    Hired Top Tier Moving Group as my broker after they promised to personally handle my move from start to finish. Instead, they secretly contracted Applause Moving & Storage without my knowledge — directly contradicting what I was told. They also intentionally left items off the inventory despite a full walkthrough, which set the stage for what came next.

    On moving day, Applause showed up and claimed a half-full 10x30 storage unit wouldn't fit on their truck and demanded an extra $1,699 above the original $5,401 quote — while I had no choice but to comply. This was a basic furniture move from a storage unit, not a full-service move, yet they applied full-service pricing and charges. At delivery, a standard moving truck was used, proving the capacity claim was false.

    On top of all this, a $2,500 overpayment sent via Zelle has never been refunded. Applause claims they didn't receive it, but refuses to investigate or return the funds. It has been over a month with zero resolution from either company. Total paid: $9,600 against a $5,401 quote. Formal complaints have been filed with the Consumer Protection Agency, Better Business Bureau, and the FMCSA. AVOID BOTH COMPANIES!!!!

      They weren't transparent about being brokers rather than an actual moving company. The people they hired were extremely unprofessional, uncaring, rude, and wouldn't even finish the job - and for an elderly woman, no less. Showed up in a U-Haul barely big enough to get half the stuff, and had attitudes about having to do the job at all. When the customer complained to these brokers, it basically went in one ear and out the other before being dismissed. Extremely unprofessional, unethical, and frankly shouldn't even be in business considering their underhanded discretion about what they are/are not!

      My moving experience decreased greatly when my long-distance move was contracted out to a 3rd party. The 3rd party movers were more interested in charging more than the agreed price, than doing a quality move. Your stressful dealing with movers that have no professional service behaviors.

      February 2, 2026. I’m sharing this to warn others considering Top Tier Moving Group (Top Tier Moving LLC - out of FL). I initially booked my move based on a binding estimate of $4,798, covering 21 items and 139 pieces, and paid a nonrefundable $2,202 deposit to secure that price. For clarity, in their terminology a “piece” is a box, bin, tote, or similar container of varying sizes, while an “item” is anything that does not fit into a box or bin, such as furniture, mattresses, appliances, lawn equipment, or other large or odd-shaped items. I accurately disclosed my inventory and relied on the assurance that this was a binding estimate.

      I want to be clear and fair about one point up front. After the Quality Assurance call, the number of items and pieces increased significantly. I understand that if the amount of inventory increases, a price increase can be reasonable. I do not dispute that in principle. What I do dispute is how this was handled. After the QA call, the quoted price suddenly jumped to over $17,000. Over several days of back and forth, I was forced to remove items from the shipment just to keep the cost remotely manageable. I even excluded a large sectional sofa and had to purchase a replacement at my destination because I was told it would not fit within the revised pricing.

      Eventually, after cutting items and negotiating, we agreed on a revised binding estimate of $7,341.41, covering 81 items and 181 pieces. That means 81 non-boxed household items and 181 boxes, bins, and totes. I paid an additional $1,000 deposit and $2,170.20 at pickup, with another $2,170.20 due at delivery. Here is what actually happened on moving day. The carrier coordinated by Top Tier Moving Group loaded only 47 of the 81 contracted items and only 60 of the 181 contracted pieces. This was not due to laziness, refusal, or inefficiency by the movers. They loaded everything they reasonably could based on the space that had been reserved for the move. Even after fully utilizing that space, a large portion of the contracted inventory was left behind.

      This is where the real problem lies. Top Tier Moving Group accepted, reviewed, and finalized an inventory list, then grossly miscalculated the amount of space required to move it. That is not the customer’s job. My responsibility was to accurately represent what needed to be moved, which I did. Translating that inventory into adequate space and coordinating a carrier capable of moving it is literally the broker’s entire business model.

      The only option presented on site was to pay substantially more to load some additional items if space allowed. That option would still not have completed the move and required abandoning the binding estimate I had already agreed to. I declined. As a result, a substantial portion of my belongings was left behind through no fault of the movers. I was also required to disassemble my own bed frame and refrigerator, despite the contract stating that basic disassembly and reassembly were included.

      Taken together, this experience feels less like an honest adjustment and more like a low initial estimate used to secure a large nonrefundable deposit, followed by escalating prices and reduced performance once I was financially locked in. Whether intentional or not, the effect on the customer is the same. A classic bait-and-switch.

