The retailer’s second annual Teacher Prep Event will enable teachers to get discounts on the following items:
All school supplies, including: pens, pencils, crayons, notebooks, folders, binders, arts and crafts items like markers, colored pencils, scissors, glue and classroom storage;
Essentials: disinfecting wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, and food storage bags;
Bullseye’s Playground items;
Pillowfort furniture;
Men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, including performance, basics and shoes.
Items that will not be eligible for a teacher discount include electronics, backpacks, lunch bags, trial and travel size items, swimwear, sleepwear, Fan Central, clearance items, items sold and shipped by Target+TM Partners, and Levi’s Red Tab.
Verifying eligibility
To participate in the event, teachers will need to provide proof that they are an educator. Target said it will email the coupon to teachers able to verify the information online.
"We can take any document that ties your name and/or email address to an educational system" for verification, Target said on its website. "Eligible guests who are not able to validate online can visit their local Target store and present their ID to the cashier for assistance."
Target will also accept a school ID card, letter of employment on a school letterhead, or a current pay stub as verification.
While the event is primarily aimed at K-12 teachers, the retailer says it will also offer discounts to teachers who work in daycare centers, early childhood learning centers, and home schools.
“We want to ensure all teachers get the opportunity to use this coupon,” Target says.
