Snowmobile Recalls and Safety Alerts

BRP U.S. of Sturtevant, Wis., is recalling about 2,800 Ski-Doo snowmobiles.

Internal damage to the fuel hose can cause a leak, posing a fire hazard.

No incidents or injuries have been reported.

This recall involves 68 models of 2016 Ski-Doo snowmobiles equipped with a 600 HO E-TEC engine or an 800R E-TEC engine. The VIN is scribed on the vehicle description decal, which is located on the right hand side of the tunnel. The vehicles came in various colors.

The snowmobiles, manufactured in Canada, were sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from September 2015, to November 2015, from about $12,000 to $17,000.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact BRP to schedule a free repair. BRP is notifying registered consumers directly about this recall.

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., of Cypress, Calif., is recalling about 200 Yamaha SRViper snowmobiles.

The brake line and its components can come in contact with the clutch causing the brakes to fail, posing a risk of injury or death.

No incidents or injuries have been reported.

This recall involves the 2015 SRViper L-TX (Model name SR10LSFO) and the 2015 SRViper M-TX 162 LE (Model name SR10M62LFO) snowmobiles. The recalled snowmobiles are blue and orange. The model name is on the left and right side of the fuel tank cowling. SRViper and Yamaha are printed on the side of the snowmobiles.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is stamped on the frame (tunnel) near the right foot well. The letter F in the 10th position of the VIN indicates that the unit was made in the 2015 model year.

The snowmobiles, manufactured in the U.S., were sold at Yamaha snowmobile dealers nationwide from February 2015, through April 2015, for between $13,000 and $14,100.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact their local Yamaha dealer to schedule a free repair. Yamaha is contacting all registered owners directly.

About 19,000 Arctic Cat snowmobiles are being recalled. The lower steering tie-rod attachment can loosen and cause loss of steering control, posing a crash hazard.

 The recall involves the 2012 model year of the F, XF, and M model snowmobiles.

The model name is located on each side of the hood. The snowmobiles were sold in a variety of these color combinations: black, white and orange, black and orange, black and green and white and green.

Arctic Cat has received four reports of incidents, including one complete loss of steering control. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using these snowmobiles and contact their local Arctic Cat snowmobile dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. Arctic Cat has notified owners of these snowmobiles directly by mail.

Yamaha Motor Corporation of Cypress, Calif., is recalling about 2,520 Yamaha snowmobiles.

The fuel hose joint can leak during operation, posing a fire hazard.

There have been four reports of fuel leakage. No injuries are reported.

This recall involves model year 2014 SR10R (SRViper), SR10RXS (SRViper RTX SE), SR10L (SRViper LTX), SR10LS (SRViper LTX SE) and SR10XS (SRViper XTX) snowmobiles and model year 2015 SR10LS (SRViper LTX SE) snowmobiles. They were sold in a variety of red, black, blue and white color combinations.

The VIN number is stamped on the tunnel near the right side footrest. The letter E in the 10th position of the VIN number indicates that the unit was made in the 2014 model year, and a letter F in the 10th position indicates that the unit was made in the 2015 model year. The model number can be found on the lower left and right cowling just below the word “YAMAHA.”

The snowmobiles, manufactured in the U.S., were sold at Yamaha snowmobile dealers nationwide from October 2013, through August 2014, for about $12,000 to $14,000.

Arctic Cat of Thief River Falls, Minn., is recalling about 3,260 Arctic Cat snowmobiles.

Fuel can leak from the fuel line assembly, posing a fire hazard.

No incidents or injuries have been reported.

This recall involves model year 2014 Arctic Cat XF 7000 and ZR 7000 and model year 2015 XF 7000 and ZR 7000 snowmobiles. They were sold in a variety of green, black, orange and white color combinations. All XF and ZR 2014 models are included in this recall.

Recalled 2015 model vehicles have the last six digits of the vehicle identification number (VIN) in the following ranges: 100920 through 100993 for the XF 7000 models and 100792 through 100919 for the ZR 7000.

The fourth and fifth digit of the VIN, “14” or “15,” correspond to the model year. The VIN appears on a sticker attached to the chassis near the rider’s right foot rest. The model name appears on the front sides of the snowmobile.

The snowmobiles, manufactured in the U.S., were sold exclusively at Arctic Cat dealers nationwide from June 2013, to August 2014, for between $12,000 and $14,500.