      Bottom line. I paid for a binding estimate, complied with every requirement on my end, and still did not receive the services I contracted for unless I agreed to pay substantially more. More than half of my contracted shipment, both items and pieces, was not transported because the broker failed to plan adequately for the inventory they accepted. If you expect price certainty, competent planning, and your belongings to actually be moved as agreed, do not use this company. Stay tuned as the saga continues to delivery...

      That said, in the interest of customer satisfaction and without any admission of wrongdoing, negligence, or liability by either Top Tier Moving Group or the carrier, our team has been and remains engaged with you in good faith discussions aimed at reaching an amicable resolution and reasonable compromise regarding your remaining concerns.

      We respectfully ask for your continued patience and understanding as we work to address this matter professionally and promptly. Our goal is to bring this to a fair and mutually agreeable conclusion.

      I spoke with Bryce ** from Top Tier Moving Group on November 20 to book my move across the country. He asked every single item and how many boxes would be on the truck. I gave him detailed information (proof of this in an email from their company). He said I had approximately 319 cubic square feet. He quoted me at a binding quote of $2700 paid the thousand dollar down payment. When the movers came on December 8, they said this is not correct. You have approximately 600 to 700 cubic square feet and it's approximately going to be $6000 to move your items. At that point I couldn't believe it. I called the company and spoke to Sarah on the phone. (On speaker so the moving group, rapid express moving could also hear the conversation). She said, "You need to listen to the movers. They know what they're doing." I said I was not quoted 6000. I was quoted $2700. She said, "I don't know what to tell you." Hung up with her.

      The mover said, "What do you want to do, pay the 6000 or we can move $2700 worth." I said I will just move $2700 worth which was only a dresser, headboard, footboard mattress box spring and then approximately 25 to 30 boxes. In my $2700 quote and itemized detail in my email. I had also included 48 inch TV a 20 inch TV two wicker chairs, coffee table, TV stand, two nightstands pictures, a full length mirror 2 artificial trees, small bookcase. The mover said, "We are not taking any of this unless you pay us the $6000" which I did not and they only took certain items putting me in a horrible situation as I was moving across the entire country in a few days and had a flight out as well. This is pure fraud with this company they put you in a situation where they want to make you pay the $6000 on the spot when they quoted me the $2700.

      I had to leave thousands of dollars of furniture behind and giveaway before my move. Have left messages for a supervisor to call me back several times and I have not received a phone call back. Explain the situation to customer service and her statement to me was well. Hopefully they'll call you back. "HOPEFULLY." Wow. She should say supervisors will be calling you back! I will keep calling them until I get an answer on why this horrible situation happened to me and I was lied to. I am going to report fraud with this company. Don't ever use them. It is horrible. They misquoted me by over $3000 for my move and are not taking responsibility for it.

      Per our records, your move was scheduled and calculated using the inventory provided at the time of booking. As documented and electronically signed, the quote reflected an estimated volume of 319 cubic feet.

      On move day, the assigned carrier conducted a legally required on-site review to verify the actual volume of items to be transported. During this walkthrough, the carrier determined that the volume exceeded the original estimate by 300-400cft. In compliance with federal law and the terms of the contract, a revised written estimate was provided and reviewed with you prior to loading, using the same per-cubic-foot rate agreed upon at booking, further explaining the reason for additional costs.

      At that time, you chose not to move forward with the revised estimate and instead elected to proceed at the originally quoted amount. As a result, the carrier transported only the portion of items that fell within originally estimated volume, and any remaining items were excluded based on that decision.

      We would also like to clarify that our customer service representative did not advise that payment of a higher amount was required without alternatives. Rather, the representative re-explained our terms and conditions as stated in the agreement, as well as the legal requirement for the carrier to confirm the actual inventory on site and issue a revised estimate when a discrepancy is identified.

      We can assure you that no misrepresentation of our role or services occurred as this information was provided by your sales representative at the time of booking and detailed in the executed contracts. While we do not perform the physical transportation of household goods, we work closely with FMCSA-authorized carriers and assist customers throughout the coordination process.

      That said, following your recent conversation with management, we have agreed to conduct a thorough review of all relevant records and communications. Once this review is complete and additional information is available, we will contact you promptly with an update.

