★★★★★ This is the best insurance company I have ever worked with — hands down. I’m not exaggerating. Every single person I’ve spoken to at UnitedHealthcare PPO Illinois has gone above and beyond to help me. They don’t just answer your questions — they actually get on the phone and call your doctor, dentist, or any provider directly. Whatever the issue, they walk with you every step of the way until it’s solved. If you need medical supplies or help getting your doctor to complete paperwork, they’ll assign you a dedicated worker who will contact your doctor, therapist, or whoever is needed, and handle all the red tape to make sure the paperwork is done right.

I was very fortunate to work with Chyna **, who helped me resolve a dental billing problem where I was being triple charged. She also made it possible for me to receive a beautiful wheelchair and a hospital bed I truly needed. I’ve never had an insurance company personally speak to providers to make sure I got approved for care and equipment — but they did. They also make sure no facility is trying to rip you off or overcharge you. They advocate for you — or right alongside you — to ensure you’re treated fairly. They value you as a client and make sure others value you as well. It’s impossible to list everything they’ve helped me with because it would be way over the word limit for a review. All I can say is: UnitedHealthcare workers treat you like family.

P.S. They also have excellent benefits — especially dental and OTC benefits. You can even use the OTC card to buy groceries at stores like Jewel-Osco, Walmart, Meijer, Walgreens, Dollar General, and more (depending on your area). I don’t receive food stamp benefits, so this has been a huge blessing. I get $218 OTC each month, plus you can earn up to $50 for doing things like working out, getting flu shots, completing your physical, nurse visits, and more.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing truly exceptional service from Lisa **, who went above and beyond to not only clear me of bills that were misadvertised in the first place, but also took the time to ensure future clients wouldn’t fall victim to the same false advertisements. Not to get too personal, but I’ve had a lot of life and career changes over the past year, and my mental health began to suffer. Through the UnitedHealthcare app, I found a coaching program that helped me manage my anxiety and negative feelings toward these growing pains. Unfortunately, the way the program was advertised was misleading, and I was left with a list of hefty claims I didn’t feel I should have to pay.

I spoke with multiple representatives from UnitedHealthcare and the third-party coaching app, but no one was able to help me... until Lisa stepped in. She persistently called to check in on my satisfaction, and when I explained my situation, her empathy and dedication far exceeded my expectations. She called me weekly with updates, reminding me she was still working on my case. Lisa made me feel seen, heard, and valued, and that alone felt priceless. I have never met her before, yet she treated me like a good friend rather than just a customer. She singlehandedly changed my opinion of UnitedHealthcare, and I am truly grateful. Lisa is invaluable to her department and to the provider as a whole.

I needed customer service. I'll admit I was worried because I almost always experience poor customer service for the simplest requests. This time was different, very different; the initial CSR quickly and accurately defined the problem, communicated the solution, and sent me to the CSR who could help. The technical support specialist verified that she understood my problem, professionally conveyed to me that she had a solution, and coached me on what to do. She was so familiar with the procedure that I felt hope replace the worry. My issue was quickly and completely resolved, as she asked probing questions to make sure the service I was seeking was actually functioning as expected. I was on the call for about 7 minutes and when I hung-up, I was able to use the service. Good job!

I wanted to give a positive review to customer service rep. Britney for staying on the line with me for 2 hours advocating a referral complication between my PCP and service center. She was well informed and articulated the issues very well, working with both my challenging PCP office and my gynecologist office. At the end of the day, we are hoping that the issue is cleared up, and though we spent 2 hours resolving something that theoretically should take a few minutes, I was glad that I met a UHC rep like Britney, because it shows how despite sensationalized or generalized press about UHC that there are genuinely helpful people apart of the company, that did all she could to advocated getting this referral handled ASAP with professionalism, persistency, and a sense of humor. Thank you Britney!!

I want to share this positive Review because United Healthcare deserves it. I recently found out a Dr. Matthew ** has left Surgical Clips in my TMJ area and I have been suffering with pain and Chronic Deformity for years. I have continued to go to several Specialist but no one has diagnosed me with these clips that continue to cause infection, swelling, bleeding etc. I learned of the negligence on 9/26/24 and these doctors have known for years but instead they say, "I am Delusional," to prevent me from getting the proper medical care and treatment. Virginia doctors have been caught several times with the mistreatment of patients. I want to thank United Healthcare for their loyal support, care and compassion while trying to find a doctor in another state who morals and ethics have not sunk so low. I pray I get the help needed in time before this severe infection kills me. I want to thank the staff and especially Ms. Crystal T. for the help I received with this matter.

I received an email from my OB/GYN (Unified Women's Healthcare) office notifying me the United Healthcare was terminating the contract with their office effective 12/15/25. I am 6 1/2 mos pregnant and now have to go in search of a new doctor to deliver my child, a doctor who will be a complete stranger to me. It took years to develop the trust and relationship I have with my doctor, and I know she has mine and my baby's best interest at heart. I want everyone to know that UHC is heartless and cruel. No one should ever be put in the position of having to lose their medical care in the middle of their pregnancy. If I could dump UHC right now, I would. Unfortunately, they know that people are not in a position to terminate their healthcare over something like this, so we must pay the consequences. This is the treatment we get when we allow corporation to make the rules.

Borderline fraudulent company that lines the pockets of politicians to stay out jail. Watch out for those "re-billings" a year later to try and flip the script to now say you weren't at the out of pocket maximum in 2024 after all, oh well...looks like you're shit out of luck.

It’s the worst to work with UnitedHealth. The reps give you misinformation about a tier 1 vs tiers 2 doctors and that is a simple task. The website is not helpful at all finding a provider to check what tier the facility is in. Therefore having to pay a higher deductible because of rep mistake.

United is by far the WORST insurance policy on the market. It's full of incompetent customer service "professionals". I haven't had access to my UHC portal for WEEKS. No one has been able to help, every day I've spoken to a different person that has no solution. My claims are being denied, my policy number doesn't work... They are horrible..Stay away if you can.
