Hired Servicemaster when I had a water leak. Bad choice. When they finally came to house. No four hours response, by the way, I was told “no big deal, let it air out, run a fan. If it doesn’t dry out give us a call.” Next thing you know I have mold throughout my house in the ceilings. First thing I do is call servicemaster, thinking they might take responsibility. Ha. They can’t find a record of coming to my house. Next, now I really do need a four hour response. They can’t come for days. I’m sitting around waiting on first day, call their office. “You don’t have an appointment today”. Schedule appointment for a week later, I’m waiting for them to come, they call, “we need to reschedule your appointment for tomorrow “. What a scam. I call someone else, and then call my lawyer.

It’s hard to see that there are still so many people who will take advantage of people when they are down but Service Master definitely does just that. They came in after my house flooded and barely removed anything, spent more time reading the moisture level on the walls than actually removing them. My contractor had to keep pushing his finger through the sheet rock to get them to take anything out. They knew I wasn’t able to live in the house and they left walls, door borders, a vanity, insulation and items soaked in water.

They brought in fans and plugged them all into one room so the breaker kept flipping, then they said they come everyday to check on the fans and didn’t return till 4 days later. Everything they pulled out of the house they left spread out through my front yard but charged me for removal. I finally returned to my house when the water was restored and there was mold Everywhere, 4 months later I’m still having issues because due to them lying and saying they removed everything and not the mold has spread. Had a company that actually cared about their customers come I wouldn’t have to continue to turn around and pay more people for the same work service Master claimed they did and of course charged for.

I was shocked to receive an almost $6,000 bill for the work they actually completed. I have called and talked to multiple people and of course they don’t care nor offer to come out and actually do the work they charged for. I learned my lesson the hard way for sure but hopefully this review helps at least one person from being taken advantage of from this money hungry company!

My nephew hired Service Master to come and clean my trailer before I moved in it. Granted, they had to move a lot of boxes and some furniture to a shed right next door but they were getting paid $90 an hour each and the bill came to at least $2200. Of course that doesn’t add up to many hours. Everything that they cleaned I will have to clean again. They shampooed the carpet but they left it so wet that we had to end up tearing it up anyway. They had plenty of time to smoke and talk on their cellphones though

My insurance company sent out ServiceMaster Restore after an electrical fire. The initial contact was speedy, I was quite impressed. This was the calm before the storm so to speak. After this initial contact it took close to 2 weeks for any further work to be conducted. All mine and my kids belongings were sitting in smokey ash and soot creating further damage. My landlord had PuroClean as a contractor, they were on the ball and even gave me information regarding the process. They informed me they also worked with my insurer, in hindsight I now wish I contacted my insurer and switched.

With ServiceMaster none of my questions were answered, they couldn't even give me an hourly rate and the cost for storage as repairs were done. What company doesn't know their hourly rate (or any of their rates for that matter). When I started to voice my opinion and concerns I noticed the full time employees changing attitude (not the temps, they were still very nice). It was already a very stressful situation, watching all my stuff being prepped for disposal. ServiceMaster Restore definitely added to the stress.

If your insurance company has ServiceMaster as their preferred find out who they have next on the list. I would suggest you check if PuroClean works with your insurer, as I have had experience with them (be it through my landlords insurer). On a final note, I definitely feel like ServiceMaster was there to take advantage of me in a disaster situation, I feel used and abused by them and still have to pay because they didn't listen to the instructions from my insurer or myself.

Due to a water leak my insurance company sent Service Master workers to my house. They said that they removed the insulation from the crawlspace but it turned out they hadn’t. The services not rendered they charge the insurance company $450. In addition, they put the contents of some of my kitchen cabinets in 9 cardboard boxes and for that alone they charged my insurance company $874. Obviously, due to lack of supervision by the insurance company (probably due to Covid-19) they charged anything they wanted and got paid. I do not trust them at all. This is a shady company. Beware.

Stay far away from this company. They not only don’t know what they are doing but they were sent by my insurance company and forged my signature on documents. I’ve been trying to get this taken care of for over 5 months and all the sudden I received an invoice for $3200 saying if I don’t pay this money they will take further action. I never contracted this company nor did they even offer the services they told my insurance company they could do. Their tech that I spoke with even admitted they don’t usually do crawl space work and moisture barrier work.