      I had Top Tier Moving Group move me from my 2 bed 2 bath apartment in North Bismarck to my home 5 miles south of Mandan. They were so quick and efficient. They were punctual and at my apartment exactly when they said they were going to be. They got to work right away and wasted no time. They were diligent and took care of my items when loading, hauling, and unloading. They explained everything, and the process was so smooth.       My experiences with Top Tier were fine. They did a good job initially, but they're not really aware of what their local movers are doing. They were very good about setting everything up and putting me in contact with the people that are going to do the move. But after that, it's difficult to keep track of what's going on and who's moving.

      I had three moves with them and they all followed the same pattern. Really good initially. But when it came time to take delivery as much as a month later, they never returned my calls. It took a while to figure out that the only people who knew what was going on were the local movers themselves. Their phone numbers were difficult to obtain because it had to be the drivers themselves who knew where they were.

      The prices were really good. But it's an umbrella company that more or less sets the deal up. They're a middleman. They set the deal up with the local people you're looking for. In that respect, they did well.

      The movers turned out to be golden as well. They were fantastic. They really took their time, helped me out of a pretty good crunch on a couple of occasions. Once I figured out that I needed to be talking to them, it worked very well. They were very good about explaining everything to me and helped me to keep things moving. But the trickiest part is knowing exactly when they're going to land and where they're gonna end up. That's where things can get a little iffy unless you know them.

      The websites for these businesses in general are vague as well. It's very difficult to figure out what they are until you're well into setting up the deal. Their website was the only real trouble I had. They're deliberately vague on what you're looking for online.

      I was moving from Arizona to California for a job and I needed help moving heavy furniture. I used Top Tier and had an interesting experience. When I was being consulted by people on the phone, I was met with kindness and professionalism. But when the movers showed up, it was a different story and I felt a little scammed. They said the cost was going to be more because I was on the second floor. They also wanted more money because I had more stuff. Then they said they were not going to pack the big boxes that I had and that I needed small boxes. So what I was told over the phone was not in alignment with what happened when the movers came.

      At that point, I had to pay more because I had to move. Then, I was told that my stuff would be delivered within 30 days upon arrival to my new place but it took two months. The lady who helped me was nice and she kept going back and forth with us. She was based in Colorado because she had a 303 number. She apologized and said they were backlogged. She assured me that when my stuff would be delivered, there would be no extra payment. But when the movers came, they talked like they were doing me a favor. They said my stuff covered more than 100 feet and normally, they would charge me for that. I told them what the lady that I spoke to said, then he told me that if I wanted to tip the guys, I could. But I chose not to because I was already paying almost $1,000 to move minimal stuff.

      When they got here, they didn't set up my stuff like my TV and my bed. But I was told over the phone that they would set up my things just how I had them in my previous place. But my TV is still in a box. Then, they didn't call me in advance. They told me that they were going to call me 30 minutes in advance, but they texted me. At the end of the day, I'm happy that I have my belongings. They did deliver them and nothing was missing or damaged. When this company is trying to get customers, they'll be razzling and dazzling you. But it's just best to be honest so that there's no confusion and shock when the movers get there.

      Per the signed agreements reviewed and executed by both yourself and Top Tier Moving Group, the initial estimate provided at the time of booking was based entirely on the inventory and information you supplied during booking. As outlined in those agreements, all binding estimates are determined by the customer-provided inventory and the services requested. By federal law, the foreman is required to then complete a physical walkthrough at pickup to verify the actual inventory and identify any additional services needed to safely complete the move.

      As stated in your contract, the total cost is subject to change based on the agreed-upon rate per pound and/or cubic foot. If additional items are present on move day, or if extra services are required—such as packing delicate items (televisions, glass table tops, etc.), specialty crating, or handling bulky items over 300 lbs— the estimate must be adjusted accordingly due to the extra material and labor it would take to complete this service. Our records further indicate that upon arrival, your actual inventory exceeded the original estimate of 298 cubic feet by approximately 400 cubic feet, and that additional services were required at pickup due to a few items that were not disclosed at booking.

      We do not have record of contact from you at the time of pickup or during the period when you experienced delivery delays, in fact our last form of communication with you was July 28th to confirm the carriers estimated time of arrival. Please rest assured that had we been notified of these concerns beforehand, we would have been able to advocate on your behalf, request delivery updates from the assigned carrier, and further assist in facilitating clearer communication to help work toward an amicable resolution.

      Our team has since provided you with detailed information on how to file a claim for any ongoing issues related to missing items, damages, delays, or concerns regarding the actions of the estimators, movers, or carrier personnel . Since we do not physically handle your shipment, nor do we have the authority to adjudicate claims, we encourage you to complete this step with the carrier for further consideration and/or compensation.

