a question with their $1 promotion for one week with a guarantee of an answer to my question within 24 hours. Did not get any response after 24 hours. I called their support team and they said I haven't been matched with anyone so they high-prioritized my question so I could get matched more quickly with an expert. After the 5th day, still no response from anyone. Even got a follow up email asking if I still needed assistance which I replied that I did and they had matched me to another professional. Still no answer and it was already getting close to when my trial membership was to end. Decided to cancel my membership and would not recommend anyone using this service.     I called to ask a question and they sent a $1.00 charge for 1 week. The information went to my junk mail back on 8/27/2019. They have been billing me $40.00 a month since 8/19 until 4/30/2020. They can see that I have not used their service yet they can't refund any portion of the $540.00 that I have been charged. This company is a ripoff it should not be allowed to continue and they should send messages or call customer notifying them of their gimmick charges because they can't earn money without their deceptive practices.

    I signed up for $5/week service and when I wanted to cancel the service, they indicated my email "was not found" in their database but yet they keep charging my card and will not address the issue! They charged $40 last week and they will keep doing that monthly! I have emailed them several times, they emailed back once but did not resolve anything. I regret doing business with this company and will not recommend to anyone!

    I had a query regarding Dragon speech recognition software failing to transcribe into a Word document on a remote computer.     I would never use them again. Got absolutely nothing in trial membership. They said they would rather talk on the phone for another $35. The first appraiser opted out almost immediately and another one never came on. Initially they supposedly had multiple appraisers available. Cancelled my membership in less than 30 minutes. One other thing. The lowest rating you can give an appraiser is 3 stars. I couldn’t give a review on the site at all. BEWARE!

    The service itself is fine, but when you start a free trial you're automatically signed up for a monthly subscription you can't get out of! They will not refund this expense, and it's very high. I wouldn't recommend it at all unless you really plan on using it everyday, otherwise you won't get your money's worth.

    My dog was extremely sick and became paralyzed in his hind legs and I paid my money to speak to a veterinarian to give me advice and I waited for HOURS to hear back and I never heard back at all!! I rushed him to the emergency vet and thank goodness I did because he would’ve died waiting in this company to respond to me!!! Garbage and absolutely unprofessional in my opinion!!!!

    I signed up for the membership trial to see how it worked. I had a specific question about gastrointestinal problems I was experiencing. I saw great reviews so I thought let’s see, maybe this could be helpful in between doctor appointments as Covid-19 has been making my regular visiting a bit difficult. Well I was matched with a “specialist” who basically didn’t offer me any Insight, but said to go see a doctor. Well that wouldn’t have been so bad if I wasn’t charged $46.00 for it.

    I cancelled my membership and I even have an email to prove it. I called in and the rep just argued with me about cancellation. I even offered to send it to their team so that they could see but all the rep would do is cancel my membership for future charges. I called back in, and the second rep did the exact same thing. To make matters worst, if they pulled money from the only card I happened to have on me while working as an essential worker out of state and it overdrew that account and left me stranded with no way to fuel up my vehicle. I would not suggest doing business with this company.

    Asked a question back in Nov of 2018 about my car and didn't get a correct answer and thought I cancelled service. Never thought anything more about it until I was going thru my credit card charges closer this month and found I have been charged $34 a month since then for asking that one question. I realize that I should have been looking at my charges closer but these companies are traps to catch innocent people like me. So for asking one question I have been charged over $500!!!! Yes I signed up for your sneaky 7 day program, but I didn't cancel in time and when I asked for them to please delete my account and waive the $46 outrageous fee they said, "there's nothing we can do." Seriously? When 95% of the world is unemployed because of COVID and other companies are waiving late fees and working with their customers needs, this one can't be bothered to do **. I hope you never lose your source of income, have to figure out how to feed your family with no money, and then deal with a company as atrocious as this one.