We had a plumbing flood. Our insurance recommended Service Master. The mediation was a disaster due to so many mistakes and careless work. I keep explaining it's not about the money, it’s about our home that we love and have shared many memories with our kids and our grandkids. They left it in quite a mess and that was 35 days ago. It’s still a mess and it’s heartbreaking.

Our insurance company sent ServiceMaster Restore out to our home after a large portion was damaged by water from an overflowing toilet. The gentleman who came out were so professional and courteous and they answered my many questions about the process. After placing around 8 fans and 3 dehumidifiers in our home, they left and said they'd be back the following weekend. Unfortunately, one of the dehumidifiers went out and flooded our entryway but SM were so quick to send an after-hours tech out to replace it and clean it all up. The remediation process was quick and painless and I am so happy they were called. Another company quoted us 4-6 weeks out of our home and well over 3x the amount ServiceMaster charged.

We had a fire in our basement July 2019. The insurance company hired Servicemaster as we were out of town and then encouraged us to use them for repair also. All around the service has been nothing but problems. There isn’t enough room in this space to tell anyone how bad our experience still is a year later even after numerous calls trying to resolve. It’s sad a company can make false claims and act as though they can help eliminate your stress only to compound the issues at such stressful time. I would discourage any one from hiring them.

Updated on 09/02/2020: Please be very careful when hiring or your insurance hiring Service Master, I had very severe water damage done to my home. Service Master cleaned up and packed up my household goods. In the process the employees stole various items from my home. This was very unprofessional and now I am trying to receive compensation for stolen items. To no one surprise I am being ignored even by the Corp office in TN. Shame On Them!!!

Original Review: I home was damaged by water. My insurance called Service Master to handle the process of packing up my household items. In the process their employees stole valuable items. If I was not dealing with chemo and radiation I would have watched their every move. It took me years to pay and collect a doll collection I had invested $5000 into.

I had a smoke damage fire in my Apt in Dec 2019. I notified Travelers Insurance of my loss due to TOXIC smoke destroyed every item and corner of my apartment. No itemized inventory was provided although I asked for one. No correlation between the cost of dress clothing, ruined furniture, etc. ALL clothing was WASHED AND DRIED! Not professionally dry cleaned. Requested an inventory..."We will get back to you...Very busy right now." Repeated calls NOT RETURNED as of today. Nice people, ROTTEN customer Service. Check out your options!!!

I recently discovered I had a water leak in my home. I called my insurance agent and she recommended Service Master Restore. What a blessing! Bryan ** was here within an hour. The problem was determined and Bryan explained in detail what each step would be to take care of my problem. His crew was here promptly at 9 a.m. to start work. They were very courteous and respectful and hard workers. When they were finished they cleaned up everything and left no mess at all. Bryan was here to check on everything and explain what the next steps would be. Bryan has been here everyday to check on everything and has made what could have been a nightmare a wonderful experience. I very highly recommend Service Master Restore!

City sewage backed up into my basement during the Covid lock-down. Anthony and Jose from ServiceMaster were Amazing. They did a very thorough and complete job, patiently answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. They helped me deal with the City as much as they could, explained everything to me and kept coming back on a daily basis until my basement was completely dry and all of the fecal tainted items in my basement were thrown out.

Owner seemed great on the phone. I explained the issue with my new carpet thoroughly, repeated it to the technician who arrived. Left the tech to do his work and found out he went into a room I didn't request (this was a very simple job). I needed a small hallway and some stairs cleaned. Now I have a basement that already has a moisture issue completely damp and wet because I wasn't consulted before the tech decided to do an extra area. Called to speak to the owner and was told I'm too stressed and they don't need customers like me who expect a specific job to get done. Now I can't lay plastic to finish the remodel I'm working on and I've taken a day's loss in time and have to buy a dehumidifier. Owner needs a lesson in manners. Avoid this company like the plague.