      I was moving about 230 miles away and I had everything packed. I hired Top Tier to move my stuff and I wasn't impressed at all. I was misled and it was a damn nightmare. They told me that I had a certain amount of space and I thought that I was hiring a moving company where I had a moving truck coming to move my furniture only. I came to find out that I only had a certain amount of space in their truck. They also told me that I had boxes that I could use but they didn't tell me that I could only use a certain size. I went out and bought 30 large boxes, and they told me that I was supposed to buy 30 medium boxes. So that was a problem

      Also, we had to go by the square footage and I could only put half of my stuff inside the moving truck. So I had to end up renting a U-Haul and driving the rest of my stuff down. Then, they told me that they didn't do stairs. Plus, they scratched up my floor. It was just a disaster and I would never in my life go through these guys again. I had another friend of mine that gave them a call but I told him not to use these people. I paid top dollar for those guys and they were garbage.

      When I called Top Tier, I was looking at a moving truck of my own that was going to cost me about $5,000 and I didn't want to spend that much. I was moving across the state, from Idaho to Michigan. They told me that they could do it for about the same amount, but I wouldn't have to worry about moving all the stuff myself. They'd move it for me. So, I agreed. In the end, it cost me just over $10,000, and I was shocked. But I went with it because I'd already signed the contract. But it was not what I expected at all.

      The people that we met were not the people that we spoke with on the phone. But the people that we met were the ones that added the cost to the final price. The reps on the phone told me everything that they needed, then the actual movers had to add more because my stuff was not what they thought it was. They didn't come and look at it in person. They did the estimate over the phone. But the stuff I was moving didn't change from what I'd said. Still, it did change for them in their minds.

      They had to bring a bunch of boxes and pack everything in the storage shed that we had packaged into other packaging in order for it to go on to the semi truck. So it wasn't packed the way they wanted it to and we ended up paying for their labor and the extra packaging, as well as the square footage in the truck. In fact, I even took some things out of there and took them with me in my truck just to cut the cost back a little bit from what they were putting it at, or I'd have paid even more. Then, they used a rental truck to transport my things from our storage shed to the big truck to ship over here. I could have just put it all in that truck myself, brought it over here, and saved myself half the cost. If I rented a U-Haul and driven on my own, I would have been over here within six days, had the stuff unloaded in the other storage shed for my daughter to move into her house, then we would have returned the truck. The trip would have been done.

      But as it was, we had to wait two weeks for them to schedule us into the trip. We had to wait a week for them to pick up our stuff, then we had to wait almost three weeks before they delivered the stuff here because the truck had to be full in order to get it over here. So, next time, I will move myself and I would not go with a mover again. Overall, I wasn't completely dissatisfied with Top Tier. The guys were nice and I didn't have to do the work. But for all of the anxiety and the monetary cost that it gave me, I would have given them a zero on that. We also had several things that were damaged when they got over here. But we were not in a position to be able to contact the company and address the issue. So we just sucked it up and let it go."

I was quoted a price but the total cost was approximately $2,000 more than I was quoted. They were just a broker and the only reason that I went with the them was they were cheaper by about $400 than the other company I checked out. And I regret that. I moved from Davenport, Florida to Salisbury, Maryland, and the move took about 10 to 14 days. All in all, Top Tier was terrible and I intend to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I wouldn't recommend that company to anyone.

      I would never use Top Tier again. I have had nothing but bad luck. I still do not have all of my stuff. Some of my stuff was left on the truck and I have not received it yet. I do not have a game plan as to when I will receive it. They did pictures of all of my stuff to give me my estimate. My estimate ended up being $1,200 more than the original quote, which I thought was absolutely ridiculous. But by that time, everything had been loaded. So I had no choice but to pay that.

      It took me over a month to get my stuff delivered to Ohio, which I was not made aware of. Then, when it got here, two end tables and my late mother's jewelry chest had a leg broken on it. I had three pieces of furniture damaged. They only sent one man to unload my stuff. He didn't get there until almost 6:00 at night. By the time he got all of the boxes upstairs, he told me, “That's everything,"" and then he left, and then came to find out that, no, it wasn't. I still had stuff on the truck. I would never recommend Top Tier.

Another company called Loadrans Moving Company did.

