Once you agree to the quote, the company books a date to ensure your items arrive at your new home on time. On your moving day, expert movers carefully handle your belongings and safeguard them throughout the trip.

Golden Gate Relocation pricing

The cost to move your belongings depends on the size of your home and how far you’re moving. Additional services, such as wrapping, packing and storage, add to the cost. Golden Gate Relocation works with you to review your moving needs and keep you informed. It aims to provide an accurate quote so you don’t have any surprises on moving day.

If you’re looking to save, book your move as far as possible in advance to get the best price. It’s also best to move on a weekday, preferably in the middle of the month — this is less expensive than moving on a weekend.

The whole process was easy. I talked to one of the guys and told him approximately what I had, and then he gave me some preliminary numbers. I told him the next time I talk to him I would try to have a better idea of everything that I had. He told me just to give him a list of everything that needed to be moved. The movers called me and told me what time they'd be there for the pick up. They wrapped all of the furniture, but even better than I had gotten it wrapped with my kids. They even went over and above that and wrapped it better with craft wrap paper. They're thick. After they put that on, they put the plastic wrap around all of the furniture so that nothing could get bumped or dented in the truck. They had it all loaded up in about an hour.

There were four guys that came to load it all up. The gentleman that was doing the paperwork with me was really nice. My brother-in-law was there for the unloading. He kept track of how many boxes they brought in to compare it with their list. It was easy. They were all really nice. I would definitely recommend Golden Gate if somebody else needed somebody. Everything was great.

Golden Gate Relocation contacted me right away. I talked to Michael. He explained to me the type of service they were, what my experience would be, and the process that I had to follow. He gave me a quote on what it was. If I needed packing, everything was available for me. He also gave me an estimate on the time that my delivery would be from California to Mississippi. They explained that due to weather and certain unforeseen circumstances, the days may be a couple of days later.

Something always came up that I had to add another box. He said, "No problem. All you gotta do is call me and make sure that you give me a final quote before, not when the guys get there." Every time he changed it, he sent a new invoice out saying what the items were. They picked up my items on the 21st and I told them my expected date. The crew looked over the items to make sure that I had them packed correctly. I had the mirror in the prepacked item. They said they were gonna have to use one of their containers for the safety of the mirror not being broken or cracked. They told me that that package cost $10 which was fine.

I paid the money and Michael, one of the managers at Golden Gate, gave me a deal and he never persuaded me in any way. For days, he was calling me to check if I got my refund back, and if there was anything he could do, he’d help me. And he reassured me the whole time that I wouldn’t be ripped off. I moved from California to Idaho and their process was very smooth. They were upfront and honest. So, I appreciated that.

I had another moving company eight months prior to that because I've been moving from place to place to place, and they ruined my stuff. They never wrapped my brand new furniture and they dragged it. But the movers sent by Golden Gate wrapped everything nicely and got my things loaded up. Everything was professionally done and nothing was broken. Also, the guys who picked up my stuff and the guys who delivered were really nice people. During the delivery, I called because I got impatient and I wanted to know where my stuff was. They were polite about it and it was a blessing in disguise because the place I moved into had to clean up and clear out.

Initially, I went for the lower option and with a broker. They quoted us 1,700, but when they got there, they told us it'd be 9,000. So I called Cory from Golden Gate and he told me that this happens all the time. He said, "They always see the lower price tag, they go for it, and then the people pull the switcheroo." He told me that they could get me out of there for a certain amount. I called a few other places in LA and then decided that I'd rather go with somebody I trust and I've talked to before.

Cory was very transparent with the process and how to check for legit carriers as opposed to brokers. He was great. He definitely knew his industry very well. I like that I was able to get that knowledge, because, now, when I have anybody else that's gonna move or I know anybody else is gonna move, I'm gonna tell them, "Hey, watch for the lower price. And here's how you make sure they're a carrier and not a broker." So it was very eye-opening.