My husband and I recently had a water leak in our home. We called our insurance company who recommended ServiceMaster, and we are so glad they did. Alex came out to our home the same day to evaluate the leak. He was super professional and helpful in determining the cause. The next day, Collin and Jason came to mitigate the damage. They were very knowledgeable and completed the work in no time. They took the time to explain the issue and next steps. The next few days, Alex returned to assess the areas and treat the subfloor with antimicrobial spray. After a few days, Josh and Jason returned to complete the mitigation and remove the air scrubbers. They made a difficult situation much easier than I anticipated. We're so glad we chose ServiceMaster for our home and highly recommend this company to all. Thanks again to Alex, Jason, Collin, and Josh for your professionalism and expertise!

My home was destroyed by a flood caused by a water pipe and leaking roof. They removed the Mold and Mildew areas, repaired everything in an amazing amount of time. The workers were respectful and helpful. Explained everything, and helped in every way they could. Were very knowledgeable, and the work was finished and it turned out great. I recommend anyone in my position. To call them. You won't regret it. Amazing work and great employees. Best company all around.

Benjamin and Joseph were excellent! As a single mother these gentlemen went out of their way to make the mold remediation as quick and painless as possible. They were not only quick and efficient, but explained the process every step of the way. They showed up early, and called me each and every day. The mold remediation took place over the Thanksgiving holiday, so their professionalism truly helped get me through an extremely hectic time. I would recommend this company over any other as they treated me like a person and not a number. I'd give more stars if I could!

My house burnt in June of 2018. It was a great loss. ServiceMaster was assigned to the job starting with the packing and removal of both damaged and undamaged items. They did such a wonderful job. They not only rebuilt to a more valuable but a much more beautiful home. I lost my mother in the fire. Her keepsakes were treated like their own. Which meant everything. Some things could not be replaced. But they made sure that items that could be saved were cleaned and repaired to the highest quality. If anything ever happened to me again they would be my choice in restoration services. They go above and beyond what they are required to do.

Recently, I called this business after a 6 inch rain over 3 hours that caused water into our basement in Waterford, Ct. The person I spoke with, who answers their after hours calls was very professional. She said we were the first call after the heavy rain. She said she would contact the crew and they would be at our house immediately after they picked up the equipment. That was about 5:30 AM, but the two man crew didn't show up until 8:45!! More than 3 hours after my call. Their business is about 10-15 mins from our house.

The two man crew arrived with a single water extractor connected to the truck so they only had to move the hose and nozzle to the basement. They were there for a total of 4 hours and left one dehumidifier at the house after we declined the multiple fans for an estimated cost of $1000 a day. They returned 24 hours after they left to retrieve the dehumidifier.

A few days later we received a bill via email that was not itemized for a total over $2300!!! Which works out to more than $500 per hour! When I called up and asked why we didn't receive an itemized bill I was told they only do that for insurance claims. I asked the manager why he would think a homeowner paying out of pocket would be any less interested in how they were being charged than an insurance company.

Good thing I did ask for an itemized bill. The itemized bill arrived a few days later and listed around $500 for application of a "plant based anti fungal" agent to the floor. The only problem was THEY NEVER APPLIED this product. In addition, we were charged for work on a room they never touched. They also took the widest and longest dimensions of every room they did work on without taking into consideration builtins like bookcases and a long bar, for example, that took up considerable square footage that were never treated. Another example, they took the widest and longest dimensions of a bathroom without deducting the space occupied by the shower or the vanity which occupied more than half the square footage of that room.

They did similar miscalculations on the other rooms as well. They also charged us for 2 hours of setup and take down. Keep in mind that covers taking a hose, (not the motor, just the hose) back and forth from the basement and bringing down and removing a dehumidifier. Two hours for those tasks which accounts for half the total time they were there!!!

I contacted the owner after writing an email to the local manager and requested the owner call me, which he did. Instead of apologizing for the charging us for an application that was never done, he tried to defend the error by saying. "99 percent of customers would have had that done". As far as the miscalculations and the room that was never done, he defended those errors by saying the crew "was new". I also pointed out they bumped the cost of the 24 hour rental for their dehumidifier about $30. When I pointed that out to the owner, he said the crew didn't know the cost of the dehumidifier. I agreed and said an employee from the crew, Steve, told us he didn't know and called the home office and then quoted $71 for 24 hours. The bill showed a rental fee for over $100!