      It took them over 30 days to get the rest of my stuff. I thought my stuff was supposed to come within a week or two at the max. They picked it up on July 30th and I didn't get my first load till September 8th and all my stuff wasn't in there. They misplaced my stuff. I got 191 items and I thought part of the bill I paid was for them all to be inside the truck. They missed 56 different items that were on the manifest. They did not have a lot of big items on that truck. Then, about two weeks later, they said they found them, and then it took them about another two weeks to get it out to me.

      When they moved it, they didn't move it nicely at all. There was a lot of stuff that was broken and you can tell that they did not care at all. I had everything in hard plastic totes and a lot of the totes were cracked. The mountain bike was bent up. They twisted the neck on the handlebars, which messed up the brakes and everything. I give them a zero. I will never use Top Tier again and will not recommend them or any of the companies I've dealt with.

      We were moving my daughter from Flagstaff, Arizona to Elko, Nevada for a new job. The problem was is that Elko, Nevada is a transient town, being that it's a mining town. So there's not a lot of rooms available or apartments to rent available, and when they become available, you got to jump on them really quick. So the agreement with Top Tier Moving was is that they would store my daughter's belongings until her unit became available, then they would transport her stuff up there. What I did not realize was that their storage facility was located in Phoenix, which is on the opposite direction of where we wanted to go. So when it came time to get my daughter's belongings moved, they had to find a driver that was willing to drive 600 miles and it wasn't as easy to do so. So my daughter didn't get her belongings for about a week.

      When they showed up and delivered the items, they were very courteous and they moved all of her belongings in there. The real problem that I had with the organization was it's a large organization, but they still have to rely on contract drivers when they're available to move these items. So it was one thing to schedule these things long in advance. But when you leave it open-ended like we had to because she didn't have a place yet, you can expect some issues to arise. Overall, the move was a negative experience, but I wouldn't hold it against the moving company because I understood the logistical issues that they had to deal with.

      The move was done in a timely fashion and the price was reasonable. They also seemed very accommodating. The company got their money upfront and then you pay the drivers as they picked your stuff up and as they dropped it off. The price was divided at 33% for each of the payments, so there was a way to pay for these things in a fashion that wouldn't break the bank. Aside from that, the price never changed until the end of our transaction.

      When they showed up to pick up the items, everything seemed to work out just fine. They kept in contact with us, especially on the pickup day. They called the day before then the driver called my daughter on pickup day saying they would be there in an hour, and they came on time. They were very kind and professional. They also handled the packing. It's just that after they put her things in storage, it was the very next day that the apartment became available. But when When they delivered, we didn't have any damaged goods and they put everything in place, even my daughter's bed. When I sit back and I look at everything, Top Tier was not the anomaly. It would have been nicer though if we knew beforehand that their storage was in Phoenix.

      We had to move a bedroom and some other stuff from Hilton Head to Columbus, Ohio. We checked a lot of different companies and Top Tier was the least expensive. Their rep was very friendly and helpful. However, we had some issues. My sister had a bedroom set and 15 boxes. And when she got delivered, she had the 15 boxes, but one of the boxes wasn't hers. It wasn't a simple take care of it in 24-hour period thing.

      The drivers were friendly and they got the stuff packed up very quickly. But I was a little worried because when they pulled into the driveway and opened the back of the truck, there was other stuff that was already in the truck, and it was on the floor, and some was broken. I don't know if that was them or whoever packed it. But again, even if they did a crummy job packing, they should have been secured so they didn't shift while being moved.

      Their customer service was not 100% great. The biggest thing is that every time we got a call from someone saying, "This our scheduled pick-up date. We'll be here such and such a time," they had a new dollar amount for what it was gonna cost. From a $5000 estimate for the first one, to $9,000 for the second one, to near $20,000 for the third one. My friend got the price down to the middle amount and they said okay. The three young men who came to pack and move our belongings were nice, though.

      This is the worst company to complete a move, up charges out of every little thing. Customer service is awful and rude and does not communicate anything. My items were not picked up on time and was delayed by a whole day and the delivery date (which still hasn't happened as of me writing this) is delayed by almost a week. DO NOT USE!!!!

Josh ** and Cameron helped me move last week and they were an awesome crew. Customer service via phone for getting a quote and booking a move date was helpful and quick. The time and cost estimate I was given by the central office was very close to the reality on my move date.       I just recently used Top Tier Moving Group to move and they were absolutely awesome! The great customer service started with booking (Thanks again Ben). They were very accommodating, especially with my agenda being so last minute. I was given a confirmation call the day prior of my move.
