The retailer is hoping to help consumers save money this summer

With the price of everything from car insurance to gym memberships going up, Target is trying to help consumers save money this summer.

The retailer announced it will cut the price of 5,000 of the most frequently purchased items in an effort to help consumers cut down their spending over the next several months.

“We know customers are feeling pressured to make the most of their budget, and Target is here to help them save more,” said Rick Gomez, executive vice president at Target. “Our teams work hard to deliver great value every day, and these new lower prices across thousands of items will add up to additional big savings for the millions of consumers that shop Target each week for their everyday needs.”

What prices are lower?

So, what will be cheaper at Target in the coming months? The company said it will discount everything from household essentials to groceries, with savings expected on pet food, peanut butter, milk, bread, meat, coffee, diapers, fruits and vegetables, snacks, soda, paper towels, and more.

Shoppers can look for price reductions both online and in their local Target stores, and the sales will be on Target brands, like Good & Gather and up&up, as well as national brands. The retailer will flag discounted items with red price tags that have the new prices on them.