We subsequently received a revised bill that was about $1000 less that reflected a deduction for the room that wasn't treated, a correction on the dehumidifier rental rate and a deduction for the anti-fungal agent that was never applied. What wasn't included was an apology for their multiple mistakes. Regardless, although we felt that was still outrageous, we didn't have a choice and paid the bill immediately. But that wasn't the end.

A few days later another bill arrived by regular mail, billing us for the difference between the original bill and the revised bill!!! Talk about the gang that couldn't shoot straight. I sent another email to the owner and demanded a receipt indicating the bill had been paid in full which we got a few days later, again, absent any apology for their ongoing multiple mistakes. If I hadn't demanded an itemized bill we would have paid even more than the outrageous charges we ended up paying in the end. Clearly they were more interested in taking advantage of people when they are at their most vulnerable times.

We have since talked with many others about their experiences with similar situations and they were as shocked as we were when I told them the amount we were charged before and after the revised bill. We also contacted another professional restoration business and gave them the square footage and asked for an estimate and was told, about $700 maximum! This business apparently doesn't have a conscience either and don't even know the words, "Sorry. we apologize for the many mistakes we made." They don't recognize how far the words, "I am sorry" or "we made a mistake" could go with their (former) customers.

They hire outside people to paint, tile, etc. We decided to upgrade our bathroom tile at our expense and hired a reputable tile person. When they taped off the wall to protect the new paint job all the paint came off because they painted over dust and dirt instead of prepping the walls first. I could write at length about their shoddy work. The deal breaker is the leather living room set they threw away that I specifically asked them not to more than once because of matching table's wood. They claimed they were streaked and I wanted to see them and see if the streaks could be fixed or repaired. They damaged pieces of a nice heavy bedroom set taking it out of our home for "cleaning".

They hire young cheap labor that is clueless. It's overwhelming to have smoke/fire damage. I think that they make bad decisions regarding cleaning that are contradictory. Hire your own cleaners for clothing, floor/carpet replacement, painting, etc. This company is all about a big money grab. They descended on our home and grabbed up so much of our stuff most of which was not necessary. We were still in disbelief about what was going on and they are all too happy to take advantage of that. Beware they are awful and disrespectful of your vulnerability.

Basement flooded due to a leak in the water line to the humidifier of the furnace. Called Service Master to help remediate the flood and fixed the leak. They sent in what they called "professional" plumber to fix the leak. A week later basement flooded again due to the same leak and this time the flood is worst than last as more water leaked as the water hose came loose. Service Master took all the wet electronics to have them check out to ensure they are not water damage.

2 months later we are still waiting for our electronics and fix to our baseboard and carpet is still not done. We, the homeowner has been constantly calling them to get an update and every time it is a disappointment. They say they will come at certain time but they don't show up and don't call to let us know they are not coming. We have to take time off from work to wait for them to show up. They do not follow up on the job and we do not have a pleasant experience with this company. This is the Fort McMurray Service Master.

In July, we found out that we had a leak in the sink of our upstairs bathroom. State Farm recommended ServiceMaster to do the work. At first they were fine, but now it is October and is still not complete. Additionally, they are trying to rip us off now on replacements. The original itemized estimate approved by the insurance company allowed for a $175 replacement vanity. ServiceMaster is trying to tell us we only have $110 for a vanity. Additionally, they included a light and sink that they are not replacing in the estimate, so I know we have more money to spend on a sink. We are now planning to fire them, because we feel they are involved in insurance fraud. A shame because the actual workers who initially did the work were wonderful.

This company is a rip off. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I was quoted 4600.00 invoice received 6432.19 for 7 days with only 4 days of actual work. I used ServPro last year with the same issue and they used equipment for 14 days and was only charged 4700.00. I am a very unhappy customer. Avoid this company. Beware...

I called Service Master Restore because 2 plumbers who came out said we had sewage and standing water under the house and it had to be cleaned up before they could get in there and find and fix the leak. We had Cameron ** and Brandon come out to look at what needed to be done and give an estimate. I let them know that I would not be home but my adult son would be. My son said they were very polite and went right to work. Brandon went under the house while my son turned on water from all over the house to see what was leaking and where it was. They not only found the leak but were able to tell us exactly where it was and took a video of it. They let us know that there was no sewage and no standing water just wet dirt and small food particles from the garbage disposal. They said that really the only thing needed was a plumber to fix the leak, and that they did not have to clean up anything.