Arctic Cat is recalling about 264 Arctic Cat snowmobiles

This recall involves model year 2014 Arctic Cat 500 Sno Pro snowmobiles with model numbers S2014ACCPRUSG and S2014ACCPRPVG. The snowmobiles are green with SNO PRO, TEAM ARCTIC, and 500 printed on the front sides of the snowmobile. The name ARCTIC CAT is printed on the rear sides of the snowmobile. The model number is located in the owner’s manual.

The snowmobiles, manufactured in the U.S., were sold at Arctic Cat dealers nationwide from September 2013, to January 2014, for between $7,800 and $9,000.

Consumers should stop using the recalled snowmobiles immediately and contact an Arctic Cat dealer to schedule a free repair. Arctic Cat is contacting its customers directly.

BRP has received three reports of projectiles flying off of the snowmobiles, including one report of a minor foot injury.

The recall involves Ski-Doo model year 2009-2010 SKANDIC SWT V-800 and model year 2010 GSX 1200, GTX 1200, MXZ 1200, and Renegade 1200 Snowmobiles. The model name and number are displayed on the engine compartment and the serial number is on the right side of the vehicle below the seat on the frame.

The snowmobiles were sold at Ski-Doo dealerships nationwide from July 2008 through February 2010 for between $8,000 and $9,000. They were made in Canada and Finland.

Consumers should stop using these snowmobiles immediately and contact their local Ski-Doo snowmobile dealer to schedule a free repair. All known owners of the recalled snowmobiles have been directly notified about this recall by mail.

BRP US Inc. is recalling about 18,000 Ski-Doo snowmobiles. Cracks can develop in the welded joints of the drive axle assembly of the snowmobile and can result in complete breakage. If this happens the track of the vehicle can unexpectedly lock, causing riders to be ejected off the vehicle or lose control and collide with bystanders, a fixed object or other vehicles. This poses a risk of serious injury or death.

BRP has received 20 reports of locked tracks, including one report of a broken femur and reports of minor injuries such as bruises.

This recall involves Ski-Doo Model Year 2008 and 2009 snowmobiles. Models included in the recall are listed below. Model numbers are printed on the side panels of the snowmobiles.

Ski-Doo Model Year 2009

The recalled snowmobiles were made in Canada and sold by Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from June 2007 through September 2008 for between $7,000 and $12,500.

BRP U.S. Inc. is recalling about 400 Ski-Doo Snowmobiles. Under extreme cold and dry weather conditions, an explosion could occur because of sparking in the fuel tank when it is partially filled with gasoline at a low vapor pressure and the engine is left idling. This could cause serious injuries or death.

The firm has received four reports of explosions, one involving burns to legs, fingers and face.

Bombardier Recreational Products is recalling nearly 500 Ski-Doo model year 2008 MXZ X 600 RS snowmobiles.

A defect in the carburetor can prevent the throttle from freely returning to the idle position. This can result in an unexpected loss of control leading to a collision and cause serious injuries or death.

The firm has received three reports of snowmobiles with stuck throttles. No injuries reported.

The recall involves Ski-Doo model year 2008 MXZ X 600 RS snowmobiles. The model name is located on the side panels. The snowmobiles were sold in yellow or black/slate.

The units were sold by Ski-Doo dealers nationwide during November 2007 for about $9,500. They were made in Canada.

Bombardier is recalling about 2,700 Ski-Doo model year 2008 snowmobiles. The snowmobiles fuel tanks can crack allowing liquid fuel and fuel vapor to leak, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. In addition, a problem with the throttle cable can lead to loss of speed control, posing a crash hazard.

Ski-Doo Model Year 2008 MXZ Adrenaline 800R, MXZ X 800R, MXZ TNT 500SS, MXZ Trail 500SS, Summit Everest 154 800R snowmobiles are included in this recall. The model name is located on the side panels. They were sold in black/yellow, yellow, or black/slate.

They were sold by Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from August 2007 through October 2007 for between $9,700 and $11,200 and were made in Canada.

Bombarbier is recalling about 10,400 snowmobiles. The recall affects certain 2006 Ski-Doo REV, RT, and RF snowmobiles.

The steering columns on these snowmobiles could have a missing weld, which could allow a steering component to become loose. This could lead to a loss of control or possible collision causing serious injury or even death.

The recall involves certain Ski-Doo Model Year 2006 snowmobiles. The platforms involved are the REV, RT, and RF. Most are located on the tunnel.

A second recall affects certain 2006 Ski-Doo REV500 SS, REV 600 HO, and REV 600 HO SDI snowmobiles. Cracks could appear in the starter ring gears allowing gear fragmentation at high speeds. The debris could act like projectiles and cause serious injury or death to riders or bystanders.