Golden Gate did pack everything. When they got there, they told me it was probably gonna be a little bit more. The foreman said, "Hey, I'll give you all the packing supplies or everything else for free." I had already packed some stuff and wrapped it, but everything else needed to be wrapped, so he said, "I got you on that." So that was nice. They were great. I'll definitely be using them again. It was nice talking to Cory. We had a lot of similar interests, so we had a nice little personal conversation. Overall, Golden Gate was very professional and efficient. They got me out of there in two and a half hours. I was impressed.

I loved my crew that came. They were wonderful. Everything was good. But the guy, Jim, that sets it up was the most rude person I've ever dealt with. He was awful. I couldn't get the truth from him, trying to find out when the truck was coming. He made it a really bad experience. I understand that there's weather and there are different things. Golden Gate said it could take up to so many weeks. But at some point, Jim said the truck left on a Saturday and should be there Monday or Tuesday. Then he called me on Monday, and now it was not left. That part of it was a little upsetting.

The first guy that I dealt with was Mike. We went over all my stuff and I knew it was gonna be more than what we knew about because there were boxes in the garage. But Mike was really good. He was patient, kind and knowledgeable. He was always there when I needed the questions and stuff. Johnny was in charge of the crew and he worked like I've never seen anybody work. He was so incredible and caring. He was pretty wonderful. But I was not happy with the runaround I got from Jim and his rudeness.

The representative that I worked very closely with, Sherene, explained everything and answered every question that. I kept hemming and hawing, but she was extremely patient with me. They did two stops for the pick-up - at the house and at a storage facility. The driver called me out to say, "You're already almost at the level. I'm gonna have to move it back." Initially, I only had my things on the truck. Then we added my roommate's things. We removed all of her stuff from the truck, but I still ended up sucking up more room in the truck. If I added this much but took it back, how did I still end up sucking up more space in the truck? Other than that, everybody was super-duper nice especially the young men that came and did the heavy lifting. They were quick and did not lollygag. They got there on time. To this point, I'm extremely pleased with the service that I have received from Golden Gate Relocation.

The moving crew from Golden Gate was good. There were some damages that had occurred. The biggest problem was the people here who took stuff apart didn't necessarily provide details as to how to put things back together. So, that slowed the process down considerably. There were different crews at drop-off and load. The only thing was it was a little less organized unloading because there are no instructions or labels as to what when they take things apart.

The reps from Golden Gate called me and went through what I had, approximately how many boxes and what type of furniture. They were able to tell me a quote and send one. Once I accepted it, we set up dates and coordinated when they would come. They came and picked up my stuff. And once I gave them the delivery address, I got everything delivered within a week. The delivery went well and everything came how I expected. I was prepared for some stuff but there's nothing that I've noticed that has been damaged. All the people were very helpful. The people who did the pickup and delivery seemed to work well and were efficient. It didn't take longer than it should have and it’s overall, a good experience.

Once I spoke to the individual who was quoting me the price and working with me on that, I liked how he communicated. He was open and verified everything before we finally agreed upon something. Jim, the gentleman that's in charge of assigning the movers, was nice, very friendly and helpful. He was on point with letting me know what was happening. I was told a time frame to expect my items, which was great. My only issue is that once I received my items, the majority of the boxes, which were heavy moving boxes, were smashed and ripped open, and then taped around. All of my dishes were broken and one of my mattresses never showed up. One of my workout machines, a vibrating platform that you step on, doesn’t work. The bars on my boxing bag station are all bent so I can’t put it together. There are a few other boxes that are missing of items that I've had from Africa and other places that I can't replace.

I filed a claim online and I'm waiting to hear back from somebody. Also, there were items delivered to me that don't belong to me and I let the company know that there are items here. Golden Gate was apologetic and they told me they tried to locate the mattress and other items that I'm missing. But they could not, which was why I was given the link to file a claim. The move took place in March but I haven't heard anything from anyone in a few weeks so, I have no idea what's happening.