WOW, I had tears in my eyes because I knew how much this could have cost us but they were very honest and said "Nope nothing needed to be done on their part." Cameron, Brandon you are my heroes, thank you for your honesty. If I EVER need a restoration company you will be the first and only people/company I will call. And I will be telling everyone about you. Dorena **

I had major water damage, unfortunately my Insurance company was a Scam and they sent ServiceMaster to my house. The first thing the assessor stated was that "he was going to save my insurance company some money." Clear conflict of interest here. Why would he want to save my insurance company money when I was his client???? This person would not answer my questions or answered them with "I am a professional". He then fabricated a story about how he did not need to drop fans as he would create a “vortex” when they returned 6 days later to do the work. At one point I called the assessor to question his "professional" opinion and he told me he was just a traffic manager. I asked for credentials - he had none!! In my time of need I was totally lied to and given a person who literally was not qualified even though he answered (or didn't answer) my questions by saying I'm a professional!!!!

They left my basement soaking in water for a week. I told them the original guy was not ever allowed in my house again and they sent another misogynistic jerk with a bad attitude. The first thing this guy snarled at me was "Why are your windows open?? That's the worst thing you can do!!" Had I actually had a professional assessor I am guessing that info would have been passed on to me much earlier and less rude. When I asked him for his name his reply was “why, are you going to report me too?” He would not even give me his last name - so these jerks were in my house and didn't feel the need to even identify themselves!!!! They left my basement in shambles, cat box full of stuff from the closet, shelves down, left my washer unhooked. The story just keeps getting worse. Each person more inept than the last. When I asked one guy to hook up my washing machine he told me he did but I better keep an eye on it because he wasn’t sure if he did it right.

The company fully supports this behavior!!! They were supposed to send me a revised bill that I have had to call for three times - instead they sent me to collections twice!!! They are currently threatening a lien on my house. They actually refused to send me correct billing. Literally told me that I would not receive the correct invoice and they were putting a lien on my house!!!! The business was a freak show from beginning to end. I had to call corporate as I was not paying an incorrect bill as that would mean I would have to have further contact with these trolls. As they say - hire a clown, expect a circus!!

Our basement flooded last night and after two requests, they never returned my call! We ended up wading around with a shop vac, moving furniture and valuables, removing carpet and padding and today will have to rent dryers. It is 9 hours and we still haven’t heard from them. Less than useless!! Wish I could give them a negative review.

Had smoke damage in home, they showed up shortly after my initial call to secure the job for themselves. That was the only quick response we got. We were lied to, charged for work not performed and what little they did do was so bad that I fired them midstream. They sued me for payment, the judge saw the pictures of the shoddy work and ruled in my favor. Stay away from these people. I rarely post negative reviews. I wish I could do more than just write a bad review. Trust me. They were terrible. Stay away!!

They used old parts on my hot water heater. I had a gas leak. They put old parts on my toilet. They painted my house outside but refused to paint the trimming. I have a leak under my sink where it wasn't connected correctly. He replaced my kitchen tile with this choice leaving a gap between the kitchen and dining room. I can go on but this is a start. My furniture was taken out but was brought back just like they took it out.

State Farm suggested them and we called them out to help clean up after a water line upstairs ruptured when we were on vacation. They came in, started ripping up tile and carpet. While doing this, they poked holes in my ceiling with their shovels, kept walking through mud and tracking all over my house, even the unaffected areas from the flood. Then they scratched the heck out of my dryer door, which is glass. We fired them right then and the project manager said they would take care of the damaged door. That was June 10th of 2018!

I called the corporate customer service number and Greg said he would get this resolved and call me back, two weeks later I’m still waiting. The project manager Don called me and said I was a liar. So now, June 16th of 2019, I’m still waiting. Very unprofessional employees and managers. I noticed that ServiceMaster will only reply to good reviews. Very telling if you are in need of services like they offer. Find a more reputable company and you will have a better experience.
