GM recalls 4,000 Chevy Silverado 2500s & 3500s and GMC Sierra 2500s, 3500s

The vehicle may experience a total loss of steering control

General Motors is recalling 3,893 model year 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500s & 3500s, and GMC Sierra 2500s, 3500s.

The steering gear shaft may fracture and disconnect from the steering arm.

A steering arm that disconnects may result in a total loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

What to do

Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear -- if necessary -- free of charge.

Owners should receive letters notifying them of this issue starting September 18, 2023.
